First time here and I would love to come back! We had a party of 18 and everyone was so gracious and polite. We didn't experience any waits notneven for seating since we had reservations. Drinks were quickly and delicious. Our server Jason wasn't only knowledgeable but also funny and I appreciated his humor!! I ordered stuffed shrimp and the wife ordered one of her favorites, Prime Rib!!! Tender and flavorful.. I don't drink I order a non alcoholic mocktail and it was fantastic. Blood-Orange Sage!!

A Truly Exceptional Dining Experience at Chart House Portland From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the impeccable service, stunning views, and incredible food. The complimentary valet parking made arriving a breeze, and we were seated just before sunset — a perfect time to watch the skyline transition from golden light to twinkling city views. Absolutely breathtaking. We started with the calamari, which was crisp, flavorful, and beautifully drizzled with sauce — easily one of the best versions I’ve had. The Caesar salad and lobster bisque followed, both decadent and rich with flavor. For entrées, the steak and shrimp skewers were perfectly cooked, and the chimichurri sauce took the dish to another level. The crab-stuffed sole was a true standout — tender, flavorful, and expertly prepared. We finished the evening with a chocolate lava cake that was pure bliss — warm, rich, and indulgent, the best I’ve had in a long time. From the knowledgeable, friendly staff to the well-curated bar and happy hour options, every detail at Chart House feels intentional and elevated. Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or just want to enjoy an unforgettable meal with a view, Chart House Portland is the place to be.

The Chart House in Portland is consistently an incredible experience every single time we visit. The food is always excellent, from the seafood to the steaks, and the quality never wavers. Every dish is prepared with care, beautifully presented, and reliably delicious, which is something you truly come to appreciate over repeat visits. The service is wonderful, attentive, professional, and warm without ever feeling intrusive. On top of that, the views are absolutely phenomenal and make the entire dining experience feel special and memorable, whether it is day or night. It is the kind of place you trust for celebrations, date nights, or simply a great meal, knowing you will leave happy every time.

Took Mom for birthday dinner and it was amazing. The ambiance, food, and service made for a beautiful evening. Mom was so impressed. Stellar view and top tier cuisine. Also, very reasonably priced. Easily Portland's best.

We went to Chart House in Portland to celebrate my birthday, and it was the perfect choice for such a special occasion. The place felt truly amazing, ideal for celebrating milestones or meaningful moments with loved ones. The food was superb, the service was excellent, and the view was absolutely mesmerizing, especially with the city and river as a backdrop. What made it even better is that it’s a kid-friendly restaurant, which made the whole experience more enjoyable for our family. I’d definitely recommend it for anyone looking to dine somewhere memorable.

This restaurant is a gem! I wish I'd discovered it sooner. The setting up in the West Hills is lovely with a great view of the river. We enjoyed cocktails and Happy Hour food in the downstairs lounge, and everything was excellent. Service was prompt and friendly. Definitely recommend!

Stopped in with a friend for drinks and some happy hour snacks at the bar downstairs. Great service and prices were not that bad for the venue. Sliders shrimp and fries all tastey. Super nice view.

We were wowed by this location and view, driving in park like road approaching the restaurant was very great pleasure. The restaurant sits on a hill overlooking the river below and Mt Hood + St Helen. Very spacious seating and excellent food. We loved the prime rib, tender and juicy; the miso sake grazed cod, favorable; our favorite was the superb seafood bouillabaisse, we even asked additional bread so we can dip the soup. The parking was valet parking without waiting, the staff were very friendly and easygoing. We had a great time and will definitely go back again.

Everyone was so friendly and kind, this was my first time eating here. The experience was amazing, made me want to come back for more. Our servicer, was a fast, sufficient, kind, and went and above and beyond for us. When we first arrived. We were sitted in the middle of the room. We asked our generous waiter how we can get a table near the window in the future, and he said they like to try to accommodate, we just have to request it when making the reservation. Next thing we knew he offered us a window seat in the amazing nuke in the corner of the room, I felt more secluded and private. The drinks were fantastic. Great flavors, and a good selection. We had valet park our car, I mean for me, coming from the small, but beautiful town of Forest grove, it was incredible. David's hill winery is the fanciest thing we have in town. The food was a 10/10 the flavors, combinations and style was very well presented and prepared. Everything was fantastic, my favorite part was the staff. They made me feel like family. These people DESERVE RAISES.

Everything here is good. Made a reservation for my son's 30th birthday. Greeting was warm and friendly, we were seated quickly at a table with a gorgeous view. Our server did a good job getting all the questions answered and the orders right. What impressed me most was our food was served timely and it was HOT, like they had just finished cooking it. It has been ages since my food was served so hot I had to let it cool a bit! It was delightful! All five of us really enjoyed our food. I ordered grilled Mahi and it was delicious. My son gave me a bite of his filet mignon and oh my gawd, that was the most tender steak bite I've had in forever. They served my son a special dessert, and we ordered two desserts so we ended up with too much, but it was sweet that they had a candle for him so we could sing happy birthday. There was also a table for 20 or so (wedding party I think?), kudos to the kitchen for keeping it together with a party that large during regular service!

