This little historical restaurant is located on the main street surrounded by shops in Big Bear, there's also other restaurants within sight of this restaurant if you decide to change your mind bc the wait is too long. There was no wait when we went on a Saturday around 4pm. The staff was so polite and attentive. Our server was very detailed and everything we ordered came out fast, correct and delicious. I asked to take the rest of my tomato soup and grilled cheese so he brought me a togo cup as well as a container and it was perfect bc we used a coffee cup for my soup so I was able to drink the rest on the way home as we had a few hours drive. My bf got the chicken pot pie and he said it was so good and it looked freshly made. The pies looked so good too but we didn't try them. The prices aren't bad. It was about $35 for our lunch of grilled cheese and tomato soup and a chicken pot pie that also comes with a soup or salad. I highly recommend trying this place especially if you like local historical restaurants you're not going to find at home!

Food was really good, went with a family of two adults and four people. Took about 20 minutes to be seated on a weekday. One seated, it did take close to 10 min for to our orders. Being understanding that it is a busy and small restaurant, I would say it took about 15 minutes or more to get our food once we ordered. That being said, food is definitely worth the wait. Everybody was nice that worked on staff. It is allowed atmosphere but nothing that's out of the ordinary.. definitely would go to again.

Cute spot for breakfast. It's cozy inside. Staff was friendly but it did seem like they were short staffed. The food overall is decent. I had Machaca which is different than I was used to but still good. My wife had the turkey / avocado and it was huge, piled high with fresh sliced turkey. Potatoes were a bit bland as were the fries. I'll definitely return though and try the pancakes or waffles which looked amazing. Overall a good spot right near the village if you want to grab a bite.

We are staying here for a few days and landed on eating here based on the rating and menu. I chose a turkey avocado melt and my husband had a bacon burger. The restaurant was clean and quiet. We ate at around 5 pm. The food came out pretty quick and it tasted good. It was a big portion and we didn't finish it all. I was charged for a drink when all I had was water, but it's no biggie. I'd eat here again if I ever came back. :)

Against my better judgement, after having seen some bad reviews about the way they package their take out orders I took a gamble (wasn’t feeling well and wanted to eat at home) We got CHICKEN POT PIE It was good , a bit pricey, $20 but good portion. But beware..it has mushrooms which I loved but they cut them large so u can easily remove them for those who don’t. I would order it again personally, but not to go!!!! They stacked 3 of them on top of each other (they’re pretty heavy. Needless to say I was pretty upset after having paid $62 for them. We didnt drive crazy and were cautious. They should be putting a lil piece of cardboard in between them. I attached some pics. Also got rhubarb pie (suuuuupppper sour after putting a lil sugar on it, it was enjoyed. Employee with the Rose tats was super friendly btw

We were shopping around the village came across this spot to eat. We arrived around 11:35 for brunch and got seated in around 10 mins (we were a bigger group). We sat down in front of another large group and they were very loud. The server came to grab our drinks and then it took them roughly 30 mins to take our order…. I think service can be improved, overall the food is good but service wasn’t the greatest. The waitress was very nice.

We waited over an hour to be seated, which was fine, it was a busy day. My daughter actually had to go check if we were called and the said we were. We didnt hear it and we were by the door. Once we were seated, servers passed by us at least 20 times with no greeting or acknowledgement whatsoever. After about a half hour of this I asked the server if she was our server and she claim no. They dont go by sections. The servers go in order of people seated, meaning they might have a table in front and back and all around. It seemed she had mostly tables in our section. She went to find our server, who came to take our order and we never saw him again. The food runners were nice and efficient. Once served we never were offered a refill on our drinks, which were mostly ice to begin with. Our table was ridiculous. We, a party of 4 , were seated against the wall. The only table, facing that wall. The food was ok. I had a pastrami. It was served on white toast. It was expensive for what we ordered. $95. We went to Texas roadhouse on the way home, all had steaks for $120! My belief is that it was crowded because of a holiday weekend and not many other restaurants to choose from. Definitely not because of good food and good service. I won't go back.

We've dined here 3 times in the last couple months and I have to say the first 2 times were great. The chicken entrees and pot pie I had were delicious, piping hot, with tasty side dishes. However, the 3rd time we went a couple nights ago, it was a totally different story. My chicken fried steak itself tasted fine along with the mashed potatoes, but the brown gravy was extremely salty. Also, the split pea soup I got as a side was extremely thick, and it was cold, almost like I got the scrapings of the bottom of the pot but the pot wasn't kept at the right temp. Also, the cornbread that came with my dinner tasted strange, almost chemical? My friend remarked similarly about the gravy saltiness and the cornbread tasting weird. I really liked the rhubarb pie I ordered last time and I was planning on ordering a slice again, but I decided against it given how the rest of my dinner tasted. It's a shame because I really like the staff and the fact they have their own parking lot in the village, and they stay open later than a lot of the other restaurants in town. I really hope this was just an off-night for them and the next we dine, the food tastes like the first couple of times we came. It's a cash-only restaurant, which is kind of annoying/archaic but they have an on-site ATM so it's fine I suppose because my credit union refunds out-of-network ATM fees.

As we are not familiar with the area, my husband, friends, and I relied on Google to find the most popular restaurant nearby and stumbled upon this establishment. We dined here for the first time and I ordered Eggs Benedict, anticipating the traditional hollandaise sauce, but it was topped with gravy instead. I'm uncertain whether the waiter informed me of this variation, but it didn't meet my expectations. The bacon was burnt, as seen in the attached picture, and it was the most unpalatable dish I've had, considering the restaurant's impressive 4.3-star Google rating. I fail to understand where this hype comes from. Furthermore, I ordered their famous chicken pot pie for takeout, and it was packaged in a cardboard box that became a mess. As shown in the picture, this was the actual condition after we left the restaurant. I recommend using more sturdy containers for takeout orders to prevent such issues, especially for customers who have lengthy drives ahead. Nevertheless, the waiter provided exceptional service which deserves a 5 star. Thank you for the good customer service!

Wow does the food here suck! The people were nice but the cook uses no spices. 100% guaranteed to have never went to culinary school. Maybe came from the U.K. because there was 6 of us and I tried every single meal and ZERO flavor and everyone else agreed. I can't believe this place is staying in business. I highly recommend anyone with taste buds to stay far away! DO BETTER!

Server was nice enough. Busy, took a while to take my order. Sat at the bar. Food came with what looked like a human tooth (not mine) and a bloody finger print from whoever handled the plate. Server could not explain what it was. Lost my appetite. Comped a small discount for the genuine horror of unexplained bone in a non-bone dish. Bad experience overall, would not recommend.
