Opinions de Gusto Italian Kitchen Austin
I had dinner here 06/10 and everything was amazing! Hands down the best frites and espresso martini I have ever had! For pasta we really enjoyed the Allá Crema, it was so rich in flavor! Our server was Amy and she was the sweetest and most detailed server I have ever had at an Italian restaurant, especially here in Austin. I recommend this restaurant as it’s been 3 days and I still cannot stop thinking about it! Oh, and don’t forget to try their take on tiramisu, it was fabulous as well. (p.s the only thing I would add to make this place better is to add some jazz or ambiance music)
We stopped in for happy hour and sat on the really nice patio. We had a couple cocktails, they have some very nice classic Italian inspired cocktails that are delicious we highly recommend. They also have a really decent wine list, Had a couple glasses of red. We munched on Focaccia bread with warm olives and roasted garlic pushed into the bread it was pretty good, We will definitely be back for dinner. Taking a break late in the day for a hsppy hour with someone you love, someone you like to be with, someone you care about just makes that 1 day a little more special. I appreciate those moments my love.
When visiting Austin Texas please make sure that you visit this beautiful Little Italian restaurant. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was fresh and modern, and the staff/management was super friendly and helpful when it came to ordering from the menu. I will definitely be returning an I highly recommend everyone else do the same.
Such an amazing restaurant with great wine selection and excellent service. I was really impressed with the menu that has much to offer and I will say the pizza is off the charts but that's not what I come there for. Many culinary specialties and you will be impressed with everything on on the menu. The service is top notch and the staff is very professional. I was also impressed with how the staff opened the door for me and my wife while we were carrying out our to go order for the kids when we left. You won't be disappointed!
Great pizza, they are 50% off on Tuesday night. We also enjoyed their dessert. My picky eater kid liked the white sauce pasta from the kids menu.
Lovely spot. I liked the water carafe per table, and the flame was real. Laid back atmosphere-some larger tables, some smaller ones, and was lively but not too loud (I was able to read). The focaccia was fluffy and lightly flavored, Brussel sprouts flavorful, crunchy, and had a touch of salt. Tiramisu was unconventional, but I liked it. Rachel was lovely server-very nice, knowledgeable of the menu, and had great timing. They had a small bar, high top I believe, and a mix of tables and booths. Outdoor seating as well on the patio.
I had a great dinner at Gusto Italian Kitchen + Wine Bar — their hand-formed pasta and scratch desserts really shine, and the focaccia bread they serve as a starter is dangerously good. The Mussels and Charcuterie board we shared were well-executed and paired nicely with their wine selections. The atmosphere is warm and intimate (neighborhood trattoria vibe), and the staff were attentive without being overbearing. Everything felt thoughtful — from the wine recommendations to plating. It’s the kind of spot I’d bring someone for a relaxing, quality Italian dinner.
We had a pizza, it was delicious, and service was great. We didn't have a reservation and ate at the bar. Update: Came a 2nd time and tried a few other dishes. I would come back for the pizza. Very good service again. We had a reservation for the patio by accident and they moved us inside by request.
Gusto Crew is amazing. I did a reservation and asked for them to leave a single flower and a note on the table for my wife before we got there. They did not disappoint. Pizza is delicious, the staff extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Overall just great place to take your Lady for dinner. They started our date night off just right! Thank you Gusto, and thank you to the server/Waiter that went out of his way to snag a flower from central market and write the note for my wife. You’re the greatest Glue Guy out here!
We recently hosted an exclusive event at Gusto Italian Kitchen & Wine Bar, and it was an absolute delight from start to finish. A huge thank-you to Amber, the manager, whose attention to detail and warm hospitality made the evening truly special. The appetizer spread was both beautiful and delicious, offering the perfect mix of flavors to please every palate. Guests especially loved the Venetian spritz—refreshing, light, and absolutely perfect for a hot Austin day! From the first welcome to the final goodbye, the servers were incredibly attentive, ensuring that every guest felt well cared for throughout the night. If you're looking for a venue that combines excellent service, a welcoming atmosphere, and unforgettable food and drinks, Gusto is it. Thank you, Amber and team, for helping us create such a memorable evening!
