Excellent Turkish cuisine!!! Came here for my sisters birthday and the food and service was amazing!!! The lamb and chicken were very tender, accompanied with delicious side salads, and the tres leches cake and baklava was DELISH!! 5 stars all round 👍🏽🌟
Delicious food! We often order from here and are always satisfied! It’s one of our favorite places! The staff is also very nice.
Love the food last night I order 2 skewer lamb shish and one skewer chicken sheesh kebab With rice and bread and salad my opinion number one in Brooklyn fresh meat thank you very much for the good food and the guys inside are very humble
I've been coming here since 2011. The food here is healthy, nutritious and tasty. This is the only place within a 5 mile radius where I can get quality food late at night or early in the morning. This is slow food served at a faster pace. I am grateful to have access to a healthy food option like this in my area.
This is one of the best Turkish restaurants in NYC. They have been consistent for the past 15 years I have been there. They also have one of the best chicken soups ever.
This place has been around for a long time for a reason. It’s one of the longest running Turkish restaurants in Brooklyn. It’s consistently quality food. It’s a very clean family run establishment. The food is delicious and fresh because of how busy it always is. Things to try: any of the gyro or kebabs, the lentil soup or any other soup and the rice pudding is the best around.
Delicious food, excellent service
Every dish was an absolute masterpiece—flavors that were perfectly balanced and ingredients that were so fresh. Truly exceptional! Recommended to All.
Great food always repeating customer !
Friendly staff. Fresh chicken tenders and fried wings. Place has game area as well.
The food exceeded all expectations! Each bite was bursting with flavor, and the presentation was simply stunning. Would love to visit again and again. Recommend: Must try lamb mix grill.
Great food, great service, clean place. Love it 😊
Great food with wonderful service!!! Everything was truly fresh
The best service and food in NYC hands down
It's very good Turkish Food at a very reasonable price. The dining area is actually a decent place to take a date and everyone is friendly. You really can't go wrong with the lamb kebab. Very tasty.
Food was super fresh and delicious also service was amazing too.
Excellent food. Everything was fresh and delicious
If you are looking for a delicious meal - this is the place to go. Food is phenomenal! Salad and some crispy on the outside and soft on the inside bread, mmmm. Gyro is perfect, golden and juicy. And the chicken!!! We couldn’t stop eating!!! Adana kebab is to die for! Number one spot for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Make sure you try their deserts too. Thank you!!!
1 word:WOW. This food was wonderful! From the bread to the kazandibi, I enjoyed every minute of this restaurant!
That’s the really good place, recommend everyone try turkish cuisine. Thank you
I have been coming here for 6 years and plus. I have no negative experiences at this restaurant. The food is so delicious that it has not changed since 6 years. The employees are very knowledgeable and nice to the customers.
Foods are really good and delicious also the place is very clean. The staffs are really nice too. I recommend you guys to visit aksaray restaurant.
TURKEY 🇹🇷 Eat the World NYC review: Technically this Turkish cafe is open 24 hours a day, but the spinning meats near the window look their best right at lunch time. As business picks up in the early afternoon, layers of the cooked bits start to disappear onto plates and into pitas. Freshly cooked Turkish bread is also a possible vehicle for your gyro as shown here, an extra dollar well spent. Linger for a while with their brutally strong and muddy Turkish coffee. The place is quiet given its setback from busy Kings Highway, but seems very well known amongst its regulars.
We recently visited Turkish Aksaray, and it’s truly a place worth coming back to. The menu is extensive, offering a wide variety of traditional Turkish dishes from appetizers to hearty main courses and desserts. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious, with rich yet beautifully balanced flavors. You can tell the food is prepared with care and respect for tradition. What really stood out to me was the perfectly balanced taste of the lamb gyro and the rice pudding these were definitely my two favorites. The lamb gyro was flavorful, tender, and well-seasoned without being overwhelming. And the rice pudding was smooth, delicately sweet, and comforting, the perfect way to finish the meal. The food comes out quickly, yet the quality remains excellent: a rare and appreciated combination. Service is outstanding: very polite, attentive, and genuinely welcoming without being intrusive. There are about 60 seats inside, making it comfortable for both small groups and family gatherings. They also prepare takeout with the same quality and care as dine-in orders, and the portions are generous. Overall, it’s a wonderful spot with great food, warm service, and an inviting atmosphere. Highly recommended.
