We drove to Pensecola from Texas and stopped in New Orleans along the way. Honestly, the seafood at Peg Leg's was better than the seafood at any sit down restaurants in New Orleans that we tried. They're known for their fried food but their char grilled and broiled dishes were just as tasty and cooked properly. 1lb of peel and eat shrimp for a little over $20 is a great deal and the shrimp was cooked perfectly making it easy to peel. Our favorite dish was the char grilled stuffed grouper topped with a creamy white sauce and crawfish. The grouper was fresh, flaky, and generously portioned. The sautéed blue crab claws are a seasonal dish and are pre cracked for easy consumption in a garlic butter sauce. The pitchers of beer on tap range from $15-25 depending on the brand. Tasty food, cold beer, live music, and scenic views of the bay make peg leg pete's our favorite restaurant in Pensacola despite not being in the commercial central area of the pier. They accept reservations online to avoid waiting too long which I strongly suggest taking advantage of.
Peg Leg Pete's provided a solid lunch experience, first visit, on a busy Saturday. We were quickly seated inside and our server was both nice and attentive. The baked oyster sampler was excellent, with the Spicy Lafitte and Cajun being personal favorites, and the Buffalo Blue also receiving high marks from my son. Following the oysters, I chose a standard Caesar salad topped with grilled grouper, which was perfectly seasoned and cooked. My son's grouper nuggets had a nice batter and were fried well without being greasy. We will certainly include Peg Leg Pete's in our dining rotation when visiting Pensacola.
Best oysters on the gulf! This place alone makes Pensacola top of my list for vacation destinations. My favorite is the Buffalo blue baked oysters, but I can’t seem to ever leave without getting a dozen raw. Also tried the grouper nuggets for the first time this time and they were so good! PS make sure you try the peg like Pete’s hot sauce.
Very good seafood, very fresh and perfectly done. I got the grouper with rice pilaf and snow peas and it was outstanding. Perfectly seasoned and cooked. There is an eclectic, pirate themed atmosphere that is great. Service was great, she was on point, quick, and attentive. Expect a wait. They do not take reservations, but you can get on their wait list ahead via Goggle Maps and or Yelp, which I highly recommend. The wait time reflected when you are on the Yelp wait list is very accurate and if you are late getting there you will miss your slot, but the hostess will try to insert you back into a short wait. Parking fills up quickly too, expect to take some time waiting, searching for parking or park at the beach access parking along the road. It is worth the wait. My family devoured their food. Note: My wife has a gluten intolerance. She has to eat gluten-free. They do have a separate gluten-free menu with several options for appetizers and main dishes, plus the waitress explained how they cook GF items separately and take measures to prevent cross contamination very seriously. Kudos to the chefs here!
Had their special which was blackened flounder topped with crawfish cream sauce. Excellent dish, the flounder was cooked and seasoned perfectly. You'd have trouble finding a better piece of fish in New Orleans. The sides were great as well, especially the red beans and rice. There is also a lot of value with their add-ons. Several options which are essentially smaller servings of the appetizers and some of them are nearly half the price. The French 75 cocktail was very good, albeit on the sweeter side. Great meal and didn't break the bank.
Such a neat spot to stop for grub! Its an experience built in, they have a gift shop and lots to look at! The food was amazing, we had snow crab and grouper sandwiches, had the special for dessert, hot honey peach cheesecake, that was beyond amazing. Our server was also excellent, very kind and efficient.
I was blown away by the meal I had. Delicious, fresh and cooked to perfection. Very reasonably priced and large portions. The atmosphere is great but very busy. It was well worth the wait though. Get there early and have a drink at the bar or take a look at the boats while you wait. I recommend Peg Leg Pete's while you are in Pensacola Beach or near there. This is a regular stop for me while I am visiting.
This place is great but off the beaten path in Pensacola Beach. It has great food at a reasonable price unlike the tourist gouging on the main drag. Our hostess was fantastic, very knowledgeable and friendly. The atmosphere seemed mom and pop goes large restaurant and they pull it off well. I highly recommend this for my friends and I will be back.
