This is probably the best italian place I’ve been to in Atlanta so far. The service was amazing (thanks John!!!) and the food was sooo good! We ordered the beef carpaccio, and caprese salad for appetizers and I would definitely order those again. Then we ate the Nudi (added chicken), the Stroz, and the paccheri. Everything was so delicious. John was such a great server, and gave us the best recommendations, and was able to answer every question we had. I definitely will be returning, and will highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who is in need of a great place to eat. Thank you to our server, the chefs, the hostess and boh people, because you all made our experience memorable. Grazi!!!!
Duck pasta here is so good! We also got to see the waiter deboning our branzino table side. This is probably my favorite pasta place in the city. You can’t go wrong with any of the pasta dishes and also they give chocolate soup for special occasions.
Great food , great service , not cold in restaurant. Waiter was very understanding and explained certain things we were confused about. Dealing with certain allergies , knowing what’s on the menu and in the food is a plus. Wish they had tiramisu on the desert menu. I used RESY to make reservation
I had dinner there on a Tuesday. Everything was delicious! I especially enjoyed the Caprese salad and the Farro salad. My friend and I split some entrees pastas which were also delicious. I'm not a drinker so I enjoyed their n/a Pomegranate soda. I left stuffed but took a budino home for dessert! Great food, nice service and atmosphere, we were there for several hours and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! Thank you!
We recently dined at a lovely restaurant with our kids, who typically stick to plain butter pasta. Wanting them to try something new, we asked our server for a recommendation, and they suggested the Strozzapreti alla Salsiccia—a pasta dish with sausage. It was very thoughtful of them to bring it in two plates so our kids can share the dish. It was a hit! The kids especially loved the generous serving of grated cheese, and they had fun watching it being added until they gave the signal to stop. The pasta had a slight chewiness, which actually worked well for them. For my main course, I had the Costoletta di Vitello, a beautifully sliced steak served on a bed of arugula. It was cooked perfectly to medium rare, just as I requested. The flavor was excellent—rich and satisfying. I do wish it had been hotter, but I suspect it cooled down a bit due to being pre-sliced. We ended the meal with Panna Cotta, and it was honestly one of the best desserts I’ve ever had. I shared it with my two little ones, and they absolutely devoured it within a minute. It was smooth, flavorful, and just the right amount of sweet—a perfect ending. The restaurant had a great vibe, especially the patio area. We were seated indoors at a table closest to the patio, which gave us the best of both worlds: a comfortable seat without a long wait, yet still able to enjoy the lively atmosphere. All in all, it was a fantastic experience with great food and a welcoming ambiance.
Second time I visited the restaurant. I always wanted to take my father there to eat, unfortunately, we lost him recently. Decided to take my kids for a pre-Christmas dinner. We had a lot of fun and were greeted by one of the best waitresses we have ever had. Also, the manager of the Restaurant, who I hear has been there a long time was extremely charismatic. It made a great evening that will remember for a very long time. The food was excellent.
A home run in all ways. Seated on time at a nice table. Attentive friendly service. And the food was outstanding. I had a prosecco, Caesar salad, and salmon. Highly recommend the salmon - done medium, with a nice crispy glaze. Others had lasagnette, seafood risotto and mushroom risotto. All good choices. Dessert was called chocolate soup - a molten special chocolate with hazelnuts. We will be back.
Good food and good vibes. We had a reservation that was delayed 45 minutes, but the manager gave us some appetizers to make up for it. The priest stranglers pasta good but a bit too hard. The sauce was great though. Would recommend the duck pasta. Dessert was ok.
We had dinner here a few days ago and came as a group. We ordered many of the dishes on the menu as well as asked for advice on wines. The staff was very accommodating with our requests. The food was great and the pasta were delicious. we really enjoyed the scallops and the pasta with Buratta. I would come back again soon!
