We had the filet which was very tender & chicken piccatta was delightful. Tyler & Dana are both wonderful & professional servers!! can't wait to come back!!!

I was visiting from out of town to see family and we came to eat at The Cabin. It was still decorated from Christmas (until Valentine’s Day). We sat in the bar area near the fireplace. It was beautiful. Roxanne was our waitress and very friendly and helpful. We got chicken pasta alfredo with spinach and it was delicious. The wedge salad was our appetizer. The head cook, Gary, came to our table to see how everything was. That was a nice touch. Crème Brûlée for dessert. YUM. Will definitely go back!!

This was our 6th time here since Dec. 2021 and it was just as spectacular as ever. We have been 5x for the holidays and once in the summer and we've never had a bad meal. We sat in the bar area last night, as requested, and it was so beautiful. We had the salmon and the prime rib special and they were both really good. No complaints. You cannot beat the ambiance and the live piano player at this time of year. Just GO!!!

I absolutely loved this place. Had dinner with someone truLy special and we both loved the food. She had the salmon and I had the ravioli of the daY and both were expertly made. We also thought the service was exceptional. We Can't wait to return. Also, you have to try the angel dessert. It is life changing.

Had a great time! Went with a group of girls for our friends “bachelorette” party, after their spa day. It’s so nice on the inside and the patio is beautiful! The lunch menu is very small but I guess maybe there isn’t a huge lunch crowd? Either way my food was very good! I had the muscles appetizer and a glass of reisling. The server was an older and I could tell she was getting flustered with us. But we were a good group!!

Just had a weekend at Marios international spa and we had dinner and lunch here, the food was fantastic. My wife and I had the Delmonico steak and they were prepared masterfully! Wine options were great, I had the black blend and it was amazing. The fully stocked bar did not disappoint! I've attached a photo of the menu however it seems to change from time to time.

I recently had lunch with a friend at the Cabin. The ambiance is simply enchanting, adorned with winter holiday decorations. The food was made to perfection , and the service was excellent. I will definitely be returning and highly recommend it.

Food was great and the staff and atmosphere were wonderful. I went for a Christmas party for work (12 people) our waitress was super sweet and wonderful. I stayed with a few coworkers after and the staff were super sweet about us staying well after people had left. Although food prices are high, I'd definitely go back again. It was a wonderful experience.

Only our second time here- stopped for lunch. The whole experience was fantastic. Our waitress, Janet, was simply amazing. Gave Great suggestions, answered our questions and engaged in conversation. She made us feel very welcome. I believe she was also the bartender- martini was spot on. Crab cake and shrimp appetizers were perfect. It’s sometimes difficult to get great service and a delicious meal; Mario’s has figured it out.

What a charming place I stumbled upon when looking for a lunch spot. The atmosphere is darling with beautiful white lights EVERYWHERE and woodland creature themes. Lots to look at! Gorgeous outdoor seating area and a fantastic menu. Everything was delicious. Moreover, our server, Joe, was extremely attentive and personable. Highly recommend.

We had a lovely dinner at The Cabin. Food (thank you chefs) and service (thank you Joe), were outstanding. The atmosphere is just remarkable, cozy, candlelit - breathtaking. The bar area is always exceptionally decorated at Christmas time and into January and February, but the rest of the restaurant is now filled with twinkle lights, beautiful decorations, and a crackling fir in the fireplace as well. I can't understand how this restaurant is not completely booked from Nov thru Feb. I didn't want to leave. Summertime offers a gorgeous stone patio with a waterfall. The Cabin is one special, romantic spot to dine!

My aunts and I came for lunch the Saturday after Christmas, and had a wonderful experience. Joe was our server, he was above and beyond excellent and kind, my aunts are two picky women, and they were very satisfied, as was I with the chicken piccata. Looking forward to visiting next Christmas Season.

This review is specifically to recognize William. I didn’t have him as a server but he welcomed me upon entering the restaurant and was very helpful to me. His actions were a true representation of what you’d hope for in humanity, especially during the holiday season. Thank you William, I truly appreciate your kindness. The restaurant was decorated beautifully as well.

