Opinions de Clark's Oyster Bar - Aspen Aspen
Clark's was a fantastic find! Super charming with amazing dishes - the oysters were fresh, the lobster roll was excellent, and they've got probably the best clam chowder I’ve ever had. Great food and great service. We're definitely planning to go back!
Absolutely amazing experience. Every dish we ordered was super fresh and delicious. Absolute value for time and money. The staff is super well trained and very friendly and are very well trained. We went for lunch and it was absolutely worth it.
Checked out this restaurant on a tip from a local and it didn’t disappoint. Bread & radishes are immediately brought to the table to start and they had a great wine list. Tried the Chile and it was tasty. Plus some great Aspen people watching
As a seasonal visitor to Aspen, I've made it my mission to slurp down the sea's finest offerings at Clark's Oyster Bar no less than five times in the past two years. And let me tell you, each visit is like a salty symphony for the taste buds. Now, let's talk oysters. Oh, the oysters! I practically salivate just thinking about them. Two of each, please, because why settle for just one variety when you can have them all? And let me tell you, I've never left disappointed. Clark's knows their mollusks, and they serve 'em up fresh and delicious every time. I must confess: while the oysters still reign supreme, the same cannot be said for the rest of the menu. It pains me to say it, but over the years, I've noticed a slight decline in the quality of the entrees. Case in point: the scallops, once a highlight of the meal, were so rubbery they could've bounced right off the plate. And don't even get me started on the basque cake—it was drier than the Sahara desert. But hey, maybe that's just my humble opinion. Now, onto the service. If there's one thing Clark's excels at (besides oysters, of course), it's hospitality. The staff is as attentive as a seagull eyeing your beachside picnic, and they're always ready with a friendly smile and a helpful recommendation. Word to the wise: if you want to snag a spot at Clark's, be sure to book your reservation well in advance. This place is hotter than a griddle and tables fill up faster than you can say "shuck it." So, in conclusion, while Clark's Oyster Bar may have hit a few snags on the culinary front, it's still the go-to spot for anyone seeking a shell of a good time in Aspen.
This small restaurant and bar served up great clam chowder & great oysters (better selection than Denver). But it was the friendly bartenders & locals I met at the bar that made this a favorite of mine. Went there 4 times in 2 days. Liz is great!
I am friendly with the owner's of Clark's who hail from Austin, like me. Recently, I had a happy hour meal with friends out on their expanded (due to COVID) patio. Before 5pm, it is the happy hour menu, which includes some of the regular menu items including specials on cocktails and oysters. In my mind, their lobster roll is the best I have had in either Austin, Texas or Aspen, Colorado. Service was great and you can't beat Aspen patio dining in the summer!
This is a great seafood spot in downtown Aspen. We've been here three times now, while it's not quite New England quailty, the place has that great New England feel. The food was excellent, and the restaurant was packed on each occasion. It's definitely a must visit restaurant while in Aspen!
My partner and I came in here for lunch after getting some turns in on some spring boarding before Aspen closing. This place is a gem, and please don’t let my actual review deter you from checking them Out! We were sat, and it seemed like we had a certain server but at the end of everything it was someone else, which made sense for all the neglect we experienced. A glass of Prosecco was lost lost in translation. The lobster roll was bomb, except for the bite of shell that I lavishly bit into, Definitely wasn’t expecting that. All that said, our actual waitress relayed our discrepancy and the restaurant graciously accommodated. Honestly I wasn’t expecting that, I know that things like this can happen. Definitely check them out!
Clark’s is one of my favorite restaurant in town. The environment is great and the service too. If you go you need try the Ceviche and the octopus. I’ll stop by soon!
Delicious, fast, great happy hour, maybe the best in Aspen, and it includes food like this half price burger (12$). Amazing! And the fries were delicious too!
What a great meal! Clark’s seems to be one of Aspen’s best high energy casual restaurants. Food was great, people were all so nice - the crowd was beautiful and full of energy! You could tell it was well heeled guests and healthy happy locals! We kept it simple - great chowder - awesome yet not heavy. Loved the celery crunch (ok, could have used a few more clams)!!! But - delicious. Crudo - excellent and interestingly good presentation, chunks, not slices - we loved it! Wedge was a standard wedge, but we got 3 great shrimp with it. Delightful server - everyone really was just so nice - a fun experience - dekiciouand approachable food. Ok to Gucci up or go apres ski in a hoodie too! Lord of love (and great food)!
AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS! Service at the bar was spot on! Order the seafood tower you won’t be disappointed! One tip.. When they say your dish comes with fries…. They are not the usual fries you see. Super thin and in spirals.
Being from Florida we are surrounded by oysters available mainly from east coast. We decided to try this place and learned there is a big difference in where the oysters come from. We ordered 2 of each location to try and even had a list given to us so we would know which was which. We enjoyed all of them but had our favorites! We didn't realize how different each tasted and really enjoyed ourselves. The server was exceptional as he explained the differences and even told us the house favorites for the day. I would recommend this place especially if you want to be daring and try oysters from East and West coasts! Thanks!
