Absolutely loved this place! Felt like home. Had too much fun just enjoying the afternoon with friends and wonderful staff that made us feel like home. Highlight of the week! Affordable beers, great music, fabulous company! Will be back repeatedly!
My grandson and I stopped at the 602 brewing company. Just expected to get a burger and fries once we're in that we've seen they had a chicken fried chicken I have the mashed potatoes with mine and my grandson had fries with his it also included a bowl of soup. Lentil soup which was totally delicious. The staff for totally caring and courteous seated us immediately brought us our menus after we ordered our food the chicken fried chicken came back to the table bigger than my hand almost twice the size of my hand and one of the best I've ever had the ground submitted, they must have Gordon Ramsay cooking in the back cuz this is delicious i recommend 602 brewing company 10 out of 10 10 out of 10 for the food and 10 out of 10 for the atmosphere don't miss out go check it out
Everytime we go to Bastrop, we try a local restaurant that we haven’t before, but man o man, we were surprised we hadn’t tried 602. First of all, all the food we ordered was full of flavor and hot. Their beers are great too. I couldn’t stop drinking their peach Hefeweizen. They really do care and try to bring the community together. Even met the owner and his daughter, which were both lovely. Shout out Heather Blue (the bartender), whom was nice, attentive and a rockstar. Will definitely visit again to try more of their menu.
Great brewery in such an awesome little town. The burger was excellent and the service was wonderful. We had the Feelin Peachy Wheat and Huells Big Money IPA. Both were delicious and the perfect reward for a day hiking at nearby Bastrop State Park.
We were in town from Austin and we stopped in starving for dinner and desperate to find a place that would be friendly and accommodating towards my brother who has cerebral palsy and is in a wheelchair. 602 sat us right away at a table my brother could have his wheelchair at too. Natalie was our server and she provided the BEST experience for us! She was so helpful and accommodating and kind. She was kind to my brother and made sure he had everything he needed. The food was great too!
First time here. Excellent place to grab a beer on tap and enjoy some good food and company. The menu is heavy on green chili's, which I enjoyed thoroughly. Highly recommend the chili artichoke dip. So good. Good beer selection too. In addition to the 602 brand, they also carry several others on tap and bottle. Will definitely be back next time I'm rolling through Bastrop!
The new menu is amazing, especially Annie's Southwest Eggrolls. Ask about the daily special, they rotate some very tasty dishes. The bread pudding is a great way to end your meal. They also brew their own beer, which you don't want to miss out on. They make a killer old fashioned as well. Live music on Friday and Saturday nights. I highly recommend.
Stopped in for lunch based on the menu posted outside. Staff was friendly and attentive. Food came out quickly and was hot and tasty. Forgot to take pictures of the pretzel. Take my word, it was good. Didn't partake of any beers at this time. Will definitely come back on future visits to Bastrop.
Very welcoming ambiance lured us in. It did not disappoint. Super friendly engaging staff. Great selection of beer and other beverages. Only tried the chipotle hummus to eat. Some of best hummus I’ve ever had. Fantastic to see local artists supported. We had the pleasure of witnessing an artist at work. Awesome
Service was a little slow but I think it was because of the amount of staff versus The amount of people in the restaurant. I sat at the bar and I had a great time. Mikey was the bartender and was very attentive to my orders and got everything I needed quickly and was always friendly. There were never any complaints and he overall just had a fantastic attitude. The food was absolutely amazing. Best shrimp and grits I've ever had presentation was not bad, especially for a bar, and the flavor was right on. I would order this again and again. The beer that I tried was one of their in-house golds and it was exactly what I was looking for. I wasn't quite sure what to order when I got there and Mikey pointed me exactly where I needed to go for what they had in house that would match my taste. If you're in Bastrop and looking for some good food and beer. This is a fantastic choice. If service was just slightly faster. I would have gone with a solid five stars. Their prices were very reasonable and as I said the food quality was excellent.
Fresh food - had the 602 burger with great fresh toppings and the Ruben which was crispy and buttery with tender corn beef. House fries were ok, found clumps of goodness but not consistent. Service was attentive and the atmosphere was relaxing with large enough room between tables you don't feel crowded.
