The place was phenomenal. The food, the staff, the drinks, the atmosphere. Bloody Mary's, strawberry mojitos, and apple cider toddies were killer. I can not imagine why anyone would give this place anything less than 5 stars... Well worth the 1hr wait on a Saturday morning, make a reservation atleast a day in advance, but still expect a wait.
Fantastic brunch!! Had about a 20 min wait in a Friday around 1pm, totally worth waiting. They also take reservations. Could have skipped the boozy s’mores shake, it was pricier than it was worth. But the food!!! So so good. Massive servings, definitely perfect for sharing. The bourbon banana French toast was so thick and perfectly cooked. The pancake burrito was super flavorful. Go hungry!
Just had an EXCELLENT brunch here! Definitely make a reservation since it was busy! They’re known for their banana bread french toasts and I can confirm it was amazing. I loved my make your own omelette with veggies and Boursin cheese and I would also recommend the ECBLT—simple, but delicious. Their menu has so many great things to choose from that we even got short rib grilled cheeses to go which were also 10/10. Make the time to come here! Let’s talk about it. TikTok said, “Go.” Boston said, “Bet.” My arteries said, “Are you sure?” And honestly? Worth it. We walked up to North Street Grille and immediately noticed how small and quaint it was. Cozy. Intimate. The kind of place where you either get lucky with timing… or you’re standing outside watching everyone else eat. We got there just as a table of four cleared out. Divine alignment. We were asked if we had reservations (didn’t even know that was an option), but Alana — our waitress — stepped in with energy that could power the North End. She happily sat us, dropped the menus, and gave us a moment. Did we look at them? Absolutely not. By the time she returned, we had talked through half of life and none of the menu. But when she mentioned fun breakfast drinks? That was it. Order discipline left the chat. We started with: A gingerbread hot chocolate (holiday in a mug — topped with whipped cream and a little gingerbread friend perched on the side) A bourbon banana milkshake (dangerous. Creamy. Grown.) A mimosa flight (because moderation is subjective) And then the food arrived. The bourbon French toast was thick, golden, lightly crisp on the outside, soft and custardy inside. Powdered sugar snowfall. Warm syrup. Sweet but balanced. Paired with that bourbon banana milkshake? Listen. That combo needs supervision. The short rib hash? Rich, tender, deeply savory. Crispy edges, melt-in-your-mouth beef, perfectly seasoned. Not dry. Not greasy. Just indulgent in the way brunch should be when you’ve decided calories don’t count before noon. We also ordered: Classic French toast (executed flawlessly) The famous burrito pancake (sweet and savory in one bite — chaotic but intentional) And then — without warning — complimentary banana bread hit the table. Warm. Moist. Soft crumb. A subtle sweetness that didn’t scream for attention but still made its presence known. See photos for texture. Everything came out hot. Everything was plated well. No long wait between courses. No forgotten refills. But let’s talk about Alana. Her energy was so vibrant we genuinely thought she was the manager or owner. She wasn’t. She just loves what she does — and it shows. Attentive without hovering. Engaging without forcing it. She matched our energy and elevated it. That matters. Would I go back? Without hesitation. Date night brunch? Yes. Friend trip must-stop? Absolutely. Solo sit-at-the-bar and romanticize your life moment? Also yes. This isn’t a quiet, diet-friendly oat bowl situation. This is robust. Flavor-forward. “Loosen your jeans” brunch. Boston, you did not disappoint. Eat at your own risk. But go hungry.
Always a delicious gem. Try crab tacos 🌮, they're amazing. Stop in and say Hi! To Alana, she's was our amazing waitress, prompting us to eat breakfast two days in a row because of her friendliness, and great recommendations.
Great food and friendly service, we were able to get bar seating as soon as we walked in on a week day. Food was excellent and sooooo filling. French toast bites were great as was the egg sandwich. Highly recommend!
We had to wait a bit before we were able to eat there, but we were able to walk around and they texted us when our table was ready. The restaurant is small and cramped, but it is all worth it for the AMAZING food. I got one of their specials - Thanksgiving Turkey Sandwich with sweet potato fries and it was absolutely what you want for Thanksgiving. I also got a side of the Crudite French Toast - absolutely the best thing I ate while in Boston. The picture is just a side of it, so it would be even bigger as a whole entree, but you don't need more than a side. It was rich and creamy and sweet and perfect. I am not normally a person that orders french toast when I go out to eat, but I am so glad I did. Everyone loved their food here and some even tried the espresso martini flight and really enjoyed those too.
