Food is amazing, real food not fake processed stuff, staff is great and funny and talks to you like family. Love it here
Auburn has two great diners and this is one of them. Completely restored in 2003, this is one of just a few remaining diners built by the Bixler Manufacturing Company. The diner is small and always busy, but the excellent food and service, not to mention the historic building itself, make it a must visit.
Very good. Nice staff. Fast service. Delicious eggs benny.
I came in with a f450 pulling a 40ft gooseneck. I parked it in a spot but of course it was a little long. I get to the door and some worker stops me tells me they will not serve me because of my truck. Then the lady that owns the place steps in and says no no please come eat. I drive hotshot so I get this all over. But she said come on it. Atmosphere was great owner was great my server Mary was amazing could not have been better. If I am ever in the area again I will be back for sure.
Good food at great prices. Friendly service. We will be back regularly.
This little diner was wonderful! It definitely has its regular customers. The waitresses are friendly, and the food is great 👍 I had the best tuna melt there. Give it a try! You won't be disappointed.
This is a very adorable little diner with very friendly service and even friendlier customers. Huge portion sizes and very tasty. Great atmosphere, 10/10, will definitely come back if I'm ever in town again. It's small, so be prepared to brush elbows if you sit at the counter or wait a bit for a table, it's deservedly very popular.
Excellent example of the diner genre. The atmosphere feels authentic without leaning on 50's kitsch as so many lesser diners do. The service was efficient and friendly, and it was clear that they treat the many obvious regulars well. The food was solid diner fare, well prepared. We will definitely be back.
Sunday brunch time - very busy and a 45 minute wait. Even after our orders were taken - Another 35 minute wait. Typical diner atmosphere. Good food at reasonable prices. What makes this place great though are the waitresses! These women are really working hard under stressful circumstances but are so friendly and accommodating. The waitresses made the long wait very tolerable. Kudos!
100000/10 stars for great food, great environment and great service!!
Always goes above and beyond when I have odd day before requests. Food is amazing, service amazing, atmosphere just what you want it to be. Everything is done quicker than expected. If you want an early breakfast or great experience this is the local place to go. Thank you again for all of your help on my night before orders for pick up the next day!!
Very good food and customer service
My stomach was bigger then my eyes! The pancake was almost bigger then the plate. So much deliciousness! And the connon bunn was perfect..very small so a wait might happen but worth it!
Being a NYer who moved away to the south coming up to a good diner is something I cherish. The atmosphere is charming. It has that homey diner feel. Staff is wonderful and adorable. Give them RAISES! Thank you for warm meals that was much needed. Would come again 😁
Can we give them 6 stars? Amazing old school diner with the friendliest people on the planet. The ladies who served us have a fantastic sense of humor and you can tell all the customers are regulars. Get there early because the seating is limited. We sat at the counter and really enjoyed talking to Terry and Dave about hockey and football. Terry and Dave, if you read this review, we can’t wait to return and sit next to you again at the counter. God bless you both and thank you for your service to the country.
I was in town visiting, happened to stumble across this joint on a Sunday morning. Food was amazing! Our waitress was funny and delightful. It's a classic diner.
The food was really good for such a tiny place! My husband and I both had burgers, which were delicious. And then I splurged on the banana pie. Several days later I'm still wishing I had gotten a second piece to go! Bathroom and restaurant were clean, and it had a very local feel. Definitely recommend for a good lunch!
I got the steak and eggs and it wasn't perfect but its because I asked for well done, when i should have asked for medium Well. It is a tiny place but I love the feeling of it. It was jammed packed on a Sunday morning but we still got good service and food came out at a decent time considering there were many others in front of us. We will be going back.
I’m a self-described diner snob and lemme tell ya, this is PERFECT. The food was delicious, service top notch and great prices. A full, 3 meat, 2 egg breakfast for $11?!? Every time thru town, this is a must-stop for me.
Great service in a classic diner. My roast beef club sandwich was perfect: fresh ingredients and the bacon served warm.
We absolutely love Mary and Donna. Everyone is amazing. Kids love going.
