Opinions de Teado Tea Shop New York
amazing place inside is very decorated with anime stuff and other cool figures he gave us samples and was chill
The best almond tea I ever had. They use lactaid milk so lactose intolerants like me can enjoy. They didn’t have bubbles though, I went at 11:40 but I got brown sugar jelly instead. The person in charge told me that bubbles are ready at 12:30. I was given a small cup with a sample to try it first so you can adjust your sugar level that was nice. Also due to covid just one person or two are allowed at the time. They also got books if you know mandarin.
This place is great! Currently my favorite milk tea shop in the area. The quality of ingredients tastes fresh and well-proportioned. They take their time when making your drink, and will even have you take a "shot" of your drink midway through the preparation process to ensure that you're satisfied with the sweetness and flavor. The shop is beautifully decorated as well. The major downside is how long you have to wait for service. They only allow one person/group in at a time, which means you have to stand/sit outside if there's someone inside. I've had to wait up to 30 minutes before. There is one bench, and no other outdoor or indoor seating.
I didn’t even know bubble tea can be that good. The lichee grapefruit green tea is a must try.
Great tea with lots of selections, and you can take a sip before you take away! The osmanthus oolong milk tea is really good, refreshing flavor with floral ascent. Although it only allows one party to enter the store for ordering currently, and you might need to wait for a bit to get your drink, but it worths a short wait! A recommended boba store in the area!
This stuff is absolutely worth the wait. Everything I've had has been extremely delicious and refreshing. Their fruit tea is really out of this world with a balanced and sophisticated flavour. Their tapioca pearls have a nice sweetness and are on the softer side. Unfortunately, there's only one drink size and it's quite small. I wish there was a larger size because I'm always left wanting more!
EXCELLENT customer service. Everything on the menu is thoughtful and customizable; they give you a taste of the drink in a little shot glass-sized cup to double check that you're okay with the sweetness. They're also very safe and cautious about COVID; only one party goes inside at a time, and they also spray your hands with hand sanitizer. We ordered an iced passionfruit green tea with lychee jelly - the perfect drink for a hot day
If you're after bubble tea / boba with very authentic and tasty teas, Teado is an excellent option for you! Owners are very nice and provided great service. You'll get an opportunity to taste your drink to make sure it suits your sugar preferences too. Nice little customer oriented touch! They serve some snack foods too which looked good but I haven't tried them. I'll be back for more!
This place is severely under-reviewed for what it is. There are always lines out the door whenever I pass by. The tea quality and staff are great. The staff really cares about their delivery and quality and it shows when they kept giving us a sample of our order and ask us whether it’s good. The flavor, quality and staff is all exceptional. I will be back again!
I’ve been going here since they opened! The owners are so personable. I went in and ordered my mom's usual with 25% sugar, and the owner responded, 'It's for your mom? She does 20%.' There's always a line because of their one group at a time policy, but it's soooo worth the wait. I will always choose this place over chain stores. they even give you a sample of your drinks after you order so you can tell them to adjust the tea strength or sweetness level.
Service is amazing! I even got to taste my tea and make adjustments to it before getting my order. That said, tea was fragrant and refreshing. Highly recommend!
literally the BEST bubble tea I've ever had in my life, the tapioca pearl were the most incredible I've had, just perfectly cooked im not kidding. I had a hot sesame bubble tea, 10/10 would recommend. the guy working there was nice and cooked quickly. the place in itself is tiny, you can't have your tea inside. the decoration is super cute with lots of plants.
The workers were SO kind!! They let us sample our drinks and the onigiri was so tasty. 100% Recommend if you’re in the area! ⭐️
try one new milktea store. The little store is cute. I very very very love this kind of milktea. It has a very delicate layer of cream on the top. ( I very like this cream. Ps: It is important thing say three time. 😋) With pudding in the milk tea.(Pudding is different from other homes. It tastes like corn.)It also has many different flavors of milk tea, as well as snacks. I can try another next time.