We came here for a girls night and to enjoy the holiday décor! We were so excited to visit and check it out since there is little information about it online. I would suggest to post your menu somewhere online, because there is nothing to find. The food was really good, I got the scallops which were a special and they were delicious! My biggest complaint was our server. She was rude, and at one point of our experience she actually made fun of me. She was explaining the specials, and I tend to nod when people are talking to me, I think it's a habit to show that I am listening, and she said, "oh it looks like she can tell you about the specials since she is acting like she knows everything." It really threw me off because it was such an odd statement. When she gave us the check she didn't ask if we wanted dessert or anything she just brought it to us on one check and one of us wanted dessert so we had to ask, and then we asked her to split the check and she acted like it was the end of the world. For the pricing here, I would expect good service. I was genuinely appalled. She didn't ruin our experience though as the décor was amazing, the food was delicious, and we had a great girls night.

The restaurant has a nice rustic feel to and the staff is very accommodating. Food was alright, nothing exceptional.

Good food, good service, piano music and an interesting Christmas cabin feel. Nice patio. The meatball appetizer was delicious. It was a little pricey but it was made with 3 types of meat, tender and tasty. I rarely find good meatballs and I can’t say enough about how good this one was. The chicken parmigiana was delicious and had a nice, thick sauce topped with Parmesan. Based on my experience, I will return.

C

My chicken piccata with excellent, however my friend's chicken sandwich was not! The chicken was burned, dry, tasteless, and the bun was hard.

We come for the atmosphere at Christmas time. Small menu. Received two, small pieces of bread at paid $12 for a SIDE salad…when you are paying $30 for lobster ravioli which is pricey compared to other restaurants. Our male server was attentive but not friendly. Place was not busy at 3, every table there was sat next to each other, you could hear everyone’s conversation. Would be nice to see a new, revised menu if we visit again.

Really mixed on this place. We had lunch there on a Monday -- cocktail was very good, bread and soup very good. Pizza was nothing special, was called a Margharita pizza but was a basic cheese pizza, pasta was mostly ok but the "grilled" chicken was definitely not grilled and tasted bland/reheated. Vibe was great. Not sure if we will go back.

Restaurant decorated for December holidays and was over-the-top! GREAT DECOR and Cozy! Unfortunately, can't say the same about the food. Way over priced for a small crock of soup (not a bowl). Wedding soup tasted like French onion meets tiny meatballs. I ate it but not any version of wedding soup I am familiar with, and $16...was expecting a big bowl of soup. Ordered lollipop lambchops from the starter menu, which were tender and tasted good, but I have had exceptional ones at other restaurants. We stayed seated and in conversation long after our meal and nobody was clearing our plates until we were about to leave. Drinks were good! My expectations for the food did not match the high prices paid.

My husband and I went here today for lunch for the first time. The decorations are absolutely beautiful but everything else was such a poor experience. There were 2 other tables in the restaurant yet we hardly ever saw our waitress. We were never brought any bread (we only know you were served this because people near us had some) and it took the waitress 20 minutes to come take our order. After our food was brought to us, we never saw our waitress again. No one came to see how our meal was, if we needed anything else. We had to have another waitress bring us waters, my husband was going to order another drink but because no one came to check on us or ask we did not. My salad was extremely overpriced for a simple house salad, the piccata was very salty. I hate to leave a poor review on a local restaurant but the service and quality was very poor for our first experience. $100 for lunch seemed extreme for the service and taste.

We had reservations at 6pm and didn’t get our food until 8pm. They were completely out of both steak options and several other dishes. Once we did get our food the portions were small and it tasted ‘fine’ nothing special but for the price I was expecting something amazing. The place is beautifully decorated for the holidays but I wouldn’t waste your time or money here. Overpriced and overrated.

Howard Strowder

My wife and I dined on a early afternoon Sunday in December. The rustic restaurant is beyond charming, the Christmas decor beautiful, but the food was mid at best... and it was expensive! While our sever was nice and welcoming, he was obviously overextended - service was slightly better than poor. I give my visit a 9/10 for ambiance, 4/10 for service, a 1.5/10 for both food and value. While I love the charm, I didn't care for our meal.

Normally this is one of my favorites. Made reservations in October to be sure and visit during the holiday season. Waited a while at front counter to be seated. Was disappointed to be put in the back overflow room, which I had never been in before. Our reservation was at 6:45 and we received our dinners at 8:45. Tables around us were having management visit because of similar experience. I got the salmon and it was so overdone I thought they gave me the wrong dinner and had mistakenly given me chicken breast.

