The food is SOOO GOOD. Like so damn good. There is something for meat-lovers. There is something for vegans. There is something for lovers of spice. There is something for those who fear spice. The delicious flavors are perfectly balanced with insanely fresh veggies. As a lover of kale, I am obsessed with how fresh the kale is every single time. Oh and the customer service is as good as the food. Give Brooklyn Suya a try and it’ll quickly enter your regular rotation.

I found my sidewalk seat in the sun at Dance Africa - wedged myself next to my family where mommy mode was suddenly high as soon as I sat to eat. Each bite took off the edge as I found my moment in every mouthful - I see you raw red onions, I feel you Suya magic sprinkles😏 💯 . Yes. I ate my eggplant fresh kale and crunchy sweet corn really appreciating the attention to detail with the meal and presentation. Especially as a lifelong vegetarian, I’m used to our food being an afterthought at some restaurants. I would have liked for the hot food to have been hotter but we were at a street fair. I saw what the team had to do to keep up with the demand on the street so I forgave it especially for the flavor and presentation. I’m definitely going to seek out the actual restaurant.

Such a hidden gem in Crown Heights! It’s difficult, but not too difficult, to find West African food in New York. This hole-in-the-wall hits the spot in terms of flavor and price, with a limited menu. The food takes a bit long to prepare, but the quality of the food is excellent. The staff here are very nice and talkative.

T

Love the food here. It's consistently great, with healthy portion sizes. The music inside is always fun and they are friendly.

The food here is delicious! You have a small variety of choices for what you want to add as toppings, and all of it is incredible! Service was great and the woman behind the counter was super helpful with answering any questions one might have. Seemed like a great spot to grab some food to-go and enjoy the music for a few minutes when waiting for your food. Will definitely be back!

I love Suya! A small gem with a perfect sheen. Everything from this restaurant tastes amazing! I personally love eating their steak and shrimp bowls, but you can never go wrong with chicken. Their perfect mix creates a range of exotic flavors that will literally make you dream about them, then wake up craving them.

R
Raphael Del Rio

The only bowl in NYC with the correct amount of seasoning. All the other bowls in this town need seasoning lessons from Brooklyn Suya. I can’t bowl anywhere else now.

Had a great experience here. Came with a friend who was visiting, and I got the chicken Suya bowl. Chicken was cooked perfectly and the flavors were DELICIOUS. would definitely return here!! Also since we were there on a Saturday night towards closing time, the owners ended up treating us to some tequila shots. They were so friendly and nice, it was overall a really fun time.

Went here for a quick lunch. I got a medium suya bowl with plantains and rice and it was plenty of food for me! I got medium spice which was the perfect amount of flavor and spiciness. It was absolutely delicious! The sauces they use gave it so many different flavors. And the veggies were very fresh. The place is a little smaller than expected so not much room to eat in, but they have stools and a small counter to eat at. I will definitely be going back to try the other types of suya they have.

J

The food here is awesome. What's so great it has veggie options and the flavors are amazing. If you like spicy this is your place (mild, medium, hot) and don't worry you can opt out for those that can't handle the heat.

I've been going here since it opened, If you've never tried african food, this is a great place to start. Whatever preperceived notions you have in your mind about african food It will definitely change your perspective. My favorite restaurant in brooklyn hands down, and the spices are immaculate. Blessings to the staff & owners - Bones

The salmon and eggplant were unreal. Such friendly and helpful staff! The spice mix is divine. The menu is a bit limited/confusing at first glance, but it is sooo worth it. Can’t recommend enough!

It was my first time trying Suya. Great customer service, great food. We will definitely eat here more often when we move to town . We've had the shrimp bowl and just suya. We purchased the atomic seasoning and almost finished the bottle. Keep up the good work and may your establishment continue to flourish this year ❤.

delicious suya with authentic flavors, excellent customer service, and cozy atmosphere. definitely coming back for more!