My husband thoroughly enjoyed the Auburn Big Breakfast. The waitress recommended the Avocado Bowl saying it is one of the best sellers. It is one of the best breakfast bowls I have ever eaten.
Great food and very friendly staff. The place was busy and one cook and one waitress (because of corona) took care of everyone. We waited a little longer than usual for our fish dinners but it was definitely worth the wait. They were delicious! Also, the coconut cream pie was great
Love a traditional diner with counter seats and a waitress that doesn't take any slack from regulars and the chef reminds you of Mel's diner. 5 stars, will be back.
I'm a big guy, the portions did not leave me wanting. Food was nicely prepared, waitresses were attentive and coffee was kept hot and full. Nice atmosphere, friendly folks. Plenty of parking, and outside tables. I'll be back !
It was Sunday morning chaos, and we loved it. The place was packed. People were waiting inside and outside at BOTH entrances. The phone kept ringing with requests for takeout orders (one hour wait?). The kitchen was running behind, and that certainly cost them some business that morning. But the staff kept hustling — and smiling! We watched it all from the two counter seats by the front entrance register. It was a blast!
Great diner, waitresses all friendly and efficient. Food always served hot and in a timely fashion. It's usually busy but you never wait long.
A classic diner in appearance, menu, service and atmosphere. Crisp bacon, perfect eggs, toast. & Busy, busy, busy! You know how you feel invisible or ignored at some busy places? Not here! Friendly greetings from several staff members, acknowledging our presence and keeping contact until we were seated. Coffee came quickly. Staff and other guests were friendly and happy. Been there three times now and it’s going to be a regular meeting spot for friends from Syracuse, Oswego and Ithaca. Thanks, Auburn Diner, for creating such a nice place to meet & eat!
We had a very delicious breakfast there. Very best coffee ever.
I can't say enough how welcoming and awesome this experience was. It was like going home after a long work week to a hot meal and family to come home to. Thank you Mary and the rest of the staff for making our 1st visit to your diner such a treat. The food was perfect,, the staff 110%, and it made our day a little better just by being with you guys.. We will be coming back here every time we're in the area ❤
Definitely worth it! Food so delicious! Very nice waitresses! Me n my daughter went for the first time n we definitely wanna go again... Small sometimes long wait but most honestly worth it! Better than half places out here. Prices reasonable!
Great retro diner, delicious food, attentive service. You should go there! Restored from 1994 fire, historical article posted inside. Turkey Rueben on marble rye very tasty. Fried chicken with sweet potato fries and broccoli was done to perfection. Free parking lot. Offers Breakfast, lunch and dinner, closes by 8pm.
If you love diners this is a must stop. Sit at the stools for the full experience. Good food, good specials and great service.
Not a rail road diner car. Not one of those all stainless diners. This made us feel like a true diner experience that is truly loved by the locals. We arrived right before 2 pm on a Thursday. There were many regulars, the couples took booths and the single folk sat at the bar. They all seemed to know each other, almost like a family gathering. The waitresses were fantastic. We wish we found this diner before and we will go back.
The outside and inside were very clean and welcoming. The landscaping was very well done too! I had some of the best scrambled eggs I’ve ever had and ordered a second helping because they were that good. The service was excellent. Everyone was very friendly. The service was also fast and we never felt rushed. The prices were great as well.
It's where I go on a norm for breakfast, the staff are like family just more entertaining.
Great diner with excellent diner food. If you like diners, this is a classic railroad car set-up. Long and narrow with booths along the window side of the diner and plenty of seats at the counter. The service was excellent. Our waitress was friendly and kept checking to see how we liked our meals. If you like diners, I highly recommend it. Great coffee, too, with endless refills.
Delicious food, cheap prices, and a very friendly staff. We very quickly became regulars
This place is fantastic. Always busy, but always room at the counter. Great classic American fare for a good price. I have breakfast and lunch here every day I'm in town for work. Eating out all week can be a bit much and I like that I can get something small/light here, like a breakfast sandwich, or a sandwich and chips.
The Food Was Very Delicious And The Wait Staff Were Very Professional And Polite…..
