Came in for a quick dessert. Had an ice cream and espressos. Nice little corner spot and the service was great. Will have to come back for the actual heavier food.

We had lunch here. A good Soup and a tomato egg plate with great freshly pressed orange juice with ginger, exceptional espresso and tea. Lauren was very nice creating us when we came in, even talking some Dutch😂 Service friendly and efficient

Stopped in for breakfast - the breakfast sandwich on baguette was excellent. Staff was very friendly. Plenty of seating the morning we went.

Lovely, sweet neighborhood spot with a great fresh menu and excellent coffee. All the people who work there are super charming and attentive as well! A great spot for a lunch meeting or an afternoon pick-me-up.

Just recently opened my studio down the street, and was so very excited to try Cafe Gitane. It is so cute and delightful. It really felt like I had been transported out of New York. I can't wait to bring others here for coffee, breakfast, lunch out on the sidewalk (which they have a very lovely set-up). Food is excellent, and their cappuccino is so so good. I've stopped by a couple times before work, to take one to go!

Cutest little spot in vinegar hill! Loved the menu as it had so many great brunch and food options. Iced latte was delish. Every meal was great and everyone that worked there was friendly and helpful. Will definitely go back again soon!

I really loved the Cafe! Delicious food, beautiful and cozy place and great service. They don't take reservations, so you need to get there early. The dishes were delicious, but the baked eggs with salmon could have more salmon.

Lovely little cafe in Brooklyn. Nice selection of pastries and food menu. I had the cous cous which was absolutely delicious! We also had the chicken baguette which my daughters loved, as well as the avocado toast. A hidden gem in my mind!

What. A. Find. Hard to know really where to start as I'm so in awe of this little gem. First of all, I've only been once so far (going back day after writing this review). As you can see it's a small boutique style Café. Feels very French, the decor, food and therefore all up ambience. The service however was very American, as in good!!! Friendly, helpful and just a joy. The food was fantastic, I had the veggie burger that was homemade with quinoa as opposed to a Beyond meat style burger. I have time for both but this was delicious. The side salad was complimented with the most amazing dressing. The options for vegan and vegetarian dishes are plentiful. A great place to spend a brunch, lunch or dinner and I am very much looking forward to sampling as much of the menu as I can.

Cafe gitane is a French Parisian inspired Cafe offering French and American food. The service was very good I went very early in the morning the wait staff was very attentive the music was great the seating arrangements was fine overall aesthetic perfect for close casual get-togethers. Pros: I really love how this place pays close attention to detail and all the food that was served to me the cappuccino was made fresh to order the cafe mocha had a really cool design on it I got a piece of chocolate along with my beverage I thought that small detail just made all the difference and I really enjoyed my experience.the cafe has a very intimate setting the wait staff is very nice and attentive the selection of food provides a lot of variety mostly small plants like salad sandwiches soups and breakfast foods it's a really good place to come to unwine. Cons: the serving portion would be considered small for someone who is looking to have a full course meal but if you like small plates or you looking to have just an in-between meal or simply to have brunch this place will be a good option.

My first experience at Cafe Gitane was great!!! Seevice was not super fast, in case you are in a rush. The Moroccan cous cous was delicious, they offer a vegan dessert. Both indoor and outdoor dining is available. A lunch for 2 (no drinks) came up to $18 +tips. It’s also one of the few spots in Vinegar Hill, very quiet and peaceful. I will definitely go back!

Mixed feelings. The food was enjoyable, particularly the chicken satay, but the space was quite cramped and the service seemed a bit rushed. Visiting during an off-peak hour might provide a much better experience.

Despite all of the excellent reviews for Cafe Gitane, I, unfortunately, did not have a great experience. As a new local Dumbo resident, I went here with a companion on a Saturday night around 8pm. We sat outside to enjoy the last bit of summer. Service was a little slow at first, but was not a big deal. We got our wine relatively quickly and patiently waited for our food. Two of our food items came together (both appetizer-esque) and were mediocre at best. The meatballs lacked flavor as did the sauce they came in (the red sauce was thin textured and was also low in flavor). The bruschetta was all capers with a few slices of tomato mixed in. Not nearly as good as we had expected after reading all of the glowing reviews. Our main dish, the lasagna, never came. We waited until nearly an hour after being seated until we finally asked (as there was only one other table dining at that time - it should not have taken that long). A gentleman who wasn’t our server came out and said the food didn’t get entered before the kitchen closed. When I noted we had ordered about 45 minutes prior, he *then* noted that the server never put this in the order. Not particularly bothered, we said it was fine and would get our bill. The staff was kind enough to take one of our appetizers off of the bill without us asking. That was greatly appreciated. It should also be noted that a table behind us was setting a server error/dispute as we were sitting down. It seems this same server was making multiple errors throughout the evening. Overall, this was not an experience that will bring me back. As a new Dumbo resident, I have been looking for a reliable, high-quality, regular place. Based on this service and the mediocre food we had that particular evening, this will not be it.

Luc, the owner, has a horrible personality and is not a good guy, and he disgustingly breathes all over his staff. The place was cold and smelly, and the food was terrible. I highly recommend that people visit any other cafes.