The best service I've ever had at a tea shop! The staff let you taste test the drink you order before they make the whole thing, which is amazing and something I've never experienced as a standard. You can only enter one party at a time which made it fun for the group I was traveling with. The drinks were perfect! I've never tried Taro before my visit here but one of my friends ordered it and it was so good! I ordered a Strawberry and Orange flavored Jasmine Tea with rainbow jelly and I really enjoyed it! My brother ordered Onigiri and it smelled so good, super well priced too. If you're looking for affordable Boba Tea with great service in the city, I 100% recommend this place first!! 🧋
A very small hole in the wall but very clean and adorably made up with various anime characters all over the place. The barista will make you a beverage to your liking with sweetness and ice - but they also allow you to test taste it before they pour it into the final cup! I’ve never seen before at a Boba spot. I think it’s really smart (less waste) and I appreciated that feature! Also the sign on the door about one group at a time is not left over from Covid days, it is still the required practice in 2024. Amazing taro boba.
Best bubble tea in NYC hands down. The boba is the perfect flavor and texture. You are also given a small sample of your order and you can adjust things as needed. The green tea is never bitter, which can’t be said everywhere… Their onigiri is great too! I suggest getting the cucumber one.
Probably one of the best boba tea spots I've been to. Loved my drink, jasmine milk tea - boba was freshly made at noon and the tea flavor shone through. The best part was the service - my friends and I were able to taste what our drinks tasted like before getting the whole cup, in case we wanted to adjust anything. Matcha clouddo was great too! I've never had that done before and it was a great touch. The onigiri was also really good! Highly recommend!
As a Taiwanese who’s big on to-go tea, I was looking for a store that would serve quality drinks. This store was great! The staff made us sample the drink before creating it fully. Amazing service and drink. The bobba was also cooked well with the right sugar level. Will come back when in this area.
Small cozy tea shop with some of the best milk tea I’ve had. This is a tea shop with amazingly brewed milk tea, as opposed to regular boba shops that serve sugary drinks.
A MUST VISIT!!! This place is literally amazing. I got the earl gray black tea with brown sugar flavoring and tapioca boba as well as a mango ice slushy with a green tea base and tapioca boba. The service was amazing, with a sample to test the sweetness while it’s being made. This place is well worth waiting a few minutes in line and making a special trip to Chinatown.
I like bubble tea where you can taste the actual tea flavor, and teado definitely delivered on that. When I got to teado there was one person ahead of me. That gave me time to read their extensive menu, which was also written in a very tiny font. I got the jasmine oolong milk tea with less ice. The man working the store answered all my questions. And I was surprised to see that the milk used in the milk tea was Lactaid. I was given a sample of my tea so that I could adjust it to my liking. Overall fantastic experience at this shop and loved the care that was put into crafting my drink. The only thing is that wait can be long since it takes a few min to make each drink.
Went to this tea shop for the first time it is a wonderful small little tea shop great staff tea is always made with care and perfectly to your liking they even give you a sample to see if you need or want any adjustments as they prepare your order they have a great wide selection of teas hot and cold bobba and a whole lot more i definitely recommend you visit this teashop.
Wonderful little tea shop that appears to be family run. We had the ice slush litichi and grapefruit, also tried the rose and the mango slush and a hot Dragon Wellness green tea. We love how they give you a small taster to check it has the right sweetness or brew strength before they serve it to you. Very relaxing inside while you wait for your tea, and there is a park opposite for great people watching while you enjoy your tea.
The drink is worth the long line. As mostly they only have 1-2 people working inside. Customer can only come one by one. And when we get inside and order, they would serve your drink in a tiny cup to taste before puting it in the big cup in case you need more sugar or anything. Overall its always our go to boba place
Awesome, awesome tea shop! The tea tastes super fresh and the store experience is great because they let you taste samples with your choice of sweetness level before deciding upon your final drink choice. This is not a common experience in bubble tea shops so it really feels like a tailored experience!
One of my most favorite places to get boba tea in Manhattan. The shop belongs to a very nice young couple who make everything from scratch so everything is very fresh. They only have one location in Chinatown, so every time I go, I buy 4 drinks at a time to last me for the week! Yes, that's how much I love the tea here. Its a hidden gem in Chinatown. @traveleen_gurl
Delicious tea and great service, they let you try a small bit of the tea beforehand to make sure it is to your desired sweetness.
