Driving back from Colorado, after a week of fun in the 🏔. Saw this on our way yup but it was too early to try the breakfast. First the rolls and cinnamon rolls. Had me salivating. Entree was 2 eggs, chicken fried steak with biscuit & gravy :) that’s what I’m talking about refueling 🤣. I think I needed some healthy carbs soon. @huangflash
My experience was amazing our waitress ruby was amazing she helped us through out our whole meal and had a bright contagious smile 10/10 would recommend
Ruby gave me thebest service ive had in a long time. I will be coming back thanks to her and the food was hot and delicious!
Great food everytime when we go we always ask for ruby she gives us wonderful service and everyone is always so helpful my family loves it here
Ate here last night and the food was delicious as always. We had the meatloaf and their selection of sides is tremendous. Their complementary rolls and cinnamon rolls are fantastic. As far as we are concerned this is the place to eat when we are in Amarillo.
Visited on Sunday, 6/22/2025 for late breakfast. Food was great, service was perfect - drinks constantly filled, our waitress checked in several times. Our group of 9 had a variety of meals - breakfast and lunch items. All were cooked perfectly. The cinnamon rolls and bread before the meal was a nice touch. I ordered the chicken quesadilla - a little too many onions for my liking, but easy to pull them out. I would have liked the option to sub the sour cream (do not like) for salsa. - this is just a personal preference Definitely would visit again.
Nice environment very Friendly Server. I will Ask for Ruby more often. Hot breakfast and very delicious!
I loved the service especially ruby she was very welcoming and helpful she kept a smile on her face the whole time totally recommend to ask for RUBY
the takeout girl was extremely nice and very respectful to me. Will be coming back!
Ruby gave great service she’s really sweet really funny great attitude I hope the next time we visit calico county ruby will be our server
Excellent service provided. Ruby provided great knowledge of the menu along with a hospitality that left a lasting impression of Calico County.
My daughter, granddaughter and I ate here the first time on March 1. We were very impressed with the service, food and the atmosphere. Hillaria was our server and she was very attentive to check on us, refilling our drinks and asking if we needed anything. The food was excellent and we were well fed and left full. Next time we will be getting dessert if we don't get too full. We found a new place to eat when we are in town. We sure did enjoy it. Thank you.
Great food!!! I’ve been here a couple times and my family and I really enjoy the food and atmosphere, especially my kids and they are very picky eaters!!! The food came out quick we had a great server named Ruby Juarez, she was fun and has an infectious personality and got all of our orders correct and recommended things off the menu. I suggest to ask to have her as your waitress next time you dine in!! Loved it and I felt very welcomed with my young kids! Highly recommend!
Calico is a place my parents and grandparents like to go to when we visit. It's traditional breakfast food and a greasy spoon (which is a good thing) The rolls and cinnamon rolls they serve kind of confuse me...they could make them better or just.......skip them. I like that they try something but. They're not very good, and plain? Reasonably priced. Under 10$ you can get your traditional breakfast and with a pancake or French Toast. Coffee/orange juice included. Recommend.
We had a wonderful lunch here the other day. I believe our waitress was named Tasha, and she was amazing. Kind, perfect timing, just really great service. The food was delicious. I got the fried fish, and it was really crispy and lightly breaded, not greasy at all. The squash is amazing, too. My husband got the meatloaf and he enjoyed it very much. The atmosphere is always really cozy and clean in here, too.
I had a great Experience at Calico and the best service Thanks to our Waitress Ruby. She held a conversation with Us about the Menu she recommended I get the meatloaf since I just got teeth pulled and it was a great suggestion. I'll be back soon to try something different.
Olivia provided excellent service — she was attentive, polite, and professional. The food was delicious, flavorful, and served hot. I’ll definitely recommend this restaurant to family and friends.
Food taste, restaurant cleanliness & style was great. But the best was the service ⭐️. I’ve been to places where waitresses don’t care but that’s not the case here. Everybody was kind and helpful with the menu questions I had. The owner was sitting behind us and made us feel welcomed, also he made sure we had cinnamon rolls for the road for free. I was traveling and they made me feel like home. I’m definitely returning for another great experience.
The staff was attentive, and our waitress, Ruby, was a huge part of that. She had a great attitude and ensured our experience was perfect. Thank you!
