I recently stopped by for dinner and grabbed a seat at the bar, and I can't say enough good things about the experience. The atmosphere here is fantastic—it balances that upscale Buckhead vibe with a genuine, welcoming Southern warmth. It’s polished but still feels relaxed. The service was impeccable, but the real star was the food. I started with an Old Fashioned which was perfectly mixed, and ordered the pork chop for my main. It was incredible—easily one of the best I've had. It had a perfect smoky grilled flavor and the sides (brussels sprouts and butternut squash) complemented it perfectly with that apple rosemary jus. If you're in the neighborhood and looking for great modern Southern food with a view, this is the spot. Highly recommend sitting at the bar!

Eli was our server tonight and how he went above and beyond to take my care of my allergies (gluten and dairy free) was amazing. He talked through my options and made sure my food came out separate from everyone else. Also checked the plate to make sure it was prepared correctly. He was attentive, caring and has the best personality. My co-worker wasn’t sure what to order and he described each plate with how it’s prepared and flavor profile. It turned a normal restaurant experience into an incredible one. The food was great but I will come back for the service!

Not my first time at South City, but my first visit to the Buckhead location. The service was excellent; everyone was friendly and helpful. The food was great too. I had the famous fried chicken and it didn't disappoint crispy, juicy and full of flavor. The sides were good as well. Overall it was a great experience.

Let me say I looovveee this location! Service and food is always awesome! I ordered the Fried Chicken, mash potatoes and collard greens . My bartender was Jordan and he made my experience even better. I didn’t know what drink I wanted but Jordan was able to exceed my expectations. Most definitely will continue to come back.

Update: 20260108 | This is my third or fourth time at the Buckhead location with a group, and South City Kitchen continues to deliver every time. Everything was great from start to finish. The drinks were on point, the atmosphere and music were exactly what you want for a relaxed upscale vibe, and the service was solid - thanks Kevin! The cornbread muffins, sweet tea and "Perfect Burger" were I dare say PERFECT, as always, and honestly a big part of why I keep coming back. Consistently good food, great ambiance, and a spot I’ll continue to revisit. I used the parking lot today, usually take MARTA, and the access through the lobby of the adjoining hotel was great! Will def be back!

This was my first time at South City Kitchen after hearing superb reviews for YEARS! My first visit did not disappoint and the friend green tomatoes and Salmon may have been two of my favorite meals in Atlanta, thus far! If you’re ever in the Buckhead area, you should definitely stop by!

Quickly becoming my favorite brunch spot in the city. I’ve stopped by multiple times whenever I’m in the city and I’ve never had a bad experience except that one time when they didn’t have the ingredients for what I wanted, but otherwise 10/10 experience. I’ve been seated upstairs and in their private rooms as well, and enjoyed myself each time. The dining area upstairs is a bit congested tho. The grits has got to be my favorite. It can get very busy so definitely make reservations. They have valet as well, but it can be tricky to locate depending on where you’re coming from.

AMAZING BRUNCH SPOT South City Kitchen delivers a fantastic southern food experience with bold flavors and comforting classics. The crispy fried chicken, served with mashed potatoes and greens, had a beautiful presentation but mildly seasoned, while the trout meal was flavorful and well-executed. DINNER FOR 2 We started with cornbread, butter biscuits, and fried Gouda with sweet chili sauce, which were absolute highlights of the evening. Each bite was rich and satisfying, setting the tone for a great meal. However, the Old Fashioned whiskey and Spiced Pear Mule fell a bit short compared to our last visit—they lacked the depth we were expecting. The convenience of parking was a plus, with a garage located right above the restaurant. Another great feature is their use of the “Sunday" payment system, allowing guests to pay directly from their phones. It’s perfect for groups, as it lets you split and itemize the bill effortlessly. Overall, South City Kitchen remains a solid choice for southern comfort food with standout dishes, though we hope for a little more consistency in the cocktails next time.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely Outstanding – Beyond Five Stars! From the moment we walked through the doors of South City Kitchen, it was clear we were in for something special. This wasn’t just dinner — it was an experience. ✨ A Host with True Hospitality Shadi at the host stand set the tone for the entire evening. Warm, gracious, and genuinely attentive, Shadi went above and beyond from the very first hello. It felt like we were being welcomed into a friend’s home rather than a restaurant. Every detail was handled with care and thoughtfulness, and that kind of hospitality makes all the difference. 🍷 Service That Defines Excellence Upstairs, our server Jay elevated our very important team-building dinner into an unforgettable evening. Her balance of professionalism, warmth, and attentiveness was nothing short of remarkable. She anticipated needs before we even voiced them, kept the energy at the table flowing with ease, and somehow made each person feel personally taken care of. Team dinners can be tricky — but Jay turned ours into a seamless, joyful celebration. 🥘 Food & Atmosphere Of course, the food was spectacular — soulful, flavorful Southern cuisine prepared with modern finesse and heart. The atmosphere carried the perfect blend of elegance and comfort, making it ideal for both business and pleasure. 🌟 The Verdict South City Kitchen didn’t just provide a meal, it created a memory. Thanks to Shadi and Jay, our dinner became one of those rare evenings that everyone will be talking about for a long time. If you’re looking for impeccable service, extraordinary food, and genuine Southern hospitality, look no further. South City Kitchen is not just a restaurant — it’s the gold standard.