This is one of our favorite Turkish restaurants in all of New York. Aksaray is a gem - no frills, fast and friendly service, great prices, and just authentic and delicious Turkish cuisine. I love getting their soups - the tripe soup is as legit as it gets. Portions are huge - the Iskender kebab is enough for two people, and the Adana kebab was so rich and juicy. Also, we love the fresh bread that they serve on the side. Credit card accepted. Highly recommend if you’re seeking authentic Turkish food!
Been coming here since 2019, and the food never stops to AMAZE me. The iskender, the cheese cigars, and baklava, the lamb kebobs, the Turkish tea...just wow. This is my go to place when I like having good company with family and friends. So to anyone wanting to try good Mediterranean food, or just a really laid back and wonderful atmosphere, with motuh watering dishes, I recommend this place for sure. Love that I get to become friends with the staff. And the warm welcome always brightens up my day for sure.
This restaurant deserves complete support. Each meal provides the same satisfying experience. This place provides reliably good service. Everyone talks about Aksaray and now I see why. The restaurant delivers consistently.
Best gyro you'll ever have, I go on Sundays, and the turkish kid that works behind the counter is always friendly! All food is fresh and delicious.
This place has been here like for ever more then 30 years same owners I was this place is on better location because they have really good food n more people need to know about it
Aksaray is a fantastic spot for anyone who enjoys authentic, flavorful food prepared with care. The dishes are always fresh, well-seasoned, and full of rich, traditional taste. The meat is tender and juicy, the portions are generous, and the selection of sides and sauces perfectly complements every meal. Whether you go for kebab, grilled dishes, or something lighter, the quality is consistently high. The staff is friendly, welcoming, and efficient, making the whole experience smooth and enjoyable. Even during busy hours, orders come out quickly and everything is served with attention to detail. The restaurant is clean, comfortable, and has a warm atmosphere that makes eating there inviting and pleasant. Aksaray is a great choice for a satisfying meal at a fair price. If you’re looking for delicious, well-prepared food with excellent service, this place definitely delivers. Highly recommended!
I haven’t dined in here but I ordered pick up and strongly recommend. -The Sigara Borek were perfectly crisp and enough to share with friends. -We also ordered Mix Gyro sandwich + Lamb Shish kebab on Turkish bread and can only say #iconic
First time I went to Aksaray as I recently moved to the neighborhood. After a night shift I wanted to have a quiet and tasty meal to get home and go to bed sooner. What I liked: The food is really tasty, the portions are good - this is a big plus. What could be improved: Unfortunately, the service left a bad impression. I spilled sauce and used the two napkins the waitress brought. After she cleaned up the dishes, she didn't ask if I needed more napkins. I had to wipe my hands with the paper that the table was covered with and only after asking did they bring new ones. Also tea was not served immediately, but only after a reminder. Important: Don't think that this has to do with my mood after the night shift. Everyone has days when you just want to eat and relax. I've worked in the service industry myself and I understand that the job is tough. But I still wish the management would pay more attention to the needs of the guests. The food is a big plus, but the service should be improved. I hope that in the future my visit will be even more pleasant.
We tried Aksaray kofte tribe soup baklava and tea soup was good Aksaray kofte was great my favorite in the restaurant. Baklava is home made style better you have another dessert if you don't like home made style. I tried meat soup before they do only weekend if you visiting here try meat soup and Aksaray kofte you will love them.
Some great dishes with a fair price and always smiling faces on the entry. People who love what they do and love to work and provide excellent service. It reflects on the guest experience. I lived there before and it was my to go place often with friends and family.
When it comes to authentic Turkish cuisine Aksaray sets the bar on how is properly done. We were greeted and seated immediately our waitress provided outstanding service and made sure we were comfortable for the entire visit. I had the Sish mix platter the cuts of meat were cooked perfectly the beef was tender and full of flavor the rice along with the veggies complemented the dish perfectly. I will definitely return here again
A no-frills Turkish restaurant that opens till late, offering the most scrumptious kebabs, salads, and soups this part of Brooklyn. They serve a generous serving of homemade bread (probably the best we've ever tried again and again anywhere in the borough), warm and tempting, together with our meal, as well as offers half orders of most items on their menu. We keep coming back to this place, and we know exactly why.
