By far the best restaurant from beorne to canyon lake! Always cooked to perfection and when you have the slightest mistake it is always taken care of promptly. Love the service, especially the lovely Hollyn, every server I've had tho has been very knowledgeable answering every question I could toss their way. The chicken and shrimp artichoke is my personal fav, tho I do switch it up from time to time with say the chicken fried chicken, a filet with one of their savory sauces they have to offer, or one of the MANY chef specials of the night. Worst thing about this place is having to make decisions.
Been trying to grab food at this place for a while. They're closed alot but went by today and glad I did. Ordered the 16oz prime Rib Burger (loved it), family ordered Turkey Ruben and 8oz Angus burger everyone loved it and will definitely go back. Iordered take out but the inside is very nice.
Spent a few days at the state park and this place was close by and well worth the stop! We got there right before it got busy- people waiting on our parking spot when we were leaving! Service was great. Food was really good. Glad we stopped!!
This is a family owned business with incredible home cooked food by professional chefs. The atmosphere is cozy and comfortable. They offer a full bar with the best bartender I've ever seen.
Great small town restaurant with a full bar. Great food and service. Very clean facility and super friendly staff which has kept me coming back many times. Very unique decor which leads to a laid back atmosphere.
We had great food and a very friendly server.
The food and service here is just wonderful. Everything is cooked to perfection and everyone is so helpful and friendly. The German plate is absolutely amazing. I take that back - everything on the menu is amazing!
Awesome service and food! What’s funny is our servers name was Dom and today ( august 4 ) is Dom perignon Day! We thought that was a funny coincidence… anyways, Dom was an excellent server and great guy!
This is an enjoyable, fun place with great food and wonderful service!
I have enjoyed the food here twice. It was my chosen place for my birthday dinner. It is not close to my home. The steak was juicy. The service was excellent.
The atmosphere is great, the food is really good and so is the service. Not to mention the inside of the restaurant is very well done
O'Brien's has always been a favorite and we hadn't been in forever. We had friends and town and we met there for dinner. They had never been there before. Needless, they loved it and it didn't disappoint!
Cozy country dining. Great food, Great service and the Friendlyest staff. A "Must" for lunch or dinner.
Excellent food. Great gazpacho as special soup. Hard to find when it should be a summer standard. Chocolate cake and cinnamon ice cream also very good.
Our first time there, the service was awesome, the atmosphere was nice and the food was good also, but to be honest, there was too much pepper to my liking, but it was still really good!
Love this cute place. The food is excellent and staff is super friendly. But if you go on band night, you best make a reservation. This place was packed by 5:30. It was our first time, so we got there right when they opened and luckily we were able to get the only table that wasn't reserved. By the time we were done, they were waiting on our table!! They have outdoor seating as well. Can't wait to go back in the spring and sit out in the nice patio area. We will defintely make a reservation next time!
Great food. Wonderful family owned and operated restaurant. Excellent service. This restaurant is a true gem of the Hill Country and the Boerne/Bergheim area in particular. A full service dining and drinking experience. You can sit at the bar for a few drinks in the afternoon and move onto a table for a delicious evening meal. And you never know with whom you may end up dining, as the illuminaries of the Texas Hill Country enjoy frequenting O'Brien's for an enjoyable evening.
Stopped here on a Saturday for lunch and everything we ordered was fantastic. Service was prompt, food clearly made fresh and everybody was enjoying their experience. Highly recommend their chocolate cake, there’s plenty to share with one order!
Live this family owned and run eatery for its diverse menu and down home cooking. Fantastic wine selection.. gotta try Tim's seafood gumbo and you can't beat the location to nearby communities. Been a fan for 15 years and it just keeps getting better!
Prices are reasonable...2 people appetizer entrees dessert waters was $75. Food was excellent. We had the blackened tilapia and the pork chops. Didn't care for the Brussel sprouts side. Everything else was great. Finished with bergheim brownies and cinnamon ice cream.
O'Brien's catered a luncheon for us in their private party room. The food and service were outstanding! They anticipated our needs ahead of time and graciously kept the food and drinks rolling. Great Hill Country atmosphere are decor. They even have an outside patio area and live entertainment some nights.