Dining at Sotto Sotto in Bath is nothing short of a magical experience. The moment you step inside, you feel transported to another world – the setting, reminiscent of a beautiful, intimate cavern, is simply breathtaking. The ambience strikes the perfect balance between cozy and enchanting, making it a truly unforgettable place to dine. From the moment we arrived, the service was impeccable. Despite the restaurant being fully booked, Carlo went above and beyond to accommodate us, seating us at the most charming and cozy table. Our waiter, Julian, delivered service that was nothing short of exceptional – attentive, warm, and genuinely passionate about ensuring we had the best experience. And the food? Absolutely divine. Every dish was bursting with flavor and artistry, leaving us in awe. The desserts, in particular, were heavenly – the kind of indulgence that stays on your mind long after the meal is over. Sotto Sotto is, without a doubt, a must-visit. Incredible food, an unparalleled atmosphere, and service that makes you feel truly special – I can’t recommend it highly enough! Cheers 🥂 Maribel & Horacio
My finance and I came here last night for dinner. The atmosphere was cozy and makes out for an engaged social atmosphere. The food was great. The muscles and anchovies antipastas were fun, both true flavor. The duck ragù was absolutely fabulous. Savory and defined. I really enjoyed this. The strozzapretti was just as good in its own way. Noodles were perfect and sauce was plate licking. We ended off with the white chocolate bread pudding, what a great decision. The service and drinks were as well exceptional. This place is a high IQ choice.
What an amazing experience from start to finish. Visiting from out of town and wanted to find a good dinner spot open late on Sundays. The atmosphere was so lovely- soft jazz, pretty table settings, kind staff. We also were so lucky to have the best server, Elizabeth, who was so knowledgeable and friendly. They also offered delicious gluten free pasta. Everything was wonderful quality. Highly recommend!
Andy here on Valentine’s Day and it can get crowded so book wayyyy in advance (2 months). The foods is amazing. The pizza is not on their money but you can ask for it and they can guide you on its availability. The mushroom pasta was one of the best I’ve ever had.
My fiancé and I had a wonderful time here for his birthday dinner. The restaurant atmosphere is so warm and sophisticated and the food was delicious. We ordered the beet salad, paparadelle with duck and the 16th century Ravioli. All the dishes were excellent. Our waitress Megan was a delight. I loved her energy. Overall, incredible establishment. We look forward to coming back again.
Sotto is one of my absolute favorite restaurants that I have ever experienced. I actually took another trip to Atlanta just so that I could go back. The ambience is perfect, very wonderful staff and incredible menu. If I had the option, I would buy rights to franchise in my city 😂
Update: I went back mostly because I couldn’t stop thinking about the scallops. They were just as good the second time. We also got carpaccio, the duck ragu, pasta Michelangelo, and panacotta. The ragu was the clear winner between the two pastas for us and the panacotta is a must have! Original (updated to clarify) I love this place. The scallops were some of the best I’d ever had - so unique and the pasta (duck ragu) was amazing. If the kitchen is not too busy they will sometimes allow you to do up to 4 half portion entrees (with a couple of exceptions) per table so you can try different items. Our table also got the chicken which had incredibly crispy skin, and some other pasta dishes. The Michelangelo received rave reviews. The caramel gelato was a perfect ending. The wine list is all Italian wines only so it’s not an extensive wine list but there’s definitely something everyone can enjoy. Our waitress was wonderfully helpful, attentive, and so bubbly and fun. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience and can’t wait to go back!
Amazing. We came through with reservations on a Tuesday and we so taken care of! We got caccio y Pepe, the loose lasagne and the risotto Del Mar (forgive me I think these names are right!) but it was all so so good. Our waiter was also able to give some awesome wine recommendations.
Dined here for our anniversary! Dinner here was amazing! Definitely returning! Food, service and ambiance were great! My husband had the veal and I had the lasagna (side order of risotto…delicious!)
A real gem in a lovely neighborhood. Food was excellent, service was awesome. I had an excellent beef carpaccio followed by a no-less excellent ravioli with meat filling, sage and butter (very different name on the menu) and a little piece of heaven in my mouth: their chocolate strataciella gelato. Divine!!!