R

I have not had Suya before so I can't comment on authenticity but the bowl was damn delicious. I had a mix of shrimp and chicken over kale, medium spice with both sauces - sweet and something that looked like sriracha mayo - pardon my ignorance. I ordered in person and waited no more than 10 minutes. Staff was friendly, and the music and aromas were great. There were paper bags, utensils, and napkins set out by the door so you could do your own packaging to go. I ordered the large and they really packed it. I was satisfied with the quantity for the price.

I cant count how many times I’ve had Brooklyn Suya. The food is so flavorful. As a big fella I eat quite a bit and one bowl puts me to sleep in flavor town. The staff is always super nice and on the first day I went there they explained the spices and stuff to me which was helpful. In the summer time the vibe radiates from the store and onto the street; everyone is just having an incredible time with good food. 10/10 would recommend!

The beef was perfectly seasoned. I had a medium beef bowl, spicy and it was the best tasting meal that I have had in quite awhile. It was so good I'm going to ask my wife to pick me up some tomorrow 🔥.

I visited Brooklyn Suya with my mom for the 1st time today because of a recommendation from someone & I must say it was a pleasant experience! The young lady at the register Toya was so warm, welcoming, & accommodating. You can look at the food & tell that everything is fresh. It was a great mix of protein & fresh veggies. I had the steak & rice bowl while my mother had the shrimp & rice bowl.

The chicken over rice was amazing! Next time im in the area i will definitely be having some again. Great value and very tasty! I got the spiciest option - if you're used to eating spice then the highest level is fine

So good! If you want an affordable meal that is packed with flavors and served by an amazing crew of people, this is the place. Try their steak or chicken with any sides you like (I prefer the plantains and veggies) and don't forget the sauces. Honestly some.of the best bowls in all of Brooklyn.

Love this place. Food is fresh, portions are large, vibes impeccable. There can be a line sometimes but still worth it. I recommend half-kale/half-rice as a base and as much of their aioli type sauce as possible.

D

I came with a friend today, and I got the chicken suya with egg/kale/rice. The mix of spices in the bowl was simply amazing, it was sweet and savory and spicy all at the same time. I absolutely loved this meal! We also loved the staff working here, who were all super friendly.

I am a resident physician at Stony Brook Medicine and we had a Nigerian cultural event this week. I contacted the owner of the restaurant and from day one, he had excellent communication and was super accommodating. My co- residents and other staff members were very pleased with the food to the point that they asked for more. I will definitely reached out for their catering services in the future. Thank you again for being accommodating and nice! :) #NaijaNoDeyCarryLast

Amazing people, greeted with smiles and the main thing is the food. It’s clean, tasty, and I actually felt good and energized after eating not bloated and sleepy. Will come again next time I’m in the area. Of course you have to get the steak bowl!

My wife and I were in the mood for something different so we gave this place a shot, ended up being a great decision. We both got our dishes "spicy" which had a decent heat level, definitely not overwhelming by any means. I had chicken and she had tofu and both were phenomenal, every bite was delicious and everything in the bowl worked very nicely together. It was a truly unique flavor profile for me and something I had never encountered but now that I have, I look forward to eating it again. The sauce had a sweetness that perfectly balanced the dish and it was not overpowering at all. Highly recommend

FOOD A1. Customer Service A1111. I stopped here while I was working b/c my coworkers recommend here to me. I think her name was Toya. She was amazing, I loved her energy. She literally went above & beyond and that was my first time there. Definitely my new spot now. & once again the foood!! Amazing

I got a salmon bowl with a mild spice level, a rice base, peanut aioli sauce (sooo yummy), avocado, and veggies. They even threw in some kale, which I absolutely love. The food was amazing! It was a little spicy for me, but honestly, I’d eat it again and again and again. So delicious. I really loved it! Thanks Slice for telling me and recommending this awesome place , it will definitely be a go to for me !