Had brunch on Friday, we didn't do a reservation so had to wait- she said 15 to 30 mins but was only about 17mins. They were slammed so it made sense, she got us in and sat very quickly at the bar. Bartender was great, drinks and food came out very fast. Smaller places so kinda cramped and noisy but you can still enjoy yourself and have a conversation. We ordered the banana bourbon french toast and the breakfast burrito. WOW!! they were both fantastic, portion sizes were very large as well. Definitely a must visit when in Boston
The space is tight and there was a wait of about 30 minutes but it was definitely worth it. The free banana bread was such a pleasant surprise. I had the chicken and waffles. I could’ve used a little more seasoning on the chicken and waffles but they were still yummy. My husband had the French toast and 1 strawberry pancake. He had to hold himself back from eating it all. I appreciated the fast and pleasant service too. Overall, a great experience and this will definitely be a stop when we come back to Boston.
You are in Boston you are tired and want to star off your morning late but still craving breakfast well look no further, they have the best brunch in town everyday of the week. Some reviews were bad but dont let that deter you ... yes the place is small (so prep yourself to not bring too much bulkiness that day lol) but we had great conversations with the other guests. The service was great and the food was so so good !
Best Brunch of Boston! Compact diner vibes in the North End with amazing dishes! The brunch options are very creative, delicious, and filling. Fresh and in house made Banana Bread severed generously before serving main course meals. The service is kind & efficient, fast paced environment. They’re always busy…it’s a MUST to have reservations and your whole party must be on time. Lines out the door, especially on weekends, for a reason! It’s one of my favorite places to bring people for an experiential brunch.
avoided all the tourist trap stalls open in quicy market/fanueil mall marketplace and decided to check this place out for the 'best brunch in boston'. this place is really popular, went without a reservation and had to wait 15/20 mins on a thursday morning but they do take walk ins which is good. really expansive menu with plenty of options to suit anyone, we tried the french toast breakfast sandwich and the check and waffle sliders, both were pretty tasty and came with some well seasoned potato wedges on the side. service was a bit slow but it was super busy in there so thats to be expected
This place was absolutely amazing! It was so good that my wife and I came back here every day for the entire week that we were in boston! The food was fantastic and the people that work there were really freaking cool! The banana bread is Bonkers delicious and the lobster roll sliders were packed with so much Lobster meat that I usually became addicted! They have an amazing array of pancakes, French toast and eggs benedict, my favorite being the lobster Benedict. You have to try the banana bread french toast!! It's going to blow your mind!!
North St. Grill is the kind of spot that really ties together the Boston experience. The portion sizes are generous—right up my alley—and the overall vibe made it a fantastic stop. We only waited about 10–12 minutes, which was more than reasonable given how popular the place is. It’s definitely a tight and cozy dining area (a classic Boston setup), and while I personally would’ve liked a little more elbow room, they make it work really well. Honestly, the quality of the food completely overshadowed that minor detail. The French toast was absolutely to die for, the California omelet was incredible, and the eggs Benedict was some of the best I’ve ever had. I wish I could remember our server’s name, because the service was excellent from start to finish—friendly, attentive, and on point the whole time. All in all, North St. Grill is a must if you’re in Boston. Great food, great service, and an experience that feels both local and memorable.
Bustling little cafe with awesome food choices! If you have a flexible schedule, I recommend reserving a day or two in advance, but if you want your choice perhaps 3-5 days in advance to be sure; but definitely recommend reserving rather than walking-in. It's quite tightly packed and they get folks in and out, but no rush to the patrons. We decided to enjoy some more of their extravagant offerings: 1) Lobster Benedict (9/10): no complaints, lobster cooked to perfection and the hollandaise sauce, mm mm mm! The potatoes had a great texture and overall flavor, but were a bit salty. 2) Lobster and asparagus omelet (9/10): It might seem bland, but it's an easy yet rich twist to an omelet! Again, only lost points due to the salty potatoes. 3) Pomegranate champagne (10/10): only wished I could have had more! 4) We got a few pieces of banana bread as a very small appetizer, but even those few bites were dense in both physical attribute and taste! Loved it! Overall, highly recommended and will visit again when we return to Boston!
North Street Grille is hands down the Best Brunch in Boston! The food is fantastic! Banana Bread, to die for. It has such a fun cocktail list with alcoholic breakfast specialty drinks. I love coming here! Yes, there is always a line BUT it’s so worth the wait! Highly recommend any of the eggs Benedict dishes, chicken and waffle sliders, and their Lemon Ricotta Pancakes!
