Amazing food, a gorgeous place, fast service, all staff care about each customer and are always so friendly and happy to help out family who can't decide what to eat. We love their recommendations and are served the tastiest dishes every time.
Very modern surroundings, Great service and the most wonderful food. A great variety of dishes too. Definitely go again soon
Awesome food and even more Fantastic service from Mebs & the team at Fat Buddha! Enjoyed an impromptu Friday night out and the staff team were excellent, attentive and super friendly despite the restaurant being close to capacity. We never felt rushed, nice ambience & food made for a great evening.
Absolutely amazing restaurant. Best Indian food I've ever had! The menu is great so couldn't pick one thing! The service was outstanding especially by Mebs such a friendly and helpful man. He recommended the broccoli which sounds a bit odd to recommend but now I know why it's amazing!!
Best indian we have had in ages. Cozy atmosphere and good service. Would definitely go again
Very tasty food and lovely helpful personnel. Definitely worth visiting.
First time coming to the restaurant. Lovely decor nice mellow music and great service. Hadha (hope I spelt that right) was our waiter. He was very efficient, knowledgeable and very friendly. Thank you for making our visit a great experience 👊🏽
Really lovely place to eat, food and service exceptional ,great atmosphere, romantic lighting 😉
If you're looking for amazing Indian food then The Fat Buddha certainly delivers. The owner (an old school friend whom I've not seen for 15 years) has done a great job turning this restaurant into a thriving atmosphere focused around quality. Quality of food, quality of service and quality of experience. You will certainly leave full and with a smile on your face!
Had a Thai takeaway from the Churchill arms and the food was fabulous, could not fault it.
A really lovely family meal last night. The food was delicious (as usual), service friendly and helpful. Thank you for a great time.
First time order via Deliveroo. Don’t normally leave reviews but was blown away by the quality of this. Have tried other Indian restaurants in Berkhamsted and none come close. Looking forward to visiting in person! Keep up the amazing work 🫡
Every time we have come here the food has been excellent, the meat cooked really tender, great ambiance, friendly staff, definitely recommend
Had the best Indian meal of all times here. The onion Bhajis are to die for and the best I’ve ever had. Plenty of meat in all the dishes we ordered. The staff were spot on too, never an empty drink and didn’t have to grab their attention for a top up. The owner was hands on too and had time to chat. I visited with friends who live in Berko, it’s a shame I’m in Devon as I’d definitely be back for more regularly.
Firstly, all parking is on street, there are a few bays across the road from the restaurant if you're lucky, but if not give yourself time to find a spot around the streets; you may also need a 5-10 min walk. We had a reservation so we were shown to our table immediately. The menu is varied and has some old favourites but also some more modern and varied dishes. Took us a while to choose as there is so much choice, and all sounds good. So pick 'n' mix across the four of us, was the best option. Service was attentive, and the food came up in good time. The food was tasty. It was the first time there and would return, but where we live has IMO, a number of Indian restaurants of equal quality, albeit not some of the more modern and varied dishes.
"Yummy yummy yummy yummy" - My partner Honestly though, been here twice recently. Once with a larger party and once as a duo and both times were exemplary. The staff are very attentive and polite. The food is amazing. Portions slightly on the smaller side, but the quality is what you're paying for and honestly it's well worth it. Decent cocktails too (don't have too many, you will not remember the night). All in all, super place, great staff and food. Happily try a third time
Great Indian restaurant. I would highly recommend. The food was delicious, great atmosphere and friendly staff. Will definitely be going back.
Had the most delicious, freshly prepared meal tonight. I have some food allergies, and I was helped to choose some safe options which didn’t disappoint . Tender, tasty chicken and amazingly succulent butterfly prawns. Fabulous food - thank you.
Came for a family meal when my parents came to visit over Easter. Managed to get a table even though it was late notice, staff were very friendly and the restaurant itself is beautiful. I always feel bad about asking is a certain dish is vegan but the server was very helpful and suggested some tasty options I had not thought of. Atmosphere was great and never got too loud. Will be coming back for sure!
Having just returned from a long stay in the sub Continent and trying genuine Indian food I was not looking forward to eating in the so called Indian restaurant but my mind has been changed. The food was second only to the service offered by Jay. He recommended the special Buddha chicken and I'm still licking my lips. Top notch food even better service. Definitely going back...
We celebrated my husband's birthday yesterday at The Fat Buddha. As we are both vegan we weren't sure if the restaurant would cater for vegans, as some Indian restaurants use ghee in their 'vegan' dishes. We didn't need to worry. The food was of a very high standard and if fact it was the best Indian meal I've ever had. We enjoyed the food so much that we will be visiting the restaurant next week. The service (provided by Jay) was superb as well.
Had a meal here a couple of days back. Must admit to being really Impressed restaurant was spotless, food presentation was spot on. Onto menu, wide choice. I had the chicken shashlik rice and Dahl. Really tasty and food sized portions. Not the cheapest, but the quality and quantity reflects the price Will be back soon!