This place has the best drinks I’ve ever had! I got the litchi and grapefruit juice and rose milk tea and both had an amazing tea flavor and the drinks were super refreshing. Each drink tastes like it was made with a lot of effort. The owner is really nice and I was able to easily customize my drink. I wish I could come here everyday, I would never get tired of it 😅
I have been coming here ever since my sister introduced me when I was in 6th grade. I have seen the owner get a little older since, but the wind special has remained delicious. The first drink shop to use lactaid milk & have a variety of tea bases. It is unfortunate I can only swing by annually.
I came here for the very first time and it was also during a date with a girl that I really like. The atmosphere is very comforting and the staff is super nice. One very unique thing about this bubble tea shop is that they let you do a taste test of the drink you ordered to see if you like it. I love it
Matcha slush with litchi (lychee) jelly was so so good! They did not skimp on quality. The sample they give you to try allows them to tailor the sweetness level to your liking. Nice touch of personalization. Unfortunately Boba ran out by 3pm. Definitely going back for boba! This is the daughter’s message lol: This boba was so good I literally drank half of it in 7 minutes!! I really loved the atmosphere and the staff was incredibly nice. Hoping to come back for more!
I went here once when I first moved to NYC years ago and for some reason I didn't go back again until today. I regret not having gone back sooner. The barista literally gives you a sample of the tea you ordered presumably to allow you to make any adjustments before you get the final order. Where else are you going to get that? I've personally never experienced that at any other tea shop. They take their tea making seriously here. I got myself a peanut milk tea because I had never seen that offered anywhere so I wanted to try it. It was good! Next time I'll try something more traditional. I should also mention that this isn't just a milk tea spot. They have pure teas here as well (along with fruit teas and slushies) and I'll go for one of those on my next visit. They also have the Hong Kong style thick toast but I didn't try that yet. They also only use Lactaid milk. I don't understand how in 2025 there are so many tea shops that don't have Lactaid as an option. In fact, that is the vast majority of tea shops. HEYTEA is great but they don't even have a single milk alternative. And the tea shops that *do* have milk alternatives usually don't have Lactaid. Most often the alternatives will be almond or oat and those drastically change the flavor of the drink, usually for the worse. Lactaid preserves what the drink is supposed to taste like and, obviously, without the lactose. Over two thirds of the global population is lactose intolerant [1] and among Asian Americans that fraction goes up to 9/10 [2, 3]. It's nice to see a tea shop that is with the times and understands that the other milk alternatives just ain't it. Also, other tea shops will make you pay extra just to get the milk alternative. So you're basically paying more to get an inferior tasting drink (albeit lactose-free). At Teado you also don't have to pay extra to get your drink hot like at some other places. The only downside that I noticed thus far is that there isn't really a place to sit and drink. Oh well. That seems to be very common for tea shops here. Another very important thing to note is that as far as I know, this is a small business unlike many of the other tea shops in Chinatown. I admittedly enjoy a few of those brands but it is clearly better from a societal standpoint to spend your money at a small business like this. In case Google filters out URLs, I'm putting my citations in a highly nonstandard way: [1] National Institute's of Health. Search: "what percentage of the world is lactose intolerant" [2] Boston Children's Hospital. Search: "lactose intolerance among asian americans" [3] Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago. Search: "lactose intolerance among asian americans"
My favorite local tea shop. Sometimes no wait and other times way out the door. They use a lactose free milk and let you sample the tea for sugar level so you can alter it before it’s completed.
A friend recommended this place because of their super cheap brick toast! Teado is a small shop located in NYC Chinatown. They had a line...only one group could order at a time and you have to wait for that group to receive their order. Though the line was only 4-5 groups (9ish people), I still waited 45 minutes on a Saturday afternoon. I passed by around a Wednesday afternoon and saw no wait though My condensed french toast ($3.50) was absolutely worth the wait. It was toasted perfectly and not burnt. They added just the right amount of condensed milk so it wasn't soggy. I also tried their oolong milk tea since I guess people also wait for drinks only. It was good but nothing special, would definitely come back for the french toast if there's no line lol.
Simply Wow! Hidden gem. Truly made to order service, one drink-at-a-time. Our friends and family call us boba tea addicts. We say, boba tea aficionados with discerning tastes. One of the last place, if not the last, which did it right. He catered to our individual taste buds and ensured that we each liked our own drink, with a sample before completion. We were here for spring break April '22. Part of the mission was to do a West Coast vs East Coast (NYC, CT, BOS, RI) challenge. This place represented well! 10/10 for excellent service and milk tea (boba 9/10). We liked it so much that we had to alter our itinerary and returned the following day. Note: need to be patient as drinks were custom made (we waited 20mins 2nd time).
