Pop’s Mediterranean Food What an incredible surprise to stumble upon this unassuming little restaurant! My wife was craving Mediterranean cuisine, and after a quick search, she found Pop’s on Main Street. Ordering takeout was a breeze, thanks to their simple and well-organized menu. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed—the restaurant was spotless, and the staff was warm, professional, and efficient. Our food was ready on time, carefully packaged with all the necessary sauces and utensils. We opted for the chicken and steak combo with hummus and the gyro plate—both dishes exceeded our expectations. The portions were generous, the flavors rich and authentic, and every bite was absolutely delicious. This place is a true hidden gem, and we’ll definitely be coming back for more!
We had a chicken kabob bowl with salad and a chicken schwarma plate. The chicken was moist and flavorful. Rice was buttery. It came with the fluffiest pita I’ve ever eaten! I generally skip pitas, but would have eaten both if I didn’t have to share. Good sized portions, especially for the price. Restaurant was clean. Service was good. What’s not to like?
We ordered take out , it was the best chicken shawarma I’ve had in a long time . Generous portions and so much flavor ! We will be back again .
Incredible new Mediterranean spot!!! This will definitely become a regular spot we go to. Open for lunch and dinner so you can hit it any time. The entire plate was great and offers an awesome mix of food. I LOVED the steak kebab!!! It felt like I was eating a steak at a fine dining restaurant. Also we brought our dog and they were dog friendly!
Literally the top 1 Mediterranean food for me. My mom and brother also enjoyed our Luke and everything!
Amazing Mediterranean place ! The staff is welcoming and very nice . The quality is just so good . I recommend the beef koubideh 🔥. We Will come back very very soon
First time here. I will come back to try more. The food is good with friendly service.
Quick, simple, and really delicious Mediterranean food. Just try it and don't forget the garlic sauce.
Ordered the chicken plate the food (rice, salads, chicken, pita bread, and condiments) were excellent. Excellent flavors even the condiments were right to the point! Will definitely make this my weekly stop!
Food is very good and the pitas are especially tasty! Seating is limited and can get busy during the lunch rush.
I tempered my expectations even with the good reviews because I've only had "decent" Mediterranean food in my area but nothing that totally impressed me. I have to say however, this place is LEGIT! I loved it so much I came back the next day. First time I had a salmon skewer and falafel (which is bomb) and today I ordered a beef bowl for delivery- and I couldn't resist more falafel. I love that they offer it as a 2 piece side. So happy this place is filling a much needed deficit for this type of cuisine in the East LA area and the prices are very decent too! This will be a go-to when I'm too lazy or busy to cook for sure.
Wife and I decided to check out this new spot and were pleasantly surprised by how good it was! We got the Gyro Plate (Half Rice/Salad) & Chicken Schwarma Pita Sandwich. The meats were seasoned well without being too salty and had a nice crisp texture without being burnt. Pita bread was fluffy. Hummus was how we like it. They were generous to give us each a free sample of their falafel, they were bite sized but still very soft inside! The garlic sauce was delicious but strong, don’t try to kiss someone after lol. Will go back when we’re craving something different than asian food!
When... Sunday, lunch What... Pop's Plate (chicken & beef kebabs) Falafel plate Where... Pop's Fresh Mediterranean 525 W Main St, Alhambra, CA 91801 (across Lunasia) The Good... The chicken kebab... Sooo tender and juicy. It was surprisingly the best meat! The gryo... Also very tender with some crisp edges from the flat top The packets of sumac... This is a delicious garnish herb that goes with EVERYTHING in the plate. Citrousy fruity seasoning. Grilled tomatoe... There's not a lot of places that serve this, very good addition to the plate. The cucumber tomato salad... Not to vinegary like other places, just right for the meal. The pita bread... Yes, you've heard about it. It is TRUE... Literally, pillowy soft! They claim to order from a small bakery... The Bad... Not much bad so far. The Meh... The only thing is the hummus was not very garlicky. The Conclusion... This is a new business and their initial food offerings are GREAT. Everything tasted good and fresh. Please keep it up and we'll have one more good Mediterranean option in the SGV, at least one closer to my home. Yay!
This place has THE BEST Falafels that I have ever tasted in my life, I’m in heaven right now. Go get food here ASAP 10/10
Absolutely amazing! Upon entry we were greeted with a pleasant hello and big smile from a sweet lady with glasses. We expressed to her how it was our first time there and she was excited to explain the menu to us. She explain the plates in detail, and I picked the chicken pita sandwich and my husband chose the double meat plate which I believe is called "pops special." Our food was made to order, it was so so fresh and portions were filling. Homemade garlic paste was to die for as it has a spicy twang to it. For drinks we chose pops homemade peach ice tea and OMG. We actually bought more to take home, it's SOO GOOD! Me, being 9 months pregnant, was so satisfied with this meal it required a nap when I got home. Thank you for the excellent service and outstanding meal!!! We will be back ❤️ p.s. i added a pic of the Iced tea. You will NOT be disappointed!
