Opinions de Stolovaya Brooklyn
Tons of food options. I went with a party of 7 and ordered at least 10 different dishes. Everything was amazingly good. Including the tea and the bread.
Delicious foods very great place to sit down and enjoy authentic Russian meals
Homemade food for a reasonable price: simple, unpretentious and consistent. Service is typical to the former USSR's collective eateries: efficient, usually prompt and without fake smiles. However, it's been updated to the American customs and is lacking rudness and inhospitability. Enjoy! On weekends prepare to wait for a table. They accept reservations for parties and BYOB.
You'll appreciate the effort put into appearances. The kitchen doesn't use frozen products. Stolovaya worked nicely for our social group. The staff balanced speed, efficiency, warmth and skill. This establishment creates a great atmosphere.
My single visit proved this restaurant's worth. The decor and atmosphere work together. Their dishes come straight from the kitchen. They customer service was spectacular! The concept here is refreshingly different.
Borsche was so good with Pilmeni. Ahh god bless Ukraine for creating such a soup. Thank you guys for a pleasant evening. We will be back as soon as we are in neighborhood. Spasiba vam!
The chef makes traditional dishes taste alive and current. It's rare to find such capable workers these days. The space here has endearing quality. The servings exceed typical expectations. Our next visit to town will bring us back here.
The meals show attention to detail, the staff shows personal care, and prices show customer appreciation. The food excels completely at reasonable prices. The standouts are evident but quality is consistent. Their employees deliver flawless attention alongside remarkable dishes. My future visits to this neighborhood include this place.
Food here is exceptionally tasty! I was lucky to stop by right at noon when they opened, so I didn’t have to wait—because it does get packed quickly (and for good reason). The atmosphere is inviting and cozy, but the highlight is definitely the food. Every dish feels homely, comforting, and absolutely delicious. I can’t recommend this place enough!
They make dining out feel special through their approach. This restaurant maintains highest quality always. The workers' timely responses were appreciated. This cozy spot creates impressive meals. The visit felt like a reward to ourselves.
So many ppl were saying this please is a must! And yeah, so tasty, hospitable, fast, clean and affordable. We had chicken Kyiv, varenyky aka dumplings, shashlik and fruit juice aka kompot☺️ Everything 10/10. Staff is amazing, the kitchen Team and a chef are about and beyond💫 The atmosphere and interior will be good for seniors. They should get that nostalgia moment.
A review from a Chinese person: It's quiet great to be honest. The food is delicious, the portion is huge, the price is affordable, and the server is helpful. The only inconvenience that I had is communication since basically everyone there (customers and staffs) mainly speak Russian (or maybe other slavic languages, I am not sure), so it is kinda hard to order or getting staffs' notice. But to be fair, this kind of situation happens in every ethical restaurant, like Chinese restaurants. Therefore, I don't really blame them for this, so over all, it is a nice place to go. Would recommend to others.
I enjoyed my visit, just as much as I used to 20 years ago. This place didn't change much, everything is still made fresh, tasty and the bill will surprise you in a good way. The atmosphere is somewhat noisy but nothing excessive. Crowd, as you can expect, composed of ex-USSRs - both babushkas and young people. Dishes are huge. Kompot is a drink you should try, comes in pitchers. Waiters are fast but busy, so they don't trouble you with too many unnecessary questions.
Visited Stolovaya for lunch. The Charcho and Russian-style chicken dumpling soups were excellent! The Kiev chicken (I had it with mashed potatoes and my wife had it with buckwheat) was disappointing - dry and lacking flavor, felt overpriced. Kompot was perfect. The atmosphere was good, bustling with people. Service was excellent and fast. Overall, it has a Soviet Union vibe, though the food quality back then felt better. Good for a quick bite. I'd suggest trying other items on the menu.
One of my family's favorite places, delicious and not expensive. The kebabs and salads are very tasty, but I don't recommend taking the fish (it tasted like it was frozen). Very rude waitresses, both of them, the guys who served us before were very polite and responsive. The women are rude, snap back and it feels like they've been there too long and don't want to hold on to their jobs😡
Deceptive charges on the bill I rarely write reviews, but this experience deserves attention. This cafe in Brooklyn operates with the same scam tactics that are becoming way too common lately. When we received the check, a service charge was already added. On top of that, they added tax ON the service charge, which is not right and not even supposed to happen. And of course, after all of this, they still suggest leaving an additional tip - which we did before noticing the issue. When I called the restaurant for clarification, the administrator immediately started with the typical line: “Was there something wrong with the service?” Our concern had nothing to do with the service - we simply wanted to understand why there were extra unexplained dollars on the bill. The only explanation we received was that “half of the service charge is a tip and it goes to the staff.” When I asked where the other half goes, nobody could give a clear answer. This is the same scheme used by places like Anatolian Gyro. Please, STOP scamming people P.S. Borsch soup goes without meat. It is a joke
Several people recommended this place to me. Today, I came specifically to eat. Honestly, I wasn't particularly impressed by the food, I took half a kharcho - the taste is normal for soup, home-style fried potatoes, which were oversalted, the chicken shashlik also tasted so-so, I didn't finish it. The atmosphere - you could hear a female waitress scolding another waiter about temperature control. For me, when I come somewhere to have a tasty meal, I wouldn't really want to listen to such things, I think the employees could solve such issues after work or before the start of the shift... Overall, I give it a 3, no more.
I never write reviews and especially on food that I am not native to. I love borscht! I have had borscht a thousand different ways since i was 8 or 9 and this was absolutely one of the worst I ever had! How do you make borscht with out meat and have the nerve to charge 20 for a half pint 🤔 and on top of that its like an American trying to be russian made the soup because u can clearly taste its tomato soup that just had veggies put in! Even if you dont put meat in it it should taste like it had some! No beef broth no beef no real taste of borscht. The beef stragnoff was good cold but good I am not the only person who had borscht and they are not happy I doubt we will ordering from here again ! Mind you I had been told to stop in but I most likely never will so sad cause I had been looking for a place to get Russian food from :(