K

I want to start by saying the food itself it delicious and that’s why I’m giving it 5 stars but the logistics of ordering from this place could use some help. Pretty consistently I get something a little off with my order. I’m not a picky eater but like… that’s not what I ordered. If they are out of stock of an item they need to mark that on the app instead of just replacing it with something I didn’t ask for. For example once they gave me plantain instead of avocado. I would’ve appreciated a call to ask me what I want instead OR refund me the extra money I paid for the avocado. Otherwise like I said the food itself is delicious!

J

Lived on Classon right down the street from this spot. Discovered it one day when my roommate and her friend visiting at the time had this and was damn near having a epic moment with every bite and I had to make it a point to stop in the next day. This place was so damn bomb that I purchased a variety box of their Suya product so I can always have that Suya on hand for my pantry. I miss living in NYC. Loved back my hometown during g the tail end of COVID right as things were slowly starting to ease up in the fall of 2021. A couple of bottles left from my last time ordering. If the owners are reading this, Please don’t ever stop producing your blend guys. It was always a pleasure trying to spark yo conversation with these brothers. Some days at least one person was obviously short with their time and effort though which I can understand due to the small enclosed environment working in a hot kitchen but for me what makes place like this stand out is the added community experience you receive. For the most part, when I was able to build and converse freely with someone, it was mad love. As a young artist and creative professional, experiences like that are valuable

I have been eating Brooklyn Suya since 2019. I was BEYOND THRILLED when I found out they opened on in flatbush. The quality is exactly the same! Food has also been amazing! Love it so much I buy the suya season from them At least once a month.

Day trip to Brooklyn and decided to give this place a try. My friend heard about it from a blogger, I wasnt familiar. You can basically either go with a standard bowl or create your own. I opted for the chicken, rice, veggies and medium spice. If you are allergic to peanuts you cannot eat here because peanuts are used in everything. It does take some time to complete order because everything is made fresh. The ONLY thing I would have liked was to have an option to eat inside but it is a small establishment. HOWEVER! I sat outside at the picnic table provided. I took a few bites of the bowl before we started walking and while it was still hot. All I can say is OMG!!!! It was sooooo flavorful. It was so good that I went back in and ordered another bowl (salmon with eggplant) to take home to have for lunch the next day. Staff is very welcoming and make it a good experience. You can even get your picture taken for their wall. I will MOST DEFINITELY come back next time/whenever I visit Brooklyn. And Ive already told some friends about it!!!

I got the chicken bowl with aioli sauce. It was really really good. Been wanting to try it for a long time now and I’ll definitely be back. The spices wasn’t as spicy as I thought it would be but it’s just enough for me. I had the first spice. I’m not really into kale too much but I definitely enjoyed it.

Three words that summarize this restaurant are quality, passion, and flavor. The food is quality, the chefs are passionate about cooking, and the meal was flavorful. I give it 11/10! Definitely give this restaurant a try.

The salmon bowl is one of the best meals I've eaten in my stay here in Brooklyn. Perfect amount of heat, spice, and intense flavor and no issues with anything being tough or over/undercooked. The suya seasoning and peanut aioli sauce are magical. I don't care if they've increased their prices, the food is wonderful and reasonable. Highly recommend!

My mom, sister, and I had the pleasure of experiencing Brooklyn Suya. We visited the city from MD for a quick weekend getaway and my mom insisted that we stop here based on some great reviews she saw online/travel vlogger. We got 3 different bowls but managed to have a bit of each of the protein items on the menu. I need to go back and praise Toya from Guyana ! She was amazing and made the whole experience top knotch. From taking our pics in front of the restaurant to making sure we were satisfied with our order selections. Her energy was infectious and we appreciated her setting up a nice spot for us to sit and eat. The food was very fresh and the proteins were cooked perfectly, no tough meats over here. We really enjoyed all our dishes and will never forget our visit here. Toya even gave us one the Polaroid pics she took of us as a souvenir. 10/10 for the entire experience !