This is by far my favorite restaurant in Atlanta. The pasta is immaculate, while the wine selection is unmatched. After dipping the fresh/warm bread in the mussel sauce as a starter, I knew immediately that the main dishes would be equally as heavenly. And sure enough the butternut squash pasta and chicken did not disappoint. The dessert was rich and creamy. Lastly they made the best old fashion I have had ever. Maybe I got lucky with the bartender, maybe I haven't had enough old fashions (unlikely), maybe I like rye whiskey...who cares... still the best I've had. This is a classy Italian restaurant and I would recommend it to anyone visiting Atlanta whether it be for a birthday, client dinner, or treating yourself out to a nice dinner. This is the place to go. Notes: Yes...they have gluten free options. They can split pastas and salads, for the ladies with a small stomach. The service was very nice and well educated on the menu.
My absolute favorite place for date night during the spring / summer. Food was incredible and the cutchery board was delectable. They also gave great wine selections.
Food was delicious, I don’t go out for pasta but a Mano is making me change my mind. The fusilli e scallops was so good I definitely recommend it. The noodles were so el dente. And the service was fantastic. It was someone’s birthday and not only did they give us a free dessert, they gave us a signed card as well. My heart is so full with pasta and kind people.
Some of the best Italian food I’ve had, it’s certainly named one of the top 20 Italian restaurants in the country for a reason! All of the pasta was perfectly cooked and you could taste the freshness of the ingredients. We thought there was a great variety on the menu, and the pappardelle with the duck ragu was our personal favorite. Smaller portions and a bit pricey but worth it for the quality!
You wouldn’t even know this place exist it’s so tucked away but the menu is amazing, the patio is beautiful. Everything I had was absolutely amazing, knowledgeable server was very nice! Def look forward to coming back
they were busy on a Saturday night so we ended up taking advantage of the full-service bar instead of waiting for a table and had a great experience all around. Morgan and Caroline at the bar were amazing! Morgan provided excellent recommendations on wine pairings, entrees, and dessert. we had a great time!! thanks again Morgan & Caroline
BE AWARE! 20% IS ADDED TO TAKE OUT ORDERS AUTOMATICALLY.Wow!!! New menu is sooo much better than the old one . Fettuccine Alfredo is amazing! A very special place with wonderful food and ambiance. Can't come here enough. Had the salmon. It was amazing! I love this place and highly recommend it.
The experience at Sotto Sotto was memorable, encapsulating, and filled with a sense of luxury. The owner (I believe) was delighted to direct us to the hostess stand, and we were placed at a table in the garden room. The garden room offered scenery that immersed us in nature, providing a welcome respite from the usual sights of Atlanta's restaurants. Our server, Josh, delivered exceptional service with a welcoming energy, smile, and demeanor that made us feel special and important. Josh took care of all our requests, handled menu questions regarding food allergies and ingredients, and was ready to deliver alternative options in detail (we were very impressed by this). The food was amazing — you could taste the passion in every bite. This was a perfect place for an intentional date/meeting/social gathering. I highly recommend dining here for Italian cuisine, and I look forward to returning to try more dishes soon!
The food is fantastic here. We don't come often but every time the food is high quality, well made. The only challenge is the space is tight and sometimes the service staff can be overwhelmed. We had good service but not great. Drinks are pretty good. Had the cranberry smash and it's a nice fall cocktail.
Great Italian restaurant in the highlands. Intimate setting, dimly lit sets a wonderful atmosphere. Our server was extremely aware and attentive and in a respectful manner, showing up when needed but giving us space to talk. All the pasta is made in house and the dining experience was fantastic
An absolute favourite in Atlanta. The food is fabulous. Been visiting Sotto Sotto twice a year (when I'm working in Atlanta) since I found it on a trip to Atlanta almost 10yrs ago. A lovely experience every time I go to Sotto Sotto. Very highly recommended.
Absolutely incredible! Some of the best Italian food I’ve ever had-authentic, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. Every dish was a hit, from start to finish. The service was chef’s kiss-attentive, friendly, and made the whole experience even better. If you’re looking for a truly special Italian dining experience, Sotto Sotto is the place to go!
