10/10 ! I ordered here since I had a gift card and never had their food before. All the staff was incredibly friendly and nice, and you can tell they actually enjoy working there together! I ordered the buffalo chicken melt and it was perfect for an after workout lunch! I will definitely come here again!

Not exactly the cleanest place I've ever been to, but definitely not dirty. The menu was full of Great American comfort food. Prices were acceptable, even good considering the state of our economy. The blueberry pancakes I ordered had real fresh blueberries, not dehydrated tiny bits and pieces of berry. They were sweet and firm too. I got the two pancakes, two eggs, two sausage links, and a drink. It was under $10 which is really saying something today. Everything was big enough to enjoy, but not so big that I felt over stuffed when I finished my plate. Service was great as usual! Never had a bad experience at this diner. It was not crowded, but also not empty. I believe this shows good service getting people in and out the door, and good food which draws people in. Parking is always a chore, as space is limited and quarters are tight. Look for a spot in the back, that's your best shot. Newspaper rack was empty as usual. I don't know if they don't get it delivered anymore or it's empty by 10:00 a.m. that's okay though, the weight for the food was minimal, so there wasn't any need to read the newspaper. LOL everything you needs on your phone anyway! The rest of our party was equally satisfied. The lunch menu is as good as the breakfast menu. All in all another fantastic visit to a great piece of Americana. :-)

My wife and I are regulars (last seven years) here. The food and service are consistent and fantastic. Occasionally, there's a minor issue (missing flatware, something with a spot), but it's always corrected quickly. Mike and his team do a great job of providing a good meal, good service, and an inviting place to grab a bite. Breakfast served all day (worth it), and the sandwiches are great, too. Check out the specials board before you order.

The atmosphere was pleasant and inviting. The service was fast and friendly, where most places can only do one and not both. Prices were fantastic, and the coffee is good also. The food was cooked perfectly and my order was 100% correct. And as a bonus their ATM is an allpoint ATM so I was not charged an ATM fee.

My friend and I stopped for lunch. I had a hankering for a BLT Sandwich and that's what I got. Bacon perfectly fried, lettuce and tomatoes were fresh and I added American cheese. It hit the spot! My friend got an Italian sausage omelette with pepper, onions and mozzarella. Fried to perfection. Rye toast too. Great for a quick bit.

It's always nice to find a good diner. The food is good, I like all the pictures on the wall. The staff are friendly and helpful. The seats are not worn out 😉, plenty of tables and booths, and a nice large table for small groups.

Cozy little diner tucked away near the hospital. Good coffee - never burnt, and the staff is always there, offering refills and smiles evenly. My go-to, the Hat Trick is three wonderful fluffy slices of French Toast along with sausage and egg makes for a cheap and extremely filling breakfast.

We went in for a late breakfast and everything was delicious! The staff were very kind, the food came out fast and the prices were great. We will definitely be back!

We love Mount Hope Diner. It is one of our favorite places to eat breakfast. My husband and I had delicious omelette and egg platters. The food and service is exquisite and quick every time you go there no matter how busy it is there. Staff are always down home friendly, warm, fun, and outstanding in every way. The biscuits and gravy are to die for. So so delicious, it reminds me of visiting down south in the summer with relatives. If you’re craving a southern tasting, hardy, good meal, this is the place to go. You’ll leave stuffed and your wallet will be happy too.

Food wasn't the best, grits were super watery but I could have suggested thicker if I wasn't in a rush. Overall food was filling. Service was really nice. My tab was $15 and I tipped $100 because it was on my heart to do so and the waiter I had was such a sweet girl. Not just to me but to everyone who entered the building. Those kind of people deserve recognition

A fantastic little family owned and operated diner right outside of the University of Rochester. On the weekends, it gets pretty busy with all the hungover college kids, but tables clear up quick. Always delicious and fast with great service.

I had such a great experience eating at this diner. I go here once every month or so and they never fail to amaze me. I always order a cappuccino and the famous "Hat Trick" with a side of rye bread. I love looking at the old pictures of on the wall. The waitresses and waiters are ALWAYS so kind and helpful. Tyler is an awesome guy! He is always checking in to make sure you are doing good. Today Kelsey waited on me and again she is amazing! She's very kind and wonderful. So thank you to the crew for being so great and hardworking. I think everyone deserves a raise! You guys rock!

