I can't even begin to explain how good the catfish is! You have to try for yourself its that good

Forgot how good this place is..was glad to visit after a long time..had the Medium Catch..well cooked Catfish! Love the hush-puppies.

Wonderful experience, the food was great the service was nice and the owner was very friendly. You also get a lot of food too and it's delicious. Would definitely recommend this love if you're ever passing through Amarillo Tx.

This was my first time eating here. I ordered 2 catfish baskets and an order of fried mushrooms. The fries are good, they're homestyle cut. The catfish strips are well seasoned and cooked perfectly. The mushrooms were good sized and beer battered. I'll definitely be going back to try other things as they have gator on the menu.

Highly recommend that, but the fillets are fantastic. Best catfish ever period, and I’ve tried a lot. It’s no frills, or gills.. blues themed and some would say a hole in the wall type place but you will not disappointed. Order the medium catch or whole fish if you’re inclined. Eat the pickle and onion with the fish like Russians. Cheers friends!

Matter of fact, I flew in on Wednesday and stopped by before visiting family. The fish tastes super fresh, with great texture. The sides are decent, but the fish is definitely the star.

Short review: Great food. Generous portions. Affordable price. Detailed review: First time to go here. It was highly recommended to me by my Facebook friends. VERY well worth it. We had the 16 piece family dinner (at $32 well worth it, although the 10 piece would've sufficed due to the size of the fillets), and had 5 fillets, a half-dozen hush puppies, and a bunch of fries left. Lunch tomorrow! It also comes with beans & slaw. The fillets are enormous. They have a tank, so it's all fresh. All of the food was very good, not greasy like some other places can be. Nothing like sitting there, eating great catfish, while listening to some great blues music. Highly recommend.

I've been coming here for many years. I've never dined in because I don't like eating alone my husband doesn't like seafood I reckon it is a fairy nice place to eat kind of Nostalgic which is pretty cool.I can't rate any of the other food they serve I only get the Large Catch which consists of five very large catfish filets you better well be hungry to be able to eat all of them along with the sides I don't really care for I don't like their beans very bland don't like coleslaw hushpuppies are always hard and the French fries always old and cold but OMG the fish is awesome because I always tell the waitress to tell the chef how I want it fried and it's perfect everytime like I said I've been going there for over 15yrs to pick up my order it's always ready when they say it will be ready.I have ate other fish over time but it's Freddie's Fish and Grill family of the Fatcat keep me coming back!!

The catfish was amazing. The French fries left something to be desired and the hush puppies were to hard to eat. My friend said the mac'n'cheese was good. Worth going for the fish!

I had heard a lot about this place so I finally went. I had fried catfish. It was served with fries, slaw and beans. It was excellent. Large portions and great taste. Wonderful service. A little place in an out if the way location. Highly recommend.

One of the best catfish as fish to eat in Amarillo. I prefer the okra for my side. Feel free to experience the taste of the city, but you would be missing out if you did not try it for yourself.

Best catfish i have ever had (cajun). The cajun crab also has an awesome taste but has been overcooked/dry both times i have had it (otherwise it would be the best I have had too). The service was very slow this last time (some people left) but was ok before.

I don't know why I don't like fancy uppity restaurants- much prefer mom and pop type joints... like Fat Cats. Probably the best catfish and taters in town. It would've got 5 stars but I dang near froze my butt off in there today. If you've never been- quit farting around and get yourself over there.

If you're looking for atmosphere don't go. If you want good food be sure to stop. The french fries hush puppies and coleslaw are good. The fish is somewhat better but the pinto beans are heavenly. The property is clean but is a bit of a dump.

Phenomenal food! Super nice waitress. I can't recall how we found this place when we were in town (word of mouth?). They have a ton of people who come for carryout or parking would be an issue. Saved the 5th star due to ambiance - I love a real dive though! (My wife wouldn't allow it...yes, dear)

My son and I ordered the catfish. Fish came with little dishes of beans, cole slaw and french fries. The cat fish was great. The fries were cold. We went when it was in the 20s an it was very cold inside. I left my coat on an gloves until the food came. I would have lrft for warmer restaurant but my son would have been embarrassed so i endured.

For some reason, it was really hot in the building, and my waitress didn't speak enough English to understand what I was trying to tell her. I'm not upset with the waitress because she was really nice and trying so hard.. Anyways the only thing I was disappointed with was the hushpuppies!! I ate here a few years back, and man, they were like soft and fluffy..kinda like cake pops..they were heaven! This time they were tiny burnt and hard. So sad I talked those up for months and we finally got a chance to go eat there..but atleast the fish was good.

Orderd the combination plate with catfish and shrimp fried okra and beans. The fish was okay could of been seasoned a little better fried soft how I like my fish fried. The fried okra was under cooked like they took it straight out the freezer batter them then put them in the fryer not good.I did enjoy the fried shrimp everything is fried here they might want to offer grilled fish and shrimp. The beans were good just not enough considering the portion sizes of the other side. The service was good the waitress was very aware of what was on the menu and what was good to try. Food came out in a timely manner.

When our dinner finally came out, we ordered the Combo plates, I really liked the big portions of catfish we got and the shrimp was good also. I wouldn't say the shrimp was fresh though. As for everything else I tried them and didn't like any. I didn't care for the beans they were plain, nor the cole slaw and definitely not the tartar sauce. Maybe I'm just very picky of those things but they all missed the mark for me. I honestly don't see us going back.

Bad service it’s like the waitress didn’t want to help drinks were empty the whole time not one refill. The order was way wrong. Ordered the catfish strip basket and got 2 strips of catfish and one of chicken here it is on lent and I can’t eat meat of that sort thinking I could rely on getting good order but guess no relying on any type of good service here. It will have to be a whole new wait staff before I come back here and way over sensoned food way to much salt.

We showed up instantly liked the place. Placed our order, the place was not busy at all, with only one other table dining. It took an hour and a half before we got our food. Turns out that the waitress forgot to turn in our order. The food was mediocre at best and they refuse to discount anything or compensate for the bad service. It was not a large order. Just for my son and myself. People should stay clear of this place.

Beautiful dining area and jazz was playing. I was excited. Until I got my food. Shrimp was overcooked and out the box. But catfish was well seasoned. I went there because there was alligator on the menu thinking it would be like Pappadaux and I didn't need to drive to Albuquerque or Dallas. How wrong and disappointed I was. Owner has several side hustles, making mugs, tee-shirts and sells firewood.