Even in the off-season, Peg Leg Pete’s is clearly the place to be! We visited near the holidays and it was buzzing. Pro tip: Expect a wait, but the food is absolutely worth it. They have a great playground area to keep the kids entertained while you wait for a table, which is a total lifesaver. I had the Blackened Grouper, and it was easily one of the best meals I’ve had in the area—perfectly seasoned. Another huge plus? The kids' meals come in a small sand pail. It’s such a clever touch and came in very handy for playing at the beach the next day. This is a must-visit!
Great place to have seafood in Pensacola. I got 12 raw oysters on the half shell and a fried seafood dinner. Also washed it down with a specialty rum drink they make. Very friendly waitress and staff. It’s a bar/restaurant type place but it wasn’t too loud or rowdy at all. Definitely would bring my 10 year old daughter here. Everything was good, good prices… highly recommend!
We were greeted and seated right away, which was a great start. The restaurant has such a fun, beachy vibe with cute decor, low lighting, and both indoor and outdoor seating options. The place appeared clean overall, but it’s clear they don’t deep clean regularly—there was visible dust and crumbs along the booth padding. Now for the food — phenomenal! We ordered the tuna special with rice and new potatoes, and everything was cooked and seasoned to perfection. The tuna was tender and flavorful, the potatoes soft and buttery, and the rice was spot on. We also had the shrimp and crab steamer, which came with corn on the cob, sausage, and new potatoes. It was good—nothing extraordinary, but definitely on par with similar seafood spots. The only downside was the corn being slightly undercooked. We also tried a cup of fish chowder, which was tasty, and the Oysters Rockefeller for our appetizer. Unfortunately, the oysters didn’t come out until after we asked about them. Our waitress admitted she wasn’t sure why, but they were brought out right away after that—likely just a slip-up. Regardless, they were excellent: great flavor and perfectly seasoned. Service overall was good, even with that small hiccup. The restaurant does get very loud, so if you’re looking for a quiet dinner, this might not be the spot. But if you want delicious seafood in a lively, fun atmosphere, Peg Leg Pete’s is definitely worth a visit.
First-time visitor from Maryville, TN, and Peg Leg Pete’s in Pensacola, FL did not disappoint! The food was absolutely amazing—fresh, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. The drinks were just as impressive—refreshing and expertly made. A big shoutout to our server, John—he was awesome! Friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home. His great service really made the whole experience even better. If you’re in Pensacola, Peg Leg Pete’s is a must-visit. We’ll definitely be back next time we’re in town!
Met with cousins for dinner. I had swordfish with new potatoes and sugar snap peas. My wife had blackened grouper with rice pilaf and Cole slaw. Both also came with garlic toast. Everything was delicious. The service was very good. Had to wait a little bit for the table but not too bad. The atmosphere was good... a little loud for a family get together though.
Beware of a wait time during peak hours. Once you get on the wait list you'll be able to view your wait time on Yelp, and you can leave and come back as they'll save your table for 5 minutes. The wait staff is incredible, Matt was our server and he was attentive. The food was delicious, snow crab legs were sweet and not overcooked. The atmosphere is pirate themed and clean. I would recommend coming here to eat some seafood, oysters, and Cajun style food. Their gift shop is cute, and they also have an online store. There is a bar underneath but I did not check it out.
A fun and lively place to eat/drink in Pensacola. Great location and a vibe that can't be matched. Make sure to join their online waitlist before you arrive on busy nights. The food menu at the restaurant and the downstairs bar is different but we ate at both during our trip and both were amazing. The cajun oysters, stuffed shrimp with the crawfish julie sauce were the favorites. At the bar downstairs, John and Carmen were our favorites and made us feel right at home. We returned to have late night drinks every night of our trip. This place is frequented by tourists and locals, so you know its good. 5 STARS is not enough!
Stopped by Peg Leg Pete's for lunch. This place is packed so be prepared to wait! We waited 45 minutes and were not disappointed. The Cajun shrimp and the stuffed shrimp were are favorite items that we ate. The Po' Boy was good but a little dry it could have used more sauce. The Cajun shrimp wrap was good; but, could also have used a little more sauce. The fried seafood combo was huge!! The portions are large so bring your appetite. The atmosphere is lively. Our server was okay, but, was nonexistent after we got our meals so we never got drink refills.