Beautifully decorated for the holidays and service was very attentive. The problem was the food. I ordered a shrimp penne pasta at $27. The dish had 4 average sized shrimp which still had the tails attached and vein not removed. The sauce was good the quantity of pasta so-so. No side salad, rolls when we sat down. The rest of our party had chicken dishes which were good but comparatively small again for the price and no sides. You had to spend $80 on a steak to get a side dish.

I hadn’t been to Mario’s Cabin for dinner, for almost 2 years, & at that time, sat at a table with ten friends, for a truly enjoyable evening so, I was looking forward to going back last night with three friends, to celebrate a birthday. Unfortunately, our experience was a disappointment. Since it was a Monday night, there were only a few other diners so it was not a busy evening. Before I mention our experience, I will say, that it was decorated beautifully for Halloween & Fall. One of my friends & I split a Spinach Salad, which was $16, & they up charged us $2.00 for the split. This $8/9.00 salad was a meager portion, & wouldn’t even have been worth $16 if it wasn’t shared. It took over an hour for dinner to be served, once our orders were placed. I had Shrimp Ala Vodka, which I could have made at home! There was nothing special about its presentation or flavor. Another friend had Chicken Piccata, which looked delicious but I was told that it was “not that great”. Another friend had one of the pasta specials, with chicken & shrimp, which she said was good. Regarding drinks…I was fine with my choice of Pinot Grigio but I was told by one of my friends that her Vodka & Soda was “very weak”, so for her second drink, she ordered a double, & was charged $27.00. Even though we told our server we were celebrating a birthday, no offer was made to bring a small dessert w/ a candle. (Recently, I was at The Burntwood Tavern in Solon, celebrating another friend’s birthday, & our server brought a dessert w/ a candle to the table at no charge.) Maybe it was just an off night for Mario’s Cabin? I will try it again, not on a Monday, to see if it’s any better.

Although the atmosphere at the restaurant was very joyful with all the Christmas decorations, the experience itself was not joyful. We called ahead to let them know we were stuck in traffic and would be late for our reservation but when we arrived they had given our table away any way. We were put at a table that sat 3 (there were 4 of us), the server was putting the glasses down and accidentally broke one and it flew all over one of my friends. Although they did sweep the floor around the table, they did not wipe off the table or offer to move us to another spot. The service was slow and the price you paid for a meal that was subpar at best was ridiculous. It took over an hour to get that food and the restaurant was pretty empty. By the way if you get a sandwich or burger don't expect more than 4 French fries to be included.

UPDATE - we went back again this year,.. apparently now if you make a reservation for a party of 7 or more they put you in a room on the other side of the hotel which has many issues; 1. It is not decorated as nicely as the rest of the restaurant, and 2. Because it is on the other side of the hotel, the service is even worse because the server literally has to walk back and forth all night which when serving 11 people means that it can and did take 15 minutes for everyone to get their main course. Again, set your expectations low and you won't be disappointed. The food was good, but the service,... it took 50+ minutes just to get appetizers and another 40 minutes to get our main courses. I understand and can appreciate being understaffed in these times, but close a section of the restaurant and don't make the 2 waitresses and manager cover the entire restaurant. So if you have 2+ hours for a fantastic meal and beautiful Christmas decorations in Aurora, this is your spot, but if you want a good meal in a reasonable amount of time I would suggest going to one of the 3 restaurants across the street.

Gross...we made reservations for breakfast (the person taking the reservation was rude on the phone. That should have tipped us off). We had to wait a long time for our food which we chose from a very limited menu. They were out of sausage and waffles. No pancakes on the menu. Four guests ordered french toast which came out cold and burned. One guest ordered scrambled eggs with their avocado toast and got over easy. The poached egg on the eggs Benedict was hard. Two guests ordered omelets. One came out completely overcooked. The other came out ten minutes after the rest of us got their food and it was runny inside. All of the sides were cold. Two of the guests were supposed to get fruit cups with their meal which the server forgot. When they got the fruit cups, the berries were moldy. Several of the guests in our party got sick. The cabin itself was beautifully decorated. The server tried to make it right and comped several of our meals. But to have such a limited menu (at a higher price point) you'd think they'd have it down. How hard is it to cook a good breakfast??

