Opinions de THAI HOT POT HEAVEN Aloha
This is now one of my favorite restaurants! We live far so that’s probably a good thing since our meal for 6 was over $200! 😬 We ordered 4 hot pot broths and they all had their own special flavors. My favorite is their Tom Yum broth! The taste of that is mouthwatering and packed with flavor! I would go there just for that! You pick your broth which is around $7 per person, then you select meats, seafood, vegetables at different prices and then cook it all in the different broths. They have a sauce bar which has some salad rolls, salad and an array of sauces. My husband enjoyed cooking the meat and vegetables and then dipping them in individual sauces. I enjoyed eating the hot pots as soups. We went all out and had seafood, vegetables and different meats. The pho was some of the best pho I have had! We make it that way at home. It’s full of flavor, nice fatty pull apart meat, large amount of noodles in it and just the right amount of spice. So glad we stopped here for lunch on our way to the Great Wolf Lodge in Washington! We will definitely be back next time we are in the Portland area. The one thing I would change is to move the place closer to us and out of Downtown Portland! It took us way too long to find somewhere to park! Parking is somewhere on the side of the road if you can find a spot! We almost decided to go somewhere else because of the parking frustrations of Portland. We are glad we found a spot and were able to enjoy the flavors of this Thai Hot Pot Heaven!
Straight away we were greeted, even though we were the only people there at the time you'd be surprised how often it happens at other places. Our server brought the menues and thoroughly explained it, even seeing if we had questions. Only costed us so much per person because we didn't do the unlimited option. Which she even told us at the beginning. AMAZING BATHROOMS! just had to add that because of how important I find it being.
After searching for Thai restaurants in Portland, we came across this great spot! They offer Thai hot pot! Too bad, we weren’t in the mood for hot pot so we ordered other dishes instead. Beef Drunken noodle, papaya salad, pork satay, chicken with tamarind sauce and braised beef soup. Everything came out delicious . The owners and staff were very nice and attentive. Definitely recommend for Thai food fans.
Hotpot Heaven is a bit of a hole-in-the-wall, but the food was fantastic. We did the all-you-can-eat option and everything we tried was fresh and delicious. There were lots of ingredients to choose from, which made it really fun to customize our hotpot. The owner was incredibly kind and welcoming as well. Great value for the price — we left feeling very satisfied. Would definitely come back to try their thai food as well.
This was my first experience of a hot pot meal. The waitress was very nice and did a great job at explaining options and what to do. We did the all you can eat. With one savory broth and one spicy broth, which seemed to be a great balance. They offer two rounds of food. Meats, seafood, tofu, and veggies. Sides are also included. We only had one round because there was so much food. Great for groups. Definitely to much food for one person. I recommend this place cute little restaurant with delicious food.
Thai Hotpot Heaven is a very unique restaurant I hope everyone can find. I did not have time to sit down for hotpot. But as the place is really for Thai street food, I am more than pleased to have tried Pad Ka Prao upon the owner’s recommendation. I wanted everyone to find this place in part because it is not the easiest to find even though it is technically on 21st Street. Portland must have installed light barriers on Lovejoy and on 22nd because the two sides feels very different. But If you are brave enough to break the barrier to walk down 21st for just two blocks, you will see a brightly decorated storefront that is very distinct from other restaurants in the area. Once you are inside, you will find the space even more distinct. You can see the Thai in decorations, but they are totally different from any Thai restaurant I have been to, and extremely delightful. Even more impressively, this is all hand-made by the young owner. She only recently wrapped up her business in Thailand and moved to Portland to build a totally new business from ground up. I mean, literally from the ground up. When you walk in, the floor tiles were laid with her bare hands. Of course I am not here to rate a restaurateur’s entrepreneurship, but the restaurant. I only went there twice, ate there once in 2024. It was my first evening in the Park Lane area and I needed to finish a meal quickly without resorting to sandwich. Even though the storefront was not as bright in the evening, it looked different after half an hour of walking up and down the streets. Shortly after I was seated, the owner came to my table. I asked for a recommendation of Thai street food. Pad Ka Prao came out very quickly. The meal looked simple and tasted delicious. After the meal, I asked the owner about the lovely and style-driven interior decorations. The next evening, I brought my daughter to her store. As we came from dinner at a friend's home, we ordered some Thai street drinks the owner recommended. When the store traffic subsided, we learned more about how she selected the theme, sourced materials including some from Thailand, and managed or, should I say, manned - eh, womanned most elements of renovation after she decided on the location. In all, Thai Hotpot Heaven offers a satisfactory meal in a casual space that feel like home. There is no grand hall. But I bet you haven’t been to a Thai place like this!