Wow super flavorful spiced food!! We loved the bowl with eggplants and tofu. Both especially the eggplants were grilled and flavored to perfection! The volume was also plenty and filling. Nice thing is the place is totally refined sugar free! one of the sauces uses honey. Staff were friendly. Wait was long on a Sunday night

A

This spot is amazing, I polished off the medium size bowl pretty quickly. I had the kale base, so maybe not as filling as the rice would’ve been, but it was delicious. My friend who had the rice said it had a touch of sweetness to it. The veggie add on is one of the better options from the choices because you really do get a great variety and a lot of it. I had the level 2 spice and definitely felt the heat, so proceed with caution. Also the sweet sauce you can add on top is delicious, but very sweet that next time I might get it on the side instead. There’s also some tables/ benches outside. Will definitely be coming back.

C
Cathy K

My new favorite quick, easy and fresh, healthier option in the area! Tried the grilled chicken but will also try their shrimp next time. They cook the chicken outside on the grill, and while you wait outside, you can watch the grill and jam to the music playing until they call your name or bring out the order. I got a medium bowl but surprisingly still had a decent bit of leftovers that still tasted great next day. Love their rice with some coconut flavor in it and the perfectly cooked plantain.

Thant Zin Htet

The food is robust and savory. Even with the mild spices, the taste is out of this world. The chef never cuts corners and always spends a decent amount of time in cooking food. Hands down the best Nigerian food in Crown Heights. I would definitely eat it again.

Excellent bowl of chicken, tofu, veggies, and rice. Came out to be more expensive than I anticipated, even though I was warned the veggies would cost extra (around $1.5 I think). Not sure if the additional protein cost me more as well. It probably did. In any case, I did not expect to spend almost $25 (incl. tip) for a bowl. Again, delicious food but just a bit pricey.

Our area needed exactly this kind of place. The kitchen produces quality and the staff produces smiles. The service was excellent and timely; and the staff were very courteous and helpful. The food quantity is impressive and the salad was vibrant. The entire visit was remarkably pleasant.

About time I left a review for this place. Been coming for almost a year now. Love it!! Food is fantastic!! The vibe is too!! It's a fusion of Nigerian, Caribbean & soul food. Healthy, nutritious & flavorful. I usually go for their salmon or chicken bowls. The Suya spice is the cherry on top (quite literally haha). The people who work here are very nice as well, especially the owner. It's a grab-and-go spot with one bench outside for seating but they have a new location that opened up on Rogers with an indoor dining space. A very happy customer here. Thank you, Brooklyn Suya for being a neighborhood 💎

All the reviews that complain like “they gave me 1 cucumber when I asked for 3” or “I got a plantain that I didn’t ask for” — should be deleted bc they’re irrelevant. It’s so good don’t listen to those people just go anyway who cares if u get a bonus plantain

We were hanging out at Outlandish and by chance, we met the wonderful folks from Brooklyn Suya. We had just eaten, but they gave an incredible pitch for their food, so we ordered it to bring it to the airport with us. This food is delicious! We’re no doubt eating the best meal in JFK.

RUN and get yourself a bowl from Brooklyn Suya!!! The food is so flavorful, delicious, perfectly seasoned with good-sized portions. I got the steak suya bowl with mild suya spice, rice, kale and spinach with both sauces! I was very pleased and will definitely be back! And the prices are very reasonable. The only downside is it’s quite small on the inside so there’s no seating inside. Only a few benches outside. But it’s the perfect place to pick up a bowl to-go!

Brooklyn Suyas Pop Up at the Franklin Bar was an absolute treat, especially during Nigerian Independence week. The fish was seasoned to perfection, the suya sampler offered a delicious variety, and the lamb was truly top tier, tender and packed with flavor. These pop-ups are more than just about the food; they’re a powerful way to bring local businesses together and foster collaboration within the community. It's fitting that this celebration of culture happened during independence week. If you haven't checked out one of these events, you're seriously missing out. Thank me later!