We went during the lunch rush but were seated within 15 minutes. The food was great and came out hot and fresh. The waitress was phenomenal and kept our drinks filled despite there being a lot of people eating. The atmosphere was great and not too loud. Their shrimp platter was impressive and the portion size was amazing.
We actually rented the apartment above Peg Leg Pete's Oyster Bar, it's called the Crow's Nest. During our four day stay, we are there at least once each day. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful.. The oysters were supreme. And the atmosphere inside the restaurant was cozy. We also spent some time at the bar downstairs which had live music.
We really enjoyed our visit! The food was great and the service was just as good. Our waitress, Jazmine, was fantastic — friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed. The bucket of snow crabs from the steamer menu was definitely worth it — perfectly cooked and full of flavor. We also tried the Imperial Oysters, and they were amazing! My husband, who had never tried oysters before, gave them a shot and absolutely loved them. We’ll definitely be coming back!
Peg Leg Pete’s bay side restaurant is very popular in Pensacola Beach!🏖️ We had to try 2 different times to get to eat there on our vacation. It was good. We are glad we went & tried again. They got us in pretty fast. Service was great! Very attentive & quick. Our server was really good. He had a great smile & very friendly to us. He kept our drinks refreshed. We tried a couple different things. The Baked Oyster 🦪 Platter contains 2 different Oysters 🦪 of your choice. They have a long list of Oyster options. My husband loved them. He ate everyone! Delicious he said!! I looked over their large menu & decided to try the Shrimp 🍤 plate. They were hand breaded it said. Fries & coleslaw came with the them. There were so many Shrimp 🍤 on that dish! Tartar sauce & Cocktail sauce came with it. The Shrimp 🍤 were delicious! The small dish of coleslaw was refreshing with it. The fries were good. I liked the Shrimp 🍤 dish entree. It is a big serving. We took to go box with us & had another meal from it. We recommend you try Peg Leg Pete’s restaurant on your visit. It was really good!
Update: still love this place! It’s a Pensacola staple for our family. Most requested by the group and always saved for the last dinner of the trip. We had a great waiter this trip and even bumped into our waitress from our last visit. She is so sweet but we love that they can treat employees well enough for them to stick around. Loved this place! Great food, atmosphere, live music and staff. Originally wanted to do carry out but they won’t do it if there’s a list, totally get it so we decided to dine in. We ordered the crab claws, split the mixed grill (too good - we forgot to get a picture) and both got pie. Everything was amazing. The tall green chairs outside are not comfy so next time we’ll ask to sit somewhere else. Waitress was very nice and the live music was a nice touch! We will for sure come back next time we’re in the area 👍🏻👍🏻
We had not been back in about 10 years since we moved away. It is still amazing! Great food, fantastic service and wonderful atmosphere. Since our last visit, the managers and staff have really upped their game for the allergy customers. I have celiac disease and often can’t eat out without repercussions. They were very careful and had a menu for me as well. The food was so good!! I ordered the blackened snapper and it was fabulous!!
Really great place to go and eat. It’s out at the end of the island where it’s a little quieter. They are still really busy though. We had about a 50 minute wait for party of 5, but it was well worth the wait! Penny our server had a great memory and served us as fast as she could. The food was really good and the atmosphere was perfect for a beachside fishing joint.
If you think you are coming here for typical beach grub, you’re at the wrong place!!! We started with perfect margaritas on the rocks as we sat back & enjoyed the live music, which were both amazing. We had Fried grouper plater & Fabulous Shrimp wraps plater!! The sauce on the shrimp was nothing like I tasted before. Soooo delish. Can’t wait to go back…
Wait was long but less than they said it might be. Food was great. They did not mention they were out of lobster until 3 of the 4 of us tried to order it. Our alternate choices were delicious. Scallops, stuffed grouper, and shrimp/crab combo. Stuffing in the stuffed shrimp was a bit salty though.
great food, great service, great atmosphere, lower prices than the ballpark food we bought the night before. our server (Skyler) was awesome! a great addition is if the wait times are long, you can check in via their webpage & yelp, so if there was a 30 minute wait & you have a 30 minute drive, you won't have to stand in the heat too long (although the live band made up for the heat). definitely would recommend! would highly suggest the Cajun catfish
We were in Florida to visit a critically ill family member. For the short time we were at this restaurant we felt lighter and happier. The atmosphere was lively, the weather was comfortable, and the playground gave our toddler a chance to run around. Our server was great and even families at neighboring tables were friendly. The food was delicious! I had the Crab stuffed grouper and covered it with a side of their crawfish julie sauce.