Had the matcha milk tea with red bean served cold. Very good. I want to try the hot taro milk tea with bubbles next time. 4/9/22: Had the kumquat lime juice (very good, but I can make homemade limeade that tastes similar so wouldn't order again) and the brown sugar latte (but decaf so no coffee in it and with clouddo cream on top) which was excellent and I would order again. 5/26/22: Had the cold grapefruit yogurt drink with green tea base. It's quite good, though the yogurt portion is very minimal. It tastes more like a grapefruit flavored iced tea. 6/5/22: Milk tea clouddo
Small bubble tea shop that has an amazing tea selection and flavors. They really care about their customers well-being and limit 1 party to be in the shop at all time. They also provide you with a small cup sample for you to gauge the level of sweetness, which I find very thoughtful. Overall, love this place and recommend everyone to stop by for drinks after maybe visiting Wah Fung right around the corner.
Found this place wondering around and I’m glad we found this. It’s so homey and just relaxing in there. There so so many options for drinks and even combining flavors. They also without asking give you a small sample of your drink to taste to see if it’s to your liking which is just amazing. The care that this shop has for its customers and products I would recommend 100 times over and it’s not expensive for what it’s worth. ❤️🔥 Will be coming back Btw the drink I got was a green apple slushie with jasmine oolong tea added 10/10
The most personal feeling shop out there. I also love how delicious it is. Compared to a lot of the shops in Manhattan which have become so watered / milked down, filled with too much sugar, and layered with processed ingredients… Teado Tea Shop stands tall. So fresh, so personalized, so delicious.
Unexpectedly amazing spot! Ordered some Jasmine Oolong Milk Tea and a Wind's special with passion fruit and black tea. The service was top notch, and I probably will not see anything like it in a long time. The experience is quite unique since you get to try your tea before it gets poured into it's cup. The wait could be a little long, but that is to be expected as taking good care of customers takes time. Just be patient and you will be rewarded with amazing tea!
Delicious milk tea, and they give you a sample based on your order so you can still adjust the sugar level even after ordering which is great.
This was truly the best bubble tea EXPERIENCE I've ever had in my life. They take one person/group at a time, thus the long wait. But it's completely worth it. Once in, they ask you what type of bubble tea you like and guide you through their vast menu. They prepare your bubba, and make you taste a sample to make sure you like it, or to see if there's anything you want to adjust (sweetness, consistency). The ingredients we're soo fresh and the bubba tasted great. We also took the onigiri, which are freshly made in front of you. We couldn't decide which flavor to get so the employee was kind enough to make one of each and wrote on the package what each flavor was. She also included gloves so we could eat them without dirtying our hands, which was so thoughtful. The whole thing was a lovely experience. This place is a must try if you're in Chinatown.
They only allow one group at a time in the store so your time ordering feels like a really customized experience. I felt really calm and relaxed inside and looked through a small shelf of japanese manga while I waited. They gave us samples of our drinks before giving it to us to make sure we liked it. The teas are cheap and pretty good. I got fruity drink #2 with grapefruit and lychee and aloe. You can make some of the drinks sparkling, which I have never had before!!! It was amazing. My boyfriend got oolong lemon tea and loved his. That doesn’t usually happen. So yes, I’d come back :))) thank u so much for a nice experience.
I’ve never had an artisanal tea experience until we came here. As others have shared, it’s a small shop and point is not rapid service. We were asked specific questions about what we wanted from our drinks and the proprietor let us all sample our drinks before he finished making them. It was a lovely experience.
You can choose how strong you want your tea. The service is friendly, and they even let you taste a sample or adjust the sweetness before serving.
Cozy space. I really like their place vibe. And people also nice. They gave you for taste. I rice balls were super fresh they make each time when someone order. Also for 8 dollars you have three different flavors.
Teado Tea Shop is a hidden gem in the bustling neighborhood of NYC’s Chinatown. The tea quality was superb, and the pricing was very reasonable. This little mom and pop shop’s owners are kind and talkative and they let you sample the drink you ordered before they make the complete beverage to ensure that you’re happy with the taste of your drink. Seating is limited, but they use the space they have to their full advantage. The vibe of the space is beautiful and homey, with unique decorations lining the walls. A neighborhood staple, this lively tea shop is a must visit on your trip to Chinatown.