Let me tell you this place is worth the wait. Put your name on the list and grab a coffee somewhere because you’ve got to try this. Best brunch I’ve had in eons and I just got back from California. Absolutely try the banana bread French toast and the eggs bene!!!!
Make a reservation!! They’ll seat you at your scheduled time and constantly communicate out the front door while you wait. We had a group of 4 and sat at a booth. Very comfortable, menu can be accessed via QR code. We tried the mimosa flights, the espresso martini flights, and the spritz flight. I had the Benedict in bed. My friends had other Benedict’s on the menu. Everything was delicious and we understand why they received so much popularity! Staff was friendly and timely, but nothing to write home about. Worth a visit.
Great little spot for brunch! A little cramped but fine if its not busy. Food was A+++. Complimentary banana bread was amazing!
Great spot for breakfast. Decided to try it based on proximity to the hotel and good reviews and boy was I glad we did. Service was friendly and on point. Food came out quickly and was better than expected. The portions were large and tasty. The breakfast sandwich on a toasted brioche with sausage, cheddar eggs was so good I almost finished it. The breakfast burrito, French toast egg Sammy and pancake were also awesome. Coffee hit the spot. If I'm ever back in the North End of Boston, I am coming back here for breakfast.
From the very first sip of the pomegranate martini, I knew I was in for a treat—perfectly balanced, a little sweet, and not the least bit overpowering. I’ve explored many of the menu options, and not once have I been let down. The banana bread, served warm as a complimentary starter, nearly transported me to another dimension—it’s that good. Coffee lovers, take note: the brew here is excellent, made even better with top-tier Domino sugar. Every bite feels indulgent, and every visit feels like a celebration. The staff? Absolutely wonderful—gracious, warm, and attentive no matter where you’re seated. They really make you feel like the guest of honor. I have a ravenous appetite, but this is the only place that’s ever managed to defeat me, and I couldn’t be happier about it. I bring every out-of-towner here because it’s just that special. Just a heads up: make reservations if you can, and definitely consider a ride share. Parking 🅿️ is almost nonexistent, though there is a small paid lot nearby called Wharf Parking that usually has a few open spots.
Food was fantastic. Service was even better shout out to Melanie for being the best.
Best Brunch Boston is such a wonderful spot! The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the service is consistently attentive. The breakfast was absolutely delicious — definitely one of the best brunch experiences I’ve had in Boston. Something that really caught my attention was how creative and dedicated the bartender, Duncan, is with his drinks. I noticed him preparing a smoothie that isn’t even on the menu, and it was beautifully decorated with a little dolphin design. It really showed how much effort and creativity they put into making drinks special here. It’s those kinds of thoughtful touches that make this place stand out — not only is the food amazing, but the staff also goes above and beyond to make the experience memorable. Highly recommend!
We are so happy that we stumbled into this breakfast restaurant! The chicken and waffles were perfection! Cinnamon pancakes out of this world! 🌎 icing on the cake was the amazing service… super nice and you can see how much they love working here. Advice… make reservations and don’t eat for 24 prior to showing up because you need a lot of room to eat! What a great experience
Everything was very good, the service was fast and attentive, the restaurant itself doesn't have anything particularly special about it.
An amazing spot that we never skip when heading into the city. The menu has something for everyone - reservations recommended! ❤️
By far one of the best breakfast places in the city! Hands down value for your money, can be a bit of a wait during busy meal times but definitely worth it.
Great brunch spot in a wonderful area! Highly recommend making a reservation it can be very busy but tables turn fast. The interior is tight but electric, the space is small. Service was quick, and the food came out fast with large portions. We took some home. Everything we ordered was fresh, flavorful, and well-prepared. Fun atmosphere overall—worth the visit!
It was really busy, and we had to wait for an hour or so. The space is really tight in there, so if you want to avoid the crowd don’t go during brunch time. The banana bread is must order, but I highly recommend getting the syrup on the side (that’s what I did the second and was so much better). Went back a second time in the afternoon and was seated right away. All in all loved the banana bread and the potato wedges believe it or not. Everything else we tried was alright, not as amazing as the banana bread. Highly recommend👍
This place had an hour wait. It’s just that popular. The hostess was kind and kept every thing running smoothly. The food was delicious and the drinks are like desserts. I would absolutely come here again for breakfast. My family and I were all satisfied. Bonus points…it’s very close to several cool tourist attractions, including the aquarium which was were we visited after having breakfast at North Street Grille.