My visit was the best I came in grumpy and I sat down the food was so delicious my server never made any mistakes she was so nice and helped so much thank you Ruby❤️❤️❤️
I wish there were more than 5 stars to give for this restaurant. I stopped there for the first time and believe me it won't be the last!! I wanted a real Chicken Fried Steak, (some places are misleding), Calico County did not disappoint. Their Chicken Fried Steak is awesome, very delicious! It was tender and breaded just right. The sides I got were their carrots and green beans which didn't disappoint either. After each bite I took my mouth was watering for another. They serve rolls and cinnamon rolls before your dinner and trust me, you will be asking for more, like I did!! The waitress I had was fun. She made me feel comfortable and at home, I wish I would of gotten her name. I had looked around and there was nothing but empty plates. Apparently those customers were just as satisfied as I was. My hat is off to the Chef and to the Owners for taking time to please their customers with great food and for taking pride in the food they send out. 😋 💖
Ruby is one of the sweetest and hard working waitresses I ever met she made sure my visit was very much welcomed and delicious definitely coming back!
Great food and affordable prices. Homemade goodness reminded me of my Grandmother's cooking having visited in Alabama. Miss you Grandma and thanks for Calico bringing back fond memories and great food. Breakfast all day by the way. Fantastic!
I love this place! I had never stopped by before but decided to check it out. The place is clean, with a good atmosphere and friendly staff. I didn't go for anything fancy—just stuck to the basics. I was craving breakfast, so I ordered the eggs and chicken fried steak, and I ate the whole thing! The cinnamon rolls were a definite plus. The only thing that felt a bit off (and it could just be me) was the gravy on my biscuits and gravy—it tasted a bit like hospital-grade gravy. It lacked some punch, maybe a bit more sausage would help, but it was still good overall. I'll definitely be coming back, and next time, I’m bringing the family!
The weight staff is wonderful. The food is comfort food. The quality is good. Could use some renovating inside, but it's clean.
We ate lunch here today and had the BEST waitress! Aubrey was polite, helpful and had a great sense of humor! She made our day and we will ask for her by name next time we're in.
Food was great. We had chicken fried steak and pork chops. Everything was excellent. Our server, Kayden was very nice and very attentive would eat here again every day
Really glad we found this place while traveling thru Amarillo. I had an omelet w/hash browns & toast. This was on top of the small cinnamon & yeast rolls just for coming in. Hash browns were perfectly cooked w/ a nice crunchy top. Wife had the breakfast burrito and it was good sized & full. Definitely enjoyed everything about this place & will put this on our list of places to stop at again.
Calico County is a warm casual restaurant, with large breakfast portions, at a great price. Food was delicious, and we loved the mini cinnamon rolls that we're served before the meal! It has become one of our favorite spots to visit, on our trips to the east coast. We try to stop there whenever we're in Amarillo.
Don't sleep on this place everything we've tried from breakfast to chicken fried steak has been delicious. All of the servers are super sweet and funny on top of making sure you have everything you want.
We had such a great experience thanks to Olivia! She was friendly, attentive, and really made sure we had everything we needed. The food was great, but her awesome service made it even better. Highly recommend asking for her if you visit!
We are regulars🤠. Nuff said... Great breakfast special that includes coffee and allows substitutions. Appropriate service (without smothering you). Good comfort food in a relaxing atmosphere.
We aren’t from here but we had such great customer service from Ruby! She has a sweet smile and she was very attentive to our needs. I’ll be back to try the steak fingers and ask Ruby!
aubrey is an amazing server, she is attentive, she knows the menu, and can confidently help out the customers with their needs.she as well has a bright attitude and is efficient with all her work around!
The service was outstanding. Thank you Kayden! Food was delicious! We’ll be back.
Ruby was our server and she did an amazing job. She was very prompt in tending to all our needs. She went above and beyond in her services I will ask for her next time we go
Fantastic service and great atmosphere. You don’t find a good breakfast place like that often! definitely worth the trip if you’re in town.
We had a late breakfast! The food was delicious! My husband had the Traditional Breakfast & I had the Hearty Breakfast with pork chops. Our waitress Katy was awesome. We were seated and she immediately brought out cinnamon rolls & hot rolls. She refilled drinks before we ran out. She had a friendly personality & just overall a sweetheart!
Had a great experience at Calico County Restaurant in Amarillo! The food was absolutely delicious—fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. Everything we ordered came out hot and tasted amazing. Our waiter, Christian, really made the visit even better. He was super nice, friendly, and very attentive without being overbearing. He checked on us often, made sure we had everything we needed, and had a great attitude the whole time. Overall, excellent food and outstanding service. We’ll definitely be coming back!
