Opinions de Birds of a Feather Brooklyn
Service here is top notch! Never had an empty glass of water or wanted for anything - they even preemptively brought out extra napkins (which is always going to make me happy!!!) The food is not just hype - the dandan noodles are my favorite in the entire city. The fish filet is one of the greatest things I’ve ever eaten—spicy, crunchy, Szechuan perfection! And don’t miss the cold green beans in ginger sauce. Super refreshing with the hot & spicy dishes. Don’t miss their lychee martini either! Will forever love Birds of a Feather!
Birds of a Feather is one of those rare restaurants that truly delivers on both atmosphere and flavor. From the moment you walk in, the space feels warm, intimate, and thoughtfully designed — a perfect spot for a cozy dinner with friends or a special night out. The food is the real highlight. Every dish we ordered was beautifully presented and packed with bold, authentic flavors. You can really taste the care and creativity behind each plate. The menu offers a great balance between traditional Sichuan elements and modern twists, making it exciting even if you’ve had Sichuan food many times before. The spice levels are well-balanced, flavorful rather than overpowering, and every bite feels intentional. The service was attentive and friendly without being intrusive. The staff were knowledgeable about the menu and happy to give recommendations, which made the experience even better. Overall, Birds of a Feather is more than just a meal — it’s an experience. If you’re looking for elevated Chinese cuisine in a stylish, welcoming setting, this place is absolutely worth a visit. I would happily come back again.
Birds of a Feather never disappoints. I’ve been here multiple times, and each visit has been consistently excellent. The restaurant has a chic yet comfortable vibe that makes it suitable for both casual dinners and special occasions. The food is outstanding — rich flavors, high-quality ingredients, and thoughtful presentation. Their Sichuan-inspired dishes are full of depth and complexity, with just the right amount of heat. Even simple dishes feel elevated, and everything we ordered came out perfectly cooked. You can tell the kitchen pays close attention to detail. Service is another strong point. The staff are professional, welcoming, and efficient, and the timing of the dishes was spot on. We never felt rushed, which made the dining experience very enjoyable. If you’re a fan of modern Chinese cuisine or looking to try something new and memorable, Birds of a Feather is a must-try. Highly recommended, and I’ll definitely be returning.
First time here. Cant say enough wonderfulness about this restaurant. Every single bite of soft shell crab was scrumptious. The steamed dumplings. Out of this world. The baby ribs. Spectacular. Immaculate premises. Host and all staff could not be nicer or more helpful. A pure joy. The jasmine tea. Im hooked.
Fellow wood ear mushroom lovers of the world: try theirs! 🍄🟫I can’t stop thinking about them. Also recommend: soup buns, dan dan noodles, kung pao chicken, shrimp fried rice… and the eight jewel rice pudding for dessert (tasty as a breakfast leftover too). Lovely service and nice atmosphere too- sat at the long center banquet table with other diners. Looking forward to returning ASAP for more wood ear mushrooms ⚡️
We stumbled upon this lowkey restaurant situated in Williamsburg and it couldn't have been better. The dumplings in chili oil were some of the best dumplings I've ever had. The greenbeans with pork were delicious. The food is fresh, well crafted, thoughtful flavors, and yet still remains traditional. I will be dreaming of these dumplings forever.
5-Star Review for Birds of a Feather (Williamsburg, Brooklyn) Birds of a Feather – A True Gem for Foodies and Friend Hangouts! If you're looking for that perfect spot where incredible food meets unbeatable vibes, Birds of a Feather in Williamsburg is your answer. This Sichuan-inspired Chinese restaurant, born from the genius minds behind Michelin-starred Cafe China, nails the balance of authentic flavors and chill atmosphere every time. I've made it a ritual to come here with my crew – it's hands-down my top go-to place for group hangs. The space feels warm and inviting, with those subtle nods to Chengdu's laid-back greenery that make you forget you're in the heart of Brooklyn. Whether we're splitting plates after a long week or celebrating a birthday, the energy just flows – spacious tables, dim lighting, and that effortless cool factor that keeps conversations going all night. But let's talk food, because oh man, it's on another level. Top-tier doesn't even cover it – every dish is a flavor explosion. The Dan Dan noodles? Silky, spicy, and nutty perfection that had us all fighting for the last bite. We couldn't resist the cumin lamb skewers (smoky, tender, and addictive) or the mapo tofu, which brings just the right heat without overwhelming. Portions are generous for sharing, and the cocktails (shoutout to the yuzu margarita) cut through the spice like a dream. Service is spot-on too – attentive but not hovering, which lets you focus on the good times. Price-wise, it's a steal for the quality – expect around $50-70 per person with drinks, and you'll leave stuffed and smiling. If you love bold, authentic eats in a spot that's as fun for friends as it is delicious, do yourself a favor and book a table. Birds of a Feather isn't just a meal; it's a vibe. Can't wait to go back! 🌶️🍜 5/5 stars.