This restaurant is a gem of Midwood. The people of Midwood are religious Jews, Turks, Russian, Hispanic, Balkan, and Arab. We're immigrants. You won't find "New York quality" here, but you will find lots of damned good ethnic food. Lots of Turkish and middle eastern eateries in this neighborhood, most notably Memo on Kings Highway. It's hard not comparing Aksaray with Memo... I truly love Memo, and the people who work there are some of the nicest people in Midwood, but as another reviewer points out, Aksaray might actually have the upper hand in the food department. The waitresses are very friendly. I think they may have too many tables to wait on because it's slightly difficult getting their attention, but that's not their fault. I think they need another waitress here. When you walk in, you walk past a counter that has uncooked kebabs and meats that you can purchase and cook at home, along side a dessert counter where you'll see 3 different kinds of baklava as well as other desserts like rice pudding. The food here bursts with flavor. This is a true gem of the neighborhood. House Bread: A+ Very flavorful breads with a beautiful golden crust on top and a delicious crunchy/chewy crust on the bottom. The inside is fluffy and delicious. Goes really well with the olive oil supplied with each table. Magnificent bread! Lamb Soup: C+ Not overly fond of this soup. I was expecting something like Harcho, but got something like New England Clam Chowder with lamb replacing clam. Slightly sour, and very homogeneous the way chowders can be. Not my favorite. Lentil Soup: B+ An excellent lentil soup. It's not a "chunky" kind of soup: it's not one of those lentil soups where you'll be chewing the lentils. It's more liquidy than that. But great flavors. Above average. Humus: A- An excellent hummus. Garlicky, flavorful, smooth. If you like hummus, you'll want to try it. Lamb Adana Kebab: A- Very soft and succulent lamb. Absolutely delicious. Probably not appropriate for small kids because it's ever so slightly spicy, but it's perfect for adults! ;-P Iskender Kebab: A+ Might be the best Iskender kebab I've ever eaten. Firstly, they use that A+ yummy bread. Secondly, the lamb gyro they use for the iskender kebab is soft, juicy, and bursting with flavor. Thirdly, the yogurt they use is A+ as well. And fourthly, the pièce de résistance is the brilliant and skilled way the chef fries the bread and uses oils and peppers to enhance the flavor of the dish. It couldn't possibly be any better than it is. Aksaray Kofte Special: A+ The same as the iskender kebab, but instead of using lamb gyro, they meat is ground lamb "mini meatballs". All the same comments apply. This might be my favorite dish on the menu. Bakalva: A Delicious. Still crispy; not soggy.
Delicious local Turkish spot . The platter of appetizers was delicious . Lentil soup was great too. The fact that they are open 24/7 is great ! Their Turkish bread was a favorite of the table . We were a big group and they accommodated tables for us all and waitress took the time to answer our questions
15% tip/gratuity is automatically added to bill when dining in. Order the lunch specials, lamb gyro and lamb adana. The lamb from both dishes were juicy and seasoned well (though the gyro can be considered a bit too salty). The rice was super fluffy and flavorful. The kind of rice that you can keep eating even if you are super full. Shepherd salad was kind of bland, but does balance out the dish overall.
The restaurant is located in the Midwood section of Brooklyn. They prepare Turkish cuisine and are open 24 hours. Soups, salads, appetizers, entrees, sandwiches, desserts and beverages are available. I ordered the ezme appetizer, chicken gyro platter and grilled kofte platter. The food was tasty and well-prepared. Friendly and helpful staff.
Update review: food was delicious the first time so I get them another shot. Everything is upright this time in beautiful bags. Wish some of the orders were fuller. But still good and very presentable this time. 👍 All the food was shoved into a bag vertical and my food came mushed together; not appealing to eat for a $20 appetizer; all my other meals/desserts came vertical, my rice pudding liquid leaked everywhere due to vertically placed and dropped on the floor without ringing my bell at all..so long for a $127 worth of food.