Have visited several times and the food, cocktails and service are usually all excellent, unfortunately last time they served undercooked chicken, but the service / response was good. Still worth a visit.

The service was amazing. The she crab soup was creamy and the fried chicken was tender and crispy and the mashed potatoes was creamy the homemade hot sauce paired with it was tasty .

Great spot to meet up with friends for brunch. Food selections were diverse and everyone enjoyed their meal. Food was seasoned to perfection. Love the twist they put on their fried chicken livers. Their cornbread muffins with real corn kernels was a treat. 😋 No brunch is complete without mimosas. 🥂 We ordered a pitcher of Mango Mimosa which was perfectly mixed. Plus, Valet Parking is only $2 + tip.

I came here after having a bad experience and leaving Bar Nistro… Long story short. I was happy to finally make it because they were on my places to visit list. I sat at the bar and Sam was absolutely amazing. He gave me great food advice/recommendations, he was knowledgeable of the menu options, and his customer service was excellent!! 10/10 recommend and I will definitely to try some entrees and other menu options. Oh and that bread… 🤤

I order the shrimp and grits. Very flavorful, no seasoning needed. I’d prefer thicker grits, but overall very good. Decent service, I say at the bar.

This place makes the best of all the Southern staples. The start with a basket of biscuits and corn muffins and let me tell you, it would be all too easy to fill up with them. They are downright delicious. For appetizers we had the she-crab soup, fried oysters, fried green tomatoes and the scallops. The soup was a little lacking in flavor and was quite ordinary. The oysters and fried green tomatoes was incredible. The green tomatoes were stuffed with goat cheese and it was such a nice surprise. The oysters were a touch spicy but we all love spicy and the bed of salad they sat on was a great compliment. For entrees, we ordered the trout, strip steak, and pork chop. We also ordered extra sides of pirloo and succotash. Everyone who has the trout scarfed it down and could not stop raving about it. The pork chop was good and came with asparagus. The asparagus was perfectly seasoned but slightly overcooked. For me, the real star was the pirloo, it tasted almost like gumbo only missing some shrimp and crab! It was spicy and flavorful and filling. Overall, the entire meal ridiculously delicious and I can’t wait to go back and try more.

PJ was my server and he was spot on with the description. I ordered the Beef Cheek I'm not a fan of peas in my food but they were amazing. With my usual Old Fashion I did come for the Pork Belly but they removed it from the menu

Kayla was exceptional! She served us with grace, making our entire experience delightful. The valet service was convenient at just two dollars, and the short walk to the exquisite hotel leading to the restaurant added to the charm. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by a smiling staff, who promptly seated us at our reserved table for Valentine's Day within 30 seconds. The culinary journey was extraordinary; from the crispy fried tomato to the succulent fried chicken with potatoes, the flavorful okra, and the delectable mussels, each dish was a delight. The champagne complemented the meal perfectly, and the cornbread, complete with real corn kernels, was a pleasant surprise. Every bite was savored, and I truly relished the entire experience.

