Little Sage features handcrafted pastas, oven-roasted dishes, and has a cute little bar side separate from the main dining area. It is our new favorite North End res 🍴Their herbed flatbread was so good on its own but when paired with the burrata, it was perfection! The burrata is plated with roasted delicata squash, a brown butter vinaigrette, pepitas, and arugula. 🍴We enjoyed the bucatini ala gricia with leoncini pancetta, black pepper, and pecorino pepato. A huge portion so we brought half home! 🍴The baked fazoletti pasta with short rib, spinach, fontina, and cherry tomatoes was nothing like we've eaten before, and it was delicious! 🍴I really appreciated how our waiter, Michael, double checked my food allergies that are listed in my Open Table account before we ordered. I devoured the paccheri with roasted Joyberry Farm mushrooms, brussel sprouts, and black truffle butter. So, so goooood! 🍴And then to polish off such a yummy experience, we enjoyed a special serving of the olive oil cake which was served beautifully with mascarpone and amarena cherries. We were full by this time and yet somehow the cake disappeared! 🤣 It's a great balance of sweet and savory, and a perfect size for sharing. So the next time you're in Boston's North End and you're looking for a great new place to try, check out Little Sage! I think you'll love it too! Great spot for food before watching a game at the Garden, and we could actually hear ourselves talk because we weren't sitting elbow to elbow next to another table. Great wine selection too.

Great food and very good service. The dishes were well executed, especially the mushroom paccheri and octopus. Service was attentive and they changed utensils with every course, which was a nice touch. The space is small and gets busy, so I’d recommend making a reservation ahead of time. Also it may not be ideal for larger groups.

Don’t hesitate to make a reservation here. The food and service is amazing. The lobster in the pasta was so fresh and sweet. With fresh ingredients and homemade pasta. And if you’re a fan of octopus this is the best we have had. Cooked to perfection⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is the spot if you want Italian food that isn’t just the classics! Super delicious and fresh flavours - I really enjoyed everything we got. For an app we got the “MITAKE MUSHROOM TEMPURA, ALMOND ROMESCO & STRACIATELLA” which was such a nice combo of flavours and textures. The mushrooms had minimal seasoning to let the quality of the ingredient shine through. Our two pastas were: “BUTTERNUT SQUASH CASONCELLI, SAGE, BROWN BUTTER, TOASTED HAZELNUTS, VIN COTTO” and the “PACCHERI, ROASTED JOYBERRY FARM MUSHROOMS, BRUSSELS, BLACK TRUFFLE BUTTER.” Truly enjoyed both of these - the pasta was cooked to perfection. I liked the butternut squash one a little bit more but they were both excellent. I’m not one to gush about service but it’s truly great here. They are attentive without being overbearing and overall make the experience relaxing. My only note is that the space is on the smaller side so it’s a little noisy. However, that won’t deter me from coming back!

Wonderful little spot in the heart of the North End. The pasta was fresh and well made. The burrata with peaches was delicious - a great summer appetizer. They opened the windows so you could enjoy the night air and watch the passersby.

Delicious and pasta that is way more creative vs the other restaurants in the north end Really liked the folded pasta with chuck meat Did not like the dessert We were a group of 4 and we did not finish 1 dessert shared amongst all of us That does not normally happen

A beautiful and high quality dining experience! Loved the spicy lobster bucatini & the burrata/grilled peach on toasted ciabatta. Excellent wine selection, and the ambiance is warm and romantic.

I would like to note that I really enjoyed the bucatini and agnolotti along with the olive oil cake featured below. My friend and I shared both plates. Unfortunately, my friend developed an upset stomach the following day. I did not. Staff was attentive and effective. Thank you very much!

Great new spot in the north end! Ordered pretty much everything on the menu. Portion is very very small. We had 5 appetizers, 4 pastas, 4 mains for 6 people to share and people still left hungry. Service was okay - asked for water refill three times for it to be done. The waitress also did not know the menu very well. Overall, good fantastic food, small portion, okay service

We made a reservation on a Saturday night and thank goodness we did. People walking up were told there was a 2.5 hour wait. We sat on the restaurant side (about 12 tables total) and didn't even know there was a bar side. The kitchen was open so you could see the chefs at work. We started with the octopus and it was good, not as crispy as we usually have. For dinner, I had the bolognese with homemade pasta and it was so light and tasty. My boyfriend had a sweet corn homemade tortelli and it was delicious! We've never had anything like it! Our waitress was very nice, as were all the staff we interacted with.