Actually, 5 stars aren't enough. We were a loud party of 6. The waiter (didn't catch his name) was outstanding, he didn't interrupt constantly but when we needed something he was there. We made the arrangements with him prior to the guests arriving about wine and appetizers.. served perfectly. The family had a great time, the food was off the charts in cooked and seasoned perfectly. I truly recommend the Austin Hope Cabernet Sauvignon 2017 as it was suggested by the waiter. Outstanding. I made a joke w him at the end of the evening.."I'm going to be taking the steak cook home with me , could you tell him to get ready!" We don't make it often to O'Brien's but everytime its memorable till the next time you go Great job last night. Almost Patsy was sounding good too
Family run, local dining at it's best. I love O'Brien's! The daily specials are always intriguing, but the menu favorites are also great. HANDS DOWN BEST Chicken Fried Chicken EVER! Also love the German plate, Chicken & Shrimp Artichoke, and Timbo's Chicken. I plan ahead and order food EARLY on live music nights because I know it's going to be packed, especially when the outdoor patio is full too. Kendall and Trish know how to make a perfect Cosmopolitan, not too sweet, not too tart, just right!
Love this restaurant. What a treat! I had the best liver and onions I have every had in my life! The staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is very homey. Live music on weekend nights and a warm fire in the fire place make the experience top notch!
Awesome environment, and the food is always consistently good. Very personable experience as owner/family is always making sure we had a good experience.
Beautiful drive through the country to get to this amazing restaurant. Andrew was the best server we have ever had. Great service paired with the amazing food and drinks will make us add this to our rotation of restaurants.
Yeppers, Real Hill Country folks, takin Great care of us Hill county blue hairs. Shady parkin, Pretty Women, Handsome Gentlemen, Clean potties, Great Groceries, & Good bellie wash. Will B back. Love 💖 pat
O'Brien's is a hidden gem on Hwy. 46 in Bergheim, TX, near Boerne. Don't let the former service station building fool you. The food is excellent, as is the service. And the wine list is better than average. If you are anywhere close this is a strong recommend!
We are always looking forward to going to this place because everything on the menu is just that good and it is one of THE BEST places around. I'm surprised that it's not packed all the time. All of their desserts are made in house! We refer Obriens to everyone!!! You're missing out if you pass it by.
A Friday night family dinner for 10 with reservation, went off without a hitch! Our server Destiny was awesome! Everyone had everything they needed and got what they ask for in a timely fashion. Can't wait for our next visit.
It was our first time here. This is a great place and I am so glad I remembered that someone recommended it to me! My chicken fried steak with the cream gravy and hand-cut fries was, hands down, the best I have ever had!! It was tender and juicy, with TONS of flavor! Husband's burger was juicy, flavorful and cooked perfectly! Iced tea was not watered down and had good flavor as well! Will definitely be back and recommend it to all!
I went here a lot when I moved into Bulverde before I went to college at Baylor University. Visiting the old spot two years later; O'Brien's restaurant is a great family restaurant that's been around for a couple decades. The atmosphere is well put together and the food is great. I appreciate the effort the O'Brien's family has put into earning the legacy of being a local favorite in Bergheim.
This was the first time we had been to O'Brien's and what a marvelous hidden gem it was. We were greeted by Pat O'Brien who was so delightful. He made some recommendations for wine pairing and the main course that turned out to be spot on. My husband and I had the special of the evening which was Halibut with a scrumptious sauce that was cooked to perfection. It literally melted in my mouth. Pat also recommended the Basil Vinaigarette with our salad which again was amazing. Can't wait to go back.
First impressions were of a quaint family owned place, very clean and cozy. I was pleasantly surprised with the long menu, with lots of variety of foods to pick from. I had the fried frog legs - which were breaded with a spicy coating that was delicious, cooked to perfection; and the grilled catfish and shrimp- which was perfectly salted and spiced. I enjoyed every bite. I wish I had room for dessert, because it all sounded delicious, but alas, I will have to return for that. A great experience, I will definitely be back! 😁👍
Can be a bit noisy at times. But a truly great neighborhood restaurant run by a super Family. Always good food, varied menu, good wine selection and a full bar. Darn near heaven. Real asset in the area.