This was an excellent choice for brunch! The hostess and waitress were professional and friendly and the food did not disappoint. I started with the mildly sweet yet buttery She-Crab soup, which was more like a bisque. My cousins enjoyed the Chicken Livers. I then had the Shrimp and Grits which was very flavorful and not overly seasoned. The bellinis with white peach puree were tasty. For dessert I had the Banana Pudding which made my taste buds oh-so happy! Overall this was a super satisfying dining experience to remember. I'd definitely revisit South City Kitchen.

We went to South City Kitchen Buckhead for lunch on the second day of our trip and I'm so glad we did. We got there towards the end of the lunchtime rush so the restaurant wasn't too packed and we didn't have to wait for a table, which is always nice. For our appetizer, we ordered the crispy oysters which were so freaking good! I could have had three more plates of that and left more than satisfied. For our mains, we both ended up getting the shrimp and grits and it was everything that you want shrimp and grits to be: warm, creamy, the perfect amount of heat, and the flavour was just out of this world. It was truly southern comfort in a bowl. They also give you a basket of biscuits and cornbread which were delicious too; buttery and rich, and not dry at all. I used my cornbread to sop up the shrimp and grits - perfection. We ended our meal with cappuccinos and agreed that we'd definitely be coming back before our trip was over and we did! On our last day, before heading to the airport, we stopped by for lunch again. The restaurant was much busier this day, so we sat at the bar (which has full menu service). My husband got the fried chicken (which comes with collard greens and mashed potatoes) and I got the shrimp and grits again. He said the fried chicken was really good, and of course the shrimp and grits was incredible yet again. My husband really wanted to try the banana pudding for dessert but the kitchen had just closed. But our server, Al, was so kind and ended up bringing us two of the mini banana puddings that they usually give out for birthdays. Such a thoughtful - and delicious! - gesture. Everything from the staff, atmosphere, location, and of course the food was perfect. We will definitely be coming back on our next trip to ATL!

This location is one of our favorite stops when we come to town. Food and drinks are consistently great! Today we sat at the bar for brunch. Jordan was our bartender and his drinks (margs and espresso martinis) were excellent! His service and personality was even better. Highly recommend!

I came here because I could walk from my hotel and loved it! I sat at the bar and everything was fantastic. The ambiance was great, the food was delicious, and my bartender/server Jordan was really amazing. He heard me say friend green tomatoes and immediately made sure I was aware that they’re the best (he did not lie- they were amazing). All around really great place to go!

Chesa was phenomenal with our party. Great service, great food, and just an overall awesome atmosphere! From the drinks, appetizers, entrees, desserts, we were thoroughly pleased with the establishment. As visitors of the city, we’d highly recommend this place to visit if you’re stopping in for a short or long stay. Thank you again!

Had a great lunch! The burger is really the best in the area and the server, Chesa, was even better. She made our lunch truly enjoyable with her warm hospitality and friendly smile. I’ll be back and I’ll always be requesting Chesa as my server.

Wow! My daughter and a friend and I had a fantastic meal yesterday. The food was outstanding: fried green tomatoes with goat cheese-exceptional, crab cake was delightful, pork belly was tasty and the salad balanced it perfectly. Shrimp and grits were perfection. Pork chop was tasty. The cocktails were superb, the wine a lovely complement to the meal. Our server, Jennifer, elevated every course and her suggestions were spot on. We finished this wonderful meal with coffee, chocolate chess pie and banana pudding. I highly recommend South City for an outstanding meal. We’ll be back. For a special treat, ask for Jennifer. She was there when we needed her with great recommendations, anticipating our needs and she left us to our conversation. Excellent food and truly excellent experience, thanks to Jennifer.

Bummed I can only leave 5 stars because this place deserves more! I was with a work group of 8 and we had an amazing experience. The food was fabulous and our server, Jay, was beyond exceptional. She made wonderful drink and food recommendations and provided on point service throughout our time there. Thank you so much for a lovely evening.

We visited a day before Valentine's. They were serving a set menu. The bread and fries green tomatoes was nothing special. The crab cake was good. The martini was good. The pork chop and chicken were great and the side dishes were average. Dessert was okay but unremarkable. The atmosphere was pleasant and the service was fantastic. Our server, Coco was the most memorable aspect of our experience.