Exactly the perfect beach bar and restaurant. The indoor and outdoor seating give a lot of options for all and the place is huge with an upstairs and downstairs bar and even a whole gift shop. The portion sizes are huge and the prices are still very reasonable. The food was great as well not to mention. The drinks were good. I got a margarita and my friends all got the bushwhacker.
We were on vacation and a friend who vacationed there recommended this place. Was a long wait but well worth it. Great crab legs very good priced compared to the other restaurants around. Great salad. The grilled chicken was great flavor great tasting I recommend getting the extra piece for $3.50 as it is not very big. Atmosphere was great kids loved the playground while we waited. Very cool place. Excellent waitress great friendly service we will be back next time down there
Fun theme for the restaurant. Was a busy Saturday and had a party size of 10 people. Only had to wait about 30 minutes for a table. (We did split up between two tables to make it easier) Our server was wonderful and all staff seemed smiley and like they actually enjoyed being at work. Food was good. decor was cool and there was a cute little gift shop. Plan to come back when we visit again.
Peg Leg Pete's came highly recommended on our travels and the food definitely did not disappoint! First thing though, do not be dissuaded by the hostesses, they are definitely not a representation of the remaining staff or experience. Management should probably pay a bit more attention to the first impression they are giving the restaurant! That being said, once seated, everything is fabulous! Chandra was super friendly, laughed with us many times and had us laughing plenty!! She was very attentive and provided great service, great enough that we came back the next day, sadly she was off that day! The food was phenomenal! We started with the Baked Oyster Sampler and then shared the recommended Stuffed Shrimp dinner. The sampler brought us back the next day for another platter, they were that good!! The second visit, hubby had the red beans and rice which is huge, and I had a bowl of chowder which is loaded and delicious! Ryan was our server on our second visit and he was just as friendly as Chandra was on the first visit! Great food, great service (other than hostess), we will definitely recommend and return!
This place was packed. Expect to wait 20 to 35 minutes to eat here. But that’s OK because there’s an upper and lower bar inside and outside dining. Avoid the line if you’re a couple. Here’s a tip go to the back of the upper bar. You’ll find a table and two chair chairs in front of the oyster bar facing the water. While you’re waiting for service, which is fast, you can watch the mother shuckers doing their job. We had two appetizers, jumbo shrimp which had a special flavoring on the rim of the glass. It had a little zip to it. Excellent. My wife loved the shrimp stuffed with crab covered with Alfredo sauce. I think she ate them all. Not really. She begrudgingly shared. We also had the gumbo which had rice and vegetables and local fish. What I liked about this gumbo was the sliced shallots on top. To me, it really accented the flavor. It was very good. Our main course was one of the chefs favorite, stuffed grouper and it was baked to perfection. Sometimes grouper can be rubbery, not this grouper it flaked apart, it was perfect. Dang I’m getting hungry as I write this. Side dishes were snow peas and rice. Both were delicious. The stuffed crab was hmm yummy good. We Highly recommend this restaurant. Eating in the back we found the locals very alive and loud. We rolled with and found it extremely entertaining. When we left, we were challenged by the locals. What NFL sports team do we favor? We didn’t say which team, but we were glad to be rid of a certain quarterback. This was our 45th anniversary. It was a lovely evening.
Great atmosphere, wonderful service, and one great buschwhacker. But they have the BEST artichoke and spinach dip I've ever had in my life. Highly recommend getting 2 cause you're gonna want it. Also the outside area in the winter is enclosed but I would recommend making sure you sit more inward AWAY from the would be windows, if you get cold easily.
