We ate outside on the patio and the area was shaded so it wasn’t too hot or sunny. Service was very quick and friendly! The two salsas we tried tasted fresh, with a little kick but not overly hot. The enchiladas rojas weren’t at all spicy and I might have enjoyed a little kick, but regardless I ate nearly all my meal. The burritos are huge and filled with rice and beans and whichever meat you choose.
This spot truly captures the essence of great Mexican dining. The atmosphere is top-notch, especially if you snag a seat at the bar—it's the place to be. The space exudes good vibes, with lively music and a warm, inviting ambiance. The food is fresh, homemade, and bursting with authentic flavors, leaving no doubt that it's made with love. Every bite tastes like a home-cooked meal, which makes it one of my go-to places when I crave something truly special. The complimentary chips and salsa are the perfect start, and they add a delightful touch to the overall experience. Parking is easy and convenient, and the location is next to one of my favorite Mexican grocery stores, which serves fresh food as well. It’s a bonus being able to pop in for groceries after enjoying such a great meal. I love that the staff here is genuinely passionate, with roots from South America, which adds even more authenticity to the experience. There’s nothing else like this in Lakeville, so I happily make the drive to Apple Valley for this little slice of heaven! Highly recommend it if you’re looking for incredible food, an inviting atmosphere, and a truly memorable dining experience. Follow for more fabulous places around the twin cities
We've been a few times and enjoyed the dishes and service has been great! Tonight was no different! Patio seating, tasty food (so much better than most Mexican places in the TC area!) and great service.
I usually don’t write reviews but this is this best Mexican food I’ve ever had in my life. I accidentally stumbled across this restaurant. It was snowing and I was hungry and didn’t want to drive far. I was across the street at BMO and HAD TO turn right one the one way. I had no idea what kind of restaurant this was but I thought the grocery store next door was Korean. Bodega 42 and Homshuk are not traditionally Mexican or Spanish names I recognize. To be honest if I knew it was Mexican food i would have passed on it because I didn’t wasn’t in the mood for Mexican food. As I walked in I realized it was a Mexican restaurant and I looked over the menu it was pretty standard. I ordered shrimp appetizer and pork belly tacos. I usually don’t eat pork but I ordered it because originally I thought the grocery store next door was Korean and I wanted Korean food but settled for Mexican. The food came out and I took one bite of the shrimp and the flavors hit my taste buds with memories of my trip to Mexico. I am a cook so I could tell the ingredients were quality and the details were well thought of. I could tell the shrimp had been marinated in lime before being grilled over an open fire. Then I took a bite out of my pork belly tacos. Personally I was surprised the tacos didn’t come with a side of salsa verde or rojo. I’ve never had pork belly tacos before but the combination of the savory and sweet pork with the fresh pickled red onions just took me to heaven. It everything was perfection. No need for hot sauce. I was surprised the tacos came with Mexican rice and beans. I also don’t like refried beans and usually order Mexican food without it because beans are usually flavorless filler food. But this refried bean was so good I ate all of it. It was rich with pork fat? And also a hint of spicy, jalapeño mixed in there? I literally cried as I was eating this food because it was so delicious. I also loved the Bachata music playing. Great atmosphere. I went on a Friday at 2pm so there was a few people. I noticed that they have garage doors that open. Seems like a fun time when the weather gets warmer. I will definitely be back with all my friends and family. I enjoyed myself thoroughly and feel blessed to stumble across this gem. I can’t wait to try their $2 taco Tuesdays! I really appreciate every quality detail in the food, the music and the atmosphere. My usual favorite Mexican/Latino food in the south metro is Los Grandes in Burnsville (my Mexican boyfriend and I would eat there twice a week) or El Sazon in Eagan. Que Taco in Savage. I did check out the grocery store next door and I’m excited they have ready to made food as well. I love the selection of ready made salsa and cakes! I also included some photos but apologies I didn’t think I was going to be sharing them on here. I was just sending my friend what I ate for lunch. My only criticism was that I was by myself and wonder if that was the reason I didn’t get some free chips and salsa? I did see another woman who got some but I didn’t know if she ordered it.
First time here and not the last. Had the hibiscus passion fruit mojito, south American mango old fashioned, spicy pineapple margarita, Agua chile, flautas, and octopus and the chips and salsa with salsa de aqucate. I think all the food was so good. The flautas was my favorite because they used their rotisserie chicken in it. The meat was so tender and flavorful. I have had flautas that the meat was kinda dry but this was anything but. We enjoyed the octopus, but I think the smoky flavor really overshadowed the flavor that was supposed to be on the octopus guajillo sauce, didn't really taste that. But the octopus was cooked perfectly so we enjoyed it. Aqua Chile was a mix of delicious spiciness and limieness, the only thing I wished was that the shrimp was cut into bite size pieces it would be a little easier to eat. Delicious appetizer, must order. We loved the salsa also, can't go wrong here. The owner is the best! We love to frequent his other restaurant, Orale and Homshuk does not disappoint. Go here for the drinks, the food and the atmosphere you will not be disappointed.
Great experience! Came here for the first time and beyond glad I did! I think I might’ve found my new go to Mexican restaurant. I believe this restaurant is fairly new. I love the layout and the vibe. There’s also garage doors that go up which is probably super nice during the summer months. I ordered the asada fries as well as the sopas. The food came out relatively quick, the food was hot and delicious. I also absolutely loved their cocktails!!! The presentation was phenomenal and the flavor was absolutely amazing.
The atmosphere at Homshuk is fresh and open. The dinning room is clean and neat. Great bar and tap list. The garage style doors to the patio are going to be killer this summer. The food is fresh from the attached grocery store. Check it out. You will be impressed. Maybe even a new favorite!
Upscale flavors at an affordable cost! This just became one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in Apple Valley. We ordered the Sopes and the California Burrito (one of my favorite burritos to order at places). I can easily recommend both of these dishes. Can’t wait to try it again!