Was waited on by Kayden T. That young lady deserves a big pat on the back. My wife and I had a fairly rough day and went here for supper. Kayden was so helpful and friendly it was almost unbelievable. She took such good care of us it is hard to express how it made a great end to a rough day. I hope any time we go here she will be our girl. Thanks Kayden you are the best. By the way the food was great also.
We never leave disappointed when we stop by Calico County Restaurant when passing thru Amarillo. Tonight we had the fried steak with gravy, broccoli rice casserole and cabbage. Everything was delicious, the service was prompt and everyone friendly. Who needs dessert with those yummy cinnamon rolls they serve!?!
Awesome food awesome service by the server Ariana, made sure my drinks stayed topped off and food came out quickly made sure to get my table whatever we needed, she also was easy on the eyes lol. Definitely recommend going to the place and and trying them out might want to ask for (Ariana) section but I’m sure whoever you get will give you the best service
Ruby took amazing care of us! Super happy, made me laugh a lot, very attentive and full of energy! The food was absolutely delicious and came out at a reasonable time! Will definitely be back!
Excellent Service from Ruby! I had such a great experience thanks to Ruby, our waiter. She was incredibly attentive, friendly, and made sure everything was perfect from start to finish. Ruby went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and comfortable — our drinks were always full, and she checked in at just the right times without being intrusive. Her positive attitude and professionalism really stood out. It’s rare to find service this genuine and thoughtful. Thank you, Ruby, for making our visit such a great one!
We love this place. We don't go near often enough. Their staff are all friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere reminds me of a Diner. The food is all delicious. Before the meal they bring out little biscuits and cinnamon rolls that are quite good. I usually get the daily breakfast special, it includes coffee or tea. They also have daily lunch specials Monday thru Friday. They have a big menu and they cook everything perfectly. This is a local business with amazing food! We will be back more often.
I had the biscuits and gravy plus. Which is two full biscuits, a large bowl of sausage gravy and three pieces of your choice bacon sausage or him and I had bacon. I also had an egg that I wanted on top which is extra. All of the components come separately on the plate and you create your own way of having it. Without having the egg on top it was under $9 my grandson had the breakfast burrito which he said was delicious. Unfortunately I don't remember our waitress's name but she was very helpful with all of our needs. To top it all off when we sat down in the waitress come over she brought us a bowl of mini cinnamon rolls. See the picture below. All in all it was a five-star visit.
So glad we stopped here!! Complimentary cinnamon rolls and yeast rolls. Yum! Hubs had chicken fried steak with white gravy, beans & rice, and corn. I had the roast beef hoagie with au jus and fries. It was all delicious! Chicken fried steak was tender and breaded on site, homemade gravy. Pretty sure the cinnamon rolls and yeast rolls are also homemade. Server was super sweet, attentive, and quick. 6/15/2025
Calico County Restaurant is a true gem in Amarillo—a place that feels like a warm hug from the moment you walk in. Whether you’re stopping in for a late breakfast or a hearty dinner, the menu is packed with tons of options to satisfy any craving. One of the best parts? Breakfast is served all day, and it’s everything you’d hope for—fluffy pancakes, crispy bacon, savory omelets, and more. The service was excellent—friendly, fast, and attentive without being overbearing. It felt like dining with family. Our server made great recommendations and kept everything flowing smoothly, even during a busy time. You can tell they take pride in what they do here. Whether you’re in the mood for comfort food classics, a full Southern-style breakfast, or something lighter, Calico County has you covered. The food is fresh, portions are generous, and the atmosphere is welcoming. It’s the kind of place you’ll want to visit again before you even leave the parking lot. A must-stop if you’re passing through Amarillo!
Looking for a local great breakfast off the interstate. Wanted a place that would accommodate our 30’ motorhome & 16’ car hauler. This was PERFECT! Our server Hillaria was fantastic. She was quick to table, offering answers to wife’s questions, & quick to refill coffee. I love biscuits and gravy when I travel & they didn’t disappoint. Sausage had a little heat & tasted great. Gravy was delicious & biscuits soft. Ordered a side of country potatoes making my meal fantastic. Wife said her eggs were cooked to perfection, pancakes delicious/fluffy, & bacon just right. Look at pictures to see this grand meal. Cinnamon rolls were free! This is just a short distance from interstate, but 100% worth it. Inside was very nice, clean, & well set up. Staff were quick to clean tables. We got there just after opening & it filled up quickly by locals. That should say more than even my reviews. This place will be our breakfast stop every time we travel through
Before the food comes out you receive a basket of warm bread and cinnamon rolls which were delicious. I had the fried fish with cabbage and mashed potatoes - which were great. They have a huge menu selection. The service was good as well. The fried green tomatoes were well seasoned but should have cooked harder.