Good food and wonderful, friendly, home town atmosphere!!!!
We loved it, we went twice during our stay in Auburn
Love this place. Good food and service even when busy.
Me and my son went for breakfast and we had plenty of food the atmosphere was great and the service was excellent we will be returning thanks to the friendly staff and the service we received
If you're ever in the area, try this place! Especially in the mornings! Our waitress Mary is "AWESOME "! There is a time limit on your table after eating too, try not to stay long, as the place gets very busy and people are waiting standing for a table. My favorite is the avocado bowl. The bowl is huge and well worth it!
This retro diner is easy on the wallet/purce and heavy on your stomach. Great friendly service, delicious food and top notch service. It's an experience and an absolute delight to have a great meal at the Auburn Diner. Enjoy!
Great place to eat. First time there and the workers were right on the ball and very friendly even with a full house. The food was very fresh and hot.
A cute little dinner. Worth the wait to be seated, the food was delicious. Friendly servers, fast service. Great prices, large portions.
Great experience. Saturday morning and it was packed! We wait 10 mins to get seated. Got coffee n water almost immediately. We ordered the Philly omelette. It came in less than a minutes! Home fries were delish, toast thick. My hubs n I split it. Plenty for two. The omlette was just meh... had almost no flavor but overall a great experience with excellent staff and service. Its typical diner food of bland but a great overall experience.
Today I went to the Auburn Diner while I was in town for work, and I can honestly say the food was a 10 out of 10! The service was absolutely amazing. This was my first time visiting this establishment, and I’ll definitely be back. The breakfast sandwich was made to perfection, and the home fries were something to rave about! Even getting the food To Go I was greatly amazed!!! THANK YOU!!!
This is a very busy Diner and rightly so as the food is very good. Being such, it is reasonable that during peak times you may have to wait to get a table and service may be slower than you would like. But it's worth it as the wait staff are super nice, almost like family, knowing the regular's and joking with them. Great place!
So glad we went to the Auburn Diner. Everything you want for in this type of eatery. Good menu, excellent food, fantastic service. We enjoyed omletes as our choice of meal. My wife said the hash browns were the best she's ever had. The chocolate milkshake was a hit as well. Chocolate milkshake with breakfast? Yeah, why not live a little! Thanks Auburn Diner for a great start to our day!
The food here is excellent, well cooked, and served quickly with marked courtesy. The decor is tasteful, classic, and a memorable example of Americana done right. The bathrooms are clean, the lighting is excellent. One may have to wait for a table; it is worth a short wait and the food is so good that one can understand waiting due to a restaurant's popularity. Every dish I remember eating here over the past years has been consistently well cooked and tasty. I do not remember one negative experience with the waitresses. Bravo! :-)
The hidden gem of Auburn! Stopped in last week with my family which turned out to be a pleasant surprise. The staff made me feel like family even though it was my first time visiting…wow! The overall staff are wonderful in all categories. On top of the excellent service, the food was just great!! Tried the hot Turkey and loved it. Fries were tasty too. Menu has a variety of options I look forward to trying again soon! Highly recommend stopping here, you won’t regret it 🙏
I'm excited to share my experience at the Auburn Diner. This place is an old-school destination that's been serving up familiar American grub for years, and let me tell you, it does not disappoint! One of the highlights of my visit was definitely the all-day breakfast menu. If you're a breakfast lover like me, you'll be in heaven here. I opted for the Big American Breakfast, and let me just say, it lived up to its name. The plate was piled high with fluffy pancakes, ham, crispy bacon, savory sausage links and home fries. And let's not forget about the buttery toast that was the perfect vehicle for soaking up all that delicious yolk from the poached eggs. Yum! But what really sets this place apart is the cozy setup. From the moment I walked in, I felt like I was transported back in time to a simpler era. This is a local favorite, packed with people. The nostalgic vibe and the friendly staff make you feel right at home. Auburn Diner is perfect for anyone looking for a hearty, delicious breakfast in a charming setting. You won't be disappointed!