The food here was delicious, and what really stood out to us was the atmosphere. The wait time was reasonable, and since we weren’t in a rush and went on a weekend, it worked out nicely. We also enjoyed spending some time in the lounge before sitting at the bar. The bar itself was impressive and offered good service. Overall, we had a great experience and would definitely come back

Food was ok, we had appetizers…the biscuits and cornbread were good. The fried tomatoes were great, the chicken bites were ok. The banana pudding was the worse I’ve had… The service was good. I would go back to try the chicken & waffles before I would say, I wouldn’t go back. The restaurant was very busy, so there is something good about this restaurant.

If you're looking for upscale Southern dining in Buckhead, South City Kitchen is sure to please. The service is friendly and fitting for the upscale vibe of the restaurant, the atmosphere is pleasant and suitable for a date or nice night out with friends and family, and the food is solid, though not nearly as good as hole in the walls I dined at in New Orleans. My daughter and I tried the fried chicken and the shrimp and grits and both dishes nicely seasoned, though were a bit salty for our tastes. The portions were generous though, and I enjoyed how tender the chicken was. The shrimp and grits were a bit too saucy, though the grits were delightful. Overall, it's still a solid restaurant and a place I would go again to try other items on the menu.

nice ambience. it wasn’t too crowded. drinks were good & fairly priced. i got the steak & eggs for brunch. the steak could’ve used more flavor/seasoning as i was informed they only use salt & pepper for it. the expectation is to use the salsa verde for flavoring. the serving size is good though.

This was my first visit and the service was awesome. The selection of spirits was fantastic. The main dining area has tables surrounded by glass wine cellars, a fireplace, and there are leather lounge chairs/couches for a more relaxed experience. Seafood apps (mussels and shrimp) and She Crab soup didn't do it for me tonight, and I can't say I was excited to sit in the "added-on portion" of the restaurant (with heaters) with the other aforementioned seating options. Throw in the added $21 to park and the experience just fell flat.

This was a nice upscale establishment. There was Valet parking. We were seated right away and had a nice waitress. I started with a mixed drink that another waiter suggested. The complimentary corn muffins and biscuits were a great addition. For appetizers, the waitress suggested the pork belly but they ended up being out of it. We decided on the crab cake and the BBQ pulled pork on a hoecake. They were both alright. My daughter and I both said we have had better. For entree I ordered the fried chicken meal. Nice crispy chicken breast (ask for the hotsauce), mashed potatoes were some of the best I have had, Collards were not bad. My daughter ordered the Porkchop and she loved it. My son ordered fried shrimp and fries. For dessert we ordered a banana pudding.

First timer! And my favorite was the liver appetizer! Complete surprise. My main was the Trout which was cooked perfectly however the side of grilled turnip stems was horrible! The waiter brought me collards instead for a fee

My husband surprised me with this restaurant on my birthday 2/19. We got there about an hour before closing so most of the seating area was closed off. As we were being seated, I spotted a huge black roach right next to our table. I notified the manager and asked her to move us, politely of course and she did. I was skeptical of eating there but we ended up staying and the food was phenomenal to say the least. I don’t want to scare any new customers off but I had to be honest.

Trevor Krawcyk

Our server and the food were both fantastic. The atmosphere was also great, but when we were seated the first table provided had a very loose and wobbly top. The hostess allowed us to change tables, but another couple was then seated at our original table without it being repaired or replaced. Disappointing standards for an otherwise apparently remarkable establishment.

S
Shawn Johnson

Our server was very well versed in the history and techniques of the food we ordered. The food was good, but just decent by traditional southern standard. If you enjoy a clean eat, this fare is just for you. I had the coconut rice and the mac & cheese. The best part of the rice dish was the deep fried crispy black eyed peas. I never in my life encountered such a flavor in a bean. Our server asked the chef to come to our table so we could discuss how the peas were prepared. Phenomenal. The mac & chese was rich and well baked. My wife got the Pork Chops with corn succatash and asparagus. She was not thrilled with the succatash but like the rest of her meal.

I had a pleasant experience at South City Kitchen for Sunday brunch. I arrived right at 1:30pm which worked out well because apparently they weren't taking anymore walk ins after us (so calling ahead for reservations might be a good idea). The restaurant itself is beautiful. Very spacious, pretty decor with a nice size patio. The service was prompt and our waitress was courteous as well. We were served complementary biscuits and cornbread (with actual corn inside I've never had that before) and apple jam as well which tasted pretty good! I ordered the chicken and waffles because my friend had said the chicken was the best in the city. Don't you feel like expectations just set the mood for the dining experience lol. The waffle was really crunchy to me almost like in an over cooked way. I like for my waffles to be fluffy and soft, so I wasn't really a fan of them. I did enjoy the chicken though.