Unreal!!! This place is open 24/7!!! Best feeling ever to get a good meal any time of day. Love that they have all the meat freshly made and you can see the kebobs fore they are cooked. The kabobs were seasoned well, flavourful, juicy and cooked to perfection. The gyro wasnt that great. I personally wish it was cooked longer to get more of a crisp to it.
The food is always fresh. I usually dine in. They have great table service and a friendly staff. You can make your own combination of meats on a plate from off the menu. The downside is that they forget to bring the whole order at once. They usually forget to give you the sauces. Sometimes they forget to warm up the bread. The bread is good when warmed up and eaten with the hummus.
We have been coming to this establishment for over 10 Years. But the way some of the service people are so deceptive in terms of saying A service charge of 18% isn't a tip and keep on insisting that it isnt. so whats going on? Are we supposed to pay 20% tip on top of 20% tip? what is it actually??
This was the first time we tried this small local Turkish restaurant and we were definitely looking forward to it. I order the large lamb chops ($27) and my wife ordered the mixed platter ($30). The menu seems to be fairly priced when compared to how much most diners and small restaurants charge these days. The place seemed clean and had a nice family atmosphere. It's a pretty small/intimate place. The bread they bring as an appetizer was delicious, we both ate a lot of it as we were starving when we arrived for a very late lunch. The server seemed new and accidentally brought two orders of soup to our table, saw our puzzled faces and confirmed that it belonged at another table and brought it to them instead. The entrees were excellent, the lamb chops were juicy and tender. The mixed platter is an excellent choice to sample a smaller portion of a few of the different individual entrees available. I found the price/value for the food we received to be very good. The dessert was one tres leches cake and one rice pudding. They were both absolutely excellent. The rice pudding is a fairly large serving and the tres leches is a reasonable size, taller than it is wide. Both were not overly sweet, they were just right. The problems began when the cheque was brought to the table. They came with a device to charge my card which is convenient. However, the screen showed a total that was more than we anticipated and it offered three main option "15% tip, 20%tip and 25%tip" below it in small letters was the "no tip" option. Doing the math in my head the total didn't add up so I asked if the tip was already included, the waitress said "no". So I asked for an itemized receipt. Our meals plus tax added up exactly to the dollar amount I expected but then it said "15% gratuity". The gratuity was already factored into the bill but the device only showed the total including that 15% gratuity and offered me the opportunity to add an ADDITIONAL 15-25% tip without acknowledging that the total already had gratuity factored in. When I charged my card and selected "no tip" (because I had already paid 15%) the waitress had an attitude and forcefully dropped the device onto another table as she walked away and presumably went to go get the printed charge receipt that I had selected on screen (as opposed to email receipt, no receipt, etc.). She never came back to the table, we got our jackets and went to the counter to ask for it and found it laying on the front counter. I felt like they tried to scam me and every other customer into paying gratuity twice. Initially by lying through omission (not showing the initial gratuity on the total while asking for a tip) and then directly after I verbally asked if the total already included a tip, to which she said "no". Overall the place was good, the dessert was excellent but the service was poor and the payment processing was deceptive. It seems like they count on customers just paying via charge card without doing the math, just assuming that it all adds up and adding a further 15%+ tip.
Went here twice and had bad experiences both times. The waiters literally do not care that you are there. They are usually no where to be found when needed. Takes forever to place an order because no one comes to even ask if you’re ready to order and takes even longer for the food to arrive at the table. By the time the food actually comes, you’re too annoyed to even enjoy the meal. They also include tip in the final bill and again ask for tip when paying. The bathroom is very dirty as well. Food is average. Overall, service and maintenance of the place are extremely poor. Definitely a restaurant that I will not recommend to anyone.
We stopped by to get a warm soup for the morning. No greeting nor even an eye contact from the waiter as unexpected, put the papers in front of us and few minutes later dropped the menus, still not a single word. Then we called to order and then finally at least repeated our order back to us. Anyways we got our soup and it was cold without exaggeration. We were planning to have soup and then order a dessert but after the service and soups disappointments we decided to leave. I gave the 2nd star for the lollipop I grabbed on my way out it was good.