Great authentic Mexican! 🇲🇽 Happy Hour is worth stopping by and the drinks are very good! The carne asada fries and esquites are a must try! Perfect spot for a date! 🌮

We always have such a fun time at Homshuk - lovely staff, delicious drinks (the horchata martini is good every single time), and good food! Harrison is wonderful (and our favorite) and just makes you feel welcome. We always come here when something big happens and will continue to do so! 🥂
This restaurant is my favorite in the community. The hospitality, great food and drinks keep me coming back often! My favorite dish is the shrimp fajitas and I love the pineapple margaritas too. I have worked with Harrison on several catering orders and everything has always been fresh, delicious and on time. Lastly I love the vibe of the patio in the summer months. It has a cozy neighborhood feel. The Manager and staff there are the best! - Kristin Olson
If you want some real Mexican food and not your typical Americanized version this is the place. Yes they have street tacos and burritos but you can also get a great flank steak or wood fired chicken that is delicious. They also have octopus and seafood dishes. Staff was very friendly and stopped by often to check on us. If you want meal that's not ordinary this is the place.
Hidden Gem, maybe! But it really should get the love it deserves, service outstanding! I thought Hannah had stellar service. The food was out in 10 min after ordering with quality plating and the food was delicious! There really isn’t much else to say if you want authentic Mexican food with a good atmosphere this is the place to be. Oh…. Don’t let me forget Bodega 42 the connected panaderia. Yeah it’s amazing as well! If you don’t want the deserts on the menu swing on over to Wanda in the bakery! She will help you decide on all the delicious treats they have to offer. She helped us plan our wedding deserts and we couldn’t be more excited!