Food was delicious. Our server Tracy was very nice and friendly. Will definitely return soon.
Our server Teressa was so awesome, the food was delicious and we couldn't have had a better dining experience. Thank you Teressa and the staff for all the wonderful attention for my husband's birthday dinner!
What a wonderful surprise! I thought I was going into a burger joint but what I experienced was anything but that. The restaurant is very casual. The staff was friendly & helpful. When I received the little paper menu I was shocked to read all of the options. The cocktails and wine offerings were well beyond my expectations. I stopped in for lunch and on my way home returned for dinner. I ordered tilapia with garlic roasted spinach which was wonderful. For dinner I had crab cakes and a very tasty Moscow mule. Seriously, this is a hidden gem!
The atmosphere isn't what I expected from the outside. Western style decor inside. The person I was with recommended the burgers. It was delicious!!! I ordered the 8oz and it was plenty! The staff was very friendly. Oh and for dessert we had peanut butter crunch ice cream... It was amazing!
Such a cozy place. I traveled from Arizona during the week of the 2024 eclipse. Despite the rush, I was seated quickly and served amazing food and drink. It's unfortunate that I don't live in Texas, but if I did I would always come back.
Food was sooooooo tasty! And service was great! I would definitely come back again! I was a part of a rehearsal dinner, so my experience was atypical because we had a limited menu for a party our size, but the chicken, shrimp, and artichoke dish was awesome!
Definitely the greatest combination of superb food, great service and lively atmosphere. My wife and I recently visited O’Brien’s restaurant for a company Christmas party and we were both very impressed. The servers were quick and responsive, the food was better than great. All the while enjoying great entertainment from the band. Not a one man band like you would expect in some restaurants, but a full 4 person band playing great music. We are looking forward to visiting again very soon.
Whenever my wedding officiant business takes me north through Bergheim, we make it a policy of treating ourselves to dinner at O'Brien's. You cannot go wrong with this establishment. It looks like an old gas station from the outside and it probably was in it's history. Once you walk through the door you find a full service bar, and plenty of place to park yourselves for some famous Hill County cooking. Once in awhile they have music on the back deck to add to their allure. My wife loves the Chicken/Shrimp/Artichoke plate. It is delicious. I have made the rounds of the menu, but pay attention to the specials. If they have grouper on it, take it, you can thank me when you see me there.
This place looks very unassuming and honestly it looks like a hole in the wall which is why I've passed it for years without visiting. But the inside completely opposite of what the outside looks like. I'm really glad I checked the Google reviews and decided to finally try this place. The food is really good and the chicken and dumplings are to die for! I definitely want to come back. I just wish the parking lot were a little better set up.
Love this place, warm friendly and great service. The food is excellent, the wine selection is great and the bar can fix anything you want!
The food was delicious. SHRIMP, CATFISH, CHICKEN DUMPLINGS AND CHICKEN WITH SHRIMP AND ARTICHOKES could not have been any better. Servings are huge, restaurant was 1/2 full and it was nice and quiet. Service was great! Will certainly go back.
Oh my gosh, I can’t believe how great this restaurant was!!! It was pretty crowded when we got there, but our server, Holland came over to us right away. She told us the specials and took our drink orders and the drinks were brought back to us very promptly. The food was just incredible!! I had the pork chop with sautéed spinach- just delicious!!! everything was cooked to perfection! I will definitely be going back!!!
Great chicken/shrimp/artichoke dish and tasty burgers. Theresa did a fantastic job with our party of 10. We will come back again!
