Octagon - Palmetto Bluff

Beautiful venue, very good service, interesting menu with wonderful options. Food is beautifully prepared and presented. I had the filet and ordered it at a medium temperature. It was impeccable :-)

The drinks and food are excellent. A good place to have a couple drinks and relax and meet people. It's not the place to watch a game. There's is only one TV.

Excellent lunch at a beautiful hotel! It's worth going into Palmetto Bluff just to see the surroundings, the food was excellent and service was good as well

Lunch yesterday with some friends was delightful. Food was very good. Sam our server was very attentive and a joy. Holiday decorations spectacular. Willingham from the front desk was kind enough to take our picture in front of the Christmas tree. We will always have wonderful memories from our holiday lunch. We are locals and cant wait to return.

If I could give 10 stars, I would. I need to start by thanking and praising Chef Brett, for giving us the best meal we’ve had in a LONG time. The price you pay for the food is WELL worth the food you receive, and the drinks were absolutely top notch. As my fiancé and I had to be in town due to a family loss, Gary (our server) was such a breath of fresh air and a light in the darkness. For a night, we got to forget about the reason we were there and sample some lovely appetizers and made our dinner choices based on Gary’s recommendations. He had pictures of almost everything on the menu, and to be able to see how beautiful everything Brett created was such a gift. We were directed, after dinner, outside by the fire to the s’mores station where we had a small dessert before leaving. Thank you to the pair of these gentlemen in particular for brings some joy and happiness to our SC trip.

Thank you to Gary for our stellar service, I know you said you'd be fine without a review, too bad. Chef Brett came out to meet us when we raved about our grits. Service by Gary was impeccable! A most wonderful experience. Can’t wait to come back!!!!

Absolutely love Octagon! Our server, Fred, was very impressive with his friendly demeanor, attentive service and, overall professionalism. The restaurant has a great vibe and it should be noticed that people were dressed in accordance with the style of restaurant that this is. It’s worth mentioning that a set of parents let their two young sons run amuck and act incredibly inappropriate. I was very happy to see a server instruct those little brats to go sit with their parents! Great job! The shrimp and grits were low country perfect. Seasoned well and plentiful. Visually attractive and well received. The bison strip with peppercorn sauce was a tad dry due to being sliced a bit early. It was disappointing to pay $50 and receive only 2 slices of the strip. The expectation was an entire strip. Now I know for future ordering. It did leave room for banana pudding which is my favorite. It didn’t disappoint! We will return!

One of our favorite restaurants in Palmetto Bluff. We come here for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. All Three meals are great with a fantastic staff.

Kevee was the BEST server. The FOOD was also great. We had little kids with us and Everyone was so accommodating. Try the shrimp and grits, smashburger, fish dip and crackers. Fried. Green tomatoes were delish. Nice beer and wine too. All good!

I ordered the shrimp and grits to-go and ordered a beer while I waited. The bartender was so nice and super knowledgeable about the local breweries. The food is a bit pricey but the shrimp and grits were fire! Will definitely order there again.

Just a stunning property and location… The view from the deck of the bar is Southern charm at its best… But a special shout out to Victor, our bartender. Really professional, fun and super efficient and even kept guard over my credit card when I left it behind! We went back several times during our trip… Great experience

Gary made the night so special. My last dinner in Bluffton before heading home to Houston. Everything was amazing, the Brussel sprouts, the shrimp and grits, the duck breast, tge chocolate cake and the key lime pie. My mouth waters just thinking about it! I cannot recommend it enough. And thank you again Gary for being a fabulous server.

Seafood Cobb salad was enough to split between both my mother and I and fill us up. A little extra dressing would have been great.

Lunch was good the truffle fries were delicious server was great very accommodating .

Very good. Atmosphere is great but took 15 minutes for a bartender to even acknowledge that we were there. Think they were shorthanded. We go there from time to time and never have that happen.