Teado Tea Shop is an amazing little shop! It is cute, quiet, quick, and delicious. It is worth the price. The rice in the onigiri is soft and full of flavor. Everything is freshly made and it tastes authentic. They even let you taste your tea and adjust it to your liking. I would give this place 6 stars if I could!!! Absolutely wonderful. Amazing quality, freshness, and quickness.
Delicious milk tea and boba! The tea flavor is very strong and they really use premium, fresh tea leaves. The tapioca itself is SO good. My husband who doesn’t like boba really enjoyed the drink. You can tell that this place values quality. Everything about it feels very authentic. It’s awesome too that they give you a taste to check the sugar levels! They are so reasonably priced. My new favorite tea shop in Downtown Manhattan!!!
Came in early on a weekend morning 11.30am and there was no queue, but boba was not ready. Bummer. I had the $7 for 3 onigiri (shrimp, fish tofu and crab meat) and the rice balls were delicious. It’s a one-man-operation so the person behind the counter couldn’t serve others while preparing my onigiri. There is seating to wait and quaint decor to appreciate while waiting though.
Very yummy drink and food. I got the jasmine and oolong tea with milk. Strongest most flavorful oolong I think I ever had I almost wasn’t ready for it. They let me taste it and add extra sugar to the cup. Tea also travels very well and tasted great when I heated it up at home. Don’t skip on the food ether rice balls where tasty my favorite is the eel it has lots of nice sauce. Thick toast is so so good condensed milk that just soaks into the bread like caramel and coconut on top reminded me of those little coconut caramel candies. Even if there were no drinks I’d come back for thick toast alone. By the way will be back it’s good enough to warrant leaning Staten Island
Got the taro milk tea with egg pudding and boba. This tea was something special like completely different from any taro milk tea ive ever had but in the best way possible like this tea caressed my taste buds so sensually that I had no control over vacuuming it all down. Boba was soft and the pudding couldve been a bit creamier but was still really nice.
Barista was great! He recommended the mango and green tea slush (middle) and the passion fruit green tea slush (left). The milk tea was great as well. He gives you a sample of your drink to see if you like it before he wraps the drink! You can taste a strong tea flavor and it was a great balance
The service is excellent—they take the time to make each drink just right for your taste. You can really tell they use high-quality ingredients, and everything feels super fresh. The flavors are well-balanced, not overly sweet, and totally customizable. Definitely worth the wait if you’re looking for legit, handcrafted bubble tea. Would come back in a heartbeat!
Tiny but super cute little shop with boba, various teas that you can customize to your liking. They always give you a little taste before you commit to the sugar %. We also got 3 mini 🍙 for $7 that was absolutely delicious and fresh. Their thick toast with condensed milk & coconut 🤤 must try!
Back here again and it’s still delicious. Updated with some new toys they have up 💚 Experience/Environment: My goal while in NY was to get boba every day. The decor in here was super cute. Action figures and legos that I super appreciate. The baby stroller was a funny touch. Takeout only and there is barely any standing space. Price: Fair. 6$ ish. Pretty average for boba theses days. Food: I had an oolong tea with ginger and boba. DEEELICIOUS. He made it perfect sweetness, nice ginger flavor, boba was nice and sweet, and best of all — temperature was perfect to drink as soon as I received it. Not too hot but still nice and toasty to keep me warm. Service: The guy was a little quiet but he was nice. Answered my question on the menu, offered to “fix” the drink if the 75% sweetness wasn’t sweet enough. NTT [[Next Time Try]]: My next go to would be a lemon and honey tea. I’ll give that a whirl next time. Thank me later ;) Smile, eat, hydrate. Live honest and don’t settle. Hope to see you out there! xo
Best Boba tea I have had in Chinatown for sure! The customer service is sublime✨They take their time with each customer to explain the menu thoroughly and try to match the tea with a flavor that compliments your palate. This was my first experience with Boba tea and I'm glad I decided to try it on a whim. The experience is personalized to each individual. The decor inside is beautiful and there is a sanitation station as soon as you enter. The flavor of the tea is pure and free of any added and unnecessary sugars. It is absolutely delicious and I feel is a true display of the beauty of Chinatown💜 If you are in Chinatown for tea, this is a must stop.