Summary: Excellent spot to dine - the food, the service, everything! We love this spot when we’re in the area! Tip: Ask for the complimentary bread - it’s amazing!!! highly recommend!!! Details: Tried the chicken fried steak with a twice baked potato and it was delicious- so good! Also tried the Chicken and Shrimp artichoke and capers dish that was flavorful and tasty… I would say that it had an italian flare as do the grilled veggies. We tried the mac and cheese-made in house with 9 different cheeses! Very unique flavor and it was good… personally I could pick up on goat cheese (I think) and that isn’t my favorite, personally but someone else in my group absolutely loved it. Favorites: bread, chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes, sweet potato fries, mesquite grilled chicken. Not favorite: greens, grilled veggies, chicken and dumplings Dessert: the gooey vanilla cake was amazing!! Similar to a blondie. pro-tip: if you like lemon bars… squeeze some fresh lemon on top! 😉
Adorable place. German chicken & dumplings were the best I've ever had - my favorite dish since childhood. So flavorful and full of chicken. Dumplings were homemade. The pan fried potatoes served with the brats were out of this world. Roasted, sliced, flash fried, then seasoned and pan fried with garlic, onions, and layers of seasonings. Bright airy atmosphere with very friendly service from Jennifer.
My husband and I had one of the best meals that we have ever eaten while dining at O’Brien’s the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Our server, Tracy, was friendly, personable, and efficient. The Pescado St. Lucian was excellent. The tilapia was blackened with a flavorful crust on the outside, while keeping the fish tender, and the shrimp succulent and juicy. The creamy cilantro sauce was smooth and herbaceous, and complimented the tilapia and shrimp superbly. My husband had the Pork Ribeye dinner special. The pork was flavorful, juicy, and tender. Overall, the dinner was perfectly prepared, and the staff was knowledgeable and welcoming. We will definitely return!
Chicken fried chicken is the best I ever had. Amazing staff. So friendly. Treated us like family.
Recently moved to the area and drove by the place many many times without stopping. What confused me was the parking lot always looked busy, but the outside looked, well interesting. My experience told me . . . a consistently busy parking lot means really, really good. So, I finally decided to order takeout to give it a try. OMG! Unbelievable food with service and atmosphere to match. Now I now eat there regularly. As the saying goes, Don't judge the book by its cover.
It's been a long time since I've eaten here. I tried the seafood bisque for lunch and it's on par with some of the best seafood restaurants around! Excellent flavor and lots of seafood inside. I'll definitely be back!
Visited Aug 9, 2025. Waitress was wonderful. Great specials. Trout, beef, scallops. Great chicken fried steak and scallops for our meal. Also spinach and artichoke dip. You will pay for this yumminess. $$$$ Enjoy!
I can't believe we've lived in this area for so many years and have never tried this place! What a gem! They've been here 20+ years I think but we've never thought to stop in. That's unfortunate of us since they may not be around much longer. Come visit while you can! We had a delicious seafood chowder to begin with and both my husband and I tried the special fish dish....haddock, I think. Everything was so good! Tracy, our server, was excellent! She described each dish so well that I wanted to try everything! It did not disappoint! Go on a day trip to visit! It's worth the drive!
What a hidden gem of a restaurant with amazing cuisine, great atmosphere and exceptional service. Jenna was our waitress and she did an excellent job. We started with fried mushrooms. Also we had the chicken artichoke with capers in a lemon butter sauce which was so delicious. We also had the rib eye steak which was perfectly prepared. Also we had the pina colada cake which was scrumptious and sweet. They have outdoor seating and sometimes have live music. Overall, we had an wonderful experience. I would highly recommend.
I've been telling my wife for YEARS everytime we pass by that we need to stop. Did not disappoint. Hands down best chicken fried chicken I've ever had. She also said she had some of the best meatloaf ever. Highly recommend the mashed potatoes and gravy to pair the both. Everyone was very friendly as well. One of those kind of places you always drive by but never think to stop. Now I see why it was always packed.
Love this place for great food without the pressure to order, eat, pay, leave and repeat for next guest. We were able to take our time, enjoy visiting with friends and WERE NOT rushed to get out for the next. My steak was amazing as was my wife’s shrimp and artichoke meal. Can’t wait for our next visit.
Hidden Gem for my husband & I coming from Canyon Lake. Wonderful ambience when you walk through the door. Dinner portions would be enough for two adults. We ordered the chicken fried steak & it was by far the best we'd ever eaten. I thought that the eggnog pie was a neat twist of desserts. My husband ordered some homemade cinnamon ice cream & waiter informed us they were out. A few mnts. Later, waiter had brought us some cinnamon ice cream. I believe they made some in a flash. Super impressed by this. I'm assuming it was the owner who gave us a nice goodbye greeting as we were leaving. We will definitely be back to try all the other wonderful menu items. Thank You!