If you’re looking for some home style cooking, look no further. Calico County Restaurant delivers all the way. The food was hot and delicious, the prices weren’t expensive, and the service was great. The fried pickles were absolutely delicious! When we went, you got a free order of pickles (that visit or another) for creating a FREE account with them to earn points towards every visit.
Saw this amazing vintage sign and had to stop. Very hearty portions and wonderful service. Dinner for two ran about $28. Interior is everything you expect from a country cookin’ spot in the panhandle although the blue neon had a weird bar vibe. Breakfast served all day. Would definitely recommend if you like diners, local flare and are hungry.
Food was excellent. The waitress brought everyone a cup of black eyed peas since we were there on New Year's Day.

This was a great find in Amarillo right off Rt 40! Super service, good food, clean restaurant!! We had a wonderful breakfast!
I was seated promptly and my order taken. My server brought out two of their little cinnamon rolls which were delicious. My main course was the two egg breakfast with sausage and home potatoes with biscuits and gravy. Frankly, except for the cinnamon rolls that Calico County is famous for, and the fried potatoes which were VERY tasty, everything else was pretty much run of the mill - eggs over easy with a side of sausage. Adequate, but nothing really stood out. When I got ready to pay my bill I had to hunt for someone to work the register, but an employee was found and all ended well.
I had a chicken fried steak. Although it was the half order, it was a large portion and delicious. It had jalapeño gravy for a slight kick. I also tried the fried fish with coleslaw. The fish was crispy and the portions are large. The coleslaw was freshly made with a good mayonnaise coverage, seasoned with pepper and celery seed. It truly is homemade southern cooking. I didn't try the Mexican food or breakfast but I heard it was also delicious. To top it off, our waitress was very attentive. I would recommend for home cooking with a wide variety of choices. (Next time I will try the fried green tomatoes.)
Reading the reviews we had to try it out. I would agree the cinnamon rolls and the rolls were yummy to start with. One order was chicken fried chicken (yum!) with jalapeño gravy on the side(smart move, it was hot), okra (yum) and corn (um, yuck..glorified out of the can). One ordered pot roast (yum yum), boiled potatoes , and the brócoli rice casserole (yum). Kids plate was chicken strips (yum) and mashed potatoes (skin was on.. kid is picky. Was not good for him). Waitress tried, but really didn’t focus on us. Jalapeño gravy was hot so had to take the gravy from the kids plate as the waitress didn’t come to check on us till mid meal. I told her I stole my kids gravy, she didn’t even catch the hint. It is a good place to eat. Very clean as well. To see them pull booths out to clean wasn’t something most restaurants do anymore.
Older fashion type eating place with younger servers bringing life to the experience. Good range of meal options.
Love stopping in at Calico County on the way out to for our ski trips! They serve a fantastic breakfast where you can get the eggs in all sorts of styles (garden, Southwest, sausage, etc) and complimentary (and very tasty) cinnamon rolls (something you won’t get at IHOP or Denny’s). It has a nice large and nostalgic seating area. Service was a little slow this past trip, but the wait staff was reasonably attentive. Cream cheese icing on the rolls and quicker food would put this spot over the top.
We went for lunch on Easter Sunday. We expected it to be busy, and we were correct. Only about a 10 to 15 minute wait. My wife ordered the hamburger steak with cabbage and fried okra. She said everything was really good. The meal came with fresh rolls and cinnamon rolls as well. Both were great. I ordered the turkey and dressing, which is only available on Sunday until they run out. Turkey was juicy, and the dressing was great with chunks of onion and celery. My sides were broccoli and rice casserole, not a lot of flavor but still good. Black-eyed peas as well, no real flavor, but I don't mind. I added salt, and everything was good. The restaurant is a little old and needs some updating and was not spotless . But we will try again for sure. The food was good.
The chicken was wonderful nicely cooked waffles were bomb service was wonderful our server was great, nice atmosphere over the ambiance was good.

Had breakfast here. Food was good and reasonably priced. Restaurant was clean and the staff was friendly and provided quick service.
While the food is always great, the service is consistently not great. I keep coming back though hoping this will change.
My family and I ate there Nov. 3 2025. Our meals were barely warm, food was okay, need to turn up the heat for a good hot meal.
