Opinions de Lala's South Pole Austin
I have organized multiple neighborhood buys nights through out the year here. Always a good vibe, drinks are good, food is good (LOOK AT THAT PIZZA SLICE!) and of course the Christmas decor…
Happiest Bar South of Santa! Dropped in for "one drink" to map out our evening after a movie. The vibe here is sooo happy and wonderful. The sounds that greeted us coming in were laughter and upbeat 80's rock music. UT game on the TV's. We selected a "Santa's Lil' Helper" from the special cocktail menu. Wow! Served in a wide champagne glass, it was way better than I hoped it would be. It seemed like an odd mix of items for a cocktail. Total perfection. Delicious. We will try the whole drink menu. Soon. It was a super happy stop on a Saturday afternoon. 10/10 do over.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ | Best bartenders south of 290 and the pizza that’ll ruin all others. If you’re in South Austin and haven’t hit Lala’s South Pole, you’re missing a local gem that somehow feels like Christmas and a dive bar had the perfect baby. The energy hits the second you walk in — lights, laughter, and that low hum of people actually enjoying themselves instead of pretending to. Jeremy is the kind of bartender that makes the bar feel like home. Quick hands, sharp memory, and a vibe that says you’re taken care of. He’s equal parts mixologist and conversational ninja — the guy could teach a masterclass in smooth service without the ego. The other bartender (you’ll know her the second you see her) deserves her own shoutout — the kind of aesthetic that belongs on a mural. Effortlessly cool, detail-oriented, and pours a drink like she’s setting the tone for the whole night. And the pizza? Best on Davis Lane, no contest. Crispy edges, perfect cheese pull, and just greasy enough to remind you why bars with good food are a dying art. If South Austin had a North Star, it’d hang right over Lala’s South Pole.
Great Christmas theme all year long! I really like that they have specialty Christmas drinks alongside the class drinks you order all year! Brooklyn Pie is so delicious as well if you just want something small or are feeding a crowd of people. It's a little pricey if you want a lot of toppings compared to other pizza joints but it's really well done and always tasty. Wings are great too. We always get a 10 piece with a pizza and take some home for tomorrow!
Fun new outpost of North Austin Christmas-themed institution Lala's. The decorations are enveloping as usual, making this bar an experience rather than just a watering hole. It has happy hour weekdays 3-7 with discounted in week drinks, wine, and beer. They also have creative and delicious cocktails, and a pizza window. The bar has several bar seats and tables inside as well as a festive patio with more tables outside. They share a large free parking lot with adjacent businesses in the same strip, including a liquor store and a weed shop.
I love Christmas, so that’s what drew me to the bar. However, I walked away feeling like we had found our new “local” place :) the vibes are chill, the drinks are delicious, and the staff is amazing!
Lala’s South Pole is so cute and the ultimate holiday experience all year round. Especially fun for your friends bday who was born on Xmas eve.
Oh Lala’s, you are such a special place. When I moved to south Austin many years ago we parted ways, but lo and behold the South Pole brings you back into my life! Christmas every day cannot be explained other than by a tasty beverage, a shot of rumpl minz and the dancing of little elves as you exit the bathrooms. Do yourself a favor and check this amazing spot out!
Really enjoyed the specialty drink Xmas in July and panni. Looking forward to going back and experiencing more! Welcome to the neighborhood.

Cool little spot. Not as busy as the original location up north; but it’s worth it to stop by and support a local business.
My niece & I went out for drinks and dinner at Lala's South Pole off Davis Lane in South Austin. What a hidden gem this place is :-) I've never been there before and was so happily surprised by the Christmas decorations. It was wonderful. The atmosphere is great. The bartender, Rudy and the lady Bailey behind the bar were very welcoming, friendly and answered questions regarding drinks. And my niece has been there before but they were very kind to me, Aunt Rose. The Deadly Nightshade & Wormswort specialty drinks and the rum and coke were very tasty , & delicious drinks. Also the cook Ricardo, he was nice too. We had a delicious Caesar salad and the pizza pie was fantastic. And we had an appetizer of wings. We sat outside. It was a beautiful evening on October 21st. We will definitely be back again soon.

La La’s South Pole is a cute little spot in south Austin and they are attached to a pizzeria. Everything is Christmas themed which is fun. Service was fine. Vibes were high. I’ll be back again!
Loved it, not what I expected at all. But the two bartenders that were there that day need more personality, they were not friendly at all
I was surprised to see this Lala’s location was in a strip center, because that meant it had to be small inside. And it is. This will be a fun place in the off-holiday season when it’s not packed, but for now it’s filled to the brim with dozens of people dressed in their Christmas best. The staff is fully capable of handling the rush. I was very impressed with their attentiveness and efficiency. The music is so loud inside that my friends and I were yelling to hear each other, and I left with a dry, scratchy throat. And the pizza from Brooklyn Pie Co. wasn’t great.

The staff is incredibly nice. The bar itself feels like a pop up. My biggest issue is that the neighborhood was so excited for a new bar. This is not a neighborhood bar. $15 cocktails and $6 bottles of beer is downtown prices and even then, still high. Kind of a bummer they don't want to cater to the neighbors.
Our first time to our new neighborhood bar yesterday! It was a great time even though 2 of my friends had to stand the whole time, we still managed to have fun. Met some great south awesome peps. The food was great and the prices pretty average for bar food. Drinks were super expensive not worth the money. Stick to the beer selection. Bartenders seemed bored and not too friendly but the atmosphere made it worth the money and time we spent there. We will be back!