Interesting experience for a simple Bubble Tea. Excellent service and customized tea for your taste buds. You didn't like the sample that's made to your order, simply say so and they will change it to make your needs. Expect to see a bit of wait as they only let one party at a time into the store to serve. All the wait is worth it though. If you are a party of more than 4, it may be hard to fit in the place. Of course you all get to take out your orders.
Probably my favourite bubble tea shop in the city — especially in Chinatown (which says a lot!) The tea was terrific — I don't think I've ever had a more enjoyable experience. The owner of the shop was very friendly, and gave wonderful tips as to what I should order. He provided a sample of the tea to ensure it was sweetened to my liking, and the tea was very well done. The decor of the shop is also very cute — it certainly felt like a very cozy tea shop, much different from many of big tea chain shops nearby. I would highly recommend this place, and will definitely be back!
Been to other bubble tea places and the quality beats out every other place. I can taste the difference and I’m not a bubble tea expert by any means. The owner really takes care of you in a professional and efficient way. It’s an intimate experience since only one customer is allowed in the space at at time. He ensures you like the drink with a little taste before he completes it. The only downside is the wait because of the 1 customer at a time policy. This is a take out only place. Will be returning.
They offer an extremely polite service that does not rush into taking orders. They serve you to taste before making your tea, which is a service that most places do not offer. Unfortunately the bobas were too small and I didn't get enough coffee flavor in my coffee based drink.
Small little bubble tea shop in Chinatown with amazing flavours and the strength of tea was really nice though honestly I thought it would be stronger as I was comparing it to Tea Shop Express back home in Sydney (the teas here are powerful and I highly recommend if you ever come visit!). But it was still an enjoyable experience - super fresh and lactose free milk is used. Do note that it's only one group inside the shop at a time so you will need to wait outside. Also they take a bit longer to make it but they give you a sample to ensure you enjoy the taste.
Want to taste what you had ordered? Then this is the spot. I've been passing by this tea shop and noticed there's always a line, so one day I didn't see anyone waiting and decided to try it out. The shop is small but decorated with lots of cute figurines. They only allow 1 party at a time because it is quite tight inside. The selection is vast, so you can definitely find something. The thing I noticed that I dont see at other tea shops is that you can choose the intensity of the tea. Other shops are just ice and sugar level selections. After you decide on your order, they would make it and let you taste what you order to see if the levels are good before pouring it into the full cup. I did enjoy what I got, which was the Jasmine green tea, because I like something milky, so paired with the default, strong tea was perfect since green tea is light. The milk was not overbearing, so I still was able to taste the tea. Would I come back? I would, but not if I see a line out the door. If you do try it out, let me know what you think, and they also have onigiri if you want some snacks to go with your tea.
It’s very hard to get a good Taro tea, but this place was perfect! The aroma, texture and sweetness were perfect. The lady makes you taste the boba sweetness before packing it up. I will say, the sweetness at this shop is significantly lower than other shops (which I like!). Definitely coming back to try more :)
It was my first time trying Bubble Tea and I should say its flavor was flavorful and wonderful with a super nice and neat person that managing there. I choosed seasam with black tea base and 3 rice balls with meat and seafood tasts and coconut toast. It is so cozy and small in china town area and for sure you will enjoy it. But it takes so long to give a service to one person so let you wait too long outside as do let just enter one by one.
I can’t believe I waited 30 minutes for milk tea… and it was only ok. I appreciate the effort to customize the sweetness and strength of the tea inside the shop, but waiting in line for a cup was so boring. We got the sesame MT, oolong MT, rose MT, and assam MT. All were ok, I’ve had better before. They gave sample cups after each adjustment to sweetness. The sesame was a bit gritty and the rest were just fine. I don’t think I’d wait in line again to get this tea, although it is really cheap. I do want to mention that the decor inside is so odd and I love it. Floating iron man behind a picture of an egg? Amazing
The sweetest boba shop owner ever! I couldn’t decide whether 50% or 100% sweetness would work best for my fruit tea, and without me even asking, he offered samples of both versions. I ended up choosing 75%, and it was absolutely perfect. Such thoughtful, genuine service — A+ boba owner!