I always love the food here. I've never had a complaint and have been eating here for years. Today I came to pick up just a pint of their baked squash casserole. Absolutely love it but today I was totally shocked when I was charged $11.99 + tax for a pint that wasn't even filled to the top. I know things have gone up in price but $11.99 for a pint of squash!?! I could have refused and left but I don't do things that way. Guess I'll just order a regular meal instead of just the casserole.. better value
This is my family's first time trying this place as a recommendation from my tio. The food was amazing!! Now when it came to the server.. she seemed a little annoyed.. im not sure if she was having a bad day or something but I def wouldn't want her as my server next time. She definitely wasn't a friendly face or very talkative. She might need a little talking to about her attitude. I think her name was hillaria? Or something to that effect but otherwise I would def love to come back.
Husband ordered breakfast and was pleased, but I had the choose two items with a grilled ham and cheese sandwich with potato soup. Soup was good but grilled sandwich was cold! Cheese not melted and the slice of ham cold. Sent back and just ordered grilled cheese. When I received the grilled cheese, I was told it was 'hit or miss ' when it came to the sandwich!
We have ordered take out from Calico since Covid hit in 2020 to help them stay in business. I think they are under new management in recent years. Unfortunately they frequently get our order wrong. Today is the latest screw up. I don’t know who fills the order but if it is the person working the window you need to seriously consider replacing the young men with older women, like it used to be. The boy seems more interested in chatting on his phone than working the window. My order was supposed to be ready for pick up at 12:00. It wasn’t and seldom is when we order take out from Calico. You may wonder why we return if our experience has been so bad? Primarily because they are one of two places that have turkey and dressing on Sunday. I am fed up with being ignored at the drive up window, being told my order is not ready at the time promised and getting something other than what I ordered. Pictures are included of the order/receipt today and the two meals we received. Also did not get extra dressing per request. One of the meals we received looks peculiarly like roast beef rather than turkey and dressing.

I was recommended this place by the hotel I’m staying in. Saving grace of my experience was the food. I watched all of the staff gather very closely to my table talking about how they wanted to be cut and I watched my server take her bellybutton ring out and put it back in, right at the computer. Manager was standing there the whole time. Food was outstanding
Driving through Amarillo we were excited to see they had a Calico County as I grew up eating there after church every Sunday with my family as a child in Lawton, OK. We stopped passing through. We got there 30 mins before closing and knowing that we tried to be curtious of their time. We ordered right away drinks, appetizer, meals and dessert togo. It all came at the same time too including appetizer. My daughter's kids pot pie was just like chicken soup no "pie" I was excited to get the grilled catfish and it came fried. The waitress was humble enough to admit she made the mistake and would take it back. I said. "No. Yall are about to close I will just eat it the way it is." She said, " I'll see if I can get it half off for you since it was my mistake." When it was addressed to the manager she told me I couldn't get the discount because I didn't send it back for remake. If I had sent it back for remake I would have got a discount. I told the .anager the waitress said she would ask since it was her mistake. Manager daid, "I dont know why she would tell you that, i am the only one who can make that decision" Makes no sense to me since the waitress admitted her mistake and i wasnt wasting food. To top it all off, we bussed our own table and tried to make it as easy as possible since we came in 30 min before closing. We tipped 20% and paid our full ticket approx $56. Some would say I shouldn't have tipped. However, the waitress tried to make it right, but her manager was rude and didn't accommodate. There was more that was disatisfying but I think you get the gist. I don't usually give bad reviews as I have my own food blog/tiktok that shows off local restaurants. I had hoped to showcase Calico County as it held so many memories for me. Two stars because it was clean despite its old facade and my dad and husband enjoyed their BLT sandwiches. Our waitress was pleasant despite her mistakes. UPDATE: I called the number below, as requested by the owner, and no one answered. The mailbox was full.
Food was poor quality, the sausage gravy was separating. Waitress was inattentive and didn't bring what was ordered. Cannot recommend.
My meal is often undercooked. Last Saturday I was served biscuits & gravy. The biscuit turned into a ball of dough in my mouth. The cinnamon rolls were the same, undercooked & inedible. Why does the manager tolerate this?
I ordered one pan of the broccoli rice casserole for my TG feast. I got home and I noticed I paid for 2 and not one. Then I tasted it and it was horrible. They pickled it up. I didnt see any broccoli in it. We threw both pans away. I called the next morning and talked to Destiny and told her what happened. She seemed sincere to talk to the owner and would call me right back. Still have had no call back. Now Im really disappointed in the customer service I didn’t get. They didn’t make it right!