Limited menu but good food.

I’ve heard it’s a great dinner but lunch was not impressive. Limited menu, wait staff was sub-par, certain dishes needed supplemental ingredients. I wouldn’t come back.

The martinis were excellent. The patio setting lovely. The service acceptable but not extraordinary. The problem was that two tables over a family with a PIT BULL were eating while the dog growled and barked. Unacceptable. We paid full restaurant price for waterside dining Al fresco but the dog interference ruined the experience.

We went for a romantic dinner. This is not a romantic restaurant. The noise level is out the roof. The restaurant books large groups that act like they are in their own home instead of a restaurant. The excellent food and service take a back seat to the barrage of rude and exaggerated loud talking.

We went to Christmas market Sunday it was beautiful. We walked to Octagon and we asked if we could sit and have some drinks. Yes in fact we were walked over to bar area. It was beautiful day so we sat outside on deck. We sat and sat and no one came to our table at least 20 mins. Unusual. There were about 6 other small tables being weighted on. We got up and left. Disappointing.

Had an anniversary dinner here recently. Food was nice, but service was very poor. Waitress was rude and never refilled any drinks. When brought to manager’s attention, nothing was done.

This restaurant was definitely not worth the price. I made a reservation for Christmas Day, expecting there to be a special Christmas menu, but there wasn’t. There was no attempt at formality inside the restaurant, either, so we, along with most other restaurant patrons there at the time, were very dressed up for a casual place (e.g. no tablecloths) The prices themselves were, as expected, exorbitant - because this is the Montage where prices are unreal. However, our service was abysmal. The waiter had a real problem with the English language, had no knowledge of the menu, or how anything was prepared. When it came time to pay the bill, he could not cope apparently with using both a credit card and a hotel credit (in the form of a computerized barcode on my phone). It took a full half hour for the waiter to get the bar code read, disappearing with my phone (where I showed him the code) twice. The food was good but not extraordinary, so the $32 seafood Cobb salad, $29 (overcooked) burger, $23 Buddha bowl, $52 for a dozen oysters, $22 + per cocktail…. All of it, including the terrible service and underwhelming venue, left us feeling ripped off and angry. We will not return (and we live locally).

Sadly, it was a very poor experience. We had a 7:45pm reservation and showed up on time, having driven 30 minutes to the restaurant. They told us our table wouldn’t be ready for 45 minutes because the diners ahead of us were eating slowly. (They also mentioned they had called us around 7:40pm, when we were already well on our way, to let us know, but we did not see the call as we were driving.) When the host saw the shocked look on our face, after informing us of the 45 minute wait, she conferred with two other hosts for a long while and they finally found us a table. But it was a huge round table for eight people and we were a party of three. Plus, it was in the back room and sandwiched between two raucous, screaming parties of eight or ten people. The decibel level was off the charts… and the embarrassed host agreed with us. We then asked for a properly-sized table in the main dining room. After much back-and-forth, during which we weren’t able to tell if they had a table for us or not, we left. What a terrible service experience for what is supposedly a five-star resort.

Went for lunch with friends. Came by boat. Very few in the porch part but took a while to get a server. And when she came she was not a happy camper -no smile, no love! Food prices are exorbitant! Ordered the fish and chips - too much batter and not great. Fries were almost not cooked.We split the soup and it was good - but $14.00???? We will not return. Seemed like a lot of people were there for business - so let the company pay!!

They do not accommodate hotel guest so if you're booking at the hotel do not expect to get a table. We had to drive 25 minutes to get food. We walked down at 530 and they couldn't get us a table until 8. Would not recommend staying at the hotel if you can't even get dinner at the resort.

Food is average. Nice waiters try to compensate the lack of professionalism of unfriendly high school receptionists. Whole place seems to be mismanaged. It’s a pity that in such an outstanding high class resort like the Montage palmetto bluff the restaurant stays way below the level that can be expected.
