Opinions de West Bank Cafe Broadway
I came here with a friend to see a show downstairs (Andrea McArdle!). The food was quite good, the show was fantastic.
Absolutely recommend! The food is amazing. Try the chicken barley soup. It is so delicious! Friendly, professional service and a very cool theater experience downstairs. Cool NYC theater scene! Bravo to the staff and new owners
Been many times but each time is a brand new experience. The food, the staff, the atmosphere and the owners who make everyone feel like a star! Speaking of stars, you never know who you might see there! It really is the number one spot in New York City!
I can't say enough positive thing about WBC. I love the owners Tom and Michael so much & they have put their heart and soul into this iconic establishment. Every part of the experience is top tier - from the food & cocktails, to the ambiance and company. Definitely go for dinner and drinks when you're in NYC!!!
I had the best experience at the West Bank cafe! The owner Tom made some amazing suggestions on what to eat (including the risotto balls) and it did not disappoint. Love this place and cannot wait to visit again
Unique little spot in Hells Kitchen. The venue is fun, cozy and the perfect place for either a romantic outing, or a larger group. The owner Tom was so kind and funny, he’s a down-to-earth guy who has a knack for making people feel special. The food was delicious! We had a great night here, and I’d highly recommend it.
Took my family of 4 with two teenagers. We all loved our food and drinks and had a great time! The staff was all wonderful and fun. Catch a show downstairs at the Laurie Beecham Theater if you really want to have a fun night! Later in the night, you might spot some Broadway actors hanging out in the bar, which my kids thought was pretty cool! Highly recommend West Bank Cafe before/after a show or anytime!
West Bank Cafe is one of my favorite places to go in Manhattan. Whether I'm catching up with an old friend, trying to impress a new date, or entertaining family from out of town -- WBC is always guaranteed to provide amazing food, fun ambiance, friendly service. All this plus you never know which Broadway celebrity is going to be seated next to you. If you live in NYC or visiting, please come see what the locals are raving about!
A neighborhood landmark since long before I moved to NYC, this restaurant, bar and cabaret changed hands after the pandemic, and is still going strong! Same excellent menu (truly the best salmon entree in town), same friendly staff, same warm atmosphere. And the Beechman downstairs has been given a glorious, glam makeover! Forever my go-to when in Hell's Kitchen.
I tried for dinner but I hadn't thought about making a reservation. I then decided to go after the show I was seeing for dessert. I wanted to try Chita Rivera's favourite. The gentleman at the door thought that would be a great idea. He was still working when I arrived and he ordered my dessert right away. I felt well taken care of! It was delicious!
West Bank Café is an institution of the theater world and has only gotten BETTER since the new ownership and renovations of the Laurie Beechman Theatre happened downstairs. The staff is stellar, the food is great and the atmosphere is right up there with other mainstays of the theater district. I've rubbed elbows with so many known talents that I've lost count. Go have some risotto balls for me!
This isn't just a good place to eat. It's also a fun place to eat. They catered to the theater crowd and time your dinner accordingly. Many of the waiters and waitresses are Broadway actors or theatre workers. They are all very welcoming and hospitable. The food is high-quality and served very well. The dining room is very nice with lemon tablecloths and perfect lighting.
Today was my first time visiting West Bank Café, and I had the best experience ever! The staff and service were fantastic, and the owner greeted us as soon as we arrived. It’s in a great location, right in the heart of Manhattan. The restaurant is also LGBTQ+ friendly, which made me fall in love with the atmosphere even more. There’s even a parking garage next to the restaurant, which is perfect if you’re a commuter. I would definitely eat here again. Best wishes to Tom and Michael — bravo! 👏
West Bank Cafe is an NYC Broadway institution. The is delicious, the atmosphere vibrant and filled with broadway celebrities. The drinks are perfectly made and the wine list is young but complimented the food. Service staff is always out to make sure your experience is a great one. Definitely a must visit place. A taste of old Broadway!