Such a lovely hot pot experience. I have been to many hot pot places in Portland and I believe this one is one of the best. It's very unique with the Thai flavors. They have really good options at the sauce bar, spring rolls, salad, very delicious homemade sauces etc. I will absolutely be returning here! 10/10 recommended for hot pot lovers
Best Thai food I've had outside of SE Asia! The complex flavors are extraordinary, the bar of homemade sauces is one-of-a-kind, and the owners are beyond lovely. There is such a variety of Thai restaurants in Portland, but this one truly outshines them all! If you want an authentic flavor experience, you can't do better than this. I recommend you try this place before it gets "discovered." Our favorite is the hot pot meal with the spicy Mala broth. Out of this world!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5 — Hot Pot Heaven truly lives up to its name! This was my first time visiting Hot Pot Heaven, and I was blown away. The atmosphere is so warm and welcoming — it genuinely feels like you’re eating in someone’s home. The staff made the experience even better. Everyone was so kind and helpful, and our waitress was incredibly sweet and patient while walking us through how everything works. The food itself was phenomenal. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. I love the all-you-can-eat hot pot concept, and now that I’ve tried it, I wish I had discovered this spot sooner. I’ll definitely be coming back any chance I get! Highly recommend to anyone who loves great food and great vibes.
I LOVE Thai Hot Pot Heaven! Their all you can eat hot pot is the way to go and highly recommend upgrading to prime plus for the premium it’s of meat like the ribeye and NY strip. I love how many seafood options they had like the shrimp, live prawns, scallops and mussels. Their staff is super friendly and helpful. It’s a homey and quaint atmosphere. Love the owner Tina, she’s a sweetheart alongside the rest of the staff. Defenitrlu recommending to all of my friends!
This was a one woman show and she was phenomenal. She was the host, cashier, waitress, and chef! The broth was my favorite - I could come and drink just that and be fine. We chose the two spicy broths without pork. The meat and veggies were really good quality. I never had bean curd rolls before, that was unique. They had a salad and sauce bar which was minimal - didn’t really need the sauces anyways. The papaya salad they had was great and an excellent appetizer while waiting for your hotpot. My partner and I did the classic AYCE. We didn’t feel the need for the premium and still had so good of a time that we would definitely go back. Thanks for a great time!!
Thai Hot Pot Heaven is a hidden gem! Their hot pot is great, but we are always blown away with the quality and flavors of their regular menu dishes as well! The BBQ beef, incredible! The stir fried chicken, delicious! But the pad kee mao surprised us so much! Incredible unique flavor unlike any other pad kee mao dishes we’ve had before, definitely glad we tried it! A new favorite dish! And the staff are always friendly and helpful! Do yourself a favor and try this place out!
Love this spot, food, owners, atmosphere on point!!! Especially the mala fries!!! Second time here. The owners treated us like part of the family. There is a charge for wasting food with the all you can eat menu, understandably. Why order food you’re going to waste??? I did witness some people surprised by the charge. They left a bunch of food at the table. It Could not be easier to see that there is a charge for wasting food. It’s in writing they also inform you of this before you order. Please pay attention.
Best hot pot in Portland. I’ve been here about 5 times in the last few months and every time has been awesome. The portions are generous. I always order everything I want and it averages out to about $35 a person, which is more than fair. The ingredients are very high quality, and their sauces are house made. They also have an entire menu of Thai and other SE Asian dishes. Make sure you get the giant river prawns, they are gigantic. Also they are open late, so it’s a great to get a late night meal. You always get a split pot so make sure you pick 2 broths.
Really incredible food, made with so much love that each dish will blow you away! 💕 Family owned and operated, the owner’s mother makes each dish with distinct knowledge and passion. The service is great, we always had water and everything we needed! I highly recommend checking them out during their soft open. Even if you’re just anticipating their hot pot (coming soon!), their current dishes are really special and bring something totally new that this neighborhood has been craving. Very authentic, flavorful, and distinct.
This is a fun spot for some hot pot in Northwest Portland. The experience is unique and the services were good and attentive which made the meal enjoyable. It's a bit on the pricey side but the quality make it worth checking out, especially if you are into the Hot Pot experience.
We finally made it here to try their hot pot. It's different from the other places as it's more Thai based, from the broth and also some of the sides. I did like that you can order some of the hot items - chicken and beef skewers, as well as pad see ew and pad kee mao on the side. The veggies were standard on what you would expect to get for hot pot. The meat quality was decent. They also had a shaved ice machine that you can make a simple shaved ice dessert after your meal.
Not AYCE. You order it, but you are limited to 2 "rounds" of ordering. 3 meats are allowed for each round. They serve 3-5 slices per selection. Very thin even for hot pot. Tendon meatballs were 2 pieces per order. Noodle dishes (pad Thai, Pad Woon Sen, ect) are served with enough food for a whole meal. So if you prefer meat heavy hot pot, this is not your place. All "categories" have limits. Veggies were sufficient quantity. That said, the food is delicious. The shrimp are giants. Noodles were excellent. And the meats were very good. Since the categories were so limiting, we ordered food we normally would not order at hot pot. Unfortunately the experience we were looking for was skewed by the policy. Service was a bit lacking. There was one waitress for the whole place, and it got busy. She was overwhelmed. All small issues, like no refill on water. Im sure she didn't even see it. I wouldn't go back, but it was OK for one visit. When AYCE is advertised, I expect the food to actually be AYCE. If you are looking at this place for regular menu, and a regular restaurant style, you may enjoy it.