Hillary was amazing! Our first visit and she helped us navigate the menu based on preferences and everything was terrific! The chowder was some of the best I’ve ever had! Dynamite shrimp were yummy! The fish with crab cake was delicious! Ceaser salad with shrimp was quite large! Shipwreck drink with souvenir cup was great! Best skinny margaritas! Fun atmosphere. Cool ambience! Cute souvenir shop.
Excellent food and service by all. Started at the downstairs oyster bar while waiting for a table. Dozen oysters on the half shell, big and delicious. From Louisiana. This was around 4:30 on a Wednesday. Quickly moved upstairs conveniently after our oysters were done. Approximately 15 to 20 minutes wait. Grilled sample oyster platter followed by fried and grilled assortment. Kathi was an excellent server and the food was terrific. Ate too much. Grouper was good the next day for breakfast. Had to run across to the beach to catch the sunset and was it fabulous. A photo or two with peg leg. What a wonderful evening it was. Thank you to the staff at Peg Legs!
We did the oyster sampler and a shrimp basket. The fried shrimp were amazing with a super flavorful batter, the fries were interchangeable but serviceable. Five out of the six flavors of oysters were amazing and they were all huge. My favorite was the lafitte then the imperial. The staff was super friendly and the beer was cold. Definite recommend from me.
Came over to eat a late lunch. Had an hour wait for a table for 2 so we headed to the bar. Shasta greeted us and asked if we wanted to be on the wait for two chairs and she took our name. 10 minutes later we were seated. She suggested the stuffed grilled grouper. Which was amazing. Highly recommend that if you go.
A for sure 5 star, without doubt. The wait to get a table is the only complaint anyone could have. The food is absolutely terrific, tastes so great, is so fresh and cooked so perfectly. The service is great, food comes out accurately and very fast. Got the snow crab legs, steamed shrimp, fried shrimp and seafood gumbo, all were top notch. Worth the wait you won’t beat this place hands down, whether tourist or local, this place is a favorite.
My husband and I are in Pensacola for our 10 year anniversary. We're staying close to Peg Leg Pete's and decided to give it a try. They were very busy tonight. It took about 40 minutes for a table, but we didn't mind. We stood out front and talked with other guests as we waited. When we were seated, our waitress, Hillary, greeted us. She was kind and such a great server. We tried the baked oysters - half buffalo blue cheese and half parmesan garlic. I don't know which I liked better. The food was fabulous. The live entertainment was fun. We really enjoyed it and will be back.
Wonderful, clean restaurant with legendary service! Food was absolutely wonderful, the grouper was grilled perfectly. Shoutout to Rachel, who was very hospitable and efficient at the same time, and for Lindsey, who provided outstanding service and is very knowledgeable of the menu. I know our group was stressful, with so many people on different checks and changing seats halfway through, but everyone was so wonderful and welcoming! And a special thanks to our two servers for being accommodating for our older gent in the wheelchair. Absolutely coming again whenever we're in town!
We went for a lunch time dinner and I must say the crab dinner in a bucket was very good. Our Server Sunny was so sweet and kind, she even brought me a free slice of key lime pie for my birthday!!! This is a fun and great place to eat but go on off times and you won't get stuck having to wait to be seated. You can do online seating on the waitlist if you prefer. The place is huge, and there is limited parking but you can park across the street and walk over. The restaurant abuts LaFitte marina and it's fun to walk back there and check it out. There is a nice playground for kids if you get stuck waiting. The catfish dinner my husband got was good as well. The pie was delicious 😋 it is definitely one of the top 5 restaurants in the area!
Ahhhh, the joys of being a Florida native. I can relax, eat, drink a few, enjoy the view and my friends company without worrying for the 700 people who arrived before us to finish eating. Go in January to this priceless gem of a restaurant. Grouper bites- delicious! Tuna dip- amazing! Stuffed shrimp with some Julie Cajun creole sauce whatever it is called - DO NOT MISS IT! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ don't forget to enjoy a glass (or two) of Pacific Rim Riesling. Ask for Nate to serve you- he is quick efficient and polite and kind.