When Guy Fiery says “take me to flavor town”, this is what he means! The chicken, rice, and eggplant are perfectly seasoned with traditional spices that gives it a smokey and spicy kick. The plantains were a delicious addition. The restaurant is take out only but there are a few benches to sit and eat outside

Absolutely amazing. So much flavor and so many fresh ingredients packed into a bowl. The medium is a great level of spice where you can still really taste and enjoy all the different flavors of the blend.

I order from here multiple times a week. It’s that good. And with the nice weather, they’ve brought out the grill to cook the protein in larger batches and it smells like heaven all around the building. I’m typically ordering their chicken bowl with a rice base, it comes with a little kale, avocado, plantain, and egg as extra. I’m Jamaican, and even tho I LOVE spicy food, I go with their level 2 spice (1-4) and it’s amazing. Their two different sauces are the perfect final addition to bring all the flavors together.

S
Sarah Patch

All the points for flavor! 😍 And almost all the textures are great. Minus one star because the quality of how well the protein is cooked is super hit or miss. The first time I had it, chicken was cooked well. The second time, the chicken was without question the toughest, most over-cooked chicken I’ve ever had in my life. 3rd time it was cooked perfectly. 4th time back to tough. But, I will keep ordering from them because it’s so delicious overall.

The suya meat itself didn't really taste Nigerian but the suya sauce(spice) was spectacular and authentic

G

I want to love this spot. I really do as my wife and I order for here quite a bit. Don't get me wrong, the food is very flavorful and typically high quality. But they are never consistent. One day the chicken is nice and juicy. Then, the next time it's so overcooked that it is rock hard. One order the bowl is full to the top with excellent kale but the not so fresh kale with the bowl half way filled. I am trying hard to love this spot but it doesn't help when they don't have a certain level of consistency.

E

The food here is gentrified African food, but the Suya Bowls were SOOO Good. First time trying the restaurant, the music playing outside and the word suya drew me in to try the food. I was expecting grilled beef on a skewer stick with lots of onions dusted in dry spiciness. I ordered the steak bowl with a kale and rice combo, plantain with the peanut aioli sauce on top. The food was really good, it still had the taste of Africa. The food was fresh and my meat straight off the grill smoker. The onions were plenty which I liked with a few cucumber slices placed in the bowl. I enjoyed my meal very much as I dined outside on their picnic tables enjoying the R&B tunes playing from the speaker. I was bit disappointed I was given only one slice of plantain, the plantain was fried to perfection and really sweet, I had wish I had a few more added to my bowl. This will be a repeat place I would visit if I'm every back in the Brooklyn area.

M

Yummy, filling, and unique spice blend and flavor profile! It is just a takeout bowl though and I think $15 is a bit of a steep price, would have hit the spot under $12

Nice spot to get Nigerian suya. It's a takeout spot with benches outside for people who want to sit and enjoy the atmosphere of the busy street. The suya spices come in varying hotness levels. It's delicious. I recommend.

G

My taste buds said Wow to the Suya! Nice portion. Would have liked a little less red onions and bit more avocado. The steak was a bit tough. I would try some other menu options. The playlist was bomb, in brief minutes I was there, I was able to shazam a song playing. 👍🏻Luv good music, like good food.

Hands down one of the savoriest bowls of delicious food you WILL EVER have. Hands down. The ONLY negative is you will LEGIT wait an hour for your food. Even if you do UBER and pick it up yourself. Time your hunger with an hour to spare.

First tried this place months ago when they were vending at the Brooklyn museum! My partner and I ordered Takeout from them and were thoroughly impressed! The food was so flavorful and the servings were a great portion! The bad thing was there was a piece of foil stuck to the chicken on my partners food :( just want to bring this to the attention of the staff because Suya is SO good and I’m sure it was a mistake.

I love spicy food, this shrimp and tofu bowl I ate was heat and on fire for my taste buds. Immaculate cozy space and self service utensils so dont forget to grab them. Salmon bowl is tasty, but the rice was too mushy and got grainy aftertaste for my bowl experience. Overall, I love the bitter lemon schweppes soda that we paired the bowls with.