I expected a lot more from this place. It was good, just not fabulous. It was very hot in the restaurant, no fans or AC. Our server kept forgetting our order, even though we asked multiple times. The condiments table was sticky and dirty. The chicken satay was so over cooked that it was hard to chew. We ordered all you can eat, there's 4 of us, but the trays of food came in 2 or 3. There should have been enough for everyone. This was the first time we went there, and probably our last.
Y'all. I had the most confusing dinner here last night for our party of 5. We selected the all you can eat (AYCE) option for our table. That will be important later. To start, you get your own utensils, napkins, bowls, plates, etc. Which is fine except they didn't tell us so the broth arrived and we were all sitting there wondering when the eating and serving utensils would arrive. Okay fine, we can grab our own stuff no problem. Secondly, my friend asked for an iced tea. The server asked if he meant a thai iced tea. He said no, just a regular green tea but over ice. She said no. He asked if he could get a regular green tea in that case with a side cup of ice. She said that was such a crazy request she couldn't process it 🤣. He said it's fine he'll just get a green tea please with a side of ice and can figure it out on his end. Fast forward 10 minutes: he gets served hot water in the tiniest tea cup I've ever seen. Seriously this was a tea cup meant for your kid's tea party. Which would've been fine if he had also received a teapot or something but nope just an ant sized tea cup. The server then asked him if he had received his Jasmine tea packet yet. He hasn't because she didn't bring it and also he asked for green tea like 3x 🤣🤣🤣 y'all I can't. The food comes and they missed half our order - noodles we ordered never arrived, we received shredded cabbage we never asked for, etc. That's fine we can overlook that. When we went to order another round of meats we were informed that we had met their limit. What limit, aren't we at AYCE?? Me: "what do you mean?" Server: "you can only order 6 items in the meats section" Me: "so it's not all you can eat?" Server: 😬 Me: 👀 Server: 😬 Me: "you can say no, I just want to understand the rules?" Plus we asked for fish balls 3-4 separate times but they were frozen (?) so they didn't want to bring them out vs us cooking it in the boiling broth? I'm just confused. The rules weren't mentioned to us about any limits - I'm still unclear what they are? ☠️ Also if you pay card they charge 4% credit card processing fee. Not a big deal but worth mentioning because we didn't see a sign re: this. I won't be back - tiny portions, not all you can eat, tiny tea cups (for $3.95!), and sheer confusion and chaos 🤣
I called in advanced asking about all you can eat hot pot. I said, “this is for one person eating lunch today”. They said, “ok, price is $29-39 depending on what meat I want to eat with my hot pot”. I live 5 hours away from Portland, I am here visiting and I drove 30 minutes across town and paid $5 in parking. Then after waiting at my table for 10 minutes without being given a menu, I was told all you can eat is for 2 or more people only. I told them I called in advanced and they told me I could eat here. The lady said it is so food is not wasted. I told her I called in advanced and was given the wrong information from her. For one person to eat here it is A La Carte, which means I have to pay even more money because I didn’t bring another person with me. My name is not Kristian, the picture I included in my review shows the owner telling another angry customer they make exceptions for All You Can Eat for tourists. I was not given any exception! I will never be returning here!!!
I was appalled when I came here. This was by far the worst restaurant I have ever been to. I went here with a group of 6 people in total. Their portions were awful for the number of people we had (compared to another hotpot place that was more accommodating and had more food for all guests involved in the experience). We all get inside, and we do not receive any drinks until after we receive our food, which still took a long time. We didn't even receive WATER. We had to retrieve our own dishes, silverware, etc, from the front of the restaurant and got barely any service. They were very welcoming to another group who had a birthday, which I can appreciate, but they had NO regard for us as another party in their restaurant. The food was of okay quality, but there just was NOT enough for all of us sitting there. The experience was disappointing and made me never want to try hotpot until I was shown a proper hotpot experience elsewhere. I felt like I barely saw any waiter/waitress during our visit besides taking our food order, dropping it off, and that was that. They didn't even do the bare minimum. The whole group I was with was appalled by this horrendous service. I will NEVER go back here. I also left a review on Yelp explaining this situation, and their response was not it. Tipping of 20% or more was automatically applied to our party because we had a party of 6, and this was mentioned to make sure "their hard-working employees got tipped." But there were two parties in this restaurant at the time, and only one party was tended to. Wanting to celebrate special moments is wonderful, and I can appreciate that, but whatever was going on this day was not okay, as they sang Happy Birthday twice, and then our whole table was overlooked and received nothing but the most horrendous service I've ever experienced in my life. I hate leaving bad reviews, but this place genuinely deserves it. We will never be coming back here, and I will never recommend this place, as it was just a very disappointing FIRST TIME hotpot experience. There is no excuse to be rude to PAYING patrons or to overlook someone who just wants to have a genuinely good experience. There is also no excuse to offer such horrendous quality of service when there were only two parties in the restaurant.