Fish was very good on Cajun rice that was pretty spicy. Great staff always polite and helpful. Love their kids there helping out.
The place is quaint nothing fancy. it has a good selection of variety of food. But for $33 for the ribeye steak it wasn't worth it. The steak was thin and they put too much salt on it. I believe they have different sauces but the waitress did not ask us. I would have preferred the steak just cooked plain with no sauces and we could added whatever we liked.
That’s expensive. But sooo good. Our family ate here for thanksgiving and it was about 30$ a plate - the food was on point and delicious. The only downside was you couldn’t substitute the pumpkin pie for pecan pie. Is it really that hard? Anyways, it was delicious, clean and nice atmosphere- the waiter wasn’t incredibly attentive but served us well!
We went on a Saturday night around 630, and although we had reservations, it was less than half full. Food was good, the chicken-fried chicken was excellent, although some of the other entrees our table ordered weren't the best. Service was fine, the drinks took some time to make, though we did all order cocktails that needed preparation. Would return if I found myself in the area again.
Cozy little restaurant in the country. Lots of rotating specials (be sure to pay attention!). The steak I had was outstanding, but I’d recommend getting any “sauce” on the side. Save room for dessert!
I was in Bergheim today, so I stopped in to have lunch at O'Brien's. I ordered a house salad, and the meat loaf. I decide cheat and ordered the hand-cut French fries for a side. Unsweetened ice tea was my drink of choice. The salad was fresh, and meat loaf and hand-cut fries were good -- I liked everything I had. My server took great care of me. I was very satisfied with the food and the service I received while I was there. I did not run out of ice tea to drink. I'll definitely go back.
Waitress is friendly; food and desserts are good too! The flavor more on the light side! However we don’t get any complimentary breads at all!
Excellent American style restaurant in the Texas Hill Country. Prices are a bit high, but everything is excellent and fresh. Fairly sophisticated menu but also has great prime rib burgers. They pour a good drink. Entire staff is extremely friendly. Fun to eat at the bar. Always crowded for lunch. We try to patronize them as much as possible due to overly strict pandemic restrictions, as this restaurant should not go out of business.
We had a great time with friends at dinner here. Our waitress was amazing and very welcoming. The food was good. My wife loved hers but mine was just okay. To wrap up the evening we got pictures of us and an almost full size cardboard cutout of Jack Palance. What's better than that?!
Food was very good. Service was what one would expect from an establishment such as O'Brien's... Excellent! We've driven past the place for years and finally decided to try it out. Called in a reservation and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Highly recommend it.
We had a reservation at 6:30pm on a Sat pm. The service was adequate but not great. They were out of two different appetizers I tried to order. What time do you have to get there to make sure they are not out of menu items!?
I think only my dish was not good. I ordered the fish and 2 shrimp plate with fries and cole slaw. The fries were under cooked and limp, the shrimp had an odd after taste, the cole slaw tasted good but the cabbage pieces were huge. The fish was excellent, flakey with a nice crispy. Sad about this dish since it was one of the specials. And it did take a while for our food to come.