Our first visit was exceptional, highlighted by gracious, attentive service and a relaxed atmosphere. We returned on a much busier evening, and while the dining room carried a noticeably different energy. The prime rib is an absolute must—beautifully prepared, richly flavorful, and unquestionably the standout on the menu. One note of disappointment was the salad served in the cheese bowl, which arrived cold and would have benefited from being freshly prepared. On the other hand, the bread was clearly fresh-baked, warm, and well executed. We would return specifically for the prime rib.

There's a few of these across the Nation. I have only eaten at the Portland location. The food is good quality and the staff is all very professional. This is where you go if you want some surf and turf with a beautiful view. You have to valet park because parking is very limited but they have an efficient system. I had some really good oysters when I went and the oysters were from Puget Sound and some of the best I've had lately. My date and I each had the prime rib with a shared side of green beans. The green beans were delicious and prepared perfectly and vibrant green with an "Asian" sauce that was soy and ginger based and I was very glad we ordered this side. The Prime Rib was perfect just as you would expect and the whole experience was very pleasant. Great conversation is always better with a view of the city. One criticism and only one. I always have an old fashioned cocktail when dining out and their old fashioned was not my favorite. I still had two over the hour of dining but it was not my favorite and lacked any sweetness and seemed a little watered down. If the managers read this you may want to see if they know how to make them properly. It wasn't anything I cared to complain about at the time. Life is too short and a poorly made cocktail is just a trifle in the day. So in conclusion it was a good menu and well executed dishes and excellent service. I will keep it on my list of places to revisit.

Chart House has a big outside game of fine dining but when it comes to the very pricey food, it should be amazing. We ordered the Kim chi calamari which explicitly said 'lightly fried' on menu. When placed on our table, it was deep golden brown, not lightly fried. The calamari was very very chewy! The calamari rings could have been used as carnival rings around the milk bottle...where is my free goldfish to take home?! Although the steak was very well cooked to med rare amd the right amount of salt and grill marks. Mashed potatoes could be used to cover holes in my rental, they were so gluey. What happened to using butter and cream?? Asparagus...culinary 101 = peel and breakoff woody ends. If you are preparing ala carte veggies, treat the product right and you make something simple, absolutely delicious. Our server was great and resolved our issue with the calamari. What was sad is seeing the table next to us get the same dark brown calamari and they didnt eat it either. Listen to your patrons and make it better.

My partner and I had lunch here a few weeks ago. The view and atmosphere were pretty good. A lot of people mention about the calamari in their review, so we ordered to share. I was glad we did. It was nice and crispy. The shaved prime rib benedict was very disappointing. It wasn't juicy at all. The grilled fish was delightful though. I wanted to stay longer to enjoy the view, but of course there was a fly so we left as soon as we finished eating.

Visited on 11/15/25 at 4:00 PM. Our server was very friendly, and the food was decent, but we encountered four notable mistakes: 1) I ordered the chopped salad without onions, but it came with onions. 2) We were informed that we would receive bread with our salad, but it didn’t arrive. I had to remind the server, and it was packed to go at the end of our meal. 3) We didn’t receive the bleu cheese sauce that was supposed to accompany the swordfish special. The server caught this mistake halfway through our meal. 4) The mashed potatoes that were supposed to come with the swordfish special were also missing. I had to bring this to the server's attention towards the end of our meal, and they were packed to go. The view from the restaurant is really nice, especially with clear skies. However, considering it was a very slow time at the restaurant, it’s surprising to have encountered so many mistakes on my wife and my first visit to this establishment.

Service was fantastic. The food is decent. Nothing to be excited about. Breed was still frozen in the middle. Fish had good flavor and texture. Potatos was good. Tuna is excellent. Great texture and full of flavor. It would be a cool place to visit during the day to see the view.

I used to enjoy going to the Chart House for special occasions, but unfortunately that chapter most likely closed last night. Last evening’s entrees were good, but not great (Lobster & Shrimp Carbonara and Spiced Ahi), but the Oysters On The Half Shell were unacceptable… especially for $20/half dozen. A couple of them were so small, seriously the size of a nickel. $15 each for the only-okay cocktails? No thanks. I’m definitely not a fan of the mandatory valet parking (two years ago the attendant there left our window open during a torrential downpour that drenched the inside of our car). -- I get it. The small lot gets busy... don't want door dings on the Lambos and Maseratis out front. I’ll leave the Chart House to the folks who continue to go there for whatever reason. I’ll be headed elsewhere. Generously giving 3-stars for the great visits in the many, many years past.
