We had an amazing experience at State Street Provisions. The service was outstanding, and when we visited around 5 p.m. on a weekday, it felt relaxed and not overly crowded. I’d still suggest making a reservation just in case. The menu isn’t huge, so it’s worth checking it out ahead of time to be sure it fits everyone’s tastes, but every dish we tried was excellent. While it’s on the higher end price-wise, the quality, atmosphere, and unbeatable Boston location make it well worth it. As a bonus, it’s perfectly situated for a post-dinner walk being so close to the Aquarium makes it a great stop while exploring the city.

Incredible service! Fun place with delicious brunch! My food was so delicious as we're the mimosas! Our server anticipated our needs and we barely had to ask for anything! Great spot! Will be going here again!

Had an excellent experience at Provisions on State Street, largely thanks to the outstanding service from our bartender, Bailey. From the moment I sat down, Bailey was attentive, friendly, and genuinely cared about making the experience great—not rushed or dismissive, which sadly isn’t always the case at popular spots. The food quality was excellent, the pricing felt appropriate for what you get, and the overall atmosphere was relaxed and enjoyable. What really stood out was how well everything came together: great service, great food, and fair prices. Honestly, I enjoyed Provisions far more than other hyped Boston restaurants like Contesa and Saltie Girl. Provisions beat them on service, value, and consistency—without the attitude or inflated costs. I’ll absolutely be back, and if you’re lucky enough to grab a seat at the bar, ask for Bailey.

Our orders included the lobster roll, clam chowder, chilled lobster tail and the autumn greens salad with grilled shrimp. The portions were generous, the food fresh, well presented and downright yummy! Service was quick and the server attentive. Would highly recommend.

The lobster bisque had perfect harmonization of creaminess, lobster flavor and slight kick from chili pepper. It had fresh, chewy, decent size lobster pieces that added pleasant texture to the perfect flavor. I could not keep the spoon down until I finished the bisque in few minutes. The Fish and chips had light, crispy batter that pairs perfectly with fresh, moist, soft yet firm (=perfectly cooked) white fish inside. It is so tasty yet delicate so use your hands to eat it instead of utensils. The fries were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside that was like Belgian fries. Even the sides taste amazing in this place. My wife had spicy chicken sandwich and it was as good or better than famous chicken sandwich places. I have never had eaten this good lobster bisque and fish and chips in my life and we appreciate State Street Provisions for this pleasant experience!

Such a great restaurant and we went here for our first breakfast on our trip to Boston for our anniversary. Such a great menu and I had a great breakfast sandwich, hold the bacon jam to make it plant-based. Service was great as was the atmosphere. Beautiful location across from our hotel.

Stopped by for dinner at the bar and had the lobster roll which was solid. This place was packed on a Tuesday night which is the sign of a well run establishment. State Street Provisions is definitely one of the nicest pubs in the surrounding Seaport / Harbor area.

Great spot on the waterfront with a relaxed, lively vibe and a menu full of tasty options — from fresh seafood like lobster rolls and oysters to burgers, fish & chips, and seasonal dishes. The service is friendly and portions are generous. It’s perfect for a casual dinner, brunch, or date night, though it can get busy and a bit loud at peak times. Overall a pleasant and delicious experience near Long Wharf!

My family had a fantastic dinner here. The holiday décor was charming, and our server was incredibly friendly. The pork chop was tender and flavorful, must try!

We went on a Friday afternoon. I can only speak on their oyster happy hour and clam chowder as that was all we ordered. The clam chowder was amazing. The clams fresh and not chewy at all. The soup base was also very flavorful. Every bite had a clam. The oysters were $1. They were of varying sizes. Overall though, they were fresh. They weren't chewy at all and came with 2 different sauces (cocktail and like a garlic vinegar) and lemon wedges. The service was amazing as well. Everyone was attentive. I would definitely come back!!