This was a planned stop on a road trip where we were hoping for a taproom environment. What it seems like this is is a restaurant with a small beer focus, but nothing to write home about. We had a soft pretzel, which had a tasty mustard with it and beer cheese dip, but the pretzel was really just a baked bread. No true pretzel crust. Then had some Reuben rolls, which were a take on mixing a reuben sandwich with egg rolls. Neat idea and tasty. I'd definitely recommend those for a small snack. The beer was average, but honestly would've been above average with a little bit of actual service and conversation. The bar tender did her best to ignore us, service was extremely slow with 30+ minutes between her checking on us. She would disappear for long periods of time and barely said two words to us and showed no interest in getting us to order more. When we sit at a bar at a craft beer brewery, what we're looking for is good beers and good conversion. We got okay beer and zero conversion and they weren't busy. Just disinterested. If you're driving through the hill country looking for a craft beer experience, save your time and money and find a true taproom where the beer is front and center and the bar tenders are anxious to talk to you about it. There were a couple of others working behind the bar who equally ignored us, as if we hadn't been there for an hour and a half and no only even asked if we wanted another round.
We've lived in the Bastrop area over 5 years and only visited here once before for the live music. We decided to stop in for dinner this time. The vibe and location of this place automatically sets it up for success. At least, you would think. It began with men carrying large equipment through the dining room out to the patio for the live music. The equipment was carried over the head of more than one patron, which could have been catastrophic if even one part had fallen or slipped. It was also just unprofessional. We tried several mixed drinks, several appetizers, and several entrees. The Ribeye was cooked to perfection, and the sausage platter was delicious. That's about all that was good. The fried pickles were way more fry than pickle, the asparagus was way over cooked, the mashed potatoes looked and tasted like they were from a box, and one of the mixed drinks was so bad, we sent it back and asked for bottled beer. Our waitress was supporting both inside and outside, and even though the dining room was less than half full, we waited extended periods of time each time we needed something; culminating in about a 15 min wait for our check before we finally got up and asked if someone could find our server so we could leave. I was really hoping to like this place; we're always looking for a place to get a good drink and steak, but I guess we'll have to keep looking.
Let me start by saying the habanero margarita was great! Kuddos to the bartender. The food, however, was not as good, I had the chicken fried steak which was chewy but okay. The cheddar mashed potatoes were cold, I even ordered additional gravy to warm up the potatoes. The gravy was hot but tasteless. Great place to get a drink though. .
I took my aunt here for lunch on 11/5. The food was bordering on bad! I had the chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes and a house salad. She had the chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, and green beans. NOTHING was seasoned, no salt, no peper, nothing. If it weren't for the green chili gravy, there wouldn't have been any taste to it. Unfortunately, the gravy was made with old or burnt grease and tasted bad. Green chili from a Texas point of view would hint that there's some taste and some heat. Here, it's just for looks. And to add to it, the potatoes were stone cold. The service wasn't bad, but the food was.
Very disappointed in the past couple of visits, the food was so good a couple years ago! Came for valentines with some friends and were unimpressed with the valentines menu. Very limited and either had to like seafood or weird stuff. There was a lady singing but we could barely hear since we were in the back room. The food was dry and unseasoned. Drinks were okay but didnt taste like there was alcohol. I will not be coming back, do not waste youre time.
We came for dinner (6 people) and to enjoy the band. Server was nice and was trying, but just couldn’t get it together. Had to ask 3 times for a basket of fries and after another 30 minutes asked again, still no fries. After asking a 4th time we finally got them. Tempura shrimp was inedible. After getting our food, the burgers were ok, about like a P Terry’s burger, pork chop was ok, mashed potato’s were dry and completely flavorless. In the end, server had to ask who had what to be able to divide the checks. (Split in 3) As for atmosphere, liberal Austin, proudly flying the Palestinian and LGBTQ+ flag on the way to the gender neutral bathroom. To each their own, I just don’t care for ANY affiliations in my dining experiences. I worked there when it was Baxter’s as a server, sad how far it’s fallen in food quality and service. Much better options downtown.