I’ve been to Little Sage twice, and my food was phenomenal both times! The sweet corn tortelli and the casarecce are incredible, and I will dream about the strawberry basil panna cotta. The cocktails definitely run a little boozy, so just know that if you aren’t someone who likes that kind of kick to their drink. I think this place is a great, light and bright but cozy addition to the North End.

Amazing food! We had the octopus appetizer, lobster pasta, and sea bass. All the proteins were cooked perfectly and great flavor. Everything was served at a great pace. Prices were reasonable, especially compared to other restaurants in the area will definitely come back and would recommend to anyone looking for a good meal in the North End.

An early dinner of.white bean humus and octopus. Simply put- eat here. I am confident all the chef's dishes are worth it

Found on an Eater list and took an early reservation. Nice open restaurant with fantastic food. Serina was attentive and helpful and makes this a great place to keep coming back to. Fresh pasta, seasonal menu, and perfect size servings have us checking the calendar and thinking about coming back. Squash blossoms, burrata di andria beet carpaccio for starters, soft shell crab, spring pea agnolotti, and casarecce with spicy shrimp-all fantastic!

This spot was recommended to us by local friends, and we were nor disappointed! We were running late due to an Uber mess-up and we called ahead to let them know. They graciously held our table (the place was packed!) but we had to wait a few minutes at the bar. We decided to try the mocktail menu. Their cucumber lemonade was the best, most refreshing mocktail I've tasted anywhere, and we ordered more with dinner. It's fairly small, and the place was buzzing with happy diners. We had spring pea agnolotti (with basil, butter & shaved parmigiana), which was fresh and delicious, while the lumache (with roasted mushrooms, snap peas and brown butter pecorino) was simply outstanding. The pasta melted in your mouth and the melding of flavors was a constant delight as we ate. We ended the meal with their ricotta and chocolate zeppoles ( which are not your standard carnival fare!) served with an amazing passion fruit curd. Wow! This spot is definitely on our list for a return visit when we come back to Boston!

The best in norh end a must try . The pasta is the highlight of the menu. Probably the best chicken dish I have ever had.

One of my favorites is Italian food, however, I love the traditional flavors which we enjoyed at Little Sage! We went family style and started with a nice starter, the butternut squash flower with ricotta, then continued with the classic ragu pasta dish, and finished with

Fun spot. Appetizers were absolutely incredible. Lamb kebab with the chickpeas and sautéed onions was an incredible flavor profile. Octopus, Hamachi, and the salad delicious as well. Mushroom pasta was excellent. I really enjoyed the pasta itself. Good wine pairings and nice window view. Great experience.

Maybe I haven’t had good Italian food in a while or maybe it’s because it’s the first contemporary Italian spot I’ve tried in the North End. I don’t know, but this was the best Italian meal I’ve had so far this year. No frutti di mare, burrata, calamari, or even pizza. Very unusual for a North End restaurant. But it felt like they were skipping these and just doing what they’re confident in. We dropped in for an early dinner last week, and the restaurant was surprisingly empty. Snagged a table by the open window, and service was immaculate from start to finish. But more importantly, the food really delivered. We started with the Spanish Octopus, which came highly recommended. Ridiculously tender, almost melt-in-your-mouth, and nicely balanced with the bright acidity of sweet baby peppers. Even the fingerling potatoes were perfectly soft and seasoned. Then the pasta. Personally I prefer pasta that doesn’t rely on too much sauce for flavors. And they nailed it. For me, it was Caserecce > Chitarra > Agnolotti. Spicy Shrimp Caserecce was a classic Southern Italian dish that I love. That spicy piennolo oil did its magic, and here they dialed down on acidity. Instead topped it with bits of olives to give an occasional tangy pop. Bold but clean, with just the right amount of heat. In Chitarra, they only used pork ragu, no tomato sauce. And the natural pork flavors were still really well-integrated into chitarra. Felt like it had been simmered in pork broth. Without any sauce, it did get dry fairly quickly, but it still worked for me. Reminded me of pork gukbap (Korean soup). Spring Pea Agnolotti had a good integration of spring flavors. Minty, slightly earthy, and cheesy. Personally not a huge fan of mint, so I didn’t enjoy it as much, but my friend did. For the entrée, we went for the Soft Shell Crab, which wasn’t something you’d expect to find on the entrée section in an elevated casual setting, let alone fine dining. They originally had cape fluke, but swapped to soft shell crabs. The crab was flattened before being fried, which gave it an even texture and made it easier to eat. More importantly, all the good stuff was concentrated in the center, and those natural crab flavors paired wonderfully with the tangy sauce and capers. The leg parts had relatively thick batter, which gave that lovely toasty aroma. Based on the meal overall, we expected the Basil Panna cotta to hit like the one we had at Tonino. Unfortunately, not as good. Instead of sprinkling the basil sugar on top, they torched it on top (like on a creme brûlée). Panna cotta itself was also not as light. Still a solid dessert. Highly recommend giving them a try if you want something a little different from the usual North End lineup.