Neat, clean environment with friendly staff The food was tasty with a good variety of traditional dishes with a flare. Nice variety of garnishes and Sauces, spices and seasonings were on point. The protein in the fajitas was slightly dry but everything else was cooked well. This is a nice addition to AppleValley.
Had a great first experience at Homshuck and will definitely be back. We ordered the chorizo queso to start and it was very good. I wish it had come with more chips. For entrees I ordered the Wet burrito with chicken tinga and my husband got the carne asada tacos. Both were very good! The burrito was huge and I for sure had leftovers.
Came here for lunch with my folks and we were all overall pleased with the experience. The best part? The portions were big! I was expecting a couple regular sized flautas but got 3 super long ones which seemed to equal like 6 small regular ones. It was more than enough for me. My dad absolutely loved his carne asada fries which were an appetizer but the serving was huge and he didn’t even finish it. My mama enjoyed her quesadilla as well. The worst part? My only real complaint was about my drink and the dessert. My dad and I ordered an agua de tamarindo (tamarin drink) but it wasn’t fresh like they typically are. It was just a powdered mix and that’s not common for Mexican restaurants. Even though the atmosphere was more on the “High-End American” side, the food was pretty authentic so I was disappointed to see the drink was not authentic so we both didn’t ask for a refill because of it. We also wanted a slice of tres leches but it was $10 and that seemed way overpriced. Other than that though, it was a good experience and we’d consider coming back! I do have to give credit to them too for making a special order when we asked for “chilles toreados” which is grilled jalapeños. That was super nice of them.
Came for breakfast/brunch two weekends in a row. Had their breakfast burrito and tacos with chorizo. Wife had their chilaquiles with carnitas both times. The food is really good and the service is great 👍. Come support this great spot for breakfast/brunch. Huge patio, bar, and conecting bodega.

Food looked delicious but I would say it's just decent. Not bad, but nothing amazing. Our waitress and other staff were fantastic. I'd say the music was too quiet but once there are a lot of people there the building is super noisy even without music you can hear. We loved our drinks and will definitely go back to try dessert sometime too.

We came here on Thanksgiving, and while the food wasn’t terrible, it definitely wasn’t great. I understand it was a holiday and staffing can be difficult, but the service felt rushed and inattentive. Our food came out ridiculously fast, and unfortunately it tasted like it — not fresh and not flavorful. No one checked on us after our meals were dropped off. I ordered tacos and wasn’t even asked if I wanted salsa or anything on the side, which was surprising. Overall, the experience felt very “get in and get out.” I definitely won’t be making a trip back.
Tacos are good. The staff seems very friendly! Carnitas are a little dry. Fish tacos were just alright. California burrito with hot chicken was very average. Chips were cold and stale. Salsa was alright, not impressing, however the guacamole was pretty solid and has a kick of spice. Queso was also pretty good, just disappointed the chips were stale and cold.

The food was awful. The Aguas frescas were really good, but the tortilla chips were cold and stale, the pulpo a la parilla was so disappointing. It was tough, slimy, and chewy and had very little flavor. I have had pulpo and enjoyed it prepared this way before, this was an issue of either severly overcooking it or having poor quality (likely frozen) seafood. The corn Tortillas that came with the plate were flimsy, cold, and easily broke apart. They also tasted store bought. The steak woth chimichurri was also not done according to taste, came out semi-warm, and had a bizarre texture as well. The choriqueso was simply fine, any hole in the wall Mexican restaurant would have better queso dip. Definitely not worth the expense, and safe to say we were extremely disappointed. The atmosphere was excellent, it is a clean beautiful restaurant with plenty of parking, but the food itself was edible (at best). Service was mediocre as we came at kind of a weird time (2pm).
Bad experience with the food My family and I decided to have lunch here because we kept seeing it on social media, but it turned out to be a big disappointment. While the service was excellent and the place itself nice, the food was really bad. There were four of us and we all left our plates almost untouched: the steak was undercooked, the guacamole had a very unpleasant taste, and the chicken was poorly prepared. To top it off, it felt way too expensive for what we got. Definitely would not come back.