I’m sitting here now on my second visit. I typically only rate exceptionally good and exceptionally bad service on here. This place would score ten stars if I could give it to them. The service is incredible, the staff are friendly, the food is some of the best diner food I’ve had, and they seem to have a good, older crowd of people patronizing them. It’s the epitome of a diner. I’ll be coming here every time I visit Auburn. One more thing - the food comes out almost immediately no matter how busy they are and the prices resemble a good economy even though we don’t have that luxury at this time. This place is a small slice of heaven.
This old timey diner serves up standard diner fare, but the experience is like traveling in the Way Back Machine. I ordered the filled pumpkin pancakes, which turned out to be far too rich for my old-time body. The regular pumpkin pancakes would have been a better choice. The scrambled egg was acceptable (scrambled a bit too hard and probably with a spatula on the grill). Good enough coffee, but that’s not why you come. My waitress was terrific, and I grooved on the classic atmosphere. Very reasonable prices. Popular with the locals.
The wait staff & hostess are the BEST! Very friendly & makes you feel like family. Food is yummy, too. Daily specials are always tasty. Our go-to place for breakfast or lunch. Will be yours too, after you go!
Wish I'd gotten to this diner sooner in my life. It's a small space but really well used. The staff was super friendly and the food was quickly prepared and delicious. My only wish is that the goulash had a little more sauce. But that's all personal preference and nothing against the cooks or diner. Love it. for sure will be back.
Went for breakfast at this diner and the breakfast was very good. Hot fresh coffee served. Only negative was the negativity being thrown around behind the counter/bar. Overheard plenty of that as we ate and had one employee snap at us when we entered that we had to give our name as we waited. Felt bad for the young lady who was new as a server. Other than the negative attitudes and comments not wanting to work food was excellent.
This is everything you want in a classic diner and more! From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted like family—the staff knows the locals by name and makes everyone feel welcome with a warm “Hi and welcome.” It’s that kind of personal touch that makes this place so special. The service is top-notch: friendly, fast, and attentive. The food? Always hot, fresh, and exactly what you ordered—comfort food done right. You can tell the kitchen takes pride in every plate they serve. There’s a real sense of community here, and it’s the kind of place that keeps you coming back. Whether you’re a regular or just passing through, you’ll leave with a full stomach and a smile. A true local gem—highly recommend!
The food is a bit pricey and the staff are a bit of a mixed bag in attitude, but it's exactly the type of food you'd want from a small, NY diner.
This was my first time visiting an old-timey diner like this, what a unique experience. Food was good, though it was thrown onto the plate with not much care, and the bread that I ordered was pretty burnt. The staff were very polite, talkative and understanding, and the atmosphere was bustling and packed. If you're the type that can't handle noisy environments where you can hear everyone else's conversations, you may want to avoid this place. Other than that, I'd say I had a good time, will probably stop by again to try their other dishes!
Good food decent prices....went here again today it's been two years since I've been here. They have ample parking. I ordered the crispy chicken bacon ranch wrap. My friends ordered the Rodeo burger and two eggs over medium with bacon, home fries and toast. Everything was pretty good. However the order with eggs came out later than the rest of the order. The eggs were cold & over easy and the bacon wasn't cooked all the way. Other than that everything was ok. The prices are very reasonable here as well. We told the waitress about the eggs and bacon. She offered to bring new ones however we declined. Overall I recommend checking them out. They usually are really busy and you have a wait time.
It was okay. It’s awkwardly crowded in there. The staff was nice enough but not my cup of tea. The food was okay but nothing special. They did not have gluten free toast but I did get a Gf waffle. I am not a huge pancake or waffle fan, I wouldn’t order this one again. This is not a place I’d return but I can see if you live close by why you might go there. Watch your step at the door. It’s a big drop if you forget about it when leaving.