Best Italian food my husband and I have had in the US. The food is just amazing and the service is outstanding. Thanks to our server Maddie who made our experience very special.

I’ve wanted to go this place and made it in the late lunch on Saturday during my short trip to Boston. The hospitality was nice to offer the best seat available at that time with recommendations on food and wine. Great quality of time.

A wonderful choice for dinner! Asparagus, pickled shallot salad was the perfect blend of flavors. Fluke was absolutely divine. We ate at the bar and had terrific service. It was loud - truly my only complaint!! Oh and the olive oil cake with cherries was good but not at the same level as the salad and the entree.

Second weekend they’re open and everything was incredible. We ate in the bar area at high top and Ricardo waited on us. He was the man. We had the salad to start - incredible, everything was very fresh. Also had the herbed flatbread which was a great starter as well. I got the ragu type of pasta and the pasta was incredibly fresh and perfectly cooked sauce was pretty good. Wife got the chicken in brown butter sage sauce and it was unbelievable, for those people who think ordering chicken at a restaurant is not a good move. Well here it definitely is. Cocktails were good, wine list is fantastic and service was great. Would recommend also as a somewhat local don’t want this place to get blown up.

Experience like no other! This place is a true gem and was the best meal I have had in the North End! They innovative approach to Italian cuisine is refreshing and should be the new standard for others to follow. A++ quality food, Service, and atmosphere. Can't wait to go back

Came on a Saturday night, service was excellent. Food was incredible, one of the best meals we have had in the North End. We had the butternut squash pasta and the bucatini ala gricia, which were both amazing.

An absolute 5 star restaurant! We met for a Saturday afternoon lunch and ordered half the menu. There was 5 of us and for apps we got the Spanish octopus , the mushroom tempura, which was my absolute favorite and the tuna carpaxcio. Everything was delicious and cooked to perfection. Then we decided to order 3 entrees and share them. We ordered the butternut squash ravioli, gionnone chicken and the jumbo shrimp. The chicken was my favorite. The flavors that it was cooked in we're phenomenal. The ravioli was cooked perfectly and I was loving the chickpeas and tomatoes that went with the shrimp. We finished our lunch with the olive oil cake and the bread pudding both were out of this world but my fav was the bread pudding. I had a decaf espresso martini that was made perfectly! We sat at a table in the bar area and had the best time eating and enjoying each other's company. We'll be back soon, we'll try the other dishes next time 😂

The Crab Gnocchi and Bucatini ala Gricia were delicious, memorable, well balanced, and the perfect serving size to hit the spot after working up an appetite. Atmosphere was warm and intimate, and the aroma pouring in from the kitchen was very inviting. Great place in the North End if you’re looking for richer, nuanced flavors that lean toward authentic Italian dishes, rather than traditional Italian-American food.

We stumbled upon Little Sage and WOW, absolutely incredible. I don’t think I’ve ever had food this delicious. The bucatini pasta blew our minds, the salads were fresh and flavorful, and the octopus was perfection. The service was warm and attentive without being overbearing. We’re only in Boston for two days, but we loved it so much we already made a reservation to come back tomorrow. Highly recommend this place is a gem!

We had a great date-night at Little Sage. Unique menu, cozy atmosphere, and excellent waitstaff. We enjoyed the warm olive appetizer, brick oven chicken, gnocchi with lobster, and olive oil cake. They are very accommodating to allergies. We will definitely be back.

The best Italian I've had in North End. If you want a trashy huge portion "Italian" meal like a lot of the restaurants in North End this isn't for you. If you want delicious fresh pasta with normal sized portions in a lovely intimate buzzy atmosphere and friendly/helpful service then this is for you.