I visited North Street Grille on a trip to Boston in 2019 and still remember how delicious it was! So, when I was visiting Boston for a day on a cruise, I immediately knew where we were headed for brunch! It was just as fabulous as I remember and the staff were lovely. If you’re looking for brunch in Boston - this is it, brunch served 7 days a week!
Best breakfast in Boston! Such a small restaurant, so get there early. I love how they give you banana bread for a breakfast “appetizer”
What a cozy fun spot! The food deserves a 5-Star rating. Check out what we had in these photos. Burben Banana French Toast was amazing! TIP: Calling for a reservation is best as Open Table may not show availability.
Great spot. Small inside could be a wait but we got right in. Worth whatever wait it would be!! Excellent all around.
The complimentary banana bread is delicious and the portions are very generous. Adding the peppers, onion and cheese to the home fries is a tasty bonus. We would highly recommend the Aussie sandwich and the Sweet and Salty Sandwich. We can hardly wait to go back!
The brunch was absolutely amazing! I had the chicken and mini waffles with bacon omg, that meal was beyond delicious. The chicken was crispy and juicy, the waffle was soft with just the right sweetness, and the bacon added the perfect crunch. I also enjoyed a peach Bellini that was so refreshing and smooth the perfect brunch spot. The service was top-tier, and the overall vibe made the whole experience even better. I’ll definitely be coming back — 10/10 brunch spot!
Absolutely outstanding! Highly recommended. The bourbon banana bread French toast was to DIE for...literally the best French toast I've *ever* had! My wife and I came back the next day and had the breakfast tacos and a blueberry pancake, and both were amazing. The food here is phenomenal, the service is fast and friendly, and the prices were very affordable. This is the only place I'm going for breakfast next time I'm in Boston!
The food and service were great we walked in without a reservation or the ability to get one and they were able to accommodate us at the bar. Everyone was very friendly. We were served a sample of their famous banana bread with our coffee which was excellent. We ordered a variety of food but all of us ended up with a side of the corned beef or short rib hash which was homemade and delicious. Its a typical cozy setting in the North End.
North Street Grille is a nice brunch diner. However a few things happened during our experience which made the experience fall short from 5 stars. We made a brunch booking for 2 pm on Sunday (11/9/25) and for our booking we noted that it was for a special occasion, our wedding anniversary and asked for anything to be done to just make the day extra special. Nothing was done to accommodate this request, not even acknowledged. This was a shame and a missed opportunity. Regardless, the food was good - we ordered the chicken waffle sliders and the special blueberry cheesecake french toast. They both tasted very nice, portions were large but we managed to get through both whilst sharing with each other. A critique to the chicken waffle sliders was that it became quite dry, it was meant to come with siracha mayo of some sort but it was quite sparse, adding hot sauce just about made up for it. The blueberry cheesecake french toast was really nice and sweet, it could pass with the extra maple syrup because adding that makes it quite sickly. Overall the food was nice and portions were large. Overall service was good, we were welcomed upon our arrival, guided to our seats and our waiter came by often offering refils for our drinks and checking in. Next, the atmosphere, this place is just too crammed and busy. To get to my seat it was quite a squeeze because the tables were so close to each other. Removing about 2-3 tables from the seating plan would have made the arrangement more comfortable for both staff and guests, literally only one person could fit in the walkway at any given time. Another note, because there is so many people, music and kitchen in such close proximity, it was quite loud, so having a conversation was quite difficult. Overall we rate North Street Grille 4/5 stars, the food was nice, atmosphere quite busy and cramped which isn't great for a date but maybe better for brunch with friends, service made up for the experience.
We looked for a place to have a late breakfast before the days adventures and decided to get a reservation the day before to give them a try. The restaurant was busy but not crazy like during a weekend. We sat right away and everyone from the host to our server were friendly and attentive. The restaurant is small (as with most cities with small places) but we did not mind. As for food we ordered the scrambled and cheddar on a croissant, 2 eggs with turkey sausage, mixed greens (extra) and a pancake (extra), latte (they only have regular milk) and a regular coffee. We did not get to try their complimentary piece of banana bread, but the food was fresh, made to order, flavorful and a good portion. Definitely give them a try for a good breakfast in Boston!
