Probably the best meal i had during my week in US. This place is highly rated and pretty crowded so a reservation is recommended specially during weekends. The ambience is nice with good music not to noisy. The service was pretty good, the server was sweet and took effort to understand the customer and preferences and suggest dishes accordingly. The complimentary buns were super soft and the crab cakes were definitely some of the best seafood i had. Definately recommend to someone to give it a try when around the twin cities
This place is a must. ALL of the dishes were amazing and the service was top tier. It's not often you can go to a restaurant and leave thinking the whole experience was delightful and food is all delicious.
Beautiful spot with a cozy outdoor seating area, lovely flowers and sturdy patio furniture with a lot of shade. The slow jazz in a background sets a perfect mood. The popovers were a great touch, and the walleye, shrimp, and cheesecake were all excellent.
If you’ve never been to Jensen’s Supper Club, it’s simply a must go to. I had never been and I was born and raised in the Twin Cities. The restaurant has the typical supper club feel that I grew up with. It is well maintained and classic. The staff was friendly and helpful. The food was absolutely outstanding. Each item was cooked to perfection. Our server, Brandell, was knowledgeable and attentive. It was a birthday dinner and they topped it off with the most amazing chocolate cake. Truly a 5⭐️ dining experience.
We dined here with my grandparents. Reservations were booked but we were able to get a table because we ate really early. Comfortable table with a good sound level. Our server was very good, knew the menu, well spoken and had great timing. Food was delicious, no complaints from anybody! Treat your family to a nice steak dinner at this Eagan Steakhouse
This place is great if you are looking for a fancy & romantic meal. The lighting is dim and the booths are great. It wasn’t super busy last night when we were there at 4pm and it was nice not to be seated directly next to other people. We both got the NY strip meal and both of our steaks were delish. Yum. The salads were good and I loved the sweet one with mandarin oranges on top. Popovers were great with honey butter. We got mushrooms and garlic mashed potatoes on the side. My only complaint is the mashed potatoes were slightly dry, so I’d ask for some sour cream or butter 🙂. This is where we go for our anniversary and it’s been great each time. We spent $150 for 2 sodas, 2 ny strip meals, one crab cake, mushroom side and potato side.
Was excellent. Steak and lobster were absolutely perfect. Bread which is included with the meals amazing(a mix between a cream puff (Wisconsin state fair) and a croissant. Cesar salad amazing fresh, perfect. Our server was excellent. Very efficient, professional, friendly. (Male dark hair tall worked Friday 7/26/24) can’t remember his name but he was great! Food and drinks came out quick. The steak seasoning was excellent! Lobster cooked to perfection! Excellent prices for a great quality steak.
My boyfriend and I were doing some shopping at the Eagan Outlets and stopped by Jensens for weekend brunch/lunch. When you walk in, you can tell it’s a loved establishment. The crowd definitely seemed to skew a bit older. For brunch, we enjoyed the prime rib hash and crab cake Benedict. The food was phenomenal. A few things on the menu that caught my eye and I’d love to go back for another relaxed lunch. The restaurant definitely seems to be more upscale and fancy for dinner. Our brunch came with complimentary pop overs, delicious! The service was kind and attentive, our server was a little slow but it did not impact our meal at all. I’d definitely go back for lunch and recommend for a day time stop.
Our family loves this place! The freshly baked pop overs with honey butter are mouth watering and delicious! The lobster mac n cheese was amazing. And the lobster bisque is perfect. Good service also. Does get busy during dinner hours so best to make a reservation ahead of time and please be patient with the servers, they do their best to keep up and do a good job.
We went to the dinner club to celebrate my mom's 70th birthday and my stepfather's 87's birthday. We all had a wonderful time. The host and wait staff were exceptionally kind and helpful. They brought out complimentary birthday cake, and had a slice for everyone in our party. Such a sweet surprise.