Walked in and sat at bar immediately. Host were great. It was a Tuesday afternoon Rage rage into the night Our Bartender was awesome but the oysters were better :) We ended with a dozen and a half and a few cocktails. Overall great experience. I Have been recommending this place since I left it. Some semi local characters around the bar. Treated just fine by everyone. Tipped in cash Do not go quietly
Had a great time the weekend before Thanksgiving. Since it was before the season we were able to get in without issue for lunch, I hear it’s much harder during ski season. I had a great lobster roll that was well worth it. It was stuffed with a bunch of large, Juicy pieces of lobster. Plus the serving of fries was huge. My in laws really enjoyed the mussels and seafood stew. The oyster selection was wide ranging and tasted very fresh. Great spot, highly recommend it if you’re in Aspen and looking for a seafood spot.
Clark’s is always a win. Everything was on point: excellent martinis, incredibly fresh oysters, and absolutely delicious pasta. I truly love this place. The atmosphere and consistency usually make it a standout. The only downside this time was the lobster roll. On previous visits it’s been brutal (in the best way), but this time it was just a bit underwhelming. Still, an overall fantastic experience, and I’d happily go back again.
Clark’s is an absolute must every time I’m in Aspen. The atmosphere is lively yet elegant, the service is flawless, and the food is consistently outstanding. From the fresh seafood to the perfectly crafted cocktails, every detail is done right. It’s the kind of place where you come for dinner and end up staying for the energy and the experience. Truly one of Aspen’s gems—already counting down to my next visit! If you want, I can also tailor it to sound more casual, luxury-leaning, or influencer-style for Google or Instagram.
Just loved Clark’s. Reminded us of authentic seafood restaurants in the Vineyard, Nantucket, etc. Beautiful ambience. Excellent food. Great service! One of the best restaurants in Aspen.
Arrived during happy hour and enjoyed the half off oysters. We had well crafted cocktails and the food was delicious! Highly recommend!
Everything was perfect. Some of the best food I’ve ever had. Very creative dishes…the spicy cauliflower was a surprise hit, and the lobster roll was spot on.
We came here for a post hike late lunch and it was exactly what we needed. The oyster selection was broad with plenty of east and west coast options. The portions were healthy for the clam chowder and burgers we ordered. The clam chowder was a good texture. The atmosphere was bustling without it being too noisy or crowded.
We stop here every time we’re in Aspen. They have one of the best happy hours in town with great martinis, burgers and oysters. The service is fantastic and the atmosphere can’t be beat. We love Clark’s!
We’ve been to Clarks a few times and always enjoy it! Recommend: oysters, clam chowder, kale, scallops, Mac n cheese! We got the burger this time and I would pass on that, both the burger and fries were just okay. The staff and service is great!
Absolutely loved this place! The oysters were incredibly fresh. Service was friendly and attentive. Definitely a must-visit in Aspen if you’re into quality seafood and a laid-back vibe.
What a treat, we were lucky to be in Aspen during mud season and the place was like a ghost town for the exception of Clark's Oyster Bar which was almost full at 2:00 PM! The reason became evident when we saw the eclectic range of food available. If you love oysters from around the United States this is you place, the selection of raw oysters was one of the best we have come across. If you want a sandwich or soup numerous choices abound. A bit pricy but hey its Aspen, if you can get in you will not be dissapointed, full bar as well, recommended!!!
Best happy hour in town! Great martinis, their burger and ceviche were really delicious! Can’t wait to come back
The best spot in all over Aspen! We went there 2 nights in a row! Great vibe, local, not too pretentious, nice and attentive staff. Highly recommend!
We had an amazing dining experience at Clark’s! Oyster and seafood was not a top of mind option but such a great idea for dinner! We had a few more dishes than what is shown here. Everything was absolutely delicious and well presented. Servers were attentive, personable and knowledgeable. Highly recommended! Place was super busy so reservations is needed.
Very nice restaurant. We had the ceviche, clams and muscles! Delicious loved the sauce.
The fresh complimentary sourdough and whipped butter didn’t last long enough for a photo to be captured. This place is always busy but they always manage to squeeze me in. A favorite lunch or dinner spot in Aspen to be certain. A wide variety of first class oysters to choose from. I have never had a dish there that was not top notch.
Our third visit in 12 months and it just gets better. Can't wait for the next one!
My wife and I love oysters and we had without comparison the best oyster experience here than anywhere else (including the coasts). It’s amazing to get fresh seafood like this in Aspen, Colorado. The picture of the burger is the children menu burger for my five-year-old. I had a bite and it was phenomenal. The seafood tower features mussels, oysters, lobster, shrimp, as well as ceviche and crab - excellent.