Sad because I used to really like this place. Looks like they have significantly reduced their portion sizes. I had to try and convince the owners son that the plate I received was certainly not a large, and that I should be charged a small plate. Instead he argued back (really? Over $4?) telling me it is a large, and that he can’t do me a “favor”. Favor? Lol ripping me off is not a favor to me. He then proceeded by telling me the chef has changed and he makes the kebabs a lot smaller than usual. Not my concern, figure your business out before you lose all your customers. I refuse to continue to pay $17 for a tiny portion. Won’t be coming back here anymore. Posting a picture of what I actually received versus what they used to give as a “large” straight from their Instagram page. Side note- maybe hire waitresses that can speak English also so they don’t ruin your order every time?
They are very rude . Don't care if you are a regular customer or a new one. If you make some requests after placing an order, they are not going to listen. And return they become rude. Very rude customer services. Not recommend you if you are taking your friend with you for giving party or some kind of gathering
This place used to be our go to late night/casual bite place. They had good kebabs and soups for a reasonable price. But they’ve been deceiving us the last couple of times we visited. The server brings the PoS without showing the bill, runs our card then asks for tip on top of the 18% gratuity they already included in the bill. We asked for a receipt and saw that we ended up tipping 20% of the total including the tip they added without asking. I don’t want to spend 40% on tip when I go out to eat. Sadly I view this establishment as scammers when and don’t plan on returning.
I used to like the place until they decided to double the price greedy people
We always come here but today’s experience was different than before. I came today with my family for lunch .We always order Sea Bass fish and we know that it takes time to be cooked that’s why I order it before anything else..We also asked for stake to be cut in half (because they serve it too thick and the meat doesn’t cook evenly) so the serving girls (2 of them ) said yes that’s not a problem in the beginning but then the guy came out and said that the butcher can’t do that , of course we asked why ? On which we just got a rude look and he left .. So all this time that we ate our appetizers( 25 mins) they haven’t put fish on the grill and all we heard was the girls screaming sea bass sea bass.. so we had to cancel our orders and leave .. We won’t be coming back
Terrible service! Ordered 2 chicken gyro sandwiches. The restaurant forgot to include the sauce that the gyros come with. When called the place, I was told that they can't do anything, but next time when I order, they would provide the sauce. There won't be next time. The person on the phone was extremely rude.
They have become the robbers in this food market. This is my second time I bought lentils soup from them and there was no taste with just a water with spices, I have complained about it in the past and they apologized and told me that someone put more water by mistake and now again it’s the same thing. They don’t bother until we stop buying this low quality food. From my side bye bye aksaray
if i can give no stars i would gladly do that the store had nobody in it and they had me waiting close to an hour to be seated. Unbelievable walk a block down to the other turkish restaurant on E15 & kings highway its way better in everything better food way better customer service and a better experience and environment never ever ever coming here again in my entire life.
Never coming back here again. Number 1- the restaurant charges in over 18% gratuity/service charge. Number 2- the owner is very greedy. Doesn’t care about customers or their experience but taking our money. Number 3- this guy literally gives a YouTuber/TikToker “AmericanTurk” a free meal but for longtime customers he tries to charge us unnecessary ridiculous fees and charges. We will NEVER come back here again. Either charge every customer and treat them that way or show favoritism and charge people you like. Blatant racism and xenophobia.
This place is literally so disgusting my friends and I went to grab some food for suhoor for my Muslim people) and we ordered to go because we weren’t sure if we were gonna sit inside or all go home and eat we waited 45 min for our food and then we asked if we can just eat inside because we didn’t expect the food to take so long to be ready they said no we’re closing soon.???? We walked outside and saw 5 people come in and sit down I walked in side and said you guys said you’re closing ( she didn’t know what to say just laughed and then said there’s a sir charge ) I told her that’s fine we will tip as long and we can just sit inside she just kept smirking and walking away disgusting people they easily got $200 for all 5 of us and still wouldn’t let us sit inside cause they’re disgusting and greedy
This Location used to be the best in brooklyn but something over the last couple of years has changed 1 with the employees aren't friendly anymore very rude 1 newer worker there tall skinny guy with glasses is the nasty person to deal with and makes he's own rules how to serve the food and with what. he always has a attitude problem 2 the food being made isn't always the same the quality changes baring whos working in the kitchen witch diffently at times. 3 and most frustrating is the price of food went up here 110% no exaggeration portions are smaller as well i promise if there's no changes here i will be going elsewhere too much competition for this much change, maybe new owners. I'm not 100%. Sure, but something definitely is different for the worst i understand inflation, about 100% increase. Smaller portions and nasty employees make a big difference and a 100% increase. It's unacceptable in this neighborhood especially
Zero star for this nasty people!!!! night shift skinny GYRo guy is nasty filthy person...he did not wash his hand after smoking. After payment server said owner don't pay her SERVICE CHARGE and ask me for more Tip. DONT PAY 30 percent SERVICE CHARGE!!!!