Great family business serving fresh, tasty food. Everything was prepared well, our order was accurate and the prices were very fair.
It should be against the law to serve food this good. This is THE BEST Mediterranean food I’ve had in years. The spices on the meat, the juicy tenderness and the way they cook it. And believe me you have never seen pita bread like this. Everything was sensational. Will definitely come back.
Very good. I'm walking distance so I'll try to make it here more. Glad I got a local Mediterranean spot so close to me now
We came on Sunday! This place is an absolute gem! The food was amazing—fresh, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. But what really makes it special is the incredible kitchen crew. You can feel the family atmosphere, especially with Mama in the kitchen while her sons cook up some of the best Mediterranean dishes. It’s heartwarming to see how well everyone gets along—it truly adds to the experience. Having a great local Mediterranean spot like this is such a treat. Definitely will come back! Highly recommend!
Oh my goodness this place is gooooood. Fresh, moist, cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious. Consistent quality and the staff is the best!
This is the best Mediterranean food! The chicken is always perfect and juicy. The pita is thick and fresh! The Hummus is amazing! I get the chicken plate all the time and it’s enough for 2 meals for me. I’ve tried other places but it’s never as good as Pops!
The chicken plate with half rice, salad and hummus is delicious and savory. All the food is very flavorful!
We own a sober lounge and restaurant down the street (Free Spirited) and I was super hungry because we were doing inspections and such and couldn't cook. I'm usually can't go out to many places because of my gluten allergy but I was hopeful when I saw such great reviews. We drove a little over a mile down Main and didn't see it at first (the signage is there but somehow we just missed it). Parking in the afternoon was super easy which was awesome because I'm pregnant and sick feeling when hungry so the fact that I could literally hop out of the car and walk right in was incredibly nice. Owning our own restaurant is tricky. We often go out and eat an are disappointed in the food. Not here! I got the gyro plate and my goodness, not only are the portions big (I got 2 meals out of it which is amazing), the food was so good. The rice is to die for! Every bite was delectable! The lemon dressing was so good even my dog loved the salad (I share dinner at home with my pups). The takeaway here: I have a new regular spot for when I am hungry and need good filling food :D! So excited that it's so close and not on the busy part of Main St ^_^! Plus when I ordered and let them know about the gluten allergy they made sure to check all ingredients to make sure I was safe. That rarely happens anywhere. Thank you ♡.
Wow blown away!! Didn’t have much expectations going into it but was craving Mediterranean. The place is nice and clean with ample seating. My partner and I shared the pops plate and it’s btw a steal at 21.99. But we were blown away by how good the food was. The owners were so nice and happy and it made for a great experience. Been to a lot of Mediterranean restaurants in the area and also when I worked in nyc for 5 years but this place left me surprised speechless. Rice was aromatic and soft and the beef/chicken were tender and delicious. I recommend eating there rather than take out because it came out steaming from the kitchen!! I hope they add baba ganoush to the menu in the future but either way I’ll def be back
The salmon plate I ordered was delicious!!! Yummy pita bread! Such generous portions, I took food home for lunch tomorrow! I will definitely return to savor other dishes!!!
I was in Alhambra and was looking for a place that sold gyros. Found it! They had other food too. I ordered my gyro and my sister ordered a beef dish. The food was tasty. The owner was there and was very friendly. He said he hadn't been in business long, but he could have fooled me because there were several others ordering and picking up food. We found parking right in the front. Everything was easy and worth trying a new place.
The food is excellent, good prices and the service was great. The humus is delicious 🤤😋
Recommend 100%! For the price you’re paying, it can easily be split into two meals to save some money. A much better alternative for those who would like a bowl but not prefer Chipotle. Chicken was cooked properly and tender, portion size was very generous. Staff were very friendly and parking on site.
While visiting my Bff, we decided to have a Mediterranean lunch and tried this new place in Alhambra. The beef and chicken kebabs were so tender and tasty, as were the gyro and falafel. The hummus and toum were delicious. They make their own Pita bread, thick and fluffy, and come out still warm. Everything was so delicious. I will come again if I'm in the area.
Wow!! Went back after 6 months, this place still feels shockingly good!!! The pita, the kebab, the hummus. I’m in tears. Front Desk person Garo K was super nice without being overly pretentious. Sorry didn’tip you today.
