I ordered a ham, Swiss and eggs on a roll is was delish. I'm happy to have discovered this place. It was clean and inviting.
Aside of having the best coffee in the neighborhood, they are handling the current situation with excellent care and I feel very safe going there for coffee.
Great cold-brew coffee & multigrain croissants. Friendly baristas. Love sitting outside on one of their many benches and people-watching on a nice day.
Omggggg they made the most amazing latte for me the other day and im spoiled by all the small coffee shops of Williamsburg and bushwick and drink coffee like its a job
Favorite coffee shop. Quality coffee from Stumptown Roasters and lovely pastries. Always crowded but that's a good thing.
Love this place and how close it is to my apartment in Clinton Hill! Highly Recommend! Love BK!
Great interior. Friendly people. Good coffee. I miss when they used to have a more extensive food menu though.
Good coffee, good pastry and nosh, always way crowded. Not enough seats available. Baristas good, friendly.
Staff was super friendly. I had their turkey cheese sandwich; 10/10! Really cute vibe too.
Consistently good flat whites. The baristas deliver good brews both at the beginning and the end of their shift; very rare. Stumptown hair bender + La Marzocco GB5 + a consistent barista. Very nice combo. I am afraid I can’t say the same for all places, however this Hungry Ghost spot makes my day. Thanks!
An adorable, charming little gem in Brooklyn. Had a top 3 cup of hot cocoa. Clean bathroom, very friendly service, cozy spot on a rainy day. Go here!
Delicious coffee spot, serving Stumptown beans. Half a dozen small tables, a larger table for sprawling, plus some outdoor storefront seating. A good spot to hunker down and get some work done.
Oat cap was perfect temp and delicious! They also have my fav sparkling water (shoutout Saratoga!) 10/10, excited to stop by again soon
Cute little coffee shop with delicious pastries. Their coffee is amazing! The baristas are also super nice and helpful if you have any questions.
Love Hungry Ghost. Mocha latte with almond milk is my jam. I bought a package of coffee and they bring it for you!! Love that. Cute neighborhood gem in Fort Greene.
Went for a latte and as soon I listened they were playing Natalia Lafourcade, knew it was a unique spot.
Cozy coffee shop in Brooklyn. Very clean, next to a subway station, inexpensive. Few seats, but very calm in a beautiful neighborhood. I would go there again, definetely.
Enjoyed excellent coffee on a cold, sunny day. Great people and service. Look forward to returning when we're in the neighborhood.
Great, great coffee spot!!! Food is gooooooood too!! Wonderful staff as well...everyone was full of smiles so early in the morning lol!! I LOVED it!!
Hungry ghost! 20 of 10 would recommend. That’s a typo, but I stand by it. 20 of 10 would recommend. That makes little sense because it implies 10 people who have never been there would recommend it, but it’s good, thus I stand by my typo.
Gotta love when an establishment perfectly toasts their bacon egg and cheese sandwich on a croissant. The cafe cortado was as good as it gets. Big windows let in a lot of light. I'll be back.
Great place for my iced coffee, I enjoy drinking it while soaking up the rays on their outside benches. Ask for their cards which get stamped for a freebie.
Super friendly cafe with a healthy flow of people in and out. Really good music, though not too loud. Perfect place to sit for a bit or to run off
Love this coffee shop. It’s small, but their coffee is very good and every time I’ve been the staff has been very welcoming and helpful.
One of the best espresso macchiato in Brooklyn. Nice place for your 10 minutes coffee stop.
A place with amazing coffee that I keep going back to. I've been served by numerous different staff and baristas during my visits, and they are all friendly and consistently good. My go-to coffees are either a flat white, cortardo and cappuccino and I love there is a focus on qualtiy over size/volume.
Not enough seating. Servers are great and I loved the drink and pastry I got. Good spot to do work or read if you can get a seat...
Great coffee, as you could imagine, but not many outlets and not many seats. Not a great place to work - more like a stop-in, and the benches outside are great in nice weather. Neighborhood hot spot.
Excellent vanilla latte! Cute, cozy space for neighborhood coffee. Great community feel. The banana nut muffin is really good too.
I love this HG location close to Fort Greene Park. Always a good vibe. HG also serves some of the best matcha in the city and it’s always consistent location to location (big plus!). I like that they also serve Stumptown coffee and have a great selection of pastries.
Favorite local coffee shop. This is where we buy our fresh beans.
This is one of the best indie coffeehouses in Manhattan. Not necessarily THE best, but certainly ONE OF the best. Great coffee, cool chic interior, and cook chill baristas
Good coffee and a little more reasonably priced than some other places nearby!
Serene cafe with amazing coffee and baked goods. Good choices on vegan and gluten free baked goods as well. Recommend trying their almond cookies and matcha vegan loaf.
They have been open the whole time during the pandemic and even started selling alcohol drinks. Coffee is a little pricey but good. Their benches are a great spot to get some rest while not many places are offering that.