Can’t believe I never visited this diner before. Very delicious old-school American food at amazing prices. I got a big plate of biscuits and gravy with eggs plus coffee and paid like $11 total. Almost all breakfast platters are (at the time of writing) less than $10. One of the best value diners in town these days and the servers are angels. Really feels like a great community spot that’s welcoming to everyone. Just a lovely place, I can’t wait to come back!

Fast and friendly service. The food was so yummy (we got breakfast). Clean and homey with a lot of Rochester history on the walls. This is a cute place if you're in the Strong Hospital area to stop and get a nice cup'pa Joe and some eats.

It was my first time getting takeout from there. When I walked in, a gentleman greeted me. His and everyone's vibe was so positive and friendly. I asked about the quotes displayed. Fabulous food and experience. We had a mini family reunion with cousins from San Antonio, Buffalo, and Boston. Mike, the proprietor, was gracious and allowed us to visit for hours. The staff was charming and the service and food perfect!

I love going here. They were opened their doors in the late 60's The owner is a friendly person along with all of his workers. If your looking for a down to earth atmosphere, Mom & Pops restaurant then I highly recommend this restaurant.. P.S price won't hurt you're wallet either. 🥰

Came here around 12:45pm on a busy Sunday afternoon. This is our second time here. We thought for sure the amount of people that were in there that we would have to wait. But luck had it we were told to sit where ever we wanted so we did. It was extremely busy in there I wish I knew our servers name because she was absolutely amazing. As busy as it was she didn’t seem bothered by it, just kept smiling away, getting customer drinks, and taking orders. I had the Turkey Club and French fries with Beef Gravy so damn good Turkey is fresh and made in house it’s not that processed slimy crap that other places serve. The French fries had a taste I can’t put my finger on but it was very good. The gravy that was delicious as well. They had Beef Barley, Manhattan Clam Chowder and New England Clam Chowder. I absolutely love there New England and had it on my first visit but chose not to have it today. Can’t wait for my next visit very fresh, clean, friendly food and employees

Walked in at 2:15pm with a group of 11 and they were happy to seat us eventhough they close at 3pm. Waitresses were very friendly and accomodating. Food was served quickly. All of us enjoyed our meals and although full we chose to try the chocolate cake and carrot cake. We all enjoyed the cakes too. Highly recommend this diner to anyone visiting or living in the area. *note: 1 meal missing from pictures is chicken solvaki (sp?)

Was in the area for a medical procedure and needed food right after. Stopped in just before it got busy on a late Monday morning. My server was fantastic and had a great attitude. She also was able to get a really good read on her guests, and was incredibly efficient. Food was fast and tasty, no issues. Restaurant was clean from what I saw, and parking was not too bad at all. Definitely stop by if you're in the area and want a lot of food for very fair prices with great service.

Mt Hope Diner was great! Wife and I were hungry for some yummy diner food and we were not disappointed. We ordered blueberry pancakes and a Cuban sandwich both tasted great and we were stuffed. Price with tip was around $16.

The diner is good for what it is, a neighborhood eatery providing ordinary food at a good price. The menu has a variety of breakfast and lunch options. The food is ok but not as good as similar restaurants like Jay's or Steve's. The staff are pleasant and efficient. The facilities are a bit cramped. It has its niche and is a good place for a quick bite if you are in the area. I certainly like it better than the fast food franchises.

Nice old family diner. Prices are more expensive than Denny's and other value diners, but your are getting good quality. I spent $21 by myself on food and coffee. It is not the highest quality experience of a family dinner I have been to, I would give it an average score. Overall, it is a good diner but does need some atmospheric, quality, and lower price improvements. If you live nearby, it would be worth a visit, and maybe every few weeks.

Fun little diner! The staff was friendly and service was speedy. I went for breakfast and asked about gluten free options. My server asked the cook and cooked my food in a separate pan! There was even a gluten free bun/roll which was a nice add-on. All in all, a great experience and I will be back!