Food was mid. My burger was cold and they didn’t follow other customer’s requests. Would not recommend, but would recommend Kitchen Social’s Street Corn Nachos.

We arrived on Thanksgiving left standing for a prolonged period of time before we were seated. We were placed at a table in the very back in a corner despite multiple tables being open. We were then told the server would return to place drink orders, unfortunately they never came. We decided at this point to go to the buffet. The food was bland and definitely not worth $60 per person. I would’ve added seasonings if the waitress would’ve come around to ask for salt and pepper. We received one drink and never asked if we would like a refill. The positive feedback was the ambience and the waitress was sweet for the limited time we saw her.

Took my son and his family for dinner. Atmosphere and service were really exceptional. Food was very expensive, frozen tasteless broccoli, cold entrees . Special was RACK of lamb that consisted of 3 bones going for $54 dollars. Took forever to get entrees. Wrote a personal note to. the manager/ owners . No one ever replied. So sorry but i am posting this.

My two friends and I decided to enjoy a visit to the Cabin for the holidays, beautiful to look at. We were seated in the bar at a corner table and had our monthly fun. The food was fine, but all of the sudden they asked us to leave… told us this table was reserved for another party of 3!! Meanwhile the place was empty, there were tables everywhere they could have seated others. It was very rude, the manager on duty was rude and wouldn’t do anything to help us, we have never been so insulted in our life, the Cabin has just lost 3 more families from their business!

Gina C

I recently visited the Cabin and had a very distasteful experience. My food was consistently undercooked and had to be sent back several times. Once retuned the side dishes were served ice cold. The management team refused to offer compensation for the meal. What made the situation worse was I was subjected to condescending demeanor, as I was publicly questioned about whether I consumed my food, which was cited as the reason for lack of compensation. No customer should feel ridiculed or shamed after patiently waiting an hour and half for their food, all the while their party has finished eating.

Direct Review: Saturday Night dinner for 12… Beverage: Beer selections were very limited, waitress told us that we would have to wait on our beer because they were going to the closet and needed to put on ice to get cold. Food: They ran out of a number of things on the menu, so the selection was very limited. We had people that wanted to order the Delmonico steak, short ribs or Filet which then turned into wedge salads. A few of us ordered the chicken parmesan, there was barely any sauce on the spaghetti and meat. We asked for more sauce and they told us that they ran out of that as well. Consensus on taste of food was very bland across the board. Service: The service was poor!!!

BEWARE of this restaurant! 2 thumbs down. We have been to Mario’s International Cabin Restaurant several times in the past 4 months and, unfortunately, there’s no consistency with the food. First time there in November 2023, we ordered the Caesar salad with hot grilled marinated chicken and it was amazing. My wife and daughter decided to go there for a party of 12 ladies and my wife said the salmon she had was mediocre at best. For Valentines Day we decided to go for the third time for the excellent Caesar salad, but they must have decided that it was too good so they changed it completely. Now it’s served on a dinner plate rather than a bowl, no dressing so it’s basically a plate of romaine lettuce with cold generic chicken on top. Had to request additional dressing that I think came out of a bottle of store bought rather than freshly prepared. Caesar dressing does not contain vinegar! Ordered an appetizer of calamari, which was supposed to be crispy but it was a soggy mess served with mushy grape tomatoes. Sent that mess back and ordered chicken Alfredo, which was much like a Chicken Helper meal from a box. The only thing that was good was the dinner rolls and wine. Oh and did I mention that the server was not friendly and didn’t have time for us. Sad way to spend Valentine’s Day with my wife of 33 years. Asked for the check and waitress never came back to collect payment so I had to find someone else who would take payment from me… I don’t believe in chew and screw! I went to the reception desk and explained my disappointment with everything and they said they would relay my complaint with the owner. If they offer a remedy, will come back with an update to this review. Follow up: No resolution to my complaint and they refused to take anything off the tab. I spent $103 for a bottle of red wine and 3 diner rolls. Turns out they replaced their entire kitchen staff since my initial visit in November 2023. What a shame. I should also mention again that our server said she didn’t have time for us and needed to handle another table order. It WAS a nice place for a relaxing meal with ambience, but now it’s a failure. We won’t ever go back!