This restaurant truly impressed me from start to finish. From the moment you arrive, the atmosphere feels special: the place is beautiful, with carefully chosen décor, a modern yet warm style that makes you want to stay and enjoy every corner. The lighting and background music create the perfect ambiance, whether you’re visiting as a couple, with friends, or even with family. The service from Olena was absolutely exceptional. Beyond being professional and attentive, she made the whole experience feel personalized. She was detail-oriented, offered kind recommendations, and made us feel genuinely cared for—something that really makes a difference in a restaurant. The food was on another level. We started with an appetizer of wings that were simply spectacular: juicy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection—honestly some of the best I’ve ever had. The main courses arrived beautifully presented, generous in portion, full of flavor, and made with fresh ingredients that you could taste in every bite. You could truly feel the balance between quality, passion for cooking, and great attention to detail. To finish the evening, the dessert was the cherry on top: delicious, delicate, and the perfect ending that leaves you wanting to come back. In short, this restaurant has it all: a charming atmosphere, service that exceeds expectations, and unforgettable food. It’s one of those places that stays with you, and I know I’ll be returning more than once. Highly recommended!

Our first trip to Boston. We had a quick bite here during the wait between Hop on Hip Off buses. Wonderful soups: Clam Chowder and Lobster Bisque!

Stopped in one afternoon after visiting the aquarium and it was perfect! Drinks were great and an amazing price, and the food was amazing! Definitely want to come back soon!

On our family trip to the aquarium we unfortunately had to wait over an hour and a half to get into the aquarium. We decided to get food while we waited. Surprisingly we only had to wait 5 minutes and we got a nice booth table in the restaurant. We were kinda in a rush so we just ordered simple foods. Wife got a pizza to share with our daughter and I got the spicey chicken sandwich. The pizza was light and airy and my chicken sandwich was spicy but good. I ordered two budlights since they had no Samuel Adams, which I find odd since it's a restaurant in downtown Boston but it's all good. My wife ordered a mix drink and some white and wine and loved them both. Busy restaurant wish I could have tried more but next time I will. Thanks for the memories.

Best food I’ve had In Boston on our trip!!! So so good. Had avocado toast and cookies and cream French toast. Friend had clam chowder and lobster roll

We went for the happy hour $1 oysters, the 1st down was good and fresh, but the second dozen had 1 or 2 that wasn’t that great. Couldn’t ask more for the price given the atmosphere and the service of the restaurant

Had an amazing brunch experience at *State Street Provisions*! The drinks were strong and creative—especially the beer mix with a kick. 🍺🔥 The **Cookie French Toast** is a *must* if you have a sweet tooth—it’s indulgent, warm, and perfectly balanced. The **hash browns**? Crispy, golden perfection. Great spot in the Seaport area, and a bonus: there’s a garage right across the street—only $25 for 3 hours of parking, which is super convenient. Highly recommend for brunch lovers or anyone craving a sweet-savory combo with solid cocktails. #BostonEats #StateStreetProvisions #SeaportBrunch #BostonBrunchSpots #SweetToothApproved #CookieFrenchToast #BrunchVibes #FoodieFinds #HashBrownHeaven #BostonFoodie #BrunchWithABuzz #WeekendEats #EatSeaport

Came here for lunch before heading to the old state house and other sights. It was packed and we were lucky to get seated immediately. It has a full service bar in case you want a drink with your meal. We had the burger, spicy chicken sandwich and the avocado toast all of which were great. The location and ambience were wonderful

Stopped by for “happy hour”, $1 oysters. Sat at the bar and was warmly greeted and she took my order. I didn’t catch her name but my receipt says Left B. I asked for some recommendations for local beers. She happily recommended a few. The oysters and beers were delicious. We will be back for dinner! Highly recommended SSP!

We had such a fantastic time at State Street Provisions! The service was top-notch, and it wasn’t too busy when we went around 5pm midweek. Definitely recommend snagging a reservation, though, just to be safe. The menu is on the smaller side, so be sure to take a peek beforehand to make sure everyone’s on board with the options, but everything we had was delicious. It’s a little pricier, but totally worth it, especially for the prime Boston location. Plus, you can stroll over to the Aquarium after your meal if you're exploring the city!

The service here is always consistent just as the food and drinks are always fresh and delicious. Do yourself a favor and come here also for dollar oysters from 3pm to 5pm! You won't be disappointed!! 💯👍🏾❤️ Calvin C.

Had Sunday Brunch here - place was very busy so we sat at the bar which was still exceptional service. The brunch menu here was the best out of all the brunch menus in the area - it actually had a great mix of both breakfast and lunch options ! We had the omelet - which was exceptional. So fluffy and light yet the inside was packed with great quality cheese and perfectly sautéed onions/peppers. The potatoes were perfectly crispy without being oily. This will be our new brunch spot when we stay in town !

