What a fantastic place!! We had our Christmas Party here last night. Denise was so accommodating to us. The food was terrific and as usual...the staff was on point. There are plenty of places to eat in this town...but, you can't find one that is on point like this group. Bravo to you and your staff. 👏❤️👏

El Nuevo hosted my work Christmas party and did a wonderful job. We had about 35 people, they seated us in the back room and the food was yummy and fresh. The staff made sure to check on our drink refills and attended to our large group needs. I recommend using El Nuevo for your larger party events or just to have a normal meal.

Denise and her staff are absolutely amazing!!! We have been coming here for 10 plus years and keep coming back because the food is great, but the service and atmosphere are even better. Denise and the other servers know my kids by name, and my kids run up to them for hugs every visit. This is truly the best Mexican restaurant in Bastrop and a hidden gem. They have the best salsa and fajitas in town hands down. I can’t recommend this place enough.

We love Mexican food and margaritas, and have been going here for years. Recently we’ve decided to try the taco salad bowls with fajita meat, and wow! I order the fajita beef, which is very tender and like eating fajitas in a bowl! She likes the chicken fajitas, which are just as delicious. And of course, you gotta have a margarita! I like the SangriaRita myself.

El Nuevo Mexico – Bastrop, TX We come all the way from Columbus, Ohio every year for the Circuit of the Americas weekend, and El Nuevo Mexico is always one of our favorite stops. The food is consistently delicious and authentic—real, flavorful Mexican food that hits the spot every time. Our server was phenomenal—friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home. We highly recommend this restaurant to anyone in the Bastrop area or visiting for the races. It never disappoints!

I had the huevos rancheros at El Nuevo Mexico Restaurant, and they were delicious . The eggs were perfectly cooked, the ranchero sauce had a great balance of heat and flavor, and the tortillas were fresh and warm. Exactly what I was craving. Friendly service and quick turnaround made the experience even better. I definitely recommend.

Everything about El Nuevo Mexico Restaurant was fabulous. The atmosphere, the wonderful staff, the bathrooms are clean. The food was fresh and delicious. I had a wonderful time with family. I highly recommend this restaurant. God's blessing to all.

I absolutely love this restaurant. I have been here many times for breakfast, a few times for lunch, and everything is always yummy. The place is always clean and the staff is attentive and friendly. Salsa is always consistent in flavor but spiciness can vary. Today I finally had an alcoholic drink and it was good. The only complaint is that the lime slice had a brown edge, which is a pet peeve of mine. Doesn't take long to cut limes as needed. I also love that they don't over salt the food.

This was my second time going and the staff was constantly checking to see if anything else was needed. The meal I had this round was steak enchiladas very different AND I loved the presentation very different from others and of course the food was hot can not forget to mention the Margarita "small" man that was enough. Great prices for the quality of food and we've always experienced very friendly service. Food is prepared promptly and we rarely have to wait more than 5 minutes for our orders to arrive (to be fair, we usually go during less busy hours). The watermelon margaritas are also made with real watermelon and not syrup which is always a big win in our book. Not a high end dining experience, but definitely merits 5⭐️ for what it is - minimal frills quality food

the main reason i gave 4 stars is that kids meals are $7.99 which is steep and expensive. Otherwise nothing to note. There are good Mexican restaurants in the area in the community gardens that have 25% less for better kids meals inclu6Mondays free. 2,4, and 5 year olds are more a service than expense. yet $24 for tiny bites (the kids) are a parents expensecto be considered plus tax plus tip. that wnds up $12 a kid plus. for $8 of food. No complaints for adults. The people are nice, food is good. recommend beef fajitas about $24 for adult. there is enough left over to feed two small ones....its like free fajitas instead of kids meals. i paid ~$123 for 3 adults and 3 kids. for simple food. will go to my alternative place for $40 less total.

I really annoy El Nuevo Mexico. It’s one of the better Mexican restaurants in the area with good drinks. Diego has been a great addition to the team. He is very attentive and is always making sure we are good when we visit that your would think he was our waiter. A great restaurant!

Great place. Al Pastor and breakfast meal was good very flavorful with a balance. My only suggestion is check you garnishments, like the lettuce that was beautiful placed on the the plate wasn’t so appealing. Meaning it was rotten and black spots here and there. Remember ppl eat with their eyes first. And always offer salsa even though we didn’t ask. Maybe I’m wrong but offer top service as your waiter and waitress are expected too as quality as your food is. Because if you can’t check the bit things like garnish lettuce to dress up your plates with great food. Then, it can cause an issue for other customers. Just a learning lesson to look out for. Other than that it’ll would’ve been 4 for my family and I. But yes, great food. Just work on that. Still a good place to have breakfast.

1. Deceptive charging. There is not a printed order ticket, but instead, a handheld scanner for running credit cards. The handheld scanner shows only the total amount owed, along with the Tip amount boxes to choose the tip. It does not show the items being paid for. I requested a paper ticket so I could see what I'm paying for, and even if it's the correct meal order. On my ticket, it had a group tip already calculated in, plus a charge for something I had not ordered! Had I blindly paid on the handheld scanner without knowing what items I'm being charged for, I would have paid DOUBLE tip and paid for something I did not order. Deceptive. 2. Taco Salad lacked taste. 3. Very accommodating to our group size as a walk-in. 4. Spacious, large room was nice; not bumping into tables when walking or seated. Room was nice and bright!

I at first love their food! But on my 4th or 5th visit. I found a cockroach in my rice. Not that it was cooked in but apparently scary to cross the rice itself. Apparently in the kitchen. I was absolutely disgusted and sickened. The manager refused to believe me. Needless to say I will never go back.