We sat on the patio and my entire family had the loveliest experience. The food was excellent, the staff was kind and knowledgeable, this is a place where you can count on having a delicious meal and a lovely experience. I wish I could remember our servers name to shout him out because he was one of the main reasons our experience was so great. Attentive but also left us to have a good time, we laughed with him and he answered any questions we had - he’s a gem. The food was also perfection; everything was hot and cooked perfectly and better than expected. Good portion sizes and delicious. This is my go to Italian restaurant in Atlanta!
Overall, a great restaurant in a nice comfortable intimate setting. I would be happy to come back here. The food is fresh, authentic and the staff is friendly. I didn't give five stars because of a few misses that shouldn't be at this price point: (1) The table cover was paper versus cloth. It moved around at times during dinner. I understand it's more efficient but disappointing at this price point. (2) All the pastas are cooked very al dente, more undercooked than I would like. (3) I felt rushed and only had one sip of my wine before I was transitioned from the bar to our table. We came on a Monday night when over half the tables were empty and there were no lines.
I was grateful that they were able to seat us without a reservation which is apparently a feat on a Friday night on Highland Avenue... It reminded me of a cool little spot in Aspen, just warm and cozy. Service was excellent. Drinks were pretty good. I found the ravioli to be a bit greasy and the papperdelle to be too much on one note. Overall, a very nice date night spot.
9/20/22: Had the burrata and tomato, Caesar salad, beet salad, mussels, bread and olive oil, and the paparadelle with duck ragu. All were pretty good. The paparadelle noodle was a nice and thin but a bit more rubbery and less chewy than I prefer. The ragu sauce was good, shredded rather than ground duck. Between the white chocolate bread pudding and dolce al marscapone, the former was better I think.
The ambiance is lovely. The wine selection...very strong and the server quite knowledgeable. The scallops were seared to perfection and creamy in the middle. The seafood risotto truly delightful (even though there was a bit of sand from the clam and mussel shells). The downfall was the special of the evening...the pheasant. The mushrooms and potatoes that came with it were excellent (overlooking the one bite of sand left on the mushrooms)...but the pheasant itself was very dry. I have had succulent pheasant on more than one occasion...so it CAN be done...just not this time. Overall I wish all of the plates had a little more color...each dish was a little too "brown"...more edible greenery (especially for the scallops and pheasant) would not have hurt anything at all. That being said...everything was good enough where I would come back and willingly try other dishes.
We waited 20-30 minutes past our reservation (8:45) to be seated, but our server made up for it! I cannot remember his name, but he had a nose ring, always made sure our wine glasses were filled and was very prompt with everything.
Our family stopped over for their white truffle dinner. Yes it’s delicious but the presentation is something to experience. The service was fantastic and my family loves coming there. The only downside was when we went to get the car from the valet. I tipped him $6 but he said that since I was there longer he wanted more. Being shook down in front of my family sucked, but it’s the world we live in. I feel it strange that so many aspects of the restaurant were great, being fleeced by the valet will make me think of alternatives
I never really cared about service, the food always comes first for me. However this experience made me realize why people care about service. We were left for 15-20 min with our food waiting for the Parmesan to be brought to the table, and every step required us to wait and watch the waiters visit every other table. Our waiter specifically was very nice, warm and friendly, but overall the service was questionable. The duck pasta was delicious though, and the tiramisu-adjacent was a bit “everybody so creative”
I really enjoyed my first experience. However it was my partner’s bday and we didn’t get a complementary cake. I am unsure as to why since I had seen other tables get some. Other than that, the place is worth the price.
Disappointed by what could be a very good dining experience. Visited with 3 couples. Service seemed entitled and food came out at cool temperatures. For a place in this high demand you would think they would have their isht together and not bring out 3 out of the 8 plates ordered cold (different courses). Waiter was unattentive and wasnt very accommodating. Reservations had us waiting another 20 mins. It potentially could be a great experience because of the quality of food, but for the price and reputation they should do much better on the delivery.