Great little diner. Good diner style food, service is usually friendly. I've been here many times, and the specials are usually good, with an interesting variety of breakfast specials on the weekends. A lot of the medical student and residents from the teaching hospital nearby will eat here, as do many local business folks. The owner and staff have often given sandwiches or hot coffee to some of the local folks who are down on their luck, and treat them with kindness and decency, which says a lot about the people who run this place. They're also kind to students; when I was in college I spent many a mid-afternoon studying here, lingering over lunch and several refills of coffee, to get out of the house and they were always welcoming, especially if you didn't hold the table during busy times. Just a comfortable, friendly place with decent diner fare.

Awesome service, great prices, large portions and all homemade! It's a basic old tyme diner, so.atmosphere is nothing fancy. It's definitely a bargain compared to fast food prices and quality . Highly recommend!

I love diners - comfort food, easy on the wallet, relaxed atmosphere - and I went with one of my all-time diner favorites: Meatloaf sandwich with gravy on the fries! The Meatloaf was everything I look for - and I LOVE Meatloaf. The gravy was nice. One thing i expect from a diner is PERFECT french fried potatoes - if I'm being honest they were good, but not perfect. I still ate everything... Oh - I didn't catch her name - but our server was absolutely perfect to me - attentive but not hovering, good humored and efficient.

Busy good sized diner, we got (11:30) there just in time to beat the lunch crowd. The place was packed by noon. Pretty large menu, and very reasonable prices. My breakfast was very good, but I did have to pay an extra $0.50 to get peppers and onions with my home fries. Their Broccoli Chicken Cheddar Wrap was also quite good. Back for a second time, and again we just beat the lunch crowd. Due to the crowd service was pretty slow, but our waitress was very apologetic. Their roasted red pepper soup was tasty but a little too salty. My "Hat Trick" breakfast was barely above room temperature at best.

Excellent and fast service. The food was decent with good portion size. Their pancakes felt slightly below par. The ambience was nice, but their cutlery is pretty old. The coffee mug was chipped off here and there, and the plates looked pretty worn out. I think it’s time for them to renovate because some parts of their roof had mold, which is not good for restaurants in general. And it wasn’t easy to find parking space on a Sunday morning.

I've always enjoyed this place. Close to home, good food. Today was the second time in a week and a half my order did not get taken. Got coffee and water right away. Watched people seated after me have their orders taken. First time, I flagged someone down. Today, I drank my coffee, set my cup on the side for a refill after about 15 mins, watched others get their orders taken, offered to pay for coffee at register, left and came to Jay's. I was promptly waited on and served even though they had a full house and the same number of staff. I'm disappointed because I could walk there. Luckily, I did not.

Ive come here for quite sometime. Always been great service, comfortable atmosphere and definitely good food. Today, 12/23/25, I cannot say the same for the food. My beef sausage was overcooked, grits were gritty and my container barely held my food. Maybe today was an off day, I hope.

Tried the food here for the first time and to be honest it wasn't that great. And I hate to say that because it looks like such a cute place. I got the omelette with bacon that was ok but the well-done home fries honey it taste like they cut it dipped it in water and put it in my container my god, toast was burnt as well. I understand sometimes you can have bad times so I would try again but the home fries is what did it for me, undercooked more like instead of well done

I called in an order breakfast for my staff at 10:45am very pleasant young lady told me 10-15 min went to pick up my order 11:25 am and was told my order was just being made due to the young lady having 3 phone orders back-to-back which was fine paid for my order and asked for a complimentary drink while I waited to the manager John who was at the register instead of giving me the complimentary drink he asked if I wanted to refund my money so I said to him you rather lose money than give a drink for $2 to a loyal customer who orders all the time, he wanted to debate and took pride in his horrible customer service and manager skills. He's unprofessional and very rude to be at the register and greet customers. If he was having a bad day go in the back your customers should not have to put up with that type of service. I ask for the owner email he refused I've spoken to the owner very nice guy who take pride in his restaurant my advice to the owner make sure you have people around you who have the same drive and ambitious for your business and customer that he has and will take care of your business & customer when you're not there. On another note, breakfast was great. Have a great day!