Stopped by this cozy little Mediterranean spot, and wow—it did not disappoint! The chicken and beef skewers were super juicy and packed with flavor, and the rice, hummus, and that creamy garlic sauce pulled everything together perfectly. It’s the kind of food that feels homemade but with a little extra magic. We will definitely be back again!
This place is the real deal. Authentic food prepared with quality ingredients. Get the Pops Plate if you can't decide...its like a kabob combo. The gyros are yum. Get rice, it's fluffy and buttery. 5/5. The pita 5/5 is the fluffy airy kind. The place is new and hasn't installed its decor, but it's got modern upscale takeout vibe but a clutch of nice small tables. And a wall length bench. Owner/chef is Danny...very personable and friendly. So happy to have awesome Mediterranean food in the SGV. Danny gave us a sample of the falafel .... omg, so good, not greasy so crunchy on outside and moist inside...can't wait to order as a dinner or in a bowl...oh and the hummus is so beautifully balanced between creaminess and oil...oh and you get a packet of sumac to sprinkle on veggies or rice. A lovely earthy herb, under appreciated. Thanks Danny for introducing us to this new flavor. We will be back to use our 10 percent discount you gave us.
Recently discovered this place... Let's just say I've had it twice this week and it's only Tuesday 🤣. We got the chicken plate and beef plate. Comes with either rice pilaf, lemon vinaigrette salad or you can do a combo of both. The rice is soft. Their hummus is delicious with their fluffy pita bread. Their garlic toum is very flavorful and has a nice spice kick at the end. Meats are soft and tender. I really liked their cucumber and tomato salad as well. I recommend ordering online. They have a rewards program for online orders and your first order you can use the promo code "LOCAL" for 20% off. If you order in store, there is no way to track rewards yet. You earn 10 points per $1 spent and the points are redeemed for food items.
Ordered a chicken and steak plate and it was amazing. The price wasn't bad and the portions were good. Definitely worth trying at least once. Will definitely be going back.
I've been coming to Pop's since they opened and have been enjoying their delicious food and great service every time! I recently brought a friend to try it for the first time, and it was a success, as expected! On a side note, I ordered a bowl to go as I finished my meal there, but got distracted and left with my friend before my to go order was called. When I got home I realized that I had forgotten my to go order, so I called the restaurant to let them know that I would be right back to pick it up. They offered a credit for next time if I preferred that, which I thought was very nice of them. I ended up picking up my order, and when I got there they were making a fresh bowl for me since the original one was sitting there for 20 minutes. I didn't think that was necessary, but they had already prepared it for me. That was very generous of them, since it was no fault on their part. I will definitely be back and will continue to bring new friends! Thank you to the owners Joey and Danny!
This place is going to become a locals' favorite... As soon as we walked in, we were happily greeted by one of the brothers that run the place who helped us to order. We got sample falafel as we waited for our food which was nice. They were kind enough to insist to remake my order (out of no fault of their own) after they found out about a food restriction of mine. When I got the remade food, it was delicious! The beef was well seasoned and the fresh vegetables were roasted perfectly. Not to mention the soft pita bread and flavorful garlic butter, chili sauce, and tahini rounded off a perfect meal :P
Great inexpensive Mediterranean food. Their chicken bowl with salad base was good. Their pita bread is thicker and fluffier than most other places, more chewy and bready. Different but delicious!

I ordered from Uber Eats, and oh my goodness! Food was fresh, still hot. The steak was tender, well marinated and so delicious. Hummus and pita bread…yummy! They even thought out every detail, making sure utensils and a little baggie with garlic sauce, hot peppers, hot sauce and sumac seasoning was included. Definitely 10 out of 10, thank you! I would have posted a photo, but my food didn’t stand a chance 😋
We stopped by Pop's Mediterranean for dinner, and the food was fantastic! Everything was well seasoned, and the portions were generous. The baklava was absolutely delicious — one of the best I’ve had. The restaurant is small and seems to focus mostly on takeout, so the atmosphere isn’t the main draw. There was a bit of a wait because of all the online orders, but it was totally worth it for the quality of the food. Highly recommend if you’re craving great Mediterranean dishes!
I met Danny one of the owners while I was at work and he was such a chill guy, he told me to come try his restaurant down the street so I went. When I say this is quality food I mean it’s quality. Everything tastes fresh and premium. I got the mix beef and chicken shawarma plate and it was seasoned to perfection. One cashier was handling like 15 people at once perfectly multitasking while holding a conversation in Arabic with me. Amazing service and Huge portions too; I couldn’t even finish my plate in one sitting. Amazing tahini sauce and lovely atmosphere. Definitely recommend this place to anyone who likes Mediterranean
The guy that took my order his name was AHMAD. He was friendly and helpful. The food was outrageously good. My daughter thought so too. We split a trio dinner. I ordered a side salad extra but we couldn’t eat it. We were so full from the dinner. The chicken and the beef we’re so tender. The rice was very tasty. The hummus was good. The bread was thick and very yummy. This will be our Mediterranean place to go to. I found parking very easily right out front.
