The owner came to me worried because he thought I was crying when I had allergies badly he sat down to check if I was okay I had tears dripping down my eyes he was their when I had to put my dog down I missing coming their to sit-down eat 😔 😢 this place is the most welcoming place ever I love this place

Best breakfast we have had in a restaurant in quite a while, and we frequently eat breakfast out wherever we go! Quaint small place, friendly servers and the food was on point! Even the toasted bread was perfect! If we head back this way we will come back for sure.

This is a great stop for wayward travelers and obviously locals as well which speaks volumes about it. I look for places like this everywhere I go and Wagon Wheel Diner exceeded all my expectations. We found a seat and our server was asking what we'd like to drink and delivering menus in under a minute. The menu is laid out well and has lots of choices for breakfast and lunch as they close down at 2 - makes perfect sense to me, there's a local restaurant in my hometown that does the same thing and they do great business just like TJ's Wagon Wheel Diner. When she came back to ask what we'd like, she gave us a couple suggestions which we took without hesitation. I got the Deluxe Patty Melt which is like a regular patty melt plus bacon and mushrooms - and it's worth it! I absolutely LOVED it! My wife got the Chicken Fried Steak breakfast which they clearly hand bread there as evidenced by the panko breading! Homemade country gravy, eggs cooked perfectly, crispy top hash browns - what's not to love?! The ambiance is standard breakfast/lunch diner with a cowboy flair and historic framed pictures on all the walls. I think I saw Eisenhower in one? The service was top notch, our waters never ran dry, our coffee never got cold or low and she was very quick to bring the only condiment that wasn't on the table - A1... Because after all, "what is ground beef but ground steak?" Pro tip: A1 on a regular patty melt makes it incredibly better, A1 on the Deluxe Patty Melt is ELEVATED. If you're a wayward traveler looking for a memorable dining experience, this is your place.

This is the most American place I have eaten in a long time and if you miss the good old days when things were simpler and life was good; stop in here. Plus you can buy a coffee cup right off the table!

We had breakfast here on a Sunday morning and the place was busy, but our server was great! She was pretty young, but she was quick, friendly and efficient and we were very impressed with her overall demeanor. The food was basic breakfast fare, but done well. Crispy hashbrowns and bacon and fluffy biscuits. Overall very pleased and would definitely return on our next trip through.

Absolutely incredible local place. Stopped by on a road trip, was really busy so the wait was long but the food was divine and they had lots of it for a very decent price. Can't wait to stop by again!

The best place to have breakfast in Alturas. OK, there isn't a lot of choice in Alturas but this place serves a good, standard, American style breakfast. Don't expect fancy croissants or pain au chocolat. They serve omelets, eggs, bacon, pancakes. The kind of food you need to do a hard day's work on the ranch, or for a long hike! Quick and friendly service.

We got a Denver omelet, sausage, and hashbrown's. The sausage was really good, hot coffee and hot tea. The tea comes in many flavors. We got seated really fast. Got our food very quickly. It was good. The service is awesome. Very clean place. Decent prices.

Had a great lunch here yesterday! On the road and hungry, we went right in and sat down not having noticed that the CLOSED sign was in the window!! Got very friendly service and delicious tuna melt and club house sandwiches, with real brewed iced tea. Thank you!!

Simple country cooking. Reminds me of spending summers with grandma and filling up on biscuits and gravy, country fried steak, and eggs. There is nothing wrong with keeping things simple -traditional. All of it comes with great service. When they are packed, you might feel the urge to fill up your own cup. That's okay too.

Great lil spot to stop at in Alturas. The food was good.

The food wasn't great . Wife said the gravy tasted rancid and my breakfast was very bland . Also, being tourists we felt people staring at us which was uncomfortable. The server seemed like she was making an effort to be friendly.

Tried to eat there. The sign said open, online said open, but they were close. It was a ghost town. How to drive all the way back to Susanville, just to eat dinner.

I ordered breakfast to go, when I arrived I could see my order sitting on the counter, I waited at least 15 minutes but all staff seemed to ignore me and my order, finally I left, I got a call a half hour later saying my order was ready and ha been for awhile. I told them I was there and ha left. I am certain that if I was not black my food would have gotten to immediately upon my arrival. Will never eat there and recommend that only racist white people are welcome there.
