Opinions de Silver Thai Cuisine Allen
The food is consistently delicious! This time, I ordered the Tom Kha soup and Lahd Na noodles. OMG!!!! They both were bursting with flavor. I live 20 minutes away from Sipver Thai, but it has become my go-to spot for Thai food. So good!!
We went to dinner at Silver Thai Cuisine in Allen last night and y’all… this place is a GEM. It has that “Cheers” type feel — warm, welcoming, and comfortable — but the food quality is truly top tier. Fresh ingredients, bold flavor, generous portions, and pricing that honestly surprised me (in a good way). I had a chance to visit with the owner and gained a whole new level of respect. Independent restaurants are carrying an incredible load right now — high rent, rising food costs, and competing against chains that can buy ingredients for a fraction of the price. Yet he refuses to compromise the quality he’s always served. Places like this don’t survive without a community that shows up. If you love supporting locally owned restaurants that care deeply about what they serve, now would be a really good time to go try them. Go prove me wrong. ❤️
My favorite thai restaurant in all of DFW. The pad see ew is some of the best around. You should also get the beef skewer appetizers, they are delicious and the perfect warmup to some fantastic noodles. I am a big proponent of extra beef extra egg as well just to make it a huge portion.
Love the vibe right when we stepped in. Super nice staff. We got the golden bags, a small tom kha, seafood combination and the sizzling seafood plate (with the green curry). Oh, it was so delicious. Can't wait to go back.
This place is absolutely fantastic. The service is phenomenal and the food is delicious. There are so many regulars here because it's just so good. I really enjoyed the beef jerky appetizer and the rice is perfectly sticky. They have lots of drink options at a great price. They are constantly improving the location and recently put in new TVs. Next time I'm in Allen I will be back to eat here again! I'm craving those beef jerky appetizers.
Food was delicious! I got the red curry chicken, hubby got the peppered steak, and my daughter got the fried rice with flank steak! Meat was super tender and the service was top notch! We normally get it to go but decided to dine in today! Great experience! Definitely a must try!
I’ve been coming here for like five years and it’s hands down my favorite thai spot even though you can find cheaper ones. Went with my boyfriend and our server was a 17 year old boy but he was really awesome. My favorite things here are the monsoon rolls and the sun wrapped shrimp, so yummy. I always get peanut sauce with the monsoon rolls instead of the honey mustard it comes with. Not everywhere puts assorted veggies in their tom kha, usually they stick to just a few, but I dont mind it- they also use less coconut milk than other places so it’s a little less creamy, but still very yummy. Skip the seafood soup. Only complaint is that they charge $3 for a very small amount of peanut sauce, which I’m sure I could’ve gotten taken off but didn’t want to make a fuss.
We showed up at 5 when they opened for dinner and were quickly seated with a party of 12. It was a little cold, but as the restaurant filled up it made sense why they started out cold since it was comfortable after awhile. You must get the little sacks of Golden Treasure appetizer. They are amazing. Ideal for a party of 4, little shaped wonton satchels of curried filling with a delicious sauce! I ordered a Mai Tai, which I will simply note was an average Mai Tai. Nothing wrong or exceptional. Another person at the table ordered a Mango Colada, which I think I would get instead on a subsequent visit. And then I ordered the Volcano Chicken and was asked "Out of 1-7 how spicy do you want it?" and instinctually thought "Ahh, they've had too many foolish customers come in and say 10 and then it's too spicy and they have to remake it, so they've capped it at a reasonable level." So I proclaimed 7, and sure enough when I got it it was about as spicy as I generally make my pasta at home, which is pretty spicy, like about a medium salsa. So I would say if you LIKE heat, go with 6 or 7 and every other option is for people who like things mild. If I went again I might ask if they could do a 7+ or ask if the heat levels depend on the chef, because I have heard of restaurants where one chef's 7 is the other chef's 3. BUT aside from the heat aspect, the Volcano Chicken was very delicious. Would definitely get it again. Everyone in my party enjoyed their meal. And our server (Rose I think?) She was very nice and attentive.
I've enjoyed Silver Thai (Allen) for several years. Love having this option in our neighborhood. Always friendly and timely service. I'm not a spicy person, but I enjoy getting the Pad Thai (mild) with chicken and glass noodles. They also have a lunch menu that I like to take advantage of!
Excellent food. Owner is very kind and accommodating. Ambience is ok, could be better. Had a terrible server; had to ask the owner to replace him.
The food is excellent. We ordered a spice level of 5 out of 7 and it was just right. Perfect level of hotness for us. May try the 7 next time. The service was a tad slow but they apologized for being short staffed. I loved the decor - cozy and comfortable with Thai elements without being kitschy
Great neighborhood hangout restaurant. The Crab & Cream Cheese Rolls are a nice blend of sweet and savory; the Green Curry and Pad Kee Mow are delicious. The Pad Thai is okay, but I find it hard to eat great Pad Thai outside of Thailand. The portions are big, but we saved room for the Fried Cheesecake with mango sauce, and it is quite tasty.