Great atmosphere and attentive staff. For where this is located the owners did a good job with the experience. Unfortunately, watch out for hidden costs. Like a $3 surcharge for “rocks” which was basically ice from a machine, and maybe 6 pieces of it. At least make ice blocks if you’re gonna add dumb charges. I won’t go lower than 3 stars for the space and people. But I won’t be going back. For a neighborhood bar, gotchas like this are deal killers. Also a surcharge for using a credit card was bad form. Just build it into the prices if you want to make that money back, like every other bar does.
It’s exciting to have a bar in this neighborhood that’s walkable, and especially exciting that it’s Lalas! The staff were amazing; on week three it seems that they are running super smoothly, and were attentive and friendly. The ambiance is like a polished version of the original. My complaint is that $15 for cocktails for a “dive bar” is highway robbery—it feels like they know people will pay since there isn’t much else around.

I really hate to be a curmudgeon, I love to leave praise for folks and hate to be a critic. But I have to say, this evening my wife, son (7mos old) and I were excited to go to the new Lala’s location for a little Tuesday evening get together with our friends. At the door when we arrived just before 6pm, we were greeted and told that because we had our baby with us, we wouldn’t be able to sit inside. We figured no hard feelings, that’s fair! We then proceeded to have a great, peaceful evening meal enjoying the front patio which we were relegated to, having some awesome pizza and drinks, only to be later approached at 7pm (roughly an hour later after showing up) to be told that we needed to leave because kids weren’t permitted after 7pm. Now I totally understand that kids can risk being a bit of an ambiance killer, and it must be incredibly difficult for restaurants to find the balance of being welcoming to their patrons while protecting the atmosphere for their guests. But it rubbed me the wrong way that my family, along with our friends, were asked to leave even when our son wasn’t making a peep throughout the entirety of our time there. Not to mention the fact that it was 7pm on a Tuesday with a half-packed crowd at this Lala’s location. There was really no necessity to remove us from the patio. I was a bit abrasive and combative toward the staff (and for that I apologize), but my 1-star review is being left with some conviction because I felt that their policy for removing us from their restaurant because of our baby was embarrassingly tone deaf and pretty absurd. We thought it was an awesome spot, and we were all very excited to visit their new location which was so close to where we lived. But the way we were treated despite our patronage left me feeling let down and disappointed.
Came here with a group of 12 people. 12 drinks times average of 12 to $14 per person. I had a big golf that I just bought because I was very thirsty and brought it in with standing in line at the pizza counter. The rudest cocktail server in the world comes up says" you need to get rid of those out of here This is not accepted here We cannot allow you to bring outside food or drinks" apparently creating repeat customers is not one of their mantras. All you had to do was come up politely and ask. I said vocally that's a good way to lose your tip on a 12 top by treating guests like this. Also the manager all he had to do was come out and take the lid off and smell it to make sure there's no alcohol. That's a pretty common sense thing to do. You will not get your TABC license taken away for allowing a Coca-Cola with no alcohol in it into your establishment. Then the manager comes over and tells my wife because she brought it in to the patio area instead of putting in her car in the trash You mind getting rid of this please? Thank you. As if that's going to do anything good for a customer that may not ever come back again. Seriously why couldn't you have just asked me to take the lid off and smell it or something? There is no liability when it comes to this. This is just a rule that they're making tookeep themselves from losing money. Also I feel it's ridiculous that they are charging 3% for credit card fees. Just build it into your prices just like any other business would....
One of the worst customer service experiences that I have had! My 3 year old son and I were on our evening walk. We live about a 10-15 minute walking distance from Lala’s. Normally though, with my nursing school schedule, we go for our walks when there isn’t any daylight left. However, tonight was an exception. I got out early and so I decided to venture out and take my toddler to Lala’s, which is composed of his favorite holiday theme; CHRISTMAS! 🎄 We haven’t officially had Halloween and he’s singing Christmas music with spider webs and everything “Halloween oriented”, at our house. I looked online before we left to confirm how late kids were allowed in the venue. We got there at 6:40 and kids are allowed until 8. So great! My plan was to have an adult beverage while my little one enjoyed his pizza (which is HUGE)!!!!! I get up to the bar, with he and his stroller in-toe and both bartenders made eye contact with me and blatantly skipped over me and went to the other two groups of patrons that walked in long after me! I immediately thought to myself, “That’s the Good Lords way of telling me that I need to get a cheaper drink at the gas station, next door”. Complete disregard for every patron and not to sound intentional but I’m not an ogre looking woman! Pizza and the attached pizza service guys were great, which abated some of the morale that I received from the bar service. But still, my idea of my toddler and I sitting at a table for a mere 15 minutes, while he ate and I drank a cold one and he relished in the Christmas decor, was eradicated very quickly and that really put a burst in our evening walk; which was a new venture for him! Not sure that I’ll even attempt to go back there, because of how horribly we were disregarded! “Go for the Food, but definitely DON’T STAY for the Service”!

I got a stale drink, didnt know you could get such a thing. It had weird look and texture. Only myself and 1 other person who seemed to know the employees, they acted like I wasn't welcome and wanted me to leave. I asked about the drink, clearly not happy but kept my mouth shut after the response was that the liquid was only a few days old. Like.. thats not old? Also its expensive here. I dont mind with crafted cocktails, but this was out of a drink machine. It didn't look right.