Fabulous food and service, even with a large party such as ours. The waiter gave us helpful suggestions with our food choices and the staff were attentive and friendly. We will be back!
Our first visit and will definitely not be our last!! Staff were amazing, food was absolutely delicious, super clean restaurant. The waiter surprised us with each course and did not disappoint. FABULOUS!!!
The whole experience is fantastic. The service is of a high standard and the owner Shoriff is always making sure that his customers are happy. The food is amazing and I have to say it's the best Indian restaurant I've been to. Very clean and the decor is very modern with a great friendly atmosphere. I would highly recommend.
Have to say this must be one of the best indian resturants I have ever eaten in. Simply superb. Great waiter, very knowledgeable and very cheeky which added to the experience. The food is mouthwatering good. The onion bhajis are the size of a cricket ball.
New set summer menu - usual excellent quality and excellent value for money. Shorif and his team were superb. Cannot recommend too highly. Try summer menu, excellent- 3 courses for less than £25! Chris
Nice staff after warming to us great service. Great food if a little on the expensive side. Some good selections of gin. Seating tight but not too bad nice mood lighting, was a little hot but after the AC was sorted out was ok.
Inviting exterior and the interior is well decorated. Very chic and dimly lit. Menu appeared punjabi style so had high expectations. Mixed starters were nice. Not too sure about the pakora which tasted pretty bland and dry. It was oddly shaped like a fat cigar. Chicken tikka was nice. Mains ordered were a selection of curries from lamb chef special, chicken tikka masala and chicken bhuna. All were nice with thick sauces. However the tikka masala was a little too sweet for my liking. Naan and rice was good. All in all, nice for a curry house and would happily visit again. So much more of the menu i would love to try.
Visited here with a friend. Had the lamb samosa and onion Bhaji to start, taste was average presentation was good. For main we had the Chicken Tikka Masala and Lamb Rogan, tase was good and presentation was good. In general ambiance was good, staff were lovely and food was good but it was a little too pricey for what it was. 4 stars good experience would recommend.
Very nice again food excellent. Service very good too until the end when paying bill! Waited asked how much to put in (look at receipt it!!) I would of tipped when prompted but after he asked that put me off tipping. But again was good service untill that point...Will still go back as food very good
We normally love this restaurant and it is our go-to for Indian food in the area. Unfortunately our take out meal yesterday was not up to the usual high standard we have come to expect. The two vegetable curries we ordered (dansak and bhuna) were swimming in oil and were difficult to eat. Everything else was fresh and delicious and we will of course be back. But please a bit less oil!
A very smart and contemporary restaurant with friendly and attentive staff; clearly very popular by the amount of people dinning. My meal was very enjoyable but my wife's a was overcooked and dry. My overriding experience was that is was too noisy and I struggled to communicate over the table with the other guests in our group, I also felt it was a bit expensive, despite the pleasant surrounding and genrally good food. Overall I wouldn't be in a rush to go back, I think you could eat just as well elsewhere for less and have a better dining experience.
Service is great, food is ok. As many reviews say the food is stellar, we maybe just had an off day. Unfortunately we didn't feel great afterwards so I don't think we will try it again. Would be a great spot for a romantic date.
Nice food, not a bad setting either. I would say the starters are lovely and the tandoori broccoli well worth a try! However the downsides are: 1. The price - quite expensive considering the type of food and even though the starters taste great, the portions are quite lacking compared to similar style food nearer west London. 2. The food is good, but can be quite overpowering. Each dish has a good taste but it's so high in spices that after a while your palette needs something different. We went for a rice dish and two curries but all of them had a bit too much spice (not chilli spice, but actual spices). The garlic naan again was lovely at first, but by the time I got to my third piece it was too strong in garlic paste. Good food in general but could do with some refining.
Attractive interior with suitable service. The place was about 60% full on a Friday night. We were taken to our table and quickly given menus. It didn't take long for drinks and poppadoms to arrive. However, I did have to prompt for our food order to be taken after some time. The food was well presented and well portioned. Unfortunately, the seasoning of the curries did not match the seasoning of the sides and breads, which meant the tastes of the curries were not fully realised. That said, even with appropriate seasoning I don't think the curries would have lived up to my expectation - the price of the food is at the higher end for Indian restaurants in the area, though I have had better for cheaper. The food wasn't terrible by any means, but it was disappointing.
A good selection of Indian food, which is tasty, well presented and cooked to a good standard. Service is friendly and efficient. The decor is contemporary, as are the tunes! There is also a nice bar area at the front of the restaurant where you can have a drink while waiting for a table if you haven't booked. The tables in dining area are tightly packed in and the acoustics can make it very noisy, which detracts from an otherwise good restaurant. We do eat here fairly often, but tend to avoid the busier nights because of the noise.
Inconsistent. Remember raving about the food in the restaurant in the past but sorry to say this time was a real let down. Ordered takeaway and the Chicken Karahi was watery, oily and bland. Chicken had no colour to it. Portions were small for the price.