Food was ok. However waited for over 10 mins before a server to come to the table. Had to ask for a drink refill. Turkey Ruben was not fresh turkey but lunch meat... Only 2 wait staff during lunch on a Saturday! Come on...that is not good business. We heard other people waiting having the same complaints. Over priced. Response to owner - I can understand being short a server. It happens. Business owner to business owner suggestion. Do not sit guests all over the restaurant if your short staff. The 2 server's had to run all over to wait on guests. Crossing over each other carrying big trays of food. My server had guests in 3 different dinning area's. Hard for her to keep an eye on her tables to see if a guest needed anything. Perhaps a bus boy/girl would help. 😊
Poor service, I went there three years ago and it was 5 star quality. On the 18 of this month service was terrible. My friends steak not cooked as she asked, waiter left plate On table and brought new steak, it was tough, no bread on table, soup was cool,it was just a terrible experience. It is a shame for in the past I,have rated it 5
Insane prices considering the quality of the food (mediocre at best) and the size of their portions. I would also expect cloth tablewear rather than plastic (inside). Cheapest glass of wine is somewhere in the 8.50$ area, the wine menu is quite extensive, but ridiculously overpriced! Considering those prices, I'd expect the waiting staff to know their job and be honest about recommendations. We asked whether their Mac 'n' Cheese were GOOD, which was not just confirmed by our waitress, she even "LOVED!!!" them. What they served as Mac 'n' Cheese, however, was a bland mush that may at some point in time have been maccaroni. The concept is pretty unclear too. You would think that a place called O'Briens had something to do with Irish cuisine, roots, something in that ballpark. However what you find is a rag tag menu of different dishes, some "german" meals strewn into the mix as well.
The food is fine. The service is super slow and disorganized, and it's so painfully loud. You can't hear anyone at your table.
Seriously, are you kidding me? More than two hours from seating before food arrived. Food was OK but not nearly good enough to justify their prices. Some was overcooked, some undercooked. We complained to our server and then to the owner and they were largely unapologetic. I will say that there was a good band playing that night (Two Tons of Steel) so they were busy but that doesn't justify this and we wouldn't consider going back.
Very poor effort at fine dining. When you pay $18 for a thin, flat grilled chicken patty and waffle house grade side salad, it seems they think they are something they're not. The wait staff has been trained to diner style eating but I guess that fits with the plastic table cloths. We will not be wasting our money here again.
Our first visit last month was awesome and we were excited to come back. Had a reservation, went last night, table was ready right away, with kids menu and all, great start. Sat for 5+ minutes before waitress came to our table. Took an additional 10+ minutes to get water. She was polite and apologized. Appetizer came out quick. Never got complimentary bread like we were offered our first time. Throughout the night, rarely came to our table to check on us. Ordered a prime ribeye medium rare, it showed up between well done and medium well, waitress acknowledged immediately. Was told because a large group came in, it would take a long time to replace it. I told them I'd just eat it bc I didn't want to wait. She apologized again and said she would see how they could handle it. Then she came back a while later and said manager gave her 2 options. 1. Take the food away and bring another steak. 2. Take the food away and comp it. At this point I had already eaten half the overcooked steak bc I was hungry and didn't want to wait, so I opted for option 2, and then a new steak immediately appeared as she was explaining all this. This steak was cooked between medium and medium well, but I acted like it was fine bc I didn't want to be more of a hassle. Odd thing to me... Why not just comp the steak that was clearly messed up and everyone acknowledged, and then let me finish it, instead of giving me a brand new steak I didn't ask for, that will just go to waste. This review would have been much different, but I guess they just wanted to make up some of the money. Understandable... I guess. Anyways. The service was poor, the $45 steak was overcooked twice, and the management response was just odd, even the waitress thought it was odd (or pretended to help relate to me), but she said that's what she was told. The whole experience was quite a turn off and I don't know that we will be going back again. Bummer! Thought we had found a solid spot.
My wife liked her chicken salad sandwich. My chicken fried steak was so tough I couldn’t chew it into being swallowable. Mashed potatoes were watery rather than creamy. Sent it back and ordered a burger that was dry and flavorless. I ate about a third of it. . Fries greasy and limp. Iced tea was good. Nice, clean place. Good service. Can’t recommend.
Wow. Visited O'Brien's last night with a party of 8 for dinner. We had made a reservation since it was Friday night. They put us in a back room, which was not a problem. What definitely WAS a problem was that we did not see any food for TWO HOURS after we ordered our meals!! Even worse was that, when I sought out the owner/manager (and it was apparently the owner with whom I spoke), he was utterly unapologetic, to the point of being surly. "We told people we were backed up when they came in", he said. (Which they had not.) "Look at all those tickets", he said, pointing at the kitchen. I asked him, "So this is acceptable to you? Customers waiting two hours for their food?" "No," he said--but did not apologize, offer an appetizer--nothing. Just glared at me. That was the first and absolutely the very last time I will set foot in that place.