It was amazing! Was a lot of food! It was so delicious tho! My husband and I went and we both loved it our server Laztee (not sure if it’s spelled correctly) but she was fantastic! I had actually order a orea cheesecake to go and forgot about it and she chased me down to make sure we got it. I thought that was very nice.
Chandra was one of the best servers I’ve ever had . She was always present when I was thinking I needed her and she was well mannered and presented herself professionally . The restaurants staff were all friendly and the restaurant was so much fun! Great atmosphere for kids and even better the food was 10/10! Raw oysters were great and the red beans and rice was some of the best I’ve ever had. The prices are almost too good to be true !!!! Local here and I say this place rocks .
Was recommended to stop here, and we stopped in there was a super long line but we thought if it was busy at lunch, it would be way busier later, so we checked in and the line ended up moving really fast, we probably sat down in 20 minutes when the hostess told us 45 minutes. The staff was super friendly all around and our server KC? Was amazing. They have a massive menu but it was lunch and decided to split the house salad and the fried combo. The salad was good, not amazing but enjoyable for sure. The Fried fish was very good, the seasoning was spot on. However the breading did not stick at all to the scallops, the Coleslaw was classic taste but excellent. Fries were a little over seasoned but still good. I loved everything so don’t let me come off as negativity was a wonderful experience, I loved this place, it’s huge and the bottom floor wasn’t even open. The menu is massive and I’m sure the drinks are spectacular but I did not try any. Definitely would come back for that grouper!
We were driving in the area and found the best oysters I have ever eaten! This place is just fantasic. We came in around 2 and found a seat at the bar. Ordered an oyster sampler to start out and some very cold beers. After the sampler we just decided to eat more oysters instead of any other food. They are incredible. The bartender was fabulous and the locals at the bar talked to us like we belonged there. This stop has me planning a vacation in the area just so I can go back!
I heard they had huge oysters and I wasn't disappointed. At least two of the oysters in the dozen we ordered were the size of my palm, though I am a lady with relatively small hands. They were still the biggest ones I've ever seen! The gumbo and chowder were really good too. Planning to bring our family here on our next vacation in the area!
The best place for seafood in Pensacola period. Off the beaten path, but get there early because the line forms before they open. The blackened grouper is always a go-to when it is available. The oyster bar is first come first serve and everyone is always friendly. If you get a chance to say hi to Skinner you just met the best shucker this side of Kingston and a true gentleman. Situated between the Gulf and the Marina this has to be on your list if this is your first time visiting Pensacola Beach or the best place to meet friends if you're a regular to the turquoise waters and white sands some lucky folks get to call home. Look for the Jolly Roger and Enjoy!
We are in on vacation from St. Louis, Myra was our waitress and she was adorable and super helpful!! She gave me some great suggestions and they all were AMAZING!! Hottest place on the beach and I would definitely join the waitlist and plan your visit. Its a hotspot, but we know why now!
Party of 12 at dinner while very busy. Our waiter Phi was outstanding and I can honestly say the best service we have had since moving to Florida. Most of the food was great but the seafood dinner for 2. Shrimp were amazing but the lobster and crab legs were way overcooked and not good at all. Several others had the crab legs that were perfect so we all will go back and highly recommended. Ask for Phi but be sure to tip him really good. Always a smile, extremely attentive and very personalble. Almost forgot but a great band playing outside downstairs.
This is a cool spot overall—perfect for sitting outside and **people-watching** while you enjoy the beer special. I took a risk and ordered the crawfish, and even though I knew it was a bad idea before I ordered, it lived up to my low expectations: it was mushy and completely lacking that essential Creole flavor. I'll admit, I'm definitely in the wrong state for authentic crawfish! Despite the taste, they looked fantastic, even the one I noticed in my beer glass. All the other food coming out of the kitchen looked great, and the staff was cool. I'll be back for the ambiance and the beer next time, but I'll stick to local cuisine. Chow until then!