I’ve been going to this establishment way before you guys renovated around 2004 So please don’t tell me how the portions were the same and just didn’t fill me up. I’m from Azerbaijan same region. Please do not skimp people. Especially on the GYRO and don’t be cheap on the sauces and don’t ask for tip on the little iPad for takeout. That is all embarrassing. Lamb shish wise it did certainly smell like liver. I eat liver all the time as if so I would know how it smells or tastes. No point for me to state this for no reason. __________________ Did a take out for 2 chicken gyro plates* barely any chicken literally barely* I was so upset* why Another update response to the restaurant feedback. so stingy and cheap, Otherwise memos and ankara around the corner* way better
When we gonna give tips, they customer service 100%! No tips, no customer service 🤦🏻♂️😂
So disappointed was hungry and googled a place while I was here in brooklyn and honestly couldn't be more disappointed. The food was so bad. The rice was so over cooked and soggy it was horrible. And the lamb kabab was marinated in a sauce that tasted just as bad. I even ordered a gyro in pita the beef gyro was good but 85% of the pita was stuffed with salad and only a tiny few pieces of gyro such a scam. But honestly the worst part is there customer service. I literally only took 1 bite of kabob and 1 spoon of rice thats how bad it was. I cant even count how many restaurants I've had this dish at. Yet I have never been so discusted of it. The worst is how customer service didnt even have the courtesy to take it off the bill. And they seen how the plate wasnt even touched and had the audacity to say here's your check with the charge still there yet they took the food. I told them to give it back to me I just paid for it. I prefer my dog to eat it then let them have it back so they can probably reserve it. Unbelievable place I would never go there again. Heading to another shish kebab spot now Memo shish Kebab I'll keep you posted on how there food came out.
This place used to be sooo good ... now it's horrible... the chicken soup was the best ...now no chicken no vegetables in it, just liquid ... order online they packed my food without sealing it ... everything was open , not sure if it safe to eat now ... been eating here since 2005 way before they made the restaurant bigger ... horrible im so disappointed.... never again ....
Had come here a couple of times and for the most part it had been pretty good. I recently came back during my lunch break and the lady behind the counter rudely said I could not order off the lunch menu if I was eating in, I explained to her that I had eaten in multiple times but she insisted on being rude and saying we could not eat in for lunch. One of the waiters then said we could stay in and eat for lunch, I should have just left. After we eat we get the bill and they overcharge me and I bring it to the counter and the women behind the counter insists on being rude and saying that because I ate to stay I was charged more. Never coming back to this place again.
I order from this place at-least 4-5 times a week through uber-eats. All my family members and friends order from here also and we occasionally dine in. We love their food, but the service in this place has gone down significantly. They are so rude in denying a simple add-on of lambo gyro on a mix Adana kebab platter. I informed them that they can obviously charge extra for the add on. I am in the hospitality business myself and it’s a simple request from someone who literally spends hundreds of dollars a month in this establishment.I won’t be supporting this business again not will my family members or friends. Completely rude to loyal customers!
I orderd lamb gyro on turkish bread one lamb head soup and one tripe soup i drive there at this cold weather. And its happening second time last time they gave me two lentil soup instead two tripe soup. Thanks god this time at least they gave me one tripe and one lentil soup. I dont make complain about the food i complain about nasty girls on the counter . She was raising her voice to me i stead of being polite . Her excuse was the other cashier didnt understand whats lamb head soup. Its not my problem if someone doesnt know what they serving. The owner has to give more attention to the cashiers how they are nasty to the customers
I ordered Iskender, but instead of butter they poured honey or syrup like for baklava. It was awful. I miss my cultural food, but it shouldn’t be introduced like this. It made me lose my taste for my own culture’s food.