O’Briens was advertised to be open for lunch from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm on Saturday. My wife and I took the 40 minute drive because we were eager to try the restaurant. We showed up a 1:15 and the doors were locked. It looked like the kitchen staff was out in the back taking a smoke brake. We were disappointed that O’Briens closed early and we weren’t able to eat there.
Saturday night, 3/20/21. Showed up at 8:20 for dinner, party of six. We’re told by the hostess that the establishment was closed. Open 3 hours and 20 minutes on a Saturday night. Brilliant business plan. The sign on the establishment says they’re open until 9pm. We walk out the front door to figure out how to gather at Richter’s (accommodated is easily at 8:45), and the O’Brien’s staff locked the door behind us. Mind you, we weren’t rude, we didn’t raise a fuss, just confused how a business open until 9pm is turning away paying customers 40 minutes early. Just as well, I have a feeling that we might have gotten saliva in our food had we stayed. I’ve read the previous reviews and I have to admit, I was wary of the multiple one star reviews that centered around poor service. Now I know they are true and that Bergheim will soon lose a restaurant that doesn’t care much for business, even from locals.
I wanted this to be good! Every time we drive by it's busy, and I thought wow must be good. I was extremely disappointed. Everything we had was under seasoned or over peppered with flavors from a can or package. The grilled veggies had to have come from a package as it was mushy goo. The blackened tilapia in cream sauce was over cooked and flavorless. My wife had grilled pepper with a side of chicken. Perhaps it's busy because of the bar and alcohol and after a few drinks everything taste tolerable. Just disappointing and a little pretentious and pricey for vinyl covered tables.
This was our first and last time here. The prices where way over priced and the food was not good. My husband had the Cowboy rib eye and it had more fat and bone than meat. I had the Chicken Fried Chicken and it was way over done. Also with these plates you only get one side. You can go to Saltgrass for better food and less expensive than this place. They also gave us corn bread while we waited for our food but it tasted stale. The only thing that was good here was our waitress and the company we went with.
We ordered takeout to be delivered curbside. We arrived 30 minutes after placing our order because we were told it would be 20-30 minutes. Finally got the attention of an employee who said she would check on the order. 10 minutes later, she told us it wasn’t ready. Saw another man come back to his vehicle (curbside space parked), where he had food containers and hurriedly got in his vehicle and left. Our food came out another 20 minutes later. This all happened during a pandemic when restaurants were only allowed to be seating at 50% capacity. Slow service, mediocre food, and high prices. Not going back.
Waitress recommended the fried calamari "it isn't rubbery" like some places. It was very rubbery. Ordered the rib eye steak, medium rare. Told her out was over cooked. "Yeah, we have a new guy in the kitchen. It looks more like medium well". No offer to make it right. Waited 20 minutes in between beers. I don't mind spending money going out, but will never waste my money here again. I guess all these 5 stars are friends and family.
When I moved to Fair Oaks ranch 2.5 years ago, I was advised how great this place was. 2.5 years ago I was treated differently because I was not like everyone else in this restaurant. Same thing happened today. When the only person who greets you does so because this is their job, and not being serviced once again because things never change. This is not how you take care of only "Certain" mothers on Mothers weekend. I never saw Discrimination until I grew up. Its not something you can easily forget. Thank you for the reminder, I won't be back.
They charged us for the sides that were included with the meal!!!! We arrived at 7pm on Friday, we waited 20 minutes for waters. The waitress was good and I don't blame her at all. We then waited an hour for 2 steaks, one medium ($40) and the other rare($25), once they showed up we cut in to them to find they were well done and cold. We talked to the waitress and manager and they offered to recook them. 20 minutes later the steaks came out again, this time mine was still well done(supposed to be rare) and my wife's was more well done than before. The manager checked on us and we told them that we would just like the bill for the drinks we ordered and they said okay, offering us a free dessert. Upon getting the bill, THEY HAD CHARGED US $11 FOR THE SALAD AND BRUSSEL SPROUTS THAT CAME WITH THE STEAKS! When asked about it, they said that they charged us for what we ate! This was our first time going here and will be our last.