Friendliness and service from the staff was top notch in a very laid back, fun atmosphere. I ordered the grilled grouper salad and a cup of fish chowder. The grouper was excellent and cooked perfectly. The salad itself was a little lackluster considering but still good. The fish chowder was just mediocre. I probably wouldn't order that again. The drinks were excellent. My server was very friendly and helpful, offering great suggestions. Overall it was a great experience and I won't forget that grouper any time soon.
Maybe the best fried shrimp I've ever had. Perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned. The raw oysters were outstanding as well. Fresh, plump, perfectly cold, nice cocktail sauce on the side with extra horseradish. The baked oysters were okay, nothing special, but I found shells in almost half of them which almost chipped the living hell out of my teeth. Would definitely come back for the raw oysters and the fried shrimp anytime.
We went on a Sunday evening and the restaurant was packed and had to wait about 45 mins to be seated. But there was the playground for the kids to enjoy while waiting. Once seated the service was great, pretty quick getting food out to us. It was somewhat expensive but you pay for what you get and we got really good food and service. Even the kids meals are huge so I would consider that if you have multiple children who can share meals to cut down on your bill. Plus it's Peg Leg's and the beach environment that you can't beat. Recommend to all.
Pegleg Pete's is a funky styled restaurant with good food and good service. The exterior wall when walking into the restaurant is covered with old license plates. The interior walls and ceiling are lined with a variety of artifacts related to pirates and the beach. That decor sets the scene for a delightful meal with a large menu and good service. On this visit, Sara was our waitress and she did an excellent job. She knew the contents of the menu, answered questions about the various dishes and made sure our experience was a good one. We actually stopped here from reading the various oyster dishes on the internet menu. So, when ordering a meal, I started with six steamed oysters. They were cooked perfectly, they were large oysters, and had a great flavor. The daily special was a swordfish sandwich. It was also cooked perfectly and had a delicious flavor. My wife ordered stuffed shrimp. They were very salty. She explained that to Sara and the order was easily replaced with grilled shrimp that were cooked perfectly. Overall, this was an excellent experience with good food, a funky kind of atmosphere and excellent service. This restaurant does get very crowded during busy times of the year. Going to eat here on a cold winter day cuts down on the crowds!
We had a nice lunch. The atmosphere was great and the service was good. Food was alright. I had the gumbo and was expecting to be blown away but it was meh. The fish chowder was very good and the seafood was cooked well.
We had an early dinner there last night and really enjoyed it. The oysters, ribs and cocktails were right on point. Shasta is the best!!! Thank you girl... you rock!
We visited Peg Leg Pete’s while in Pensacola and had a mixed experience. The oysters were decent, the red beans and rice were average, and the fried catfish was probably the best thing we tried — crispy and well-seasoned. The service was hit or miss. Our first waiter was honestly pretty bad — inattentive and unhelpful. Thankfully, a second server took over and turned things around. She was friendly, quick, and really improved our experience.
The food here is fantastic! The only downfall is the wait time and getting a spot to sit. I like that they have a bar upstairs and downstairs. I like that they have a play place for kids to play in. The oysters were big and delicious, and the fried things were great as well. I did the sampler one with fried oysters, shrimp, and scallops. It was a little hot inside, but that's expected with an outdoor vibe. I'd definitely come back here!
My friends and I (group of 4) visited for dinner on a Friday night around 8:30pm. We were seated at 9:15pm (45 minute wait, not too bad). I would have preferred to join the waitlist ahead of time, like I always do, but their system has been down for some time now. I’ve been wanting to eat here for a while now but every time I called, their wait time was over two hours. Our waiter Travis had an attitude, not attentive, and was not very friendly. However, the food was delicious! Well, not all, but most of it. The only complaint about the food is the fried shrimp was way undercooked. Everything else was great! It was crowded, as expected. I especially liked how there is a play area for kids in the back with picnic tables. It wasn’t my first time here and it will definitely not be my last, those snow crab legs are out of this world delicious!
Stopped here for dinner on the way back home from Orlando. Pretty decent place, the red beans and rice was divine. Would definitely worth a second visit next time I am in the area.