What a delight to know how wonderful The West Bank Cafe has bounced back from its threatened closing, it is just gorgeous and better than ever! New owners Michael and Tom have polished and tweaked the venue, but they haven’t changed anything about the heart and soul of the restaurant. The sleek new booths add to the perfect stylish atmosphere and the expert staff are warm and welcoming. The food was sublime, those meatballs!!! It is just a gem to savor!
My husband, good friend, and I all went to the West Bank Café. My husband ordered Pan seared Atlantic Salmon. Our friend ordered the Shrimp Scampi and Butterscotch Toffee Parfait, and I ordered the Eggplant Parmesan. The food was absolutely delicious! The Eggplant Parmesan was the absolute BEST that I have EVER had!! We are all coming back again tomorrow!
Went to the reopening of West Bank since being bought by new owners and Broadway producers Tom and Michael D’Angora - and somehow it’s even better than it was before!! Obsessed with their spaghetti with meatballs, Tom’s grandfather’s recipe, craving it now. Also loved the homemade hot fudge sundae and the signature rice balls. Cannot wait to come back - such a welcoming, jovial vibe. 5 stars!!!!
I dropped by for brunch on a freezing day. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I wanted something hot so I ordered the soup of the day which I didn't know what it was and risotto balls. It turned out very good and tasty. Ambience was very good and charming. The price was very reasonable so highly recommended.
Went for brunch with a friend who had the eggs Benedict. I thought his eggs Benedict was better than the avocado toast I ordered, which was very average. We also shared the risotto ball hash, which was also pretty good. Overall I guess food was a fair 4 ⭐️ even though I was underwhelmed by my avocado toast, which was fairly basic, lacking imagination and flavor. Service and atmosphere were good. Apparently there is a little “theatre” space downstairs that could host comedy shows and the like.
This is a restaurant that has no large overhead entrance sign ID. I have enclosed some photos that should make it easier to find. I ordered the pan seared salmon with farrow. The salmon ($32) was cooked medium, as requested, and it was very mild in flavor. It was too mild, so there was not enough flavor for me to enjoy it. The restaurant is next to Citibank.
We chose the restaurant because it was right across the street from the play we were seeing. A theater district staple, our waiter asked if we were catching a show. We said we had a 7pm show and he said no problem when we ordered at 5:45pm sharp. Our food arrived at our table at 6:40pm. The waiter gave us just one update prior to getting our food- after we repeatedly tried waiving him down. He never apologized. We basically got our food just before we were about to walk out. We had 5 minutes to eat half our meals and took the rest home for later. The burger was fine. The salmon was fine. It was really hard to appreciate as we were just eating very quickly so as not to miss our show. They should have told us they couldn't serve us in time and we would have just gone to the nearby noodle shop.
I stopped by recently to surprise one of the bartenders who was honestly one of the main reasons I started coming here. When I arrived, I learned she had been let go. I later confirmed she did not quit. Management told me the owner claimed she was “slow and late,” even during blizzard weather conditions. The manager, other bar staff, and several of her regular customers all disagreed with that assessment. She was professional, attentive, and the only woman of color bartending there. The situation left a bad impression and made me uncomfortable supporting this business. See my full review on Yelp for more details. *UPDATE: BLACK PERSON, I'm not sure if you intentionally applied the one drop rule to him, but calling him a POC is insensitive, did he tell you that he identifies as that or is it just because he in non-white. He is Asian and considered racially ambigious. I have no intention of doing DEI training for you, but I recommend you work on that yourself. The food and staff are actually good. Maybe you should let them do their job.
We saw a show at the theater downstairs. We ordered dinner and drinks, everyone else on our table just ordered drinks. Our dinner came out with their drinks but our drinks did not. Half an hour later, we had finished our dinner, everyone else had finished their drinks, and the waitstaff had not returned. We ate our dinner with no water or drinks. When they finally returned and we asked for our drinks, there was no apology or acknowledgment for their stuff-up. Later, the waiter came round to top up everyone’s waters. She conspicuously did not top up ours. Poor service.