Very good gastro-pub type food with friendly service in a lively environment. A little pricey (product of location right next to the wharf and aquarium). We started with a refreshing cucumber, vodka-based concoction. It was perfect for the hot, humid weather. Then we had the clam chowder and elote to start. The chowder was tasty (though a bit thinner than I’m used to) and the elote - especially with that cowboy butter was amazing. Entrees were fish-and-chips (fresh and flaky), short rib bolognese (huge, delicious portion with rotini), and a grain bowl (w/ chicken) that was surprisingly flavorful. All-in-all, the food was top-notch. Our server was fantastic (friendly, efficient, and engaging). The setting was lively, dark wood bar - a bit noisy, but nothing problematic. The only drawback is price. There’s definitely a location and tourist premium built-in.

We stopped in for appetizers after our visit to the aquarium. It is about a 2 minute walk from the entrance. Lovely outdoor dining area. The service was friendly but I think they forgot about us after our food was delivered. We had the lobster bisque, clam chowder and steamed mussels in a red sauce. We also had a Peaky Blinders cocktail which was delicious! we spent $58 before tip. Would go back for sure.

Wednesday evening walked in and was seated right away. Drink orders came quick as well as the delicious korean wings. Ordered lobster roll and fish & chips. Entrees were pretty good, nothing special however the batter on the fish was very nice and crispy. Soggy batter is always a let down but these fillets held up very nicely. Would recommend and will be back

Garrison was our waiter and honestly what a tremendous human being and server. This was date night for mama and daddy after God knows how long. Green curry mussels? Delicious but the crispy rice stole the show. My hubby really enjoyed the fish and chips with hake. So flaky, meaty and delicious. Happy holidays!

Great food, cocktails. Scallops were perfectly cooked. Clam chowder was the best we tried during our visit. Winter Apple and Peeky Blinders drinks were superb. Loved that this was a quick walk from the Marriott, because the weather was cold and rainy. The service was fast, polite, attentive.

Went to State Provisions for dinner on Valentine’s Day, which also happened to be my boyfriend and I’s 5 year anniversary. I was personally nervous at first to come here on such a busy evening, but was not disappointed. The clam chowder and Lobster bisque was delightful and carefully presented with red pepper flakes which was absolutely delicious. Our server was nice enough to give us a slice of cake for out anniversary.

The Peaky Blinders cocktail was phenomenal. So much so that I ordered them on 3 separate occasions over a 5 day stay in the area. The Brussel sprout appetizer was a delicious standout and took a menu mainstay for a lot of bistro pubs and did something new with it. $1 well fleet oysters during happy hour were great as was the jumbo shrimp cocktail. We came another day for brunch which was good, but less to write home about. I had eggs, with home fries, sausage and toast. I thought the one sausage link and half a slice of toast was a little skimpy.

My partner and I have been here about 3 times. Twice for Valentine’s day and once for our anniversary. Every time we’ve been here we have been very pleased with the food, service, and atmosphere. I can’t remember the names of the servers we had our first two times but they were both amazing and we left talking about how great they were. The waitress we had the first time was super friendly and gave us a slice of cake on the house for our anniversary and went out of her way to ask us about our story and how we met. Last Valentine’s Day the waiter we had was super nice and on top of things. Last night we had Garrison. He gave me a great white wine recommendation based off of my meal when I asked for one and the description he gave me was extremely accurate to the wine. He also told me that if I didn’t like the wine to let him know because he doesn’t want anybody to be with a drink they don’t like based off of his recommendation. He was super nice and funny and joked around with us and took his time working with us. I imagine Valentine’s Day in Boston is a super busy night for people in the restaurant industry so the fact that we never felt rushed or like there were other more important things that needed to be done was awesome! Something I really love about this restaurant is that the price is always what it should be in comparison to the amount and quality of the food and it is rare to find an appropriately priced restaurant in Boston!

State Street Provisions was a good find. The fried chicken sandwich was crispy, saucy, and perfectly balanced with that bright slaw and the fries were hot and well salted. The grilled chicken with Caesar felt lighter but still full of flavor. Lively atmosphere, solid service, and a good beer list. I’d happily go back.

