Opinions de XO Taste Albee Square
A really old Gem , looks like you walked back in time with the design and menu that hasn’t changed in 30 years, same old classic like beef chow fun and noodle soup with rice rolls and Singapore Mei fan. A great place for lunch and dinner with good portions and classic Cantonese dishes that we grew up eating. We love the fresh vegetables with Garlic and tofu veggies rolls.
Food: 4.7/5 Service: 4.3/5 Value: 4.7/5 A super authentic dinner experience in Chinatown. The service was quick and efficient, which was perfect because our party was really hungry. Congee: could’ve used a bit more salt but very adjustable on our own Stir fried intestine with jalapeño: the star of the dinner for me. The sauce (I think it was Chinese bbq sauce based) was perfect and the intestines were so tender. There were also enough jalapeños that you could 1:1 ratio it with the intestine and gave it the perfect bite. Seafood noodles: absolutely loved this dish! The crunch and drenched noodles are a great contrast and they really piled up the seafood. Brings back a lot of nostalgia for the celebrations I used to attend in Asia. Shiu Mai and Chang fen and turnip cake: all the dim sum was yummy and affordable. One of the better turnip cake textures I’ve had. Also a huge shiu mai and it was super juicy. Hong Kong rice with cutlet: this was my first time having this dish and it didn’t disappoint. The rice reminded me of the egg and tomato dish my parents used to make. Combine that with a crispy cutlet and it was a great foundation for the meal. Green beans: the only disappointment of the meal. The flavor wasn’t quite there and just didn’t stand up to the way other restaurants prepare this dish. Overall this place was amazing and would definitely recommend stopping here for a hearty, family style meal.
LOVE ❤️ A Chinatown classic. The turnip cake melts in your mouth with a light crunch around the edges. The shrimp rice noodle is fresh and soft. The congee with pork and thousand year egg is creamy and comforting. The pork and chicken with taro is savory delicious. Pair it with a fresh watermelon juice for a cool, sweet treat. A++++
XO taste has been my favor, and #1 family style restaurants in nyc Chinatown! I am single. Every time I miss my Hong Kong family dinner! XO TASTE restaurant....Reminds me of the Hong Kong delicious 😋 foods They always respected me. They have treated me as part of their family. Of course I have to pay my bills, lol!😁 🫶🫶🫶👍👍👍🍺🍺
This is the fifth time I have lunch with my family, the taste is never disappointed. Try their chicken cutlet rice on hot plate. 6/21/25 Come back for lunch. This time we ordered beef stew noodles, congee and steam rice roll with roasted pork. Their food quality is still the best, I really recommend this place.
Since 1999 A classic Hong Kong style restaurant in Chinatown, one of my favorite places to dine in. The prices are very reasonable and the food is all really fresh, the service is good for what the restaurant is but it doesn’t compare to a fancy restaurant since the prices are on the lower side.
This is one of my favorite comfort spots in NYC. I visited their former location for nearly 2 decades with friends, family, and loved ones and always had a good time. I'll continue that tradition here. With that said, it does get busy here. There is a takeout station in the front and dining inside the building. They have 2-3 menus and also have pictures of their dishes on the walls to make ordering easier. You can use a card or cash, I just prefer cash because it's faster when the restaurant is packed.
You can find the best Hong Kong style tea with milk here. It’s a popular spot in China Town, full house when we arrived for lunch around 2:30 pm. Price is reasonable, the Hong Kong style dishes are delicious. This has been my China Town go to place for almost 20 years. Don’t expect good atmosphere here though, you can hear the waitresses talked loudly to each other from both ends of the restaurant…
Never came here and was not satisfy. They give plenty of food for the price they charge which I don't believe is expensive. They have two location where the other one is right around the corner of the block but I like this one better. More spacious and seating is not so cramped. This is just my opinion but I never compared but I think this location serve more of the dinner dishes. But I did go to the other location before they open this place so both are good.
Me and my family came here for dinner while visiting Chinatown. The food was delicious and authentic, served at good portions and with a wide variety of choices on the menu (LOTS of different dishes to choose from!). Nice, ambient and well-decorated atmosphere. Good service, the staff were polite and attentive. Very affordable dining price, as well, which we also appreciated. Been here before many years ago and glad to know that this business is still doing well! Overall a good Chinese restaurant dining experience.
The food was really good and the decorations were cool. I wish the place was a little cleaner because there was a thick layer of dust on a lot of the lights. I also wish the staff smiled more to make customers feel more welcomed. I recommend the rice noodle wrapped oil sticks with soy sauce and the xialongbao. I also saw one of the staff pull out what I think was a vape and hit it. Overall it was a pretty good experience and would definitely come again 💗
The food was all great! 😋 the portions were huge too. I was there with a couple of friends. One who speaks Chinese so she spoke with the staff. They seemed nice enough. The eggplant dish was my favourite! There was another one too which I loved but can’t remember the name of. It was a type of dumpling with a crispy filling! Delicious!
The food was mostly mid, I only really liked the turip cakes. Everything felt a bit too salty. The menu was way too big and kinda overstimulating. I would recommend other hong kong cafes in the area.
Huge menu but not everything is worth ordering. I find their plain porridge and fried dough to be the best of all. For classic cha chaan teng dishes, there are much better options around.
Steam shrimp dumping didn’t use the shrimp instead it’s more like ground shrimp/ shrimp purée, the skin was also too soft that wasn’t chewy at all. Steam spareribs were okay except the awkward flavor, unsure if it’s because of the taro Sliced fish congee was the only dish a little above average Sliced beef rice noodle tasted okay but too greasy, you could see the oil floating on top of the soy sauce Last straw made me deciding to never return was the “mandatory 18% tips” already added to the bill when it’s brought to our table and it’s “calculated AFTER TAX”. Cashier explained it’s only “a couple cents difference” so they didn’t change the system as it’s too complicated. I would forgive you for this excuse if you have put 1% more energy to make the food better.
DO NOT COME HERE!! Ordered their Tom yum Thai style noodles and noticed that the egg was moldy!!! The waitress offered to swap the egg but we declined because we’ve lost our appetite. When the bill came, they didn’t offer to cancel the order with the moldy egg or offered any compensation. Usually, 18% gratuity is included which is already eh but apparently it wasn’t this time. We then got asked to pay for tip TWICE as we were leaving. Might even be sick after eating. This is insane!!
