Tip: Order the extra spicy Steak Suya for the best flavor, but be prepared for the heat! If you can't handle spice, go for the regular spicy.

Wow super flavorful spiced food!! We loved the bowl with eggplants and tofu. Both especially the eggplants were grilled and flavored to perfection! The volume was also plenty and filling. Nice thing is the place is totally refined sugar free! one of the sauces uses honey. Staff were friendly. Wait was long on a Sunday night
This spot is amazing, I polished off the medium size bowl pretty quickly. I had the kale base, so maybe not as filling as the rice would’ve been, but it was delicious. My friend who had the rice said it had a touch of sweetness to it. The veggie add on is one of the better options from the choices because you really do get a great variety and a lot of it. I had the level 2 spice and definitely felt the heat, so proceed with caution. Also the sweet sauce you can add on top is delicious, but very sweet that next time I might get it on the side instead. There’s also some tables/ benches outside. Will definitely be coming back.
My new favorite quick, easy and fresh, healthier option in the area! Tried the grilled chicken but will also try their shrimp next time. They cook the chicken outside on the grill, and while you wait outside, you can watch the grill and jam to the music playing until they call your name or bring out the order. I got a medium bowl but surprisingly still had a decent bit of leftovers that still tasted great next day. Love their rice with some coconut flavor in it and the perfectly cooked plantain.
The food is robust and savory. Even with the mild spices, the taste is out of this world. The chef never cuts corners and always spends a decent amount of time in cooking food. Hands down the best Nigerian food in Crown Heights. I would definitely eat it again.
This place gives you premier dining without premier costs. The people here aren't excessively warm but definitely helpful. This place leaves a lasting impression. Each bite offers something interesting. Full support of this place.
Excellent bowl of chicken, tofu, veggies, and rice. Came out to be more expensive than I anticipated, even though I was warned the veggies would cost extra (around $1.5 I think). Not sure if the additional protein cost me more as well. It probably did. In any case, I did not expect to spend almost $25 (incl. tip) for a bowl. Again, delicious food but just a bit pricey.
Our area needed exactly this kind of place. The kitchen produces quality and the staff produces smiles. The service was excellent and timely; and the staff were very courteous and helpful. The food quantity is impressive and the salad was vibrant. The entire visit was remarkably pleasant.
About time I left a review for this place. Been coming for almost a year now. Love it!! Food is fantastic!! The vibe is too!! It's a fusion of Nigerian, Caribbean & soul food. Healthy, nutritious & flavorful. I usually go for their salmon or chicken bowls. The Suya spice is the cherry on top (quite literally haha). The people who work here are very nice as well, especially the owner. It's a grab-and-go spot with one bench outside for seating but they have a new location that opened up on Rogers with an indoor dining space. A very happy customer here. Thank you, Brooklyn Suya for being a neighborhood 💎
We were hanging out at Outlandish and by chance, we met the wonderful folks from Brooklyn Suya. We had just eaten, but they gave an incredible pitch for their food, so we ordered it to bring it to the airport with us. This food is delicious! We’re no doubt eating the best meal in JFK.
RUN and get yourself a bowl from Brooklyn Suya!!! The food is so flavorful, delicious, perfectly seasoned with good-sized portions. I got the steak suya bowl with mild suya spice, rice, kale and spinach with both sauces! I was very pleased and will definitely be back! And the prices are very reasonable. The only downside is it’s quite small on the inside so there’s no seating inside. Only a few benches outside. But it’s the perfect place to pick up a bowl to-go!
Brooklyn Suyas Pop Up at the Franklin Bar was an absolute treat, especially during Nigerian Independence week. The fish was seasoned to perfection, the suya sampler offered a delicious variety, and the lamb was truly top tier, tender and packed with flavor. These pop-ups are more than just about the food; they’re a powerful way to bring local businesses together and foster collaboration within the community. It's fitting that this celebration of culture happened during independence week. If you haven't checked out one of these events, you're seriously missing out. Thank me later!
When Guy Fiery says “take me to flavor town”, this is what he means! The chicken, rice, and eggplant are perfectly seasoned with traditional spices that gives it a smokey and spicy kick. The plantains were a delicious addition. The restaurant is take out only but there are a few benches to sit and eat outside
I order from here multiple times a week. It’s that good. And with the nice weather, they’ve brought out the grill to cook the protein in larger batches and it smells like heaven all around the building. I’m typically ordering their chicken bowl with a rice base, it comes with a little kale, avocado, plantain, and egg as extra. I’m Jamaican, and even tho I LOVE spicy food, I go with their level 2 spice (1-4) and it’s amazing. Their two different sauces are the perfect final addition to bring all the flavors together.