Hands down the best filet mingnon & eggs brunch I have ever had! Cooked to perfection with wonderful hints of garlic. The pop overs are delicious, served with sweet cream butter. I definitely recommend stopping by here if you haven't. This is one of my favorite spots and I love the choice of music! Such a fantastic place. 👏
Delicious food and a steak that you didn’t need a knife to cut – just a fork! It was good food and the atmosphere is fantastic. The patio was very small for the size restaurant. You’ll definitely want reservations if you are going Friday night or Saturday night because this place is very busy Dash indicative of how delicious the food was. I would recommend the swordfish, the New York steak, and definitely get the French onion soup. The desserts are large, too and very rich. You can probably get one and share it with another person. Overall a delightful evening! Five stars!
First time at Jensen's. Huge shout out to our server, Olga...she was awesome! Place has an old school vibe that pairs perfectly with the food and drinks. The glass shaker/strainer comes with the martini glass...love it! The popovers...just wow! Must try app is the Frikadeller. Super tasty Danish (not to be confused with Swedish) meatballs. Had to do it...when in MN, get the Walleye and this Walleye meets all expectations. I had it breaded, still flakey and perfectly prepared. And you get a salad with the meal. We also had ribs and shrimp (no shrimp photo....sorry). Ribs fell off the bone with a sweeter style BBQ sauce. I was told the shrimp was very good but I did not taste it. For desert, had to try the creme brulee against Olga's recommendation for cheesecake. It was ok but probably should have gone with the recommended homemade cheesecake. Overall, next time in MN...I would definitely return.
When dining solo, I prefer bar seating to avoid tying up a table. Jensen's bartenders were most welcoming, even after my line about being "not old enough to drink." In fact, the bar served other solo diners and couples during my leisurely meal, thus adding to the comfort I felt about being there. Over a couple of hours starting around 17:20, dinner started with a Heineken 0.0 NA, then a cup of French onion soup. After finishing the (excellent) soup, I ordered the sautéed walleye fillet *without* panko breading. It was preceded by Jensen's famous popover accompanied by a generous portion of whipped butter, and a green salad topped with mandarin orange slices and vinaigrette dressing. Here's a flavor hack to enhance the broiled walleye experience even more: run the tines of your fork through the popover plate's whipped butter just before skewering a bite of the walleye. Bartenders were glad to serve coffee with my dessert, a flourless chocolate torte with raspberry sauce & whipped cream. Anywhere else, "raspberry sauce" might be little more than a raspberry-flavored syrup, but Jensen's torte was generously covered with actual raspberries in a sauce with just the right balance of tart and sweet. The whipped cream was elegantly placed on the circumferential perimeter of the torte. My one suggestion? Jensen's, please consider size-pricing your chocolate torte by the circumferential inch (or centimeter). A slice 1/4 to 1/3 of what you served me would have been well worth the price for me and my appetite (based on years of living and eating in Japan). Others, with bigger appetites or an inclination to share one dessert among friends, would of course be pleased to order bigger slices. Thank you for a pleasant dining experience.
This Birthday Celebration was wonderful! Good food, great service. The food came out fast and hot. My favorite of the meals I had was this Salmon Entree with mashed potatoes. It was seasoned and cooked to perfection!
Top notch service and food. We are never disappointed here at Jensen's. I recommend making reservations, it's usually busy! The snow crab legs and lobster are always sweet and done to perfection. Our favorite is to make it a surf and turf with a sirloin. The French Onion soup is a great starter and Caesar salad comes with the meal. The other favorite thing about this restaurant is the warm popover and the amazing butter they add with it. I can guarantee it you will love this place as much as we do!
Wow just wow! Took my gf here here for Valentine's Day. My server Dave or David, showed us one of the best experiences I have ever had at a restaurant in years. Any question I had on the menue he was able to answer. Knew exactly how the Steak and Fish would be cooked and prepared. I had no doubt in my mind that this man knew exactly what he was doing and knew what to recommend. If you are looking for a romantic place to take the wife or the husband this is going to be your spot. The atmosphere is very friendly, professional, and hands down the food is top notch. I rarely give a place 5 stars, but this place definitely deserves it. I know that I will definitely be going back. The food is spendy, that's if your on a budget. But you get what you pay for. As soon as I walked in the door, I was greeted, and shown to my table. The waiter was there within minutes asking what I wanted to drink for the evening. Highly recommended.