So tasty! Wide selection of oysters. Be advised of Clark's happy hour... one of the best in Aspen! I loved the oyster shooter and my bride loved the 1/2 price martinis. They serve great sourdough bread. A fresh, East Coast sailing vibe! We came twice in one day!
This restaurant is just hands down the best in Aspen. The drinks, the food, the service everything is just amazing. I wanted to try other restaurants in the area but gosh darn it I keep coming back to Clark’s!
Saturday afternoon and this place was packed and with good reason. Our wait time was about 30 mins. and the hostess was very nice. We had the lobster rolls that made us feel as if we were in Maine. The cioppino was fabulous. Mussels & Clam in white wine was charming and the clam linguine was the best of all. The waitress was outstanding. I don't give out 5 stars often but I can't deny it to place that is run to perfection.
Outstanding experience at Clark’s Oyster Bar. The food was impeccable, the atmosphere was top-tier, and our server Maria truly made the night—attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely warm. Service like hers is why places like this stand out. Will absolutely be back.
Lively atmosphere. Great light. Excellent staff and efficient service. We found Clark’s for our first meal in town- octopus best ever! Key lime torte sublime. Burger, linguini and drinks superb. Loved it so much went back next day for oysters- very good. Cioppino- delicious. Red snapper- so good! Plus! My key dropped out of my purse and I didn’t realize it until I got back home to Boulder. They called back and had it!!! Thank you Clark’s! You exceeded all expectations AND serve the best food in Aspen!
Food was outstanding! Beautiful presentations & executions! Best meal we had all week in Aspen & service was on point. Shout out to Sarah Bryant (GM) at this location. We sat next to a table that had a screaming toddler whose parents who displayed extremely poor parenting skills & did not care that their child's relentless screaming & acting out behaviors disrupted the fine dining experience of all other patrons & she handled the situation expertly & respectfully & her actions allowed us to still enjoy our evening.
Not many places to eat in the area but glad we landed here. Sweet staff, cool vibe and a damn good burger. Go during happy hour!
We came in for clam chowder, it was delicious and the clams were much larger than any other chowder we've had! I noticed that the lobster roll was huge too! Very impressed from the east coast! Place was packed! I can understand why! Thank you for having us!
Loved the ambiance here and the exposed wood beams. One of the best chili’s I have ever had which was perfect to warm up on a cold day. Lovely staff. Quick service. Great experience.
Best oyster spot in Aspen! We ordered two appetizers and two entrées, and everything was incredibly fresh and flavorful, no misses. The staff were also super friendly, attentive, and helpful, which made the whole experience even better. We had such a great time and will definitely be back.
I ordered the blueberry lemonade, it was mainly ice, too simple a drink, skip it. Our kids pasta shells were very good. The ceviche is tasteless. My lobster roll was delicious! My wife's octopus was very good but a very small dish. My kids Halibut was good but overcooked. My glass of Bailly - Reverdy Sancerre Loire Valley white wine was the best white wine I have tried in a long time, highly recommended!
Great little place. I would recommend making reservations! The oyster was great! Many different varieties! The calm chowder was good but not the best I have ever had and the chivche was good but very very expensive for the amount actually served!
A very nice sea food restaurant. We ordered the beef tartar, which was incredibly tender and delicious. The octopus was well seasoned. The shrimp linguine was well cooked but it was a bit bland after tasting the octopus. Should probably have asked for a bit of more salt.
We loved everything about our dinner here- the service was great, the ceviche, oysters, crab Mac and cheese, cocktails, and clam chowder were excellent, but WHAT EVEN ARE THESE FRIES? How are you supposed to eat them? Why would anyone want so many? Please someday consider changing the “fries” to actual fries.
Love the oysters and lobster roll. Clam chowder was awful - the chef needs to have another taste of that. Stale oyster crackers, too much hot sauces, and non existing clams for $14? I get it - it’s Aspen prices. But holy moly, $45 for lobster roll and $4.50 per oyster. Also, I didn’t know until now I was supposed to get complimentary bread. Lastly, who actually enjoys those kind of fries? Overall, ambiance was nice.
Buzzy exciting interesting venue. Great atmosphere. A-team crowd. Look and be seen. Food ok. Missing on flavour Pricing US$100 per head. Incl one wine 1 beer and coke. Worth the experience. Could be a regular hangout if I was a local
Oysters were fresh, clean flavor. Had a Bibb salad with lobster; greens fresh, dressed well. Lobster was all small pieces of tough, tasteless knuckle meat. Old and freezer burned. If I had my eyes shut I wouldn’t have known I was eating seafood. Really dissatisfied,
Terrible experience. The food was completely tasteless and shockingly expensive for what you get. I ordered the swordfish and the portion was ridiculous — so small it felt like a joke. When I complained, the server simply acknowledged it and moved on, offering no solution. The kids’ meal was the final insult: $27 for a tiny portion of grilled chicken with some pasta. I honestly felt robbed. Definitely not worth the money. I won’t be coming back and cannot recommend it to anyone.