Peg Leg Pete’s – A Great First Visit! We had our first visit to Peg Leg Pete’s on Pensacola Beach, and despite the restaurant being packed, we had a fantastic experience. Our waitress, Alexis, was absolutely amazing! She was attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed, even with how busy it was. The food was delicious, and the atmosphere was lively. There was no wait time to be seated. Alexis made the experience well worth it with her great service and positive attitude. She truly went above and beyond, making our first visit a memorable one. If you're in the area, Peg Leg Pete’s is definitely worth a stop – and if you’re lucky enough to get Alexis as your server, you’re in for a great time!
The 2 Girls behind the bar were great, they made the visit worth it. Can't recall names but they were both GREAT, they down at the bar where they shuck the oysters. You'll know when you meet them who I'm talking about. Grouper Nuggets are spanking good, go visit them and eat something. Only took 1 pic, to much fun to worry about taking more
Blackened Grouper was over cooked and dry...Tuna was very good and crab claws were awesome, baked oysters were not on point, but good... Service could have used more people, they were spread too thin ... Atmosphere was great! Have been going g here since I was 16 and it was a local dive with original restaurant space only.
I had such hopes and was so excited to come here. The staff and waitress were very nice. However when it came to the food, I was super disappointed. I had the lunch special ( swordfish sandwich with a side of steamed broccoli ) the actual swordfish took up half the bun. There was a lot of cheese and stuff to take up space. The broccoli was super hard. The meat of the swordfish was very good though.
We waited 2 hours on a Saturday night for a table. Arrived at 4:50 p.m. Staff said there is an app to use, maybe Yelp, for better seating service. Once we were able to get seated, the service was fabulous, fast, and friendly. While waiting, we opened a tab at the bar. The chowder is highly recommended along with the grouper bites. Stuffed grouper is also great, but I did not care for the taste of the crab stuffing. It was the seasoning. Overall a little pricey.
We didn't have the best service. Our server was really slow to the point that we thought she forgot about us, and she forgot to place our cocktail order. She did however bring the drinks when we asked for them again and they were comped. The food was fine, but the atmosphere and location are great!
The service station as you come in could use a course in hospitality....the bar tenders are the best. Our server was the best Phi..... The food never disappoints. The sucker's at the end of the bar are on point....they could give the hostess a few lessons.... Keep in mind they can't really accommodate larger parties as ours, but we made do.....
This place came highly recommended by some local people and from online source. We should have at 5 PM trying to beat the dinner rush but we’re told it was going to be one hour and 20 minutes to one hour and 50 minutes. due to the recommendations, we decided to stay. We went downstairs to the oyster bar where there was live music. This environment was pretty good. The service was good. The food was good. If it weren’t for this portion of the visit, I would’ve given them a one star rating. We got called out to our table around the one hour and 50 minute mark and were seated in a booth. Our waitress was not exactly unkind, but she was definitely not very pleasant and did not seem like she wanted to be there. It seemed like our questions about the menu were annoying her. Unfortunately, after spending approximately $50 per person and waiting for over two hours our food arrived and it was cold. Just to clarify, I don’t mean not hot or somewhat warm, I mean room temperature to actually colder than that. I got the mixed grill and was not asked if I would like it prepared any kind of way. It’s tough to say if it would be any better warm but I was not impressed. If you do want to go here, I highly recommend getting on the online waiting list prior to arriving. I thought this place was highly overrated.
This was our 'go-to' in P Beach for 30 years, but they are 0-2 in our last two visits and I'm not sure we will give them a third strike at this point. They simply do NOT care, because the tourists are going to come no matter what. So customer service is a complete JOKE. If it is customer service you are looking for, keep driving. We arrived, and were told minimum 25 minute wait. If you've been there you know when they say 25 minutes they really mean 35 or 40 minutes. So me and my grandson decided to do a quick one mile run down the beach. We are 4 minutes away and my wife calls. Tables ready. They won't seat her without us. She explains and calls us. We turn around and head back. The lady tells her she will wait ten minutes for us. We get back in four minutes. The lady says sorry, we gave your table away. What happened to the 10 minutes? Too bad, she said. Should have been here. Guess what hon? Too bad for you. We went down the street to the Cajun place where they appreciate their customers and the food was fantastic. This has turned into a tourist trap with horrible customer service. C'ya Peggy.
