This place is super cool! The staff are chill and friendly! The food is perfectly portioned and good! The drinks are fun, themed, and still get the classics. There is a huge variety of games to choose from as well as a game master who explains the games in a fun easy way! I would highly recommend! I would love to go back amd try different games. Great a few friends or 10! Just make sure to reserve a game table!

I went as a group of four for my birthday, and we had a nice time! We got to play a game we had never tried before (Battle Sheep) and had fun playing a few rounds while eating. The food was tasty and they had very interesting options to choose from. I especially liked the potstickers. It was all-around a good experience, this felt like a nice place to get together with friends and try something new.

An amazing place to enjoy tasty food with great drinks while playing games with friends. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and the place has an impressive library of board and card games available. You can also bring your own! I've rented one of the private "secret" game rooms to host a Dungeons and Dragons game, and it was a fantastic experience for everyone. Absolutely worth your time!

Vigilante is so much fun. If you're just going for the games, this place is relatively cheap with just the game table fee. I always want to order snacks and drinks so I end up spending more when I go. There are a ton of board games and table top games ranging from super easy to games that could take 5+ hours. The food is pretty good for bar snacks. I love the little light you get to press when you need to order games or food, you never have to awkwardly hope someone will come over. The interior is super fun and interesting, I always have a blast here

We love Vigilante! They have so many fun gaming options for varying group sizes! My husband and I enjoy going for date night, as they also have fun two person games! A great way to try out games before buying. They also do fun themed trivia nights. Their food and service is always good. They have a good menu that fits in with the gaming theme. Very cool atmosphere!! Can’t say anything but good things!!

This is absolutely one of my favorite spots to hang out in Austin. I've been to a few board games restaurants and cafes, including out of state, and this one is unmatched. The ambience is amazing. There are games for everyone, and they even have a small console set up at the bar. There's also two secret rooms behind the bookshelves that you can rent out for a private event! The food is amazing, fairly priced and very vegan/vegetarian friendly. Highly recommend.

Their food is always fantastic, and the play on words with the menu items never fails to bring me joy. I recommend the Thai Fighter (the fried chicken sandwich) it’s absolutely delicious. It’s such a fun way to try new board games you’ve never played before, this isn’t just Monopoly or Sorry, it’s way more than that. If you can name it, they probably have it. We always bring friends who have never been to Austin here, and it’s the perfect spot for either a competitive night or something more relaxed together.

I love this place. Great to hang out with friends and grab some food! Extremely friendly and warm staff. Plenty of games on demand, and they always have a dedicated staff member to explain it to you if you're new to a game! Plus a bar area with Switch games if you're looking for more of a solo-experience. Cheap too, so absolutely worth popping your head if you're around!

I've been a regular at Vigilante for years building many fond memories with friends and dates. Come for the games. Stay for the delicious food and drinks and excellent service. If you don't know what you want to play, they have a library of hundreds of games and the staff will take the time to help you understand how to play. It's also the perfect place to bring your DnD group or have some fun playing Mario Kart against strangers at the bar. They have multiple local beers and ciders, as well as many unique and fun cocktails, each one given a perfectly nerdy name. The food is some of the best comfort around, with the best house made burgers, fries, and milkshakes you can imagine as well as more exotic offerings like gyoza and samosas and 10 different possible dipping sauces. But what makes it really special is the atmosphere. If you like games, these are your people. Each table has a call button that lights up a signal to call the waiter over so you never have to yell. Be sure to book special occasions in the secret room behind the bookcase. You won't reget it.

I love this place! They just get it right and they do it with style. The ambience is intimate and homey like a Hobbit pub, the staff are very helpful in explaining the games, and the food and drinks are great. I would come here just for that, but games and a hidden secret room…! I had my birthday with my family in that room last year and it was really fun.

I love vigilante so much! It’s truly an ATX gem, the ultimate fun and unique night out with friends or family. I’ve been multiple times with both and we always have fun. I’ve also rented out their hidden bookshelf room for a DnD campaign finale and WOW was that special. They are fully equipped for all types of nerd there. The food matches the atmosphere (fun and tasty bites) and they have a solid bar. Highly recommend!

I’ve been to Vigilante Gastropub several times now and it’s consistently a great time. They have dozens of board games to choose from and there are always people walking around to explain the rules or help you get started, which makes it easy to try something new without feeling lost. The food is solid for a game bar and you can actually make a full dinner out of it instead of just snacking. The whole place has a fun but not chaotic vibe. Perfect for a date night or a low-key hang with friends. Highly recommend!

I love vigilante. It’s such a good place to hang out with friends or family. They have a great game selection and they’re very good at explaining games when you’ve never played them before. I’ve found multiple favorite games here! Service (for both game questions and food/drink orders is very prompt). Also they have a great selection of gluten free food which is great because I can’t always eat at places like this. I love the gluten free grilled cheese and the samosa bites. Sooo good. Also they have great mocktails (I don’t drink alcohol but the alcoholic drinks also look like they’d be super good!)

Vigilante used to be an amazing place to hang out with friends, have good food and drinks, and play board games. I even once reserved one of the private rooms for a significant life event. Unfortunately, I can no longer recommend it for any of those activities. Last time I was at Vigilante, I had made a reservation for 3 hours for a table. Upon arrival 5 minutes early, I was told that the table wasn't ready as the last group hadn't left. After waiting 10 minutes, I inquired with the front desk again and was told the same thing. They continued to delay us over and over until we were finally seated 30 minutes after our reservation start time. Once I sat down, I realized that the pricing had significantly increased per menu item and they no longer offered the combo deal. Unfortunate, but not a deal breaker. My group decided to play a new game and asked the waitress to send the "game explainer" to us when possible. They never came, and additional polite requests for them were also similarly ignored. The quality of the food and drinks is alright. It's a shame that they've so severely paired down their menu. A lot of my and my friends favorite items have slowly disappeared over the years, and what's left is nothing to really write home about. It is serviceable though. The final straw was when our waitress gave us our bills 15 minutes before the end of our reservation time and said that we needed to leave asap. So, in total, they made us wait 30 minutes and decided to cut our time short an additional 15. If you decide to come here, add an additional hour into your reservation as a buffer for the 45 minutes they will penalize you for showing up. Overall, Vigilante has shifted focus away from giving customers an amazing, fun atmosphere in lieu of churning people through as quickly as possible and charging them a premium price for that subpar experience. There are now several game bars in Austin alone that provide better food and customer service for similar pricing, so Vigilante doesn't really have any positives bringing me back. Sorry Vigilante, I'll remember all the fun game nights I had at you, but I'm never coming back.