I was looking for a quick diner breakfast and this place popped up on my search so I made my way here. The place is small and the parking lot was packed. It was only me so I told the hostess the bar was fine if one came available. The waitress was quick to bring me coffee and take my order. I got one of the breakfast specials. Scrambled eggs, sausage, and has browns with toast. The eggs were definitely scrambled on the flat top because it was a tie dye mix of white and yellow. Not cool. You're not that busy to grab a bowl or have some pre scrambled. And the toast had the bare minimum amount of butter. It was like they took the tip of the knife on the edge and put a 3mm dab of it on there. Do I expect more from diners, probably.
Incredibly professional and friendly staff! Made us feel at home even though we are not regulars. Regulars were also friendly - this made the atmosphere nice. Food unfortunately was sub par, hence the two stars.
My girlfriend and I stopped here Sunday morning it was extremely busy we ended up just sitting at the counter I ordered the Auburn breakfast and she got the Triple Two food was undercooked we both got scrambled and they were still wet and drippy pancakes weren't really Brown either more tan in the home fries were not cooked all the way through but the people were really nice maybe on a different day we would have had a better experience food wise
The service was great. My issue was the way the staff spoke about each other. Two waitresses were opening talking poorly/making fun of a hostess in front of everyone. It was to the point where it was extremely uncomfortable to hear the way they were speaking about her. I felt very bad for her and I hope this is not a normal environment. The food was great and my tables service itself was great. I hope next time my family and I come, we don’t have to hear employees bullying each other.
Tried to dine here twice and were forced to go elsewhere due to long wait time to get a seat. Good or bad, we probably won't try again.
Don’t go there with a wheelchair! The waitress acted like we were a big inconvenience. She said we ‘could’ wait if we wanted to but there is only one table that can accept a wheelchair. It would be about 20 minutes till that table opened up and there were 5 people ahead of us so she would have to give it to them so it could be another 45 minute wait after that. Just didn’t feel welcome at all.
Very poor service, after myself being a waitress for 9 years I can’t believe how rude and petty these women are. After not liking my waffle due to it being undercooked and raw after waiting about 45 minutes and I only took 2 bites. Not only did they still charge me they slammed down my check. We will not be back, so sad I really wanted to try and like our local diner.
I came here last year and my food was good. My mom's food on the other hand and was not good. Her french toast tasted like onions and our bacon was barley cooked. Also sadly one of waitresses at the time I was there was getting treated really badly by the customer. He was being sexist. I was trying to be nice to the women because the other women didn't even bother to care. Then the other women that was working at the time seemed really jealous and ignored us the entire time. Possibly might come back might not. Didn't feel welcomed. :(
I don’t typically like to leave negative reviews. But being in the food business and being mistreated I had to speak up. I came to the diner on Sunday with my family and some friends.. We were a party of 15 people. So, my sister ordered a cheese and mushroom omelette. The mushrooms were spoiled, and we asked the waitress to take the item back.. And upon receiving the check at the end of breakfast we noticed the omelette was still on the bill. We politely asked the waitress if she can remove it from the bill since we did not eat the omelette.. She proceeded to tell us that the manager or the owner would not remove it from the bill. As an owner of four eateries I completely disagree with the owners decision to make us pay for an omelette. It’s not about the money it’s about the principle and it’s about the fact that someone can get severely sick by eating bad mushrooms. Moving forward I believe Management at this diner should reconsider the way they treat situation’s. Sometimes it makes sense to lose a few dollars but to gain the loyalty and trust of a customer. Just some food for thought.
Ordered pancakes kinds had that bacon taste with susage, I was shocked when I got the susage 1 patty about maybe 1/8 inch thick 3 inches about in diameter for $4.29, holly crap for one piece of susage. Man breakfast is becoming almost expensive as a dinner.
In the area for a wedding, first time visiting was a good experience. 2nd time I gave my name to one of the older servers she told me 15 minutes wait that she will get me. I saw a party of 3 come in 2 older guys and a woman, one of the guys told his buddy let's go to the other entrance I come here all the time, because he saw us and other people waiting. So I walk in, the waitress that told me to wait for a table was cleaning a table that just left. She gave it to them, I said something. Her reply with attitude was...they got here before you, I told her that's not true, they just drove in and since you guys know him skip other paying customers. Not acceptable, horrible customer experience and service.
