Amazing BBQ. Owner is from Ft. Worth, TX area so he’s the real deal for Texas-style beef brisket. Perfect sides include choices of collard greens, potato salad, mac n’ cheese, sweet potatoes, and baked beans, etc. Friendly service!

Having just learned about this place last week, I decided it was time to check it out and so Saturday afternoon I stopped in and got me some dinner to take home. I ordered the brisket special with two sides and I got baked beans and mac n cheese with cornbread and a sweet tea and all was excellent! Lone Star offers brisket and ribs and chicken and pork and I believe they have nachos and a few spuds, as well! Baked beans, mac and cheese, potato salad, French fries, sweet potatoes green beans and green beans for sides. Banana pudding and sweet potato pie for dessert The couple of employees that were there were super nice, very friendly people and I would definitely be going back and I would definitely be ordering from them again!

The delicious flavor, great atmosphere, and relatively affordable price, all pale in comparison to the passion and friendliness of the owner. If you get a chance, while out here, I would 100% give this place a chance. Couldn't ask for a better restaurant.

I ordered the lonestar trio (brisket tacos) and they were incredible. The brisket is INCREDIBLE. The tacos with lime squeezed on them brought the freshness out so nicely. Only comment on the order was that the fries didn’t seem salted, but nothing that can’t be fixed by adding your own salt! My bf mentioned that they make all good to order so there was a bit of a wait but it was well worth it!

I visited Lonestar BBQ and Soul food today. I was pleasantly surprised. The staff were friendly and service was quick and accurate. I tried the pork plate, moist and flavorful, mac and cheese, I love baked mac and cheese, this didn't disappoint, potato salad, it was good but a little runny, flavor was nice even though a little sweet. The cornbread was so good. I will definitely go back, portion size was good. Great job crew, it was tasty.

This place is AMAZING! The best tasting and authentic BBQ you will eat in the Tri-state!! Go see for yourself. They do not disappoint!!! 5 stars!!!

I will continue to go back bc not only was the food good BUT the owner/ cook came to our table to talk and it felt like home. The converstation, the laughter, the soul in the food will cause this to be one of the greatest local resturants around.

It's rare that I give a 5 star rating to any place. But Lone Star has definitely earned every one of those stars. I've been there a few times now and every time the food is fresh, hot, and some of the best that I've ever had. The ribs are thick and meaty. Plus the barbecue sauce is very, very good. It's got that nice balance of spiciness to it. The collard greens have a bit of a spicy barbecue flavor to them. The mac and cheese has a nice thick sauce with a good cheese flavor. And don't even get me started on the banana pudding. If they sold their pudding by the pound, I would be there every week. I live in Newburgh, so I can't get there as often as I would like. But if you live anywhere close to there, you would be a fool not to go. They are really that good, I'm not exaggerating.

I ordered the brisket sandwich and my husband had the brisket plate with mac and cheese and baked beans. The brisket was so tender it melted in my mouth! With a hearty portion, I had to eat some of it with a fork before I was able to enjoy it in sandwich form. But when I did the buttery bun complimented the brisket so nicely! I sampled my husband's sides and was so pleasantly surprised at the sweetness of the baked beans! The mac and cheese was thick and creamy and delicious as well. The atmosphere of the restaurant was very pleasant and the staff was very friendly! Will definitely be back!

We’ve been to this restaurant on several occasions. They have the best cornbread & their pulled pork, bbq ribs & brisket is amazing!! Their portion size is enough that my husband and I split the 3 choice meat dinner & still had leftovers. Prices are reasonable for everything you get. Hidden gem in Evansville, Indiana. Don’t let this restaurant pass you by. Customer service is top notch! The owner greets every guest. You never get that kind of service in most places.

1st time here. Very clean. Tables are not cramped. Friendly service. Brisket platter with bbq beans, potato salad, corn bread. Everything was excellent, hot, fresh. The best potato salad I've ever had. (I know, that's subjective.) The other plate was the Lonestar Trio. 3 soft tacos filled with chopped pork, red onions, cilantro, verde sauce and lime. Generous portions. Highly recommend.

Im visiting the wife's family here in Evansville. I'm a born and bred Texan and have eaten the finest barbecue that Texas has to offer - Cooper's, Franklin's, Black's and many more. How y'all got so lucky in Eville I'll never know. Tommy the Pitmaster creates his savory meats with the best of them ... the best! (Well, he is from Dallas). And, his sauce is absolutely incredible - i could drink it for breakfast. This is "can't miss" experience! Oh, and the prices. In Texas, this quality Q would cost 50 - 100% more. Seriously.

The employees were very cordial and more than willing to help a first time customer with their food choice. The atmosphere is only downgraded cause of the location and the road noise if you sit outside.

Oh yeah! This is what it's supposed to be like. Had the brisket plate with mac & cheese and the collard greens. The greens were the best nice and spicy sweet . Brisket has the right smokiness and just gotta love it. Going to have a hard time trying anything else but my friend says the nachos rocked.