No pictures because the food was just too good! Had the Falafel Pita Sandwich with a side of Hummus. ABSOLUTE PERFECTION! Do yourself a favor and stop in here. Chef’s Kiss, bravo!
Spectacular! Everything is delicious, meats are super tender & flavorful. I had a request of how I wanted things packed and they were able to accommodate with a positive vibe. This is my 3rd visit here and we will continue. Highly recommend.

Delicious meats, hard to park. This authentic Mediterranean restaurant, is located right off the Main street in the heart of Alhambra. The ground beef Lule was very tasty and not too salty with a good texture. For my experience, there are many so called Mediterranean restaurants, they have failed to make good Lules. Plus, the bread was thick and soft, very fresh, comparing with other restaurants, their bread was thin and hard, dry. Another thing I liked my dish, was the delicious Basmati rice: it was soft with the right texture and flavor. I also like the salad, since it was not very sour. As a summary, the food was good and delicious. However, the parking can be difficult off the street, so you have to drive, search and find a spot. I certainly will come back here again.
I ordered Pop’s Trio that comes with each skewer of chicken, beef, and beef koobideh (luleh); white rice and lettuce salad with lemon vinaigrette; savory hummus; cucumber, tomato salad; grilled pepper; and a pita bread. All the vegetables were fresh, and the meat was seasoned well. My favorite one was beef koobideh. The mobile ordering process was straightforward and convenient, but when I went there for pick-up, it was a bit confusing about which counter to go to for pick-up because there was no one at the cashier counter and apparently the area around the right side of the counter next to refrigerator when entering the restaurant had more space for customers to order and wait. Also, I didn't find the staff welcoming or approachable, but the person who cooked and gave me my pickup order was very warm and hospitable. The food was great! I’ll definitely go back.
Food is pretty good, but the service is kind of slow.

Ordered Pop’s Plate with a rice and salad base, chicken and beef. Also ordered a koobideh (beef) plate. The chicken was firm and very well seasoned, not spicy, and well sized. The Beef was very tender and cooked well. The bed of rice and salad balanced the meats. The side of hummus and cucumber tomato salad were nice, the hummus was especially pleasant to have as a dip or with the pita too. The pita was very warm and held its shape making for very satisfying tears. The Pop’s Plate is now advertised suggesting it’s for two but that really is not the case, one person can finish one order. The Beef in the Koobideh plate is slightly different in preparation but it was well seasoned and still really great. This place has slow traffic during Friday dinner rush so it’s somewhat calm here. The interior isn’t decorated, plain white walls with very limited two person table seats; some tables can utilize the wall bench to make a third space but these tables are very small too. While the food was great, the service was lacking. This is not a full service restaurant, you order and tip beforehand. Before I was even able to order it was clear the front staff did not have an organized system to the receipts, struggling with passing out to-go orders and determining which orders were next to be prepared. And when I ordered the koobideh bowl, my order was noted as a koobideh plate which was slightly pricier and a bit more food than the koobideh bowl I wanted. Looking online, the ordering system is set up so that you have to manually adjust a default 20% tip that is tacked on to online orders. For a business that appears to have been operating for a few years, I had hoped their customer service was better. Thankfully that time has allowed them to maintain cooking great Mediterranean food in this area, hat tip to the chef. There is city managed street parking near the back across the street so it’s still accessible by car.

I’m honestly not sure how this place has over 4 stars. The woman at the register seemed irritated from the moment I walked in, which set the tone for the whole visit. I ordered the shawarma plate and it was a disaster ..... an overwhelming amount of rice and barely any shawarma. What little shawarma there was came out dry and overly salty. The dining area didn’t help either tables needed wiping and the floor clearly hadn’t been cleaned in a while. Overall, a disappointing experience.

Just genuinely awful service. Trying to be patient and went to check up on my order after half and hour and they just decided not to call out that my order is ready, after calling out the order for everyone else. Can’t even be bothered to say sorry either when I mentioned that I was never called. Avoid this place unless you want to be mad before you even get your food.
The meat was dry and chewy. The koobideh was very strange in taste and texture. The gyro meat is not shaved off meat on the spit, it comes out of a plastic bag and then heated in a pan. The olive oil on the hummus was not real olive oil. They don't make their own pita and there was not a Middle Eastern person in sight. This should have told me how authentic it was. There are much better options for a good kabob.