Worse Chicken Marseille I ever had. It was so dry no sauce at all. Didn’t even eat it. Drinks good but that was it for $175 crazy!! My husband had chicken piccata it was edible at least.

L

Wow, incredibly disappointed with this place!!! This place markets itself as a high end restaurant and it DOES NOT live up to it. We spend over $350 for dinner and ended up going across the street for hamburgers and beer because the food was so bad. The steaks and short ribs were bland, the staff was friendly but candidly they were not trained well. Don’t fall for the instagram hype of the décor, go somewhere else and save your money.

O
Otto Tyson

Have you ever tried to cut an $80 steak on a $20 table? Holiday decor was next level and the only redeeming part of the dinner. We admired it from the back of a long narrow hallway. Someone needs to breathe life into this place and it’s people, it’s on oxygen.

L
Laura Fuller

A few years ago, I had amazing food here. I took my husband recently on a Friday night. There was one other older couple eating there in the entire place. The food was absolutely awful - pizza and shrimp salad (mostly mayo with no spices). Our brie cheese appetizer was served with cheap crackers, and we had to ask for bread that was supposed to come with it. The mixed drinks were also subpar, and we were over charged on our bill. The decor is outdated with fake birds and flowers, and it likely needs a good dusting. They really need to revamp the entire place. I don't see how they are still in business. Let someone else take over this amazing space.

David Welsh

Two years in a row they have run out of their daily pasta special, this year by 7:00 on a Saturday night. Replacement dish was at best lukewarm and we waited for well over an hour to get our dinners. Will not be coming back again.

Was in for a birthday celebration with family. The place has lovely decor and was very festive in the winter months. Enjoy the highlight of the decor early because the rest of the experience is all downhill. We waited over an hour for our food. We often would not see our waiter for 20-30 minute stretches. Mediocre is a generous word for the quality of the food. Ordered the lamb chops and lobster bisque. No discernible chunks of lobster in a hilariously small bowl (for $18 no less), overly salty and added too much cayenne to mask what I assume is a bland canned soup. Lamb chops were varying temperatures and aggressively coated in Montreal seasoning. The menu is dated and overpriced and the person cooking it clearly doesn’t care. DO NOT waste your time or money here. Olive Garden would probably give you a better meal and dining experience.

We were excited to try out Mario’s Cabin for our first time. We made reservations 2-weeks prior. - Ordered appetizers- soup was luke warm and crab-cakes were almost burnt on outside and under cooked on inside. - Our main entree order didnt arrive after 1.5 hours of ordering it. Tables that came in after us received their food, which one of their meals is what we ordered. Food never came and we decided left. I believe they overbooked and service and quailty went out the window.

W
Wendy Anderson

Very disappointed with our lunch experience and we were not expecting much based on past experiences. The decor is festive and fun and Alana was an attentive and kind server, but there was zero attention to food quality and several staff seemed annoyed by the customers. The prices for soup would indicate a sizable bowl of hearty soup, but the lobster bisque was extremely thin in a tiny crock and the wedding soup ($16 I think?) was a lukewarm cup of weak broth with carrots and onions and one mini meatball. The BLT was cold with soggy bread. The burger got good reviews. It was almost comically bad, but we were determined to enjoy ourselves anyway. My 85 year old Dad said it best, "That was a cluster!"

R
Ramona Hadley

Our neighbors kept raving about this restaurant and insisted we try it. We were skeptical after reading the reviews, but they offered to take us out so we went. To say this was a terrible experience would be an understatement. The decor, while festive, looked old and dusty and my allergies confirmed. The service was earnest, but our server definitely needed better training. The food, in a nutshell, was awful. I can honestly say not one dish was good. Frankly, they should be ashamed to charge so much for mediocre food. And, to boot, we waited a long time to get it. On the whole, we’re still trying to understand our neighbors’ enthusiasm for this restaurant. From what we can discern, it appears nostalgia takes precedence over reality because the food is dreadful. Also, we are still mad we ended up paying for this overpriced and forgettable experience, as our neighbors decided to split the bill although they were the ones who invited us. Needless to say, we won’t be going back.