We had a group of nine ladies and we all LOVED our meals! And we all loved Valeria, our server, who was amazing! My personal FAVORITE was their Giannone Chicken! Highly recommend and we will be back…hopefully soon!

We visited on Saturday and the restaurant was packed and quite chaotic. We ordered the octopus, kale pasta, and squid ink pasta. The ingredients were very fresh and everything tasted well-prepared. The kale pasta isn’t quite like a basil-based one — it has a more earthy, raw flavor, which some people might really love. You can tell there’s finesse and thought put into the dish, even if it wasn’t exactly to our personal taste.

S
Sylvia Yu

I came here mainly because the pasta selection looked extensive. Unfortunately, the pistachio pasta I was most excited about was no longer on the menu, so I went with the lobster gnocchi instead. Between the two pastas we tried, the gnocchi was slightly better than the squid ink pasta. The squid ink pasta had a well-balanced texture, but the seasoning was quite mild and a bit boring overall. The braised oxtail was very tender, but there was surprisingly little meat. The dish was dominated by cranberries, which made it unappealing for me, and it ended up being my least favorite item. The grilled octopus appetizer was actually the highlight of the meal and the only dish I genuinely enjoyed.

S

Amazing food, service & experience! They are attentive, the portions are great and filing. The staff explains you the dishes well and suggests pairing. The burrata salad was creamy with its brown butter sauce. The pasta were very well done.

A lovely, modern Italian spot! We got seated at the cutest table by the open window, which was welcomed on such a lovely day. I made a reservation earlier in the night. Perhaps not necessary for a 5pm dinner but I think a must if you are eating later than that! Our favorite dish (not shown) was the Burrata with butternut squash. So yummy!!

A
Ana de Alba

Recently opened, food and service was really good. A table of four, we had the hamachi, the baby green salad, the gnocchi, the ravioli, chitarra, roast chicken, and olive oil cake. While everything was good, I would come back for the sage butter chicken -it was superb. The only thing we didn’t like was the gnocchi. It only has ten tables and the bar section is separate. Servers are very kind.

M
Michael Chmielewski

Use to frequent locale when we lived in the north end. we stopped by on a Monday after reopening/rebranding with mild spring weather and noticed open windows and a bar! Food is amazing! Smaller portions but did not leave hungry. We had the little neck clams and baked fazoletti which were so flavorful! Excited to come back for more pasta! Loved sitting at the bar and enjoyed the drinks and wine.

J
Jen Monderer

I’ve been here twice now and the food is seriously so good. The handmade pasta is great, and the octopus is a must get. I also love that they keep changing up the menu, so there’s always something new to try. The only downside is that it’s really loud like, hard-to-hear-your-friends loud. It can get a bit overwhelming.

V
Victoria Burghi

It's sad to see how little pride some Chefs take when plating ther food. A simple salad can be plated with a bit of imagination and care, and not be thrown on plate. I got two salads ( burrata and kale) that looked almost the same. They looked like some inexperienced cook put them together. Someone recommended this place and I had great expectations. I also had the olive oil cake and it was good. It could have been great if they had warmed it up and hadn't overwhip the tastless mascarpone cream. Very sad to see a new place full of potential be this mediocre.

a
allieljones

Honestly, I was super excited to try this place and overall, it was nothing to write home about. The food lacked a lot of flavor. The asparagus salad was the only thing our group really enjoyed. Drinks are limited and lack creativity. Waitstaff seemed like they would rather be elsewhere. Sadly, not worth the time or money.

R
Roxanne Salvador

Decided to make a reservation for dinner with friends after stumbling upon it on a stroll around the North End. I had high hopes since the place looked busy a few weeks back and it looked different from the usual restaurants around the area. The only dish that stood out for me was the grilled octopus. Otherwise, the food was lackluster. Drinks were nothing special or creative. Our server would rather be somewhere else than work that day. I would recommend maybe having a glass of wine and that octopus dish at the bar.

G
G P

waitress was really nice but the host has a terrible attitude. we walked in he didnt say a word, i told him i had a reservation and my name he points to a table and puts down the menus without even saying a word. pasta was gummy and overcooked, wayyyy too fishy. also everything is overpriced. trendy done terrible. only pro: cocktail had a heavy pour and waitress was sweet.