The perfect place for a delightful cappuccino and a cozy window seat in the sun
We stopped for coffee towards to the airport. The coffee has amazing taste and flavor. The customer service was polite and smilie. The vegan banana bread was super fresh and soft that mealting to your mouth. Amazing little coffee!!😇
I don't drink coffee, but I was craving hot chocolate and a croissant and they more than delivered. Croissant was so fresh, I wanted to ask if it was made in house. Hot chocolate was 10/10, though I wish they'd add a marshmallow!
This place is insane..insanely small and insanely busy. Insanely expensive and insanely good. These guys were literally working on top of each other. Three dudes. How the hell they manuvered was besides me. The coffee beans were ground fresh for each order! The customers were so patient. The average wait was well over 3 minutes for each customer and there were about fifteen people in here. There was a nice selection of pastries and baked goods-- chocolate croissants, butter croissants, cheddar scallion biscuits, salted peanut butter cookies, brownies and muffins. I had an Americano medium. I'm a simple guy but the choices are endless. The coffee was the best I have ever had superseding Philadelphia's La Colombe. That's saying a lot.
Love the coffee and also tried vegan zucchini carrot muffin and banana vegan muffin both were yum. I would like to suggest if you could add ingredients and calories too on the display or make the customer be aware of the fact what and how many calories does it have?
Coffee was very good. Hot chocolate was fluffy.
Really glad I checked out this quaint coffee shop in Brooklyn. I was meeting someone here, and figured I'd get a cozy drink while I waited and was not disappointed. The latte was not only pretty to look at, but it tasted outstanding as well. If I'm in the neighborhood again, I'd definitely come back for a return visit. The barista was also very friendly.
My neighborhood morning espresso! (Which they serve with sparkling water). Excellent Stumptown coffee and the staff is always very nice.
Great little coffee spot near the park to run in and grab a coffee while walking the dogs. I love it! Great selection of pastries also.
The hubs and I love this place we visit at least 3 times a week. He is a coffee SNOB loves a well made latte and he’s never had a bad cup here. I’m an oat matcha lover and they make it just how I like. We’ll never stray.
Excellent neighborhood cafe that has been here for over a decade. Espresso drinks are great. But what's truly outstanding are the croissants! Always fresh out of the oven, and perfectly buttery. Friendly young staff.
I love this coffee shop. They have oat milk (a lot of coffee shops still don’t carry it). They also carry vegan and gluten-free pastries. So there is something for everyone. The coffee shop is a little small but there are enough tables to sit at. There is also a bathroom for customers which is great. I got the vegan carrot muffin which was tasty and coffee with oat milk.
Tea and coffee are freshly made. The atmosphere straddles relaxed and romantic. Staff is friendly and patrons are quiet.
Good coffee. I go out of my way to get coffee there...not to mention the really nice owners and staff...they really make their customers feel special!
Perfectly fine coffee shop with a selection of snacks and light meals. Wouldn't go out of my way to get here, but would happily stop off again if I was passing by.
Great coffee. Pretty good pastries. Nice ambience. A little bit crowded, but what good place isn't in NYC?
Very busy spot. The breakfast tacos are delicious but small, so you will need to buy a few to fill up.
Great place for coffee and morning snacks. The cheddar and dill biscuits are awesome when avaliable... they go fast, so get their early.
Great coffee! They don’t have many flavors but the latte tasted well with honey!
The coffee is great, the staff is friendly, and the place is clean. But also the space is small, there is little seating and no bathroom and the sandwiches are mediocre.
Travlled to Brooklyn for work. Stopped here for a hot tea - Earl Grey. Service was excellent and very friendly. Nice location.
Love their coffee, but keep in mind if you’re going there to work, none of the Hungry Ghosts I’ve been to has power outlets in sitting areas.
Great coffee and friendly service! There are only 5 small tables and one larger one that are nearly always full. Mornings and weekends there's a line to the door although it moves fast. There are frequently children and people holding the door open to bring in strollers which makes it a bit cold in the winter and hectic to move about. It's a loud place and no wifi so not a good place to work.
Modern and bright neighborhood coffee spot where the drinks are slightly overpriced and the baked goods a tad underwhelming. Order anything that needs to be prepared by the kitchen and the chef will personally bring it out to you, and in doing so keep the link between the product and his labor unbroken.
I just saw the had matcha options right after I ordered my coffee. I'm not the biggest coffee drinker but can't wait to go back and try the matcha option. The regular coffee I did have was pretty good, a tad pricey but made well. They have Dough Donuts there and that's always a plus. Love donuts but the ones they get from Dough are very filling and delicious.
I'm updating my review. IN the past, this place eschewed friendly; this has changed. The service has been polite and friendly; the quality of the espresso is very good. The baked goods--croissants, muffins, cookies--delish. I come here at least once or a week and will continue to do so.
For a quaint coffee shop, I loved what it has. Very personal baristas, friendly patrons. But it was very small and I felt like I could not something over or bump into someone easily. I was happy to find a warm place and a hot cup of tea to take with me while waiting for my grandson to get out of class. Took my tea with me on the subway and was happy!
Nice little nook to catch up and grab coffee with a friend/ or when meeting someone for the first time!