Me and the wife got married, and I decided to treat her out to brunch to celebrate. The place is a bit small, so we sat at a tiny table – people were arms lengths away from us. We didn't let that ruin the experience. There was a waiter that was being trained for the first time in which she took our order. I ordered the old fashioned as usual and I got the "Mashed Potato Omelette". Hands down the omelette made it to the list of "top omelettes" for sure. The old fashioned was most excellent as well! Very sweet, and I was indeed feeling marvelous. My only issue is that when the waiter came to check on us, she kept checking on a table right beside us instead of us (we got there first before that table). Soooo..it kind of looked bad on the establishment with the waiter continuing to do this disrespectful act. Eventually we flagged her down to get our check. Probably won't be back and won't get a 5 star review from me for that particular reason. Good food though. Ratings Mashed Potato Omelette, 10 out of 10. Old-fashioned, 10 out of 10.
Very small and tight - make a reservation for the weekend! We had great service. The breakfast sandwich on the English muffin with bacon was fine, not great. My husband loved his lobster benedict.
If you're looking for a great breakfast spot in boston, you have to come here. North Street Grille has a unique menu that gives everyone a chance to find something they'll love. As soon as I eyed that menu, I knew that whatever I was getting would have to have corned beef. I have never had corned beef in an omelet, but now that I have, there's no turning back. The omelet was packed with corned beef hash and smothered in cheese. It was such a delicious mixture. I did add some hot sauce to it, but I just tend to enjoy everything with some spice. My wife ordered the Benedict in bed which was an interesting combination. Basically, it was a ham and cheese French toast topped with eggs Benedict. My wife absolutely enjoyed this delicious combination. We also ordered the homemade orange juice. If you go, this is a definite must. Not only is it such a delicious and fresh juice but it is also a large portion. Highly recommend and will be returning.
To avoid the line, my friends and I decided to get take-out and eat it at the Christopher Columbus Waterfront Park on a very cold day. So, you should read this review knowing that we did not eat the food to its full potential (and I am also keeping this in mind as I rate the food). The interior looked quite small, which is a common theme in the North End. There was a shelf at the entrance with all of the pick-up orders for you to grab and go. I got the chicken & waffle sliders and banana bourbon French toast. The chicken could have been more moist on the inside, but the crunch on the outside was nice. The waffles and potato wedges were average. Overall, it still tasted good, especially drizzled with the syrup, but I probably would not order this again. I liked the banana bourbon French toast more. I got a generous container of the banana bourbon sauce, which I appreciated (and ultimately only used half of it). You could definitely taste the bourbon, but the sweetness from the bananas kept it in check. There were also banana slices in it. The French toast was soft and did not have much flavor on its own. The sauce paired well with the chicken & waffle sliders as well.
I came early (9:15a or so) on a Sunday in hopes of a short wait and only had to wait 15 minutes or so. I got the banana bread french toast (banana bread made into french toast) and it was delicious! It’s definitely very tight inside the restaurant, so was a little uncomfortable to not bump anything while trying to get around. Their coffee is fine, about what you expect from a diner. Their french toast and pancakes were definitely the stars of our meal.
Your pockets will thank you! The portions are decent and the prices are reasonable. I rated North Street Grill 4 stars mainly because I had reservations and still waited over 15 mins for a table. The hostess was pleasant and well as the staff. The overall space is small but cozy and the music was loud enough to enjoy but low enough for conversations to be had. The menu is extensive so be ready for a good variety of breakfast foods and drinks. I had the espresso martini, cinnamon roll french toast, and chorizo hash. The toast was on the softer side but was delicious not overly sweet and the martini was good enough to order two. The hash was on the sweeter side due to the red peppers but after adding Sriracha it was spot on. Everyone else cleared their plates and left satisfied. Overall I enjoyed my experience. I would definitely recommend making reservations however; going first thing in the morning or towards the end of business to avoid wait times during the weekend.
Another very nice small breakfast/brunch location in the north end. Very tight so reservations highly recommended, othwewise plan on waiting outside. Food was great all the way around. And ... fresh made chocolate milk. Not sure why they didn't come up as a Trip Advisor recommendation in my search. It was a local that recommended it.
I had high expectations for the food, but the crab Benedict wasn't as fresh as I thought it would be. You can't fault the staff and ambience though. Highly advise to book ahead as you could wait more than an hour depending on the size of your group.
Very nice place hidden from the city is this little spot where you can find comfort breakfast and good food. I like the breakfast that I picked which was a sandwich egg bacon cheddar cheese. I recommend you come here at least once just to try the nice breakfast the people in the service is very nice and it’s always booked so I recommend you make a reservation if you wanna have some space and you don’t wanna have to wait. Ask them to give you the appetizer of the banana bread which is absolutely delicious. I loved it.
Tiny place so you feel squeezed. We had a reservation and they still had us waiting outside for a while, it felt disorganized and stressful for a meal that was just okay
