It’s been a few years since we have been to Hyde Park Bar and Grill, and we have been missing out. The food was far superior to what I remembered from the amazing fries (which were always 5 stars) to the delicious pancakes, great pasta, and juicy burgers. But I think the crowning jewel was how awesome our waiter, Simon, was. My husband downed his drink like a dying man, and Simon refilled it before he could even set it down. And our daughter, who is 5, and always creative in her ordering requests, we given the exact correct meal without any issues despite her requests for a single pancake with bacon only and no eggs. Simon brought us everything we needed and even thought of extras for us, like an extra water with a lid for our little one, and extra plates. The whole experience was refreshingly relaxing and delicious. And as a busy mom, it’s rare for me to go out to lunch and not feel stressed by something. It feels like most places do the bare minimum, get something wrong, or just don’t care, but not Hyde Park Bar & Grill. You get fantastic food and amazing service where you can truly enjoy your meal and time with the company you came to enjoy a meal with.

This was an excellent Sunday afternoon location with availability and comfortable semi private seating areas. The smoked Pork Chop 🥩 was absolutely delicious and perfectly made. The Mahi Mahi Tacos was massive and a long with their signature fries we left feeling happy with leftovers. Drinks were also very well prepared. We will certainly be back.

I’ve been coming to Hyde Park bar and Grill for 30 years and it’s always been excellent. They are famous for their french fries, and their fries are extraordinarily good but so is everything else here. I really like most of their sides and their chicken fried chicken is very good.

I've been going to Hyde Park for over 40 years and no restaurant has been as consistent with food quality and restaurant satisfaction then this one. Today I had one of their staples...chicken fried steak. A delicious piece of beef with a well crafted breading that is light in texture yet amazing in flavor. And of course their world famous coated fries with special dipping sauce.

Had a great meal here at Hyde Park Grill. Orderded the famous buttermilk fries to start and they were crispy and satisfying. Chicken Fried Steak for dinner, it was tasty but I wouldn’t say the best I’ve ever had. I would like to come back and try another dish. I would dock half a star for the heat inside, the area we were sat didn’t have a fan over it and got pretty hot as the meal went on. Was definitely ready for the check to arrive. I would recommend this spot, has a classic restaurant vibe to it.

This iconic comfort food haven has been an Austin institution for decades, and it never disappoints. Since we came on the Monday before Thanksgiving, the huge fork standing in front was holding a turkey! I love the laid-back ambiance of this place, warm and filled with natural light. There’s a full bar, and while there are only a few beers on tap, I was able to get my favorite Austin-brewed hazy IPA. The menu has so many good choices you can’t go wrong. Number one recommendation? The FRIES. I’ve had them all over the world and Hyde Parks are the best! I got an order to eat there as well as a large order to bring home and reheat in the air fryer! I get fries every time, no matter what else I order. Other things I rotate through: the burgers, chicken fried chicken, bacon glazed meatloaf, the Asian chicken salad, and the Sonora salad. The sides are excellent, with my favorites being the buttermilk mashers, the grilled broccoli, and the cheddar poblano grits. The other thing I get every time has an odd name but is simply delicious: Wom Kim’s Peach Pudding. Just try it. The weekend brunch is also amazing. Join lots of Austinites in this weekly celebration.

The crowd here is on the older side. People come with their families or even on dates. The drinks are strong. The happy hour is cheap but only limited items. There is plenty of parking in the front, back, and a bigger lot further back. We ordered 4 of their happy hour drinks, they were tasty and came quickly. For the food, we opted for happy hour finger food. We got their famous fries, fried beans, and fried avocado. The fries were delicious, they are coated in some starch and fried. The avocado tasty so good, like creamy egg yolk. The fried string beans are just as you’d expect. The dipping sauces were yummy!! The portions here are very big for their happy hour price. The staff was nice and quick. I would def come back again to try their chicken fried steak entree.

Great food. Quite warm inside and service was a little lax outside of food and drink running (bartender runs your drinks if not busy so you get them pretty much immediately). Service would have been perfect, had dietary requests been accommodated, instead of saying it’s already prepared and unable to be done, then when it comes out it’s obviously easily done. Definitely recommend for a great food experience at an original Austin staple and authentic hometown experience.

Unique spot. Food was good, however if you're concerned, definitely ask how your dish is prepared. I asked what the steamed broccoli is seasoned with, Server said nothing. 😶 The painkiller drink is tasteless so I'd recommend skipping it. I'd totally eat here again! I enjoyed the bacon glazed meatloaf and avocado fries. The collards w/ bacon was a hit...after I added a touch of honey.

Good family dining restaurant. Went there with Texan colleagues who used to frequently visit this place in the 90s and around. Their fries are must try. For a first timer, liked the tastes but my old buddies mentioned the taste changed a little bit from earlier days. Went for fried chicken steaks but the taste was little drier. Mostly needs a little heart put into the food and keep up their own standards. Good historical friendly restaurant.

The smoked salmon patties were awful. Tasted like liquid smoke. Such a shame, since I have always enjoyed the food here. On the plus side, the fries and Wom Kim's peach pudding were excellent.