It’s good! Although if you’re looking for proper Nigerian suya, this isn’t it - more like her biracial Westernized cousin. You probably could already tell by the ability to pick & choose a spice level lmao (level 4/ Lagos Fire is what you should be ordering if you want the classic suya spiciness). Food wise, the meat wasn’t hard but wasn’t as tender as it could’ve been. It was tasty enough, but not mind blowing. Vegetables were really fresh! The sauces were delicious and I feel like they’d be the perfect accompaniment for something - but not suya & rice. I’m saving them for next time I order wings or a burger or something, I think they’d go great with that. Don’t get confused by the yellow color - the rice is not fried rice. Tastes exactly the yellow rice you get from Mexican places. Speaking of which, I do appreciate the Mexican-inspired concept & presentation - with the bowls etc. Super cute way of serving suya! Here is sure to be a huge hit for people unaccustomed to Nigerian food. But if you’ve had truly great suya (Glover Court, Abuja spots, etc iykyk) and know what Nigerian "yellow" (fried) rice should be like, you might be underwhelmed. I’d definitely keep here in mind for vegan/vegetarian friends for the tofu & eggplant "suya" - which is cool and a very smart addition to make it accessible to those with dietary restrictions. Might also try the salmon someday. But I wouldn’t rush to order the beef again (and the chicken too I suspect), as if I’m spending on food I need to be crazy delicious/something I couldn’t make better at home - but it’s still money well spent. It’s not great, but it’s good. PS. Leave your dreams of leftovers behind, the large bowl is enough for exactly one meal.

Tried the extra spicy Steak Suya and regular spicy one and the extra spicy had the best flavor. Absolutely delicious. Order regular spicy is you can’t handle spicy foods because it is a bit difficult to eat. Definitely recommend, try it.

I have eaten from this place almost everyday for the past 2 weeks, I absolutely LOVE their Shrimp and steak bowls. I was disappointed however this past Friday, the kale was raw, bitter and unseasoned and so were the veggies. The rice and shrimp were also bland and not enough seasoning overall. I am hesitant to order again because I don't know if they permanently changed their chef?!

Didn't meet suya expectations. I like the vegetable sides though.

Its ok for new york suya, however it would be garbage for legos or kaduna suya. I live in nigeria for 4 years and i know what really good suya taste like. How it should be cooked and presented. I can't find better in brookly, so i slum.

I got the steak suya and rice. The steak suya was the highlight and tasted very nice. But unfortunately the rest of the meal wasn't special, just plain rice and vegetables. The portion size is good value for money.

We tired this food at a block party, it had potential but maybe because of the demand the food wasn’t as good as it could be. The steak was tough, like couldn’t even eat it tough, the chicken was way too dry and there was too much of the seasoning on the top. The veggie plate we had was the best of the bunch. I think I’d like to revisit the actual location to compare and update my review once I do.

Tasty food and friendly staff. Unfortunately half of the meat in my bowl were pieces of fat and gristle. Some things should be trimmed off before cooking as it decreases the quality and makes the food not worth the cost.

First time trying this place and it didn’t suit my palate. I ordered the tofu suya with plantain kale and rice and spicy suya on top. It wasn’t enough suya. They only gave me a tablespoon of kale. The tofu was rubbery. The rice and plantain was mediocre. I had called first to find out what kind of rice they had and a woman with a trini accent was rude. She said long grain rice all fast then I said what kind of rice…is it jollof or white and she said rudely no yellow and hung up on me. That was a red flag to not even order but I took a chance and ordered anyway. I did not enjoy the meal. I ate some rice and some of the plantain and a few pieces of the rubbery tofu. I was at work and hungry. I won’t order again.

10/10 on taste but I got scammed bad there. I had the large 25 dollars bowl and it was a 25 dollars bowl of onions.