Their drip coffee is a bit strong but the store is very nice inside. It's very aesthetically please and have a quiet while drinking your cup of joe. The coolest coffee joint in Brooklyn as far as I am concern. It's totally worth stopping by and getting a coffee here. A really small and cozy place to enjoy your coffee or tea. The best coffee shop in Brooklyn and NYC with a few stores. This may be old fashioned but they offer a punch card when you reach 10 punches, you get a free coffee.
Fun place for sure but they need to make their coffee (an Americano for me) much stronger. Wimpy and weak and didn’t do the job that an Americano is meant to do unfortunately. Up the jolt and I’d be a regular!
I don’t know. I’ve been here three times. The latest visit over the weekend they were packed. The one thing that stood out the most was the girl who was dressed like she was doing a remake of the 80’s show Fame. Her hair looked wet (I’m sure the product she used deliberately made it that way) and she was “nicesty”. I’m always one for everyone express themselves but that outfit was inappropriate. Her stomach was exposed while were tight legging and a tight halter top. However I listened to how she was talking to people and it she was short. Nice but you can tell she was annoyed. I don’ know. Then the staff were having chatting sessions while there was a line out the door. One barista making coffee. The energy in that place was cold. I definitely won’t be back.
It was quite busy, so the service was efficient. The cafe itself was very clean, well lit, and comfortable. Still, I don't really feel Stumptown coffee is worth the same price as ultra-premium offerings.
The coffee is okay The prices are high You get a large coffee ( that is actually very small) for a high price They don’t heat up pastries The place is okay Some of baristas are really sweet while others are not
Coffee was hot, hot chocolate was tasty, wouldn’t want to spend more than 15 minutes in the store. Bathrooms were clean.
Great stumptown coffee but very rude barista who worked the Saturday morning shift. I just moved to the neighborhood and will be looking to go to other shops in the area
The prices for coffee are slightly higher than they should be and they lack wifi and power outlets. Moreover, the server was passive aggressive and rude. Overall, not the kind of vibe you'd want from a cafe.
baristas were not friendly and were very off-putting. I went in with my dog and a blonde woman that worked there was friendly but the rest of the staff was very rude. I ordered an iced mocha and received a drink with no mocha. Since the drink was so expensive and I paid extra for mocha, I asked the barista for more mocha sauce and he just rolled his eyes and didn't say anything. Horrible experience. And the coffee /drink was not good. I love the hungry ghost on dekalb though. Much friendlier staff and better baristas.
this is literally the only coffee shop I've been to in NYC that won't let you wait in line to order coffee with your dog. even Starbucks drones know that it's a minor concession, most local shops have dog treats even. does this place have frequent enough visits from the health inspector that they have to be on edge all of the time?
Chill spot but the baristas were very cold towards me. I dont want to make it sound like a race thing. But sheesh it was pretty obvious when a pretty young white couple asked 100 questions about coffee they got every answer they could seek. All I did was ask about my order the dude snapped at me. I still left a tip just wont go there again. The first visit was smooth after that I got treated differently and I wasnt rude. I was patient in waiting my turn. I didnt skip any one. I even held the door open for an employee bringing in items. So to get spoken to in a manner that's not respectful was such a turn off. I'd give one star but the matcha and coffee is actually really good. Dont go there if you look "different ". That's all I can say.
The matcha was not good and way too milky. Warning that this is also no wifi.
Coffee is tasty. But we waited for someone to come out from the back, even had time to go to the bathroom and still no one at the counter. They came out once another customer arrived. Then in a rush to take the order, she missed half the order. It was only two drinks. It’s a great location but the service is lacking
Overpriced, lackluster coffee and no WiFi. There wasn’t music playing, just a screaming child. Baristas were cute, such a shame.
This location didnt open on time and they fill the iced drinks with way too much ice
Used to be great. All Hungry Ghosts used to be so consistent in their coffee preparation. No more. The one I got today was tasteless.
Horrible customer service from the barista...hungry ghost needs to teach their barista proper customer service..he did not greet us, barely wanted to answer any questions about coffee, and seem like he wanted me to hurry up and order and leave..many of the other customers were treated similarly as well..Will not be going to this coffee shop again!!!!
Very small, cozy location, and fantastic snickerdoodle cookies..BUT there is no internet, and the coffee is more than burnt and less than desirable. If you’re looking for an overpriced nyc café and don’t plan on getting work done, this is absolutely your place to be.
This place HATES their customers. No outlets, no WiFi, and how DARE you be so mainstream as to ask. If you have some sort of ‘philosophy’ against people working from your cafe that’s perfectly fine, but at least put a note on your website or Google Maps pin. And don’t be so judgey and rude if someone asks a perfectly reasonable question for a coffee shop as 95% of them in BK do have WiFi and/or outlets. Felt very judged and wanted to leave as soon as possible, unfortunately already ordered and paid by the time I asked.
the barista on July 31st Tuesday evening was very rude; super lazy & made derogatory comments towards a customer. also the music is too loud and doesn’t fit the vibe of fort greene. it’s some sort of latino rap music
The baristas are rude and will make rude comments, too lazy to make a macchiato as well. will complain and make weird remarks to one another like “haha, they want that Starbucks caramel macchiato”, like no Bethany, I know what I’m ordering. Weirdos