Staff was rude I waited 45 to be service, the food was cold when it came out. the service it was a very unpleasant experience an I come here all the time, being busy should never be an excuse to be rude or have poor customer service.

The service was disgusting We waited over 20minutes before even being greeted or getting drink orders then another 35 minutes before being asked about a order .The food was then served cold an when asked to speak with the owner he said he was the son and standing in for his Father while visiting grand baby . Very unfortunate Service Son wasn't friendly did nothing to make anything right left food cold and only said they were busy it was like a zoo an the servers where being extremely snappy .An incredibly harsh to the younger gentleman bussing tables (Collen)By the way is the most sweetest person in the establishment. I have been here a few times. The food is normally good. But my mom has received undercooked over medium eggs several times and they use damaged plates which poses a major food safety risk which their management knows about and doesn't care or doesn't know about and if that is the case why are they in the restaurant business.

I wish I could give it a 0 the food was absolutely disgusting, my haddock was under cooked still slimy in a fried shell it fell out of. I didn't get my eggs, grits, pancakes basically a whole second meal. The service was terrible and when I spoke to Pete he claimed he was the owner then spoke to John he said he was the owner.After spending 50.90 on that mess I was told to take my business elsewhere and don't call and complain I'm not a customer anymore and argued down about what I did or didn't receive.

Went to Mount Hope diner on Saturday, October 26, 2024. Walked into the place of business and asked to speak to a manager or owner. One of the employees asked what it was in reference to and I stated it was for a donation for a school event. He said he would go get them. He came back about 20 seconds later and stated, “ no one was available and it was a no”. I am not reviewing the fact that he was not willing to give a donation for a school event fundraiser. I am reviewing the tone and demeanor of the atmosphere in business. The person was very unprofessional and the fact that he stated, “ It was a no”, was extremely unprofessional. We are trying to support small businesses and get people into the small businesses and the small businesses are not even willing to communicate with someone trying to get customers into their small business. Very unprofessional!

Took about an hour to get our food. The waitress came with our check and only THEN realized that we didn't get our food at all. In between, she didn't check to see how anything was going. Poor service for our visit doesn't come close to how disappointed my family were feeling. More like neglected.

Ordered door dash so I can't speak on service or atmosphere but wow that was the worst breakfast I've ever had out. Asked for home fries super well done and it's almost as if they did the opposite on purpose. They were basically boiled and completely bland to the point where I could not eat them. I don't recommend the sausage links, they're identical to those cheap frozen ones you get from the store that come in the small cardboard box. Super bland hospital food. Wheat toast was atleast edible, good job

I was looking for a bite to eat for breakfast before work, and thought I would try this place out. I walked in the door and stood at the counter for a couple minutes waiting to be seated. However, none of the four waitresses walking around acknowledged my existence. It was not packed, I was the only person at the door, and there were plenty of tables open. I stood there another minute, and the same server walked by me a few times again without acknowledging me; not even a look. I walked right out of the door. I understand if you are busy with a customer, but at least acknowledge patrons waiting to be sat down. I ended up driving a mile down the road to Sunny’s diner and had a very pleasant experience. I will not be coming back.

Went to diner for lunch today and had a terrible experience with the owner’s son over $1.85. The waitress didn’t make herself clear for a substitution I asked for and instead of him listening, like his father would have (who built his business off of customer relationships) along with the shortest waitress got very rude. She started yelling. I felt embarrassed they needed to behave like that over $1.85. It was laughable, but I told them I had no problem paying. I was just expressing that the waitress didn’t properly explain it. A real business person would’ve said I apologize for the miscommunication and I’ll make sure I communicate that with my staff moving forward. I never said I wasn’t going to pay it. Instead, the shortest waitress there started yelling how I perceived it wrong, and he said it actually cost me less than what it normally would have. Neither one of them were listening. I just wanna give a shout out to the waitress with the dark brown and light purple hair. She was the only one who listened and treated me with any type of respect, and properly explained what the other waitress didn’t. I will spend my money elsewhere where the staff is more professional.