Good spicing, but the quality of the ingredients was not good at all: extremely dry and stringy chicken, mealy tomatoes (even though it's the height of tomato season here), and the bowl I ordered contained a huge amount of raw red onions and very little greens. For half the price, juicy and delectable jerk chicken can be found nearby. Not understanding the many 5 star reviews here

The food here is delicious! The issue is everytime I order and I mean everytime- even in store there's always missing ingredients! So many times I've been charged extra and never received what I payed for. Last night I ordered a large salmon bowl with egg and plantain and paid extra for avocado all I got was the salmon, rice, kale and cucumbers and 3 pieces of tomato, I was disappointed once again 😕I think I'm gonna take a break for awhile now

Overall not the Nigerian suya I was expecting! The sauces were good and a good amount of spice. The meat was cut way too large and not tender which made it very hard to eat. The rice was watery and sweet in flavor

Took over an hour, there’s no waiting space and the staff was very rude

Came in, warned them of my egg allergy, and asked for no mayo. They confirmed that information. But when the order arrived, they had put the mayo-based sauce on the order. So I went back, and they remade the bowl. I brought the remade bowl home, opened it, and saw that they had added a whole egg (!) What a waste of time and money.

I’ve been coming here for a few years and food was always great. I would get a large steak bowl (extra $3 for steak) and could never finish it. Went back to get my Brooklyn suya fix and bowls have changed from a deep recyclable paper bowl to the black plastic bowl (not sure if the size is smaller but it feels smaller), AND they must have changed the chef. The rice use to be seasoned and had such a nice flavor, now it’s just bland white rice. The steak use to be soft and juicy and melted in your mouth, now it’s tough, dry and hard to chew. Very disappointing. I might try this place one more time for a chicken bowl but please, please, please get the old rice back and fix the cook on the steak. The service was fine and the atmosphere was clean inside and out.

Anything time I order from this restaurant via Uber or DoorDash it is always an issue. It should never take more than two hours to receive a food order. This restaurant has been open for sometime now, and the service is always terrible! In addition, when the food arrived it was cold and hard. Terrible service all around.

I hate to drop a negative review during tough times, but it took over an hour from ordering to receiving my order, which was unacceptable. I found out half an hour in that the team lost track of my ticket. The chicken was tough, dry, and underseasoned. Vegetables were stingy--like two leaves of raw kale, three limp spears of asparagus, two raw grape tomatoes. The Suya (namesake spicy peanut-based paste) itself was delicious, I just wish there were more of it. Lots of sweet red onions. Not the best value for the price (even with promotion through my credit card).

I was truly looking forward to tasting Brooklyn Suya based on the reviews. However, after trying the beef and chicken suya, I was very disappointed for several reasons. First, this isn’t suya. This is broiled beef with seasoning, chicken cooked with sprinkled suya seasoning, appreciate the salad and brown rice. I suggest the owner visit London UK or Nigeria the origin of suya if they really want to sell suya. People here giving good reviews most likely never ate suya before. Secondly, this had never happened to me before, but as I was chewing I felt something sharp in my mouth only to discover a piece of glass. Like whaaaat? This could have sliced my throat. How did a piece of glass got into the food? Thirdly, my daughter find a piece of long black hair in her food entangled on her broccoli. Seriously health and safety issues. I would not recommend this place. Sorry!

If you’re going to bring a dish from Nigeria to life in Brooklyn New York do it the right way ! First and foremost my pictures speak for themselves. This is not how SUYA beef is sliced for consumption. Why would you serve big chunks of meat like that in a bowel on a bed of kale. Next it was tasteless no flavor in the meat only the sprinkle seasoning on top had flavor. First time and last time I was so disappointed waste of money ! Tough dry big thick pieces of tasteless beef. If it was flavored beef that has been marinated and juicy I could go home and slide it up, fair enough I would not have been so upset. But these huge pieces is not easily edible SUYA IS SERVED IN BITE SIZED PIECES not these huge pieces bigger then an Oreo cookie. And for a salad bowl this is crazy. Y’all gotta do better this is not fair to customers! The good reviews yall were lucky based on the protein yall picked cause the beef was a big fail! Not to be compared to real SUYA in Nigeria !