One of my favorite places to eat! There is comfort food, but also wonderfully healthy options. I ordered the lemon garlic salmon. It was delicious! The green beans were cooked perfectly - not too soft, not to crunchy, and well-seasoned.
My new favorite supper club! Friendly staff, great drinks. I do adore the popovers. I enjoy their spin on the house salad. Very refreshing. I've had the prime rib, nice cut- big portion. The crab cakes were decent, but incredibly small for what I'm used to. I will be returning!
Wow! Gary did an awesome job taking care of us this evening! We tried many things and are coming back for more! Great job chef and staff! We loved everything!
Amazing dining experience! Great service! Food taste and presentation are very good! The bread they bring with their entrees is very special comes with sweat butter.
I had a Date night with my husband at this place and We had a very pleasant experience. The food was great and Delicious !! (5 stars to the back of the house. Thank you!!) And our waiter John was great and polite. I highly recommended this place. 👍
The food and service me and my husband received was beautiful. I loved the bread and would definitely come back for it.
Excellent steak, sides were mid though. They for sure could be better. Very homey inside and had a good warm feel. Service was great in my opinion.
Food and drinks were absolutely amazing, great service, I had the shrimp pasta, and it was delicious. My coworkers had walleye and a steak, food was hot and came out at a timely manner. Would recommend highly.
Wanted a quiet place to meet up with a friend to catch up. This place is perfect; we got a booth in a smaller section. The beautiful food is different from most places which a nice reflection of the atmosphere they have created here.
Had not been here in many years. It is the only good supper club in the area and I will be back more frequently. If you like to Axles in Mendota which is now closed, I suggest Jensen's.
Jensen's is always the best! I don't eat gluten and the popovers are worth it:). I love the petite fillets, green beans, asparagus and house salad. Martini is always a double. This place is so good!
We made reservations here to celebrate our anniversary last night and had an enjoyable experience. The service was truly top notch! John was our waiter. He and along with all of the staff were very attentive! Any time we had an empty dish every single staff that walked by would remove the dirty dish from our table. Several of the staff wished us a happy anniversary which was kind. We both commented on how stellar the staff were! The popovers with sweet butter were fantastic!! We would return!
What the hell is a supper club? That was my first question walking in. Is it dinner? Is it a secret society? Do I need a membership card and a password like “Meatloaf42”? Turns out, a supper club is apparently just a restaurant — but with fancier lighting, more butter, and a vibe that says, “Your grandparents definitely drank here.” The food? Awesome. The Old Fashioned? Strong enough to make you rethink all your life choices. The waitress called me “hon” twice, and I think that officially makes me part of the club now. Still not entirely sure what makes it super, but if “supper club” means great food, strong drinks, and feeling like you time-traveled to 1974 in the best way possible — I’m in.
Service was alittle slow. Our waiter was fantastic. The food was delicious, a little higher priced than I expected. Over all I highly recommend.
Jensen's yet again exceeded my expectations! I will say I do recommend a reservation if going on a Saturday night as I was lucky to get a seat at the bar or wait for an hour or so. Which is great for them as business is booming since everyone wants to eat their amazing food! The walleye Oscar was made great, the crab cake that was included also has amazing flavor. And the cesser salad also tasted fresh and great amount of dressing too! Looking forward to my next visit
My review as a first time patron. We were there for a birthday celebration and were seated right away. The service there was great, John or server was awesome - he made the night! We had the Bob's Bread to share - pretty good. My wife had the steak tip pasta and goulash soup, she liked both. I had the Sautéed Walleye and the salad with the vinaigrette dressing - didn't care for the dressing much it had orange slices in it... The walleye was overcooked and very dry, good thing it came with tarter sauce... We got the onion hash browns and that was pretty good. The other couple both got prime rib with Caesar dressing and garlic mashed potatoes. I didn't get photos of their meals, but they both enjoyed their meals. At the end of the meal John brought out a birthday cake - it was quite good, moist and chocolaty! The food brought the score down, otherwise I'd have said 5 stars. Overall I'd probably go back at least once more to give them a second chance.