Nice ambience and decent Thai food. I liked the fried rice here. We made it again in Feb 2023. The food was again good but the service not so. We ordered a big bowl of soup and fried rice. After finishing the fried rice we had to wait 10 min for the soup to come. On checking we were given the reason that they ran out of big soup bowl :(
Honestly not sure why this place have 4.3 review on google. Food wise extremely poor quality . I would say Thai box a small fast food place have some more taste to food. We order some type of noodles which extremely mushy and not even warm felt like warm up food Green curry was also similar with no taste and not even warm it felt more like microwave warm up . Ordered sticky rice with mango which was ok but nothing special. Place was pretty much empty around 7:30
Was informed they have a new chef; been there for about a week… the service was excellent and the food came out promptly. Definitely not authentic Thai food. The pad was sweet and not spicy at all; the sauce is definitely not the original flavor of pad Thai. Disappointing to see canned mushrooms in 2 of the dishes; canned mushrooms should never be used in a restaurant!! Will most likely never go back. Not worth the money.
I always place my order to go by phone, the lady on the phone told me is going to be ready in 15 min, I get there 20 min after and then I had to wait for 30 more minutes. Nothing about the food but the lady was the same on the phone and in person, looks like she don’t care and she just take the order and when you are waiting for your order she is in the bar talking, the most incredible thing was when she told me disrespectfully “go to chick fil A if you want fast food” The manager of the stock should check this customer attention. Unacceptable!!!
2nd visit, unfortunately, not as great as the 1st. Went there for the 1st time last week and everything was phenomenal! Went there again tonight, for the 2nd time, and ordered the same basic dishes (combo rice, no onions or tomatoes + pineapple fried rice, no tomatoes). Food comes out and 1 was incorrect (it was pineapple fried rice, no onion, instead of combo fried rice, no onion or tomatoes). I mention such and it is taken back and brought back in 2-3 minutes without pineapple. I mentioned it still had tomatoes and in the process of taking it back a 2nd time I decide to go ahead and cancel the dish as I'm not very trusting of a plate with a food I'm allergic to not simply have the item picked off like it clearly just had happen. Not upset, mistakes happen. Manager comes up moments later and asks "whats the problem?" (I'm assuming the server had to inform them to be able to void out the dish, we definitely didn't ask to speak to a manager), so I explained what happened and conveyed I/we weren't upset, wanting to make a complaint, or anything like that. She offers to have the kitchen remake the dish and I decline, saying when a dish takes that long to cook, but only 2-3 minutes to entirely "remake", with half the amount it had the previous week, it's clear that it wasn't actually remade and the items were simply picked off and MAYBE reheated, I didn't want to trust it to not simply be picked off again given said item could easily cause an ER visit that costs thousands of dollars and takes several hours. (Ask me how I know). The manager stated she understood and, verbatim, that she would "comp the check". Again, I conveyed that we weren't upset or trying to verbalize a complaint bc the same server was PHENOMENAL the previous week and I chalked it up to mistakes happen. I order another drink while I wait for my girlfriend to eat her food (which I had to insist on give she felt bad eating in front of me). When the server comes back we express, yet again, we're not upset or angry at her and that the manager approached us, we didn't ask to speak to her, and we'd assumed it was due to her having to explain why the dish needed to be voided. When the check comes around, its the full check minus the dish that I declined. I mentioned to the server that the manager stated she was going to comp the check (due to this, expecting the plates to be comped and to pay for the drinks) but we wanted something on it so we could still tip her bc she was phenomenal both weeks and we understand shit happens. She says she'll speak to the manager about it and be right back. The manager returns and states, "I took off the plate you ordered." At this point, I'm confused but we don't have a problem paying for the check so I just say, "Okay then" and we pay. Out of the entire experience, that last part is the only reason I am even writing this review and also the only reason this business has lost 2 customers that were otherwise planning on being weekly regulars (bc the food IS good). We didn't request a manager and weren't expecting to have anything comped, but using the phrase "I'm going to comp the check" and turning it into "i took off the plate" is a HORRIBLE managerial move. You aren't going to charge me or any other person for an item they didn't receive after not only making a significant mistake on it, but the questionable management of the issue (simply picking off HALF of the items that were incorrectly added to it + the dish coming back 'half-filled' within a timeframe that could not logically remake that dish) in an industry where individuals may have anaphylactic reactions to the food item they're requesting to not be included on their dish is dastardly incompetent and brings the integrity of both the managerial staff and business as a whole in question. If the manager had not sought out the problem, offer a solution, and then reneg on said solution, not only would we have paid the same amount we ended up paying, this review wouldn't have been written, and you wouldn't have lost 2 customers. Shameful, do better.
I just brought my order home. Fried rice and pad woon sen. the pad woon sen is dry and has zero flavor. No sauce. I have had it before here and I don’t know if the chef is having an off day but the rice was bland also. I’m not too happy paying almost $40.00 for food that just doesn’t taste good. The people inside are nice but if food doesn’t improve then we need to start looking for a new place. You can see in the picture there is no sauce, noodles are extremely dry. I was looking forward to my dinner and am very sad now.