My boyfriend and I came down to Atlanta to visit our family. When we arrived, the host rudely told us they had a table available in the patio and they would get it prepared for us which we were happy with. It was around 10pm (they close at 12am) and we had limited options so we decided to stay even though we were given attitude and unwelcoming vibes from both the hosts. After standing at the host stand for a few mins waiting for an update, one of the two hosts told us to move next to the bar to wait (We’d never been there before so wasn’t sure where to wait). We waited 15-20 min and then we asked how long it would be since they hadn’t given us an estimated timeline and they said “Well, we’re setting up inside for you to accommodate the group.” In a very sassy manner (We had someone on crutches but we were fine with the original plan to sit on the patio). I asked if we could stick with the original plan to be seated in the patio because the table they changed us to was right next to the busy entrance/exit of the kitchen and front door. She scoffed and said “Well that’s gonna be a longer wait” and I replied that’s fine thank you. Her plan to seat us at this table indoors would not have accommodated our family member with crutches due to his crutches and boot being in the way. After waiting 30 min, the hosts failed to update us on our table so we had to go ask them once again. When approaching them at the stand, they completely avoided my family member and continued their personal conversation, then responded that it was going to be a little longer but would go check. I have experience working in a sports bar, fine dining, and every possible position in the food industry for 10 years. I have NEVER experienced such rudeness and unprofessional service from the people that are supposed to be welcoming. We felt stared at and like we were an inconvenience while waiting for our table and it made us want to leave. After waiting approx. 45 mins, we ended up being seated in the patio and thankfully, our server, food and food runners made our experience better. The quality of the food was amazing. Our waitress was kind, professional, and attentive. The food runner was personable and kind. I wish we felt welcomed once entering.
The food is truly exceptional, to the point that I would rather drive 30 minutes to dine here than walk a couple of minutes to eat at La Grotta (which is still a good restaurant). Service is fine if you are seated at a table. However, the atmosphere at the bar is not very welcoming. When dining alone, I feel guilty occupying a table, so I usually choose to sit at the bar. On several occasions, I noticed that the bartenders seemed unwilling to engage with me, while interacting normally with other customers (most of whom happened to be white). I’m not sure whether this is due to personal preference or something else. As a result, I avoid coming here alone. It’s disappointing that this can’t be a place like Delbar, where I can go several times a week and develop friendly relationships with the staff.
We’ve been coming here for years and it’s typically one of my fav spots in Atlanta. However last night was a huge miss in many aspects. It was a Sunday night and the restaurant was half empty. So to my surprise my husband and I were sat in a small two person table just inches away from another occupied two person table while there were so many other 4 person tables open (and note during our entire dinner I never saw these tables occupied). On our other side we had another two person table squished next to us. So we could all clearly listen to each other’s convos. I could tell all 3 tables were annoyed being squished next to each other. There were also many gnats flying about our food and occupants of the mentioned tables were all trying to swat them away. It’s the month of January so all these gnats make little sense and feel gross in such a nice restaurant. Also, other waiters/staff would constantly bump into our tables and us and a few times they almost knocked over our water glasses because of the cramped space while there were plenty of open tables around us that we could be spread out on. It also limited how much we could order. Beyond that, our waitress (she wore a white headband) was unfriendly and unhelpful. We constantly had to ask for basics such as shared plates and serving spoons and utensils. Her attitude made it clear she did not want to be there. The salads and lasagna were delicious per usual (they were the highlight) but we also ordered the scallops and for $32 we received these two tiny overcooked and rubbery scallops the size of quarters that were clearly beyond well done. When we told the waitress about our rubbery scallops she did not seem to care and just said “okay.” Then she brought the check without offering the dessert menu or asking if we wanted additional drinks. She then hovered over my husband while he paid and tipped. It was awkward and again, no mention or sorry about the scallops. We saw other waiters be very proactive and helpful with their guests but unfortunately we received someone who could care less. My husband and I won’t be back for a while.