We were looking for a new place to eat and I do not know why we haven't tried this place until now. We walked in and from looking at the decor I knew we were in for a treat. Our server Brandon was accommodating, and courteous and gave us a bit of history on Jensen's. After learning how long Jensen's had been open I was shocked this was our first time visiting. So we placed our drink order and ordered some crab cakes. The only reason I gave Jensen's 4 stars is because of the crab cakes, they had red onions in them and I've never had onions in my crab cakes and I do not care for them. And also because where we were sitting was perfect for two but the light was so bright it kind of took away from the ambiance. However, outside of that, it was fantastic. Now the popovers we had delivered to our table were so delicious, that we both enjoyed them so much. Also, the mixed drink I had was perfect, and I ordered the walleye Oscar and my significant other ordered the chicken Oscar. The food came out promptly and it was seasoned perfectly and made our dinner complete. Parking was great, the food was great, and the manager Jenny was beyond helpful as I shared my feedback with her. If you're looking for a place for date night with great food, service, and plenty of parking don't pass up this hidden gem.
My first visit and I will say I will return as I loved the food. Busy Wednesday evening around 6pm. No room at the bar but they gave me a table quickly after about a 7 minute wait. Nice folks work the front. I ordered a nice glass of Cabernet from California, a glass of water and John was my server and he brought liter bottle of stilled. delivered the wine and water quickly. I ordered the petite bacon wrapped filet medallions. They were excellent with just the right amount of seasoning, bacon added a great accompaniment of flavor. I had ordered a baked potato fully loaded as my side and it was everything that I could want with out cheese. The biggest disappointment was the house salad with vinegarette as the lettuce was tough, tired, chewy, old tasting droopy iceberg with a couple of pieces that should not have been put on a plate. (wilted brown) and distracting. I loved the popover with the honey butter. My biggest issue was the timing, John did a great job with popover, and salad, but the steak was 45 minutes later delivered hot. Waiter apologized twice as he came by checking on me. I watched other tables that came in after me recieve their appetizers, salads and entree before I received.
We really really didn’t know what to expect of this almost 30 year-old supper club in Eagan.. Had a $20 off coupon and ventured across the metro as we’re on a supper club kick. Ate outside on a warm October evening. Not a lot of charm on the outdoor patio, but I assume they were prepping to close the outdoor space out for the season. I could see there were planters scattered about. I’m sure the outdoor space was lovely in the thick of the summer. Re dinner…Warm popovers were lovely with a butter that had a bit of a sweet taste. I could’ve had more. My husband had the fillet. He wasn’t thrilled. I liked the walleye. A nice and light batter coating Signature salad is head lettuce w mandarin oranges and a bright dressing. Tried sides of au gratin potatoes…So so. .. And asparagus that really did not have a strong taste. - Although we realize it’s out of season. My martini was generous, and that was a bonus. Sweet and friendly staff, but the food did not have the depth and creativity we are used to. I will say trying any supper club can be a fun adventure so give it a try if you’ve got the coupon!
We tried this supper club for the first time. We did make a reservation so we had no problem getting in. I would say it is different then your typical supper club. The service was good. At first it was slow but it was busy. Our serve was great! We did try to get an after dinner drink and after waiting at the bar for 15 minutes we gave up. The food was very good. There spin on a the house salad was delicious most of the time it is a garden salad but they made their own and we loved the popovers and french onion soup. The one thing we really did not like was your meal does not include a side which the sides feed 2-4 people and were kind of expensive.