I will say I am a huge bbq fan, but specifically Texas bbq! This place is it! I was greeted by a gentleman who was super informative and friendly. I ordered the 2 meat *brisket and pork* combo with double green beans. (As I am on low carb/dirty keto diet) It was $20, BUT you get what you pay for! Quality meats and super smokey! I asked if it has sauce on it and the man said he's a true Texas bbq man, good bbq doesn't need sauce put on it. However, they do give you a side of bbq sauce with it. I love bbq with a permeating smoke flavor, and this was perfect for my taste. The only thing I couldn't eat were the green beans. They have a lot of sugar in them, but that's the "soul food" vibe. The green beans are also spicy, so if you don't want sweet n spicy do not order. If I wasn't on keto, I would have devoured them! LOL. If you haven't tried their bbq, STOP WHAT YOU'RE DOING & go grab ya some! Perfectly seasoned, super smoky, and comes with the best bark! I'm a bark shark. Absolutely delicious! I ordered mine to go and it took about ten minutes. The price and time are completely worth it. They also serve Soul Food, which I love & hopefully, I will try some soon. Very clean establishment. Brisket tacos are 🔥The smokiness of the bbq blew me away! The baked beans, the potato salad, even the corn bread was all very very good. The bbq sauce was the chef’s kiss. The best barbecue in Evansville. take out of a 1/2 slab of ribs took 35 minutes. Ribs should be ready to go imo.

Came here for lunch. Brisket and pulled pork is delicious. Corn bread fluffy and sweet. I tried the baked beans and potato salad, both very tasty.

He loved it both last night and the rest today for lunch! I paid a measly 18 bucks the brisket platter. I had plenty last night and enough for a big lunch today. I’ve easily paid at least $25 for much less at many other authentic bbq joints. Please if you’ve been waiting on going- get going and support this locally owned business. The owner even came out to the dining room to personally check on us and others. We will be back- soon.

Great BBQ and atmosphere. I had a choose 2 meats combo with Brisket, Pork, Greens and Sweet potatoes. My wife had the Baked potato which was overstuffed and more than she could eat. And then what did it for us for sure was not only that the food was phenomenal but when we were packing our food up to go a very sweet younger girl with brown hair came over to greet us again and ask us if we enjoyed our food conversated with us AND packed our food in our bag for us !! Me and my little family will for sure be back . 🤤🤗☺️😋

Food was very good. Brisket was very juicy! Brisket could use a little salt but good without.Ribs were very smokey and perfectly cook. Mac n cheese good flavor and cheesey, not real creamy. Cornbread was decent but not sweet. Was stuffed when we left. Best BBQ food we have at a restaurant!

I went to Lonestar BBQ on Washington ave today for a quick bite and wow! It’s the real deal BBQ. I’ve been a few times before and today I had the dinner plate of brisket with sides of baked beans and Mac & cheese with their cornbread (excellent flavor, moist cornbread!) The brisket was perfectly, seasoned and their sauce (on the side) is delicious. The beans and mac & cheese were fresh, hot and delicious too. If you have not been there yet, you owe it to yourself to go! It’s worth the trip. It was 20 bucks with my sweet tea. Great portions and value for an entire meal this good. It’s a very clean restaurant and a friendly staff with a great family vibe. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

Food was very good, I had smoked brisket and smoked chicken. Sides were good but greenbeans were spicy. I like spicy but not everyone does. Staff and service was excellent.

Overall the food was very good, however our meats came out very cold which was almost a deal breaker for me. Just a little bit of constructive criticism - you need to make sure that the meat is warm when it’s served. It’s a little pricey and service was slow although they were fairly busy. I may go back but would probably order my food to go to ensure that it’s warm.

Flavor was definitely good. It is quite pricey though. Not much meat on the ribs. Brisket was cold. Baked beans were very good but the greens I ordered, I pulled 5 or 6 small bones out of my mouth while eating them. Not something that I would expect eating greens. Could be a choking hazard. While Flavor was good, because of prices and all other factors I probably wouldn't go back.

Brisket was very dry, u could tell it's not fresh. The potato salad has no flavor. The bake beans taste like BBQ sauce and spicy. The cornbread is too thick and dry. Not worth 18.36$

The Good: If you’re coming for the sides, you’re in luck. The cornbread, mac and cheese, baked potato, and banana pudding were all hits—genuinely tasty and well-made. The owner is also incredibly welcoming and friendly, which makes for a nice initial vibe. ​The Bad: The service from the rest of the staff felt a bit off—they seemed awkward and nervous, which made for a clunky experience. ​The Dealbreaker: The meats were a major letdown. Both the ribs and brisket had an intense, almost artificial smokey flavor. The brisket, in particular, was so fatty that I ended up discarding about half of it. To be honest, you could get similar "smokey" quality from the grocery store deli (like IGA) for a fraction of the cost. ​Bottom Line: Great sides and a nice owner, but the BBQ itself missed the mark. I won't be heading back for seconds.

I paid $13 for three of the worst tacos I've ever tasted in my 40 years on this planet. They were skimpy, no shredded cheese, lettuce or tomato. The nachos were okay, but not worth $14. They were mostly chips and I had to add more sour cream once I got them home. The girl at the counter was rude and unprofessional, rushing me to place my order. I went to this establishment when they first opened to show my support to a African American owned restaurant especially from my birth place of Texas. I'm sadly disappointed and I won't be back.