Great spot in Boston for oysters and brews! The oysters were outstanding—super fresh and perfectly shucked. Solid selection of draft beers too; went with a local IPA that hit the spot. Lobster bisque was way too salty, had to send it back to the chef, but they hooked us up with complimentary cheesecake to make up for it. Generous gesture—overall a solid night out.

Great prices for a downtown seaside restaurant. The mussels were very good and flavored Italian style with a red sauce and sausage. The NY strip was very good. Tender steak and a nice sauce. Would loved more potato. The steak was prime and $46.

A good solid restaurant run very well with attentive and professional servers. The atmosphere can be a little loud but manageable. They have dining outside in addition to the pleasant inside dining. Menu was good and food quality good. Not trying to be negative, but the whole place has a slight franchise feeling about it, but worth keeping on your radar as a go-to restaurant.

We were visiting Boston for the first time and decided to check this place out after reading the reviews. It turned out to be a really cool spot — great location, nice vibe, and super friendly service. We ordered two craft beers, the City Burger, and the crab bisque, and everything was fresh and really tasty. The menu has a lot of variety, so there’s plenty more we’d love to try. Overall, an awesome place to hang out, and we’ll definitely be back next time we’re in town!

The food was okay — under seasoned but fantastic portion sizes. The vibe wasn’t as casual and friendly as it seemed from the outside. It was very pretentious and dark. The staff was perfectly nice, but it wasn’t my favorite Boston eatery.

Came here for late dinner on a Saturday night after the Fourth of July. It was quiet they took us without reservation. Serves American menu, great courteous fast service, good food, very tasty drinks with wide selection. The clam chowder is solid but not rich enough for my taste. People rave about their oysters but I didn’t try them. Outdoors seating.

Service was a bit slow to get started, but we were well taken care of afterwards. Burger looked amazing, lobster roll was ok, looked great just missing something. Grilled squash was very good. Nice fries. Overall atmosphere is very nice.

Well plated, decent atmosphere, and good enough food, though a bit much for the price. Also something I ate didn’t agree with me, I’m not sure what it was.

Stopped for lunch after a brisk 90 minute jaunt through the aquarium. Very kid friendly. Breakfast and lunch served on the kids menu! They were kind enough to stow our stroller out of the way as well. Jewel of the crown was amazing. Spicy chicken sandwich brings some heat. Raw Oysters were prepared very well. No horseradish, though.

The two words to describe this place is perfectly adequate. If you want an acceptable, stressless and acceptable experience, this is the place to be. Every dish we had was good and pleasant, you will eat and nod in agreement but you won't remember anything you ate the next day. The only highlight was the service, our server was incredibly attentive and made sure we were well taken care of. Visit this place if you are meeting old friends who show up to enjoy each other's company more than the food.

Came into town for some great food and drinks! Mainly went for the oysters which were very reasonably priced. Great service and atmosphere of the restaurant. One thing I don't understand is the "Kitchen Fee" that is added into the receipt. Otherwise, great time there and would return

State Street Provisions is a fine restaurant located directly adjacent to the New England Aquarium. The atmosphere in SSP stands out as its strongest quality. Sporting a classy but comfortable environment--tastefully decorated for the time of year. The service staff was excellent and I was seated within minutes and never felt unattended to. Shout out to Garret the best waiter I've had. The food itself was well made, but lacking a "wow" factor, something I expect from the price range. As someone who is a big fan of fish and chips these fed the urge but weren't especially notable. Maybe I needed to order a more expensive or complex dish, but this food was good don't get me wrong. Not a bad choice at all.

Good spot for take-out in a great downtown location. Ordered a burger and fries online and was helped quickly despite arriving early. Staff were friendly and welcoming. The food was tasty, and the vibe inside looked relaxed and inviting. Would happily return.

Average food. Nice ambience and excellent service. Chicken sandwich was tough and not at all juicy, but overall toppings and sauces made it tasty. Just wish the chicken was better. Fish tacos were good.

My husband and I had dinner here on Saturday, December 27, 2025. It looked like a beautiful place so we decided to give it a try. I had the short rib bolognese and my husband ordered the fish n chips. My husband was fine, but I vomited terribly for 3 hours straight that night. We will definitely not go there again.