I have only been here once before years ago and it was, like many places, better then, but still above average now. We went for lunch. The atmosphere is better for conversation with carpeting and high padded booths so sound stays with you and you can hear your dining companions unlike industrial dining venues with open plans and no sound buffering. The complimentary endless popovers with honey butter were fantastic. The service was attentive but the server was stretched but very helpful and polite. My coconut shrimp was good but my house salad a bit lacking though stylish. My husband had the pasta with steak tips and said it was super. I am a dessert girl. I had creme brulee which was good but quite like warned vanilla pudding rather than custard which is common and I prefer actually, but it got perfect marks for the gorgeous factor. It was served with an edible orchid. It was hard to tell whether to really eat it or wear it, you can do either!
Cool, dark atmosphere. Great service. Sat at the bar and food came our quickly. The roll with dinner was incredible...ordered the oscar style walleye and portions were great, fresh taste and flavorful.
The squash soup was tasty and the 1/2 cajun shrimp salad was plentiful enough that I brought half of it home with me. We were a group of four who all enjoyed our lunch meals. Service was quick, attentive and friendly. We have already made plans to return.
Shrimp pasta - sauce seemed to have too much added, like they had a good flavor but kept trying to improve. Too much pepper. Walleye and crabcakes was delicious.
Our first visit was amazing — the food was cooked perfectly, genuine service, and intimate atmosphere. It impressed us so much that we chose this restaurant for our annual dinner with friends. Our most recent visit, however, was okay. 2 out of 3 steaks were overcooked and the pork chop was dry. Prime rib and walleye was perfect. The service was great overall, but we weren’t able to let our waiter know about the steak. I get that you don’t want to interrupt our dinner, so we let it go. Still, what stood out during our very first visit was how perfectly everything was cooked, even on a busy Friday night. We enjoy coming here, but the last two visits have been a little disappointing compared to the wonderful experience we had initially.
I've been here a couple times and the first time everything was fabulous. My filet was cooked perfectly, the brussel sprouts and au graten potatoes were hot and delicious and the popovers (one of there classics) were piping hot. This was an earlier dinner and not in the weekend. The second time was 6:30 on a Saturday and filet was decent, but the sides were luke warm the popovers were cool. They were very busy and it just kinda felt like the service and dinner was not equipped for it. It was noticeably different when they had time, when it was quieter, to make everything really good instead of being able to do that in the midst of the peak dining time.
Food is expensive, but delicious! However, the service was poor. Waited 15 mins for a waitress and she finally brought over water. She didn’t show up to get our order for at least 20 mins. So I finally asked the hostess for help. Service improved thereafter. Pictured here is the coconut shrimp, popover, salad and the Parmesan walleye. Fish portion was extremely small considering how much it cost.
Our martinis were wonderful. We ordered prime rib medium it was rare, ick. The horseradish sauce tasted like plain sour cream. Very disappointing. The lobster mac n cheese was mediocre. I expected a baked crusty topping. Didn't happen. Popovers were good. Also server did not check on us after getting our food.
I only went here because work gave me a coupon and to be honest I’m more of a burger and fries type of girl. I mean the food here was fine. I just don’t see myself returning… if I do maybe for a special occasion.
Great service. Great drinks. Lobster Mac and cheese is just OK. It was greasy, and the croutons were overpowering.
Food and atmosphere are great. Unfortunately for us, our server seemed to be friends with a couple in a nearby booth. He spent most of his time conversing with them, and we would have to flag him down any time we needed something. Any time we did, he seemed bothered.
Nice clean atmosphere. I enjoyed the drinks here. Generous wine pours. However, I didn't enjoy the food. The Bread was ok, asparagus was great and the steaks were horrible. We ordered filet mignon and they were seriously overcooked. I would go back for drinks but not for food.
Disappointing. Ordered the Walleye Oscar, partially because it was NOT supposed to be breaded. It had MORE than enough of bread! My wife was not happy with her lobster. Maybe the steak is better? Don't go for fish or seafood.