Hands down one of the savoriest bowls of delicious food you WILL EVER have. Hands down. The ONLY negative is you will LEGIT wait an hour for your food. Even if you do UBER and pick it up yourself. Time your hunger with an hour to spare.
First tried this place months ago when they were vending at the Brooklyn museum! My partner and I ordered Takeout from them and were thoroughly impressed! The food was so flavorful and the servings were a great portion! The bad thing was there was a piece of foil stuck to the chicken on my partners food :( just want to bring this to the attention of the staff because Suya is SO good and I’m sure it was a mistake.
I love spicy food, this shrimp and tofu bowl I ate was heat and on fire for my taste buds. Immaculate cozy space and self service utensils so dont forget to grab them. Salmon bowl is tasty, but the rice was too mushy and got grainy aftertaste for my bowl experience. Overall, I love the bitter lemon schweppes soda that we paired the bowls with.
It’s good! Although if you’re looking for proper Nigerian suya, this isn’t it - more like her biracial Westernized cousin. You probably could already tell by the ability to pick & choose a spice level lmao (level 4/ Lagos Fire is what you should be ordering if you want the classic suya spiciness). Food wise, the meat wasn’t hard but wasn’t as tender as it could’ve been. It was tasty enough, but not mind blowing. Vegetables were really fresh! The sauces were delicious and I feel like they’d be the perfect accompaniment for something - but not suya & rice. I’m saving them for next time I order wings or a burger or something, I think they’d go great with that. Don’t get confused by the yellow color - the rice is not fried rice. Tastes exactly the yellow rice you get from Mexican places. Speaking of which, I do appreciate the Mexican-inspired concept & presentation - with the bowls etc. Super cute way of serving suya! Here is sure to be a huge hit for people unaccustomed to Nigerian food. But if you’ve had truly great suya (Glover Court, Abuja spots, etc iykyk) and know what Nigerian "yellow" (fried) rice should be like, you might be underwhelmed. I’d definitely keep here in mind for vegan/vegetarian friends for the tofu & eggplant "suya" - which is cool and a very smart addition to make it accessible to those with dietary restrictions. Might also try the salmon someday. But I wouldn’t rush to order the beef again (and the chicken too I suspect), as if I’m spending on food I need to be crazy delicious/something I couldn’t make better at home - but it’s still money well spent. It’s not great, but it’s good. PS. Leave your dreams of leftovers behind, the large bowl is enough for exactly one meal.
I was truly looking forward to tasting Brooklyn Suya based on the reviews. However, after trying the beef and chicken suya, I was very disappointed for several reasons. First, this isn’t suya. This is broiled beef with seasoning, chicken cooked with sprinkled suya seasoning, appreciate the salad and brown rice. I suggest the owner visit London UK or Nigeria the origin of suya if they really want to sell suya. People here giving good reviews most likely never ate suya before. Secondly, this had never happened to me before, but as I was chewing I felt something sharp in my mouth only to discover a piece of glass. Like whaaaat? This could have sliced my throat. How did a piece of glass got into the food? Thirdly, my daughter find a piece of long black hair in her food entangled on her broccoli. Seriously health and safety issues. I would not recommend this place. Sorry!
If you’re going to bring a dish from Nigeria to life in Brooklyn New York do it the right way ! First and foremost my pictures speak for themselves. This is not how SUYA beef is sliced for consumption. Why would you serve big chunks of meat like that in a bowel on a bed of kale. Next it was tasteless no flavor in the meat only the sprinkle seasoning on top had flavor. First time and last time I was so disappointed waste of money ! Tough dry big thick pieces of tasteless beef. If it was flavored beef that has been marinated and juicy I could go home and slide it up, fair enough I would not have been so upset. But these huge pieces is not easily edible SUYA IS SERVED IN BITE SIZED PIECES not these huge pieces bigger then an Oreo cookie. And for a salad bowl this is crazy. Y’all gotta do better this is not fair to customers! The good reviews yall were lucky based on the protein yall picked cause the beef was a big fail! Not to be compared to real SUYA in Nigeria !