The food was pretty good but the service was terrible. We came in with a 5:45pm reservation. I think they were having a busy day but that wasn’t communicated by our waiter or the manager. We didn’t place our drink orders after being seated for 20 minutes. Actually The food took over an hour to get to our table. No one checked on us or apologized for the long wait. Actually, I saw the manager making rounds to check on tables because of the slow service but she didn’t come to ours. It seemed like our table was being actively avoided. I’ve lived in Inman park my entire life. I have been to this restaurant several times as a child and now as an adult. It’s hard to not assume that because of race we were given obviously unequal service to the other patrons. I don’t think I should recommend this place to my African American peers and family. You will probably be overlooked here. I spoke with the manager about my experience and she told me she didn’t agree with what I said. As though it was something to agree with. She wasn’t there to experience the bad service with me. I forgot to mention that when I went to use the restroom the toilet was covered in urine so told one of the staff close by. Management needs to be better and more open to constructive criticism. I walked away after I realized the manager wasn’t going to be helpful and was only trying to make excuses for the bad service on her part.
The food is lacking flavor and seasoning. In terms of the pastas and the appetizers, it was just very bland and not exciting or bursting with flavors. However, the customer service is amazing. And the overall experience was good.
We used to love Sotto Sotto, but our last visit was a huge letdown. For the price you pay and the reputation this place carries, you’d expect great service and a comfortable dining experience — neither happened. We were squeezed into a cramped table with barely any room for our food or personal items, while plenty of larger tables sat half empty. The staff didn’t seem to care, and the manager offered no help or apology. The whole situation made it hard to enjoy the food, which honestly no longer feels as special as it used to.
It was our first time here. I love Italian food! However this place was very disappointing. I ordered fettuccine Alfredo ( it was brought to me cold, the Alfredo sauce was watered down) I returned it. My spouse got a shrimp pasta (the noodles were semi hard/undercooked, the shrimp was good). The bread was stale (very chewy/hard to cut and swallow). The Caesar salad was very good (that’s the one thing we requested doubles of). I then order fried calamari and that was the best I’ve had (it was hot, spicy and well seasoned). As for our drinks, my lemonade was good but my spouses orange juice wasn’t expired (it was very sour) the waiter apologized multiple times. Desert was really good though, I had the caramel flan . The tables are extremely close together, and the noise is unbearable. None the less, our waiter was very compassionate and prompt with our service. The greeting at the door was very professional as well. It was worth a try for the first time, but definitely not a second. Owner replied below and said they didn’t have calamari or a shrimp pasta (yes y’all did) on January 28th that’s exactly what we ordered!!! I had a spicy fried calamari appetizer , the shrimp pasta wasn’t Alfredo and my caramel glazed desert. Due to the food being expired or not edible we did not have to pay for the shrimp pasta (free), the drinks (free) and my desert was (FREE).
After hearing this was a top Italian spot in Atlanta, I was eager to try it. Once I arrived for my 8 pm reservation, I was told it would be a few minutes before the table was ready. I got a drink at the bar and was haggled down for a $25 cocktail, which could not be added to my dinner tab (weird). After 30 minutes of waiting, I asked the hostess if the table was close to being ready, and she said, again, "a few more minutes". She mentioned, "it is typical on a Friday to wait 30-45 mins past reservation to be seated" - that is obscene. After 45 minutes I was seated. The wine selection was limited, selected European. The starter I ordered, Smoked Burrata, was melted plastic cheese with salt and pepper on the side. I had to asked for bread to complement the dish. What was I going to do? Eat the burrata with my fork and knife? My main entree of fettuccine alfredo was a glorified mac & cheese, the lasagna was soupy, tasteless, and had no meat. In sum, Sotto Sotto has no place being ranked among the top Italian restaurants in Atlanta alongside Lyla Lila, La Grotta, and Amore e Amore. Extremely disappointed with this experience as I had high expectations.
Really disappointing experience at Sotto Sotto last weekend. We’ve been regular customers for years and always enjoyed dining here, but this visit was extremely disappointing. On Saturday night, we were assigned to a tiny table even though there were plenty of larger four-person tables around us occupied by only two people. Our bags and belongings had nowhere to go, and since we ordered quite a few dishes, the small table couldn’t even fit all the plates comfortably. We brought this up to the staff and even the manager, but no solution was offered. It completely ruined our dining experience, and we decided to cancel the rest of our order and leave. If this is how the restaurant treats its returning customers, we’ll probably never come back again.