K
Kristen U

Mixed feelings here. Service was inconsistent, slow, & lackluster. Never got bread I later saw was available, wasn't offered cocktails/drinks I guess because I showed up about 15min after the initial seating of our party. It was hard to even get ice or lime for my water. Some of the food was delicious but the 2 mains I tried were terrible. I came on a weeknight with a large group. The appetizers -- fried green tomatoes with goat cheese, spicy pork stack, and pimento cheese plate were fantastic. Loved the innovative spin on Southern classics. Enjoyed the she-crab soup: sublime. For my entree, I was going to get shrimp & grits but based on the server's strong recommendation a coworker & I went with the pork chop and she assured us if we didnt like it she would replace it. Unfortunately the dish was more like a soup, owing to the massive amt of broth -- a sweet vinegary Worcestershire "bacon au jus" dousing the meat & accompanying corn & asparagus. I took 1 small bite, spit out the bone and fat in the bite and was done. The sauce soaked everything; there was no salvaging any of it. It took the better part of an hour to get her attention and get my dish replaced. I opted for New York strip. Figured it would be hard to mess up steak, and I was famished at that point. Others were on their dessert and my dinner was brought to me in a box. HELLO -- I had not eaten dinner yet -- it was 8pm at that point for a dinner that started at 6 & I was still hungry. I had asked for no sauce or topping on my steak, only on the side, to avoid a similar incident as the pork. I asked for medium rare and I was informed they were only cooked medium, no alterations....OK. Odd. I should have known it was going to be a travesty. The strip was well done, overcooked, a wonky uneven cut, covered in a carpet what looked like reconstituted onions from Lipton French onion soup mix. An abomination for $56. I didnt get the veg that was supposed to come with the steak, just 5-6 wisps of spinach and leek and undercooked potatoes. I closed the box and went to Waffle House on the way home. They treated me way better for $8. Still haven't eaten my leftovers. Insanity.

I was visiting from out of town. Nice vibe. Great drinks. The food was horrible. Mashed potatoes were runny and tasted like pure margarine. Undercooked chicken. Sitting at the bar, I let the bartender know my food was undercooked. She tried to say it was the bone. No ma'am, this meat had blood running through it. Very disappointing for an ATL soul food restaurant.

I want to start my saying I love South City kitchen, I literally had my engagement dinner here and have been a patron for years. However, I just recently ordered a to go and I had some that appeared to be harden plastic cooked into my food. Look carefully you can see the hole where I pulled it out.

Worst food and Service ever! Please avoid it all cost. The fettuccine dishes are completely over salted. It was completely UNedible and they refused to refund my money, but instead offered me two free shots of tequila! Also, they never told me that they were charging me for bottled water. They offered me water which is usually complementary and while he (the Manager who was clearly on a date at a nearby table) did say it was bottled, he didn’t say they were gonna charge 4 dollars for it! The drinks were watered down and I didn’t even finish them all. Cost of my dinner was $133 or something I could eat and couldn’t really drink either!!

Few issues , my reservation was for 1:15 and the restaurant wasn’t pack and I didn’t get seated til 1:28. Once seated my table was dirty and had waited 12 minutes before the server stop by only for her to ask was I seated . Which was odd because if I’m at the table with menus then I’m pretty sure I didn’t seat myself but I digress .I then waited another 7 minutes for the table to be cleaned and then had the host stop by to ask who sat me . Which was odd . It was the manager who sat me …. Then I ordered my app and food and drinks . The issues continued, I ordered a non alcoholic cocktail that had alcohol in it. My pimento cheese was dropped off to the wrong table by the host then sent to my table . When I would’ve preferred a new one but again I digress . I asked for bottled water and was given still and had to ask again . For my tab to be almost $100 for two people I expect way better . Aysia was my server and in the most of all the confusion I appreciate the she never avoided my table and kept a smile on her face and remained pleasant through the entire dining experience. My food was great just too many errors , I was not satisfied