Outstanding Experience We recently visited Gusto Italian Kitchen & Wine Bar in Austin to celebrate my daughter’s birthday, and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. We made a reservation about a week in advance and were pleasantly surprised to be seated in a private booth with curtains, complete with a thoughtful “Happy Birthday” sign. As an extra special touch, they even brought my daughter a complimentary glass of prosecco before we ordered—a detail that truly set the tone for the evening. The food was excellent across the board. For appetizers, we had calamari and brussels sprouts. The calamari was among the best I’ve had—perfectly crispy and well-seasoned. The brussels sprouts were flavorful, though slightly overcooked, but still delicious. For entrées, we ordered the alla crema pasta, speck and pear pizza, and spinach lasagna with Bolognese. Each dish was outstanding, with rich flavors and high-quality ingredients. Service was top-notch—attentive, friendly, and professional. The ambiance was warm and inviting, and having the private booth made the experience even more enjoyable. The only minor downside was the parking situation, which is always a challenge around Austin restaurants, but the food and service more than made up for it. Our total bill was around $250—pricey, but well worth it for the quality of the experience. Overall, Gusto Italian Kitchen & Wine Bar exceeded our expectations, and I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a great Italian dining experience in Austin. We will definitely be back!
Wonderful lunch with family. The wait staff was very attentive but not pushy. They were able to answer all questions about the menu, service was quick and everyone was perfectly friendly. Drinks were quick and very good. Then the food....AMAZING! Portions were generous but not overly so. Highly Recommended!
Gusto Italian gave me and my wife an incredible experience on our 1st year anniversary dinner. They made a little sign for our table congratulating us on our anniversary and offered us a couple wine tasting glasses. We sat at the patio outside and it was a great vibe and atmosphere. Although there were some bugs, our waitress brought a little fan to keep them away. Our waitress was also excellent and continually checked in on us. The food was amazing, even my picky (sorry, honey) Vietnamese wife loved the taste! At the end, they brought us some complementary glasses of a celebratory sparkling drink to enjoy with our dessert. All in all, we had an amazing time here and would love to come back next time we are in Austin!
Loved the vibe Pricey! Especially the wines. Ambience felt like I was in a restaurant out of Paris Really awesome service - Joanna As good as it gets • . Loved - must order again • Focaccia bread • Shrimp scampi app • Calamari • . • Tiramisu ** Not bad - above average • Artichoke pizza bianco- maybe try a meat one • Spinach lasagna - too much oregano overpowering flavor • . • Afrogato Avoid • Redfish - fishy flavor if you know what I mean • . • Flourless chocolate cake
Great food and staff. Dog friendly patio great for hanging out. Friendly bartender that pours perfectly. Clean bathroom and plenty of parking. Recommend Reservations. They also support the local opera which is how we found them. Lovely. ADA wheelchair accessible. Photos included
After a memorial service, I took a couple of friends to Gusto. Food is excellent when it's the correct order. My friends loved it. However, I ordered rigatoni with Italian sausage & marinara. I received pasta shells in Bolognese with huge pieces of eggplant. (Never have liked eggplant.). Rather than complain, I took it home, where I promptly removed the eggplant, cooked rigatoni, and calmed down the spicy Bolognese with marinara and ricotta cheese. I know. I could have complained. I could have asked for what I ordered. Maybe next time. Other visits I would have rated 5 stars. Guess it was an off day.
The interior is well decorated. AMAZING MEATBALLS!!!, they have a kick of spice. If you've never had the caprese, it's very good. I definitely will come back for that. I had the spinich lasagna with bolognese. Excellent dish 👌.The Margherita pizza is thin, I'm talking like paper thin. Their cheese and sauce are fresh and really good. Highly recommend the tiramisu, though it could use more lady fingers. Lots of wine options are available. The staff were very sweet, but our server lacked energy and did things quickly.
Atmosphere: Upscale, intimate Service: Unassuming and efficient Food: We especially enjoyed the bread and olives, burrito was also quite good. Branzino was well prepared, but we decided that bone-in was not our preference. Flourless torte was also delicious. Pricing: Moderate, note 20% tip is added to the check for all tables
Disappointing food quality especially given the price. Got an assortment of things (pasta, pizza, focaccia, dessert) and it was all mediocre. Easy to find better Italian food. Nice atmosphere though.
Pizza was good. But everything else was subpar in terms of taste, portion, and presentation. This was the pasta that was served to me, fresh from the kitchen. The tiramisu didn’t feel like tiramisu; it felt like lady fingers and ice cream were forcibly served together. Overall, not a good experience if this is the taste, portion, and presentation that we have to pay for.
I am incredibly disappointed. We arrived early for our reservation and waited 10 minutes just to be greeted. After being seated (with one menu and an unlit candle), our server took another 10 minutes to appear. • Our drinks were forgotten until we had to flag our server down. • Our main courses arrived one full hour after our reservation time. No apology or explanation was offered. • Our appetizer was brought out after our main course. • The risotto was genuinely awful; we couldn't finish it. My date preferred Olive Garden instead of coming here, which was mortifying. For this price, the service and quality are unacceptable.