Birds of a Feather is a beautiful spot tucked away in Williamsburg that really stands out for its atmosphere and design. The space has this perfect balance of industrial and modern décor exposed brick, soft lighting, and elegant touches that make it feel both stylish and welcoming. It’s one of those restaurants where you notice the details right away, from the furniture to the way the dishes are plated. I stopped in for their lunch special, which I thought was a great deal. The prices are fairly affordable considering the quality and the portions the servings are actually quite large, so you definitely won’t leave hungry. I ordered the chili fish, and it was excellent flavorful, fresh, and just the right level of spice. The food came out quickly, which I really appreciated during lunch hours. I also tried the egg and scallion stuffed pancake, which ended up being one of my favorite parts of the meal. It’s crispy, savory, and full of flavor the kind of dish that makes you want to come back just for that. Overall, Birds of a Feather is a great place for a relaxed but elevated meal in Williamsburg. Highly recommend checking it out, especially for lunch.
Really delicious Sichuan dishes. The menu isn’t overwhelmingly large but has a good variety. Twice cooked pork belly and chongqing chicken were both really great. Soup dumplings and duck fried rice were pretty standard but solid and the food comes out really quick even though the place was full. Worked out to about $50pp with only tea for drinks and before tip.
This is my favorite Chinese restaurant in New York. The space is nicely decorated, comes with outdoor seatings. Service is fast. The food is the star of the show. The portions are large at this restaurant. The quality doesn't miss no matter if I dine in or order delivery. Chungking chicken comes with crunchy small chicken bites, loaded with chillies, packed with flavors and that mouth numbing spiciness. Kung pao chicken is tender, velvety texture. Spicy fish filled is my favorite dish; it's comes with small fried fish fillers, crunchy, perfect moisture level with that signature spiciness of szechuan chilies. Mapo tofu is also one of the must try dish, hot tofu on a bed of spicy ground pork sauce. It's perfect for any dinner meal. Spicy cumin lamb is absolutely the most tender and flavorful lamb I have had in a long time. Tea smoked duck offers juicy smoked duck slices, pairs well with buns and sauce. The restaurant can get really crowded during dinner time. It is suggested to get a reservation ahead of time or to stop by at odd hours to avoid waiting in line. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves to enjoy Chinese cuisine or just loves to incorporate chilies in their meals.
“In”-people go to Brooklyn, not to Manhattan anymore. Many excellent restaurants are found in that corner of the dense metropole. Among them birds of a feather, a Chinese-inspired cuisine of highest quality. The interior is cool with multiple individual tables and a major communal table in the center. The atmosphere is hectic but the staff remain calm and friendly. The food was outstanding with too many choices untested and requiring us to return in the future. (Originally posted by me on Yelp)
This is a sister restaurant of Cafe China (near Times Square) and is a slightly more upscale version of Cafe China. I like the ambience here much more. They have lots of outdoor as well as indoor seats. There’s a beautiful backstreet area with not much traffic, and it’s nice to sit there on a summer night. I really like the spring celtuce we had; even though it’s a standard dish, the shimeji mushrooms and wood ear mushrooms together with whole long red chilis and sliced garlic really enhanced the dish. For appetizer, the okra wrapped in bacon is truly delicious—I’ve never had this dish anywhere else and it’s a creative delight; the sauce is a little bit sweet (and not spicy) so I would say this is more “Peking duck style” rather than “Szechuan style”, nevertheless it’s really delicious! The pork tastes quite lean and absorbs the sauce perfectly. I really love the beef in chili oil dish! They have this dish at Cafe China but I don’t remember having kelp in it; the kelp really enhanced the favor and made it more complex; it tastes great! They use high-quality dry red chili. Portion size is great for the price. Great location.
I’ve been to Birds of a Feather four times now, and it never disappoints! The food is always so flavorful and cooked perfectly. It’s seriously one of my go-to spots. The staff is super helpful and attentive — they really make you feel taken care of. The vibe is chill but still kind of classy, which makes it a great place to hang out or go on a nice dinner. Highly recommend if you’re ever in Williamsburg!
The dishes were all flavorful with a perfect and balanced amount of Szechuan spice. We ordered an array of dishes and each one was better than the other. The atmosphere is simple and pretty, with a good service that’s attentive and kind. This makes it a great place for a dinner with friends. That explains why it is so popular and really packed, I would highly recommend you make a reservation. Would come again and recommend others to try it out.