Went last night as a group of 6 and found it to be a very expensive curry! The final bill was around £400 which included drinks but not excessive amounts. We weren’t given any after dinner mints or complimentary drink at the end which I found odd. My partner and I shared a starter, a side dish and rice but we still had to pay well over the odds I thought considering we didn’t have a dish each. I don’t think we would go back there. The naan bread was nice but the curry wasn’t particularly good compared to other Indian restaurants I have been to. We were recommended the duck starter which they said was amazing but when it arrived it wasn’t anything special. All in all, I would say it’s a nice restaurant but way overpriced!
Food was very disappointing for the price. Onion starter lacked in flavour and masala didn't taste anything like the many I have had, the rice was also very overcooked and mushy. The staff however were very attentive so I can't fault them on that but overall very underwhelming.
Nice atmosphere, a little more expensive than expected. The portion sizes was small (rice and nan) and as a result disappointed. We had chilli chicken and balti, one had 4 peices of chicken the other had 5 (not large). I was on the cusp complaining (I don't normal do), but instead just won't return. Shame as its promising and would have resulted in a positive review!! Service was attentive, menu and curry was above average (I have had many and travelled wide)
The food was really really good. Very tasty. But the reason for the three stars is because of the service. Its appalling. We had to wait nearly over an hour, I know it is Saturday night but that's ridiculous. Once finished and we asked for the bill again we waited and waited and waited. So in the end we went to bar to pay. They need to improve on the service but the food was really good.
Have had several takeaways and eaten in twice. When dining in service has been very slow to the point of complaint. Prices quite high and portion sizes quite small. Much better Indian restaurants in the area.
It’s a nicely decorated restaurant but the food was very bland. Every dish needed more seasoning. It’s also expensive.
Heard this was the best place in berkhamsted, but wasn't impressed unfortunately. We had a meal with 6 friends. Throughout the night we would order drinks and not get them, after two or three times of asking again they would finally appear, sometimes doubled up. The ladies toilets didn't have any loo roll. It took over an hour just to get our mains, with the whole evening of three courses lasting over 3 hours. Glasses were taken that we were using and finished ones wouldn't get taken away even after asking. After pudding the table cloth was changed and we all had to pick up our drinks for this, which I haven't seen done anywhere else before. All in all not a great experience. The food was good though and staff friendly.
Just dined here. Arrived at 7.30pm and didn’t get our starters delivered until 9.20pm. Shocking service, incredibly slow. Food adequate. And very pricey
Unfortunately this is was not a good take out. We ordered Butter Chicken, Saag Paneer, Mixed Grill, Chilli Chicken, Prawn Puri - all super sweet, apart from the mixed Grill, this is not authentic Indian food...on the plus side the take away was really well packaged, portion sizes are decent....perhaps would have been a better experience dining in, but will not be ordering from here again.
We ordered at 6.00 for delivery at 8.00 at 8.20 phoned, the guy didn't have a clue what I was talking about, spent the next 15 minutes at the end of drive looking out for delivery, phoned again, a very nice lady apologiesed and said it was just leaving and knocked £13 off the price. Don't want discount but nice gesture Food turned up at 9.00 stone cold. Warmed it through and served up the 5 of us were in agreement it was disgusting, over cooked, oily, not very nice tasting and damb right disappointing, I won't bother saying what we had as 70% of it ended up in the bin. We have been having take outs or sit ins for a long time at the Fat Buddha but this was by far the worst thing we have eaten by them. I just wish they would stick to quality rather than quantity and stick with what they did best. Will not be going back Ian Pearson
Went here for dinner, main course took over an hour to arrive, two separate dishes were identical in taste, when staff knew we we're a little fed-up with waiting, were ignored, had to find manager to ask for bill, no one asked if are food was nice, really disappointing customer service, when explaining this when paying bill, was just told how great their reviews are by waiter while smiling at our complaints, would never ever go back there, so many great places in Berko, this isn't one of them, unfriendly, unhelpful food wasn't great.
Went there with a few old college friends based on the rave reviews. Well, I was amazed because our experience was not the same as those lovely reviews. 1. We weren’t welcomed into the restaurant. 2. Had to tell them we were here and had booked. 3. Waited up to an hour for our food. While other people around us who came in after guys were being served. 4. Complained to the manager about how long it’s taking for our food whose response was that it was the chefs fault and it will be out very shortly. 5. 2 of the dishes, jalfrezi and madras were exactly the same except for the onions in the jalfrezi. 6. Got the bill, complained about the above to the waiter which fell on deaf ears smiling away stating that all the reviews for the restaurant are really good. There was no attempt to try and swing our mindset like in most restaurants if you’re not happy. A simple offer of a drink or a discount might have helped ease the disappointing night, but nothing. Terrible service, bland food, not listening to the customer. I for one will not be going back and neither will my friends and family. Good luck Fat Buddha because you need it!