Came in for breakfast this morning. Waited 15 minutes and nobody even asked me what I wanted to drink. During this time, a large party and a younger couple that were seated after me were already getting service. I have never had poor service at Calico County and this is the only place I go for a sit-down breakfast. I expect better from Calico County. I will be back again, but not today.
This has been, by far, the worst restaurant I have ever been to, food-wise. The chicken fried steak was tough and unappetizing and the gravy was so unflavorful it didn't help. The cinnamon rolls were so hard that they had to be microwaved in order to become edible. The eggs were extremely slimy and not cooked well at all. The omelette had a literal slice of Kraft Single cheese on top. Overall, the flavors were totally bland as the food was also not seasoned properly, and everything was cooked extremely poorly. Our waitress also failed to bring us a side of egg, which we reminded her of. However, after seeing the quality of our meal we were not bothered by its absence. I would not recommend this to anyone, and am perplexed and honestly worried by the rave reviews.
Was sat at a table and waited on someone to come take our order for 20 minutes, went up front and told the staff we were still waiting, waited another 10 minutes and still no one. Just stares from the staff. Could’ve profited off of a table of 8 but you let us just walk out the door without saying a word. More than disappointed. Unacceptable customer service. Absolutely do not recommend.
This place has gone downhill. Food had no flavor. The cinnamon rolls were cold, hard, stale. Asked for fresh and the waitress said “I have to give these out first before the fresh ones can be served”. Toast burnt and hash browns cold. Made the mistake of using the restroom there and it reeked of urine and mildew. Awful experience!!!
I have NEVER in all the years of coming to CALICO COUNTY had such an experience as we had today. It was like a bunch of ants that had been interrupted while going to their ant hill. Wait staff running back and forth like headless chickens, loud, rowdy people, cold food, horrible fries, cold hard rolls and cinnamon buns! For a $50 meal we could have gone up the street to Bubbas or Texas RH and they might be loud but at least the food would have been good and the wait staff friendly. I would give them a negative star if I could have.
This place deserves a better review but they need to make sure the young kids running front of house have the support they need to do a good job. These kids took my to-go order, I paid and gave them a tip, then they let my food sit in their to-go counter (not heated) for half an hour. They did not tell me I needed to remind them to check on my order, so I thought they would bring it to me when it was ready. Nope. I got cold food half an hour later, no to go flatware, no butter or jelly with the biscuit, no butter or honey with the grits—and the y taste bad plain so probably low quality. No customer service whatsoever. I love seeing young people working but they need guidance on how to do a good job. I will not go back.
This was the at least the 3rd time in about 2 months that the service was awful. We were seated and no one came to take our drink order or said anything. After another 20 minutes we asked a passing waitress to take our order and she said she would go check on it. We waited another 10-15 minutes and just got up and walked out. They were not busy, maybe 6 other tables with customers. We never even got to order our drinks. Same story the other 2 times.
Service was amazing! Our waitress was so sweet and very attentive. The bread they brought out to our table was good. I ordered hot chocolate and was not happy with it. It tasted watered down, my husband said his coffee was the same and so did my son with his tea. The food presentation was good as well, but the tast of my waffle was horrible. Tasted just like oil residue, I couldn't even eat it. The aftertaste was nasty. The chicken wasn't too bad, it was juicy and there was actual meat on it so it was good. I also tried my husband's French toast and it also had no flavor. It tasted just like a piece of bread..not actual French toast. My daughter ordered the breakfast special and I tried her hashbrowns and they tasted like oily potatoes. Not good at all and her pancake had the same weird taste that my waffle had. My overall experience with the food was a 2/10. Like i said, the service was fantastic and it's a shame that a place with such great staff has little to no flavor food.
I want to start by saying that Calico County is one of mine and my husband's favorite restaurants and we tell people all the time how good the food and service is. Tonight we took my brother who is visiting from out of town there. This is by far the worst experience I have had there or at any restaurant. We arrived at at 8:12 p.m. and were seated promptly. We placed our order shortly there after. We did not receive our food until 4 minutes to 9 p.m. Our waitress was sitting in the booth on the other side of the wall behind the register talking with the manager the majority of our wait. Our food was lukewarm and our appetizer was cold. I ordered the chicken and waffle and had sent it back because the chicken was not done. They advised they were remaking the entire dish. The manager took my order off and comp'd the rest of the ticket 25%. I received the new chicken and waffle dish and when I cut into the chicken there was still a big raw center. This was truely disappointing. The picture is of the 2nd piece of chicken.
