Wow. This place is seriously incredible. Go, you will not regret it. My bf and I agreed to get different items so we could get a feel of both the Korean and Syrian aspects. My meat shawarma was impeccable, it had amazing flavors from the beef and the vegetables, and it was perfectly portioned. Hummus on the inside was an amazing touch! I ate the whole thing. Bf had the fat boy, and DANG they weren’t lying cus it was FAT. The Korean pancake was crispy on the edges, buttery, and had the perfect texture. The sauce on the beef was light and delicious. And the red sauce on the side was so spicy, flavorful… it elevated and complimented the whole sandwich. On top of it, the staff was so friendly, kind and patient with us. We were unfamiliar with some of the food items and they really took the time to help us with anything we had questions on, and gave great suggestions! Overall, the food is amazing and made with love. So happy this is in our neighborhood, it was our first time and will very much be coming back soon to try the rest of the menu!

Syko is amaaaazing! The food is incredibly delicious, beautiful, and unique. The owners James and Mazen create magic in this small storefront, with pleasant outdoor seating when it's warm enough to dine Al fresco. This was my second visit to this genius place of many flavors - no bland food here! This time, two friends and I shared a Chicken Fatboy (Korean), Kimchi Fries (Korean fusion), Shawarma Sandwich (Syrian), and Shawarma Pizza (Syrian-Korean). So much food! And so tasty! James and Mazen are super nice and great hosts. Highly recommended!

Beyond amazing with their Syrian menu. Their Shawrma & Falafel sandwiches are to die for. The vegetarian Kebbeh is a killer. I absolutely love their brunch menu every weekend as they get very creative. I tried many Korean dishes & they are full of flavors. Jabchae is my number one dish. Can’t go wrong with Chicken poppers & Bulgogi Fatboy. Can’t wait to try more dishes. I absolutely recommend this place as everyone is super friendly & helpful recommending options. I hope it stays this good as many restaurants in NYC are very disappointing since the pandemic.

Great food and great service. Everything we ordered was delicious, portion sizes are very generous, and the service was extremely hospitable. The store space is a bit small with limited seating for dining in, so if they're busy make sure to get your food to go. We came with 5 people and they happily set us up with a table outside. Highly recommend if you're in the Prospect Park area.

Probably the nicest people you will ever meet ever. I personally have never had Korean or Syrian food. But this was a very warm welcome into their culture. I had the Bibibap which is like a stir fry of vegetables with rice and an egg. And I had THE BEST DESERT EVER, the Hotteok. Which is a pancake with brown sugar and a scoop of ice cream in a cup. 10/10, and the Bibibap was SPECTACULAR. It had a very very authentic taste, something I could never create at home. If you like these troupes of cuisines OR HAVE NEVER TASTED REAL AUTHENTIC FOOD such as theirs. I can very well recommend this place to you as “THE SPOT” for these 2 cultures. Food is usually 18-25 per meals. So I would bring 25 per person if you are planning to go into groups. If I could add anything’s to this spot. I would add some inside seating such as tables. This would be the perfect place to bring your date to and have a great time with amazing food. But apart from that you will find it hard to not come back since they are very welcoming and generous. They had given me a slice of Sujok which is like a spicy sausage on a slice of bread with cheese. Kinda like a pizza and wow. I NEED to try that one on a later date. Portions are very filling and me Boeing a body builder could not finish their meals. I still had half to take home. This is the place to be.

Amazing authentic food. Friendly and welcoming staff, hummus is best in the city (prove me wrong!) The fattoush salad will remind you of home the sumac and pomegranate molasses ratio is.on point, the egg sandwich reminds me of my childhood, my grandmother used to call it the hero's egg sandwich (I inhaled it before taking a picture 😂) . The hummus fatteh is delicious and flavorful. I have tried a lot.of items on the menu and everything is just perfect. Now I need to try all the Korean items 😁

Every part of the experience shows thoughtfulness and care. This spot combines quality and value in every dish. This spot gives a positive impression. The team ensured I received prompt service and answered everything positively. I'm now a committed fan.

I got the bulgogi fatboy which was amazing. It’s a giant sandwich with an unreal hot sauce I could only eat half. I will definitely be back I want to try everything. Very nice people running a family business. You can tell they really care and the Mom came out asking how everything was, really proud of her son. Not much seating inside but it was a nice day so sat outside.

This is one of those restaurants that makes NYC so amazing! A true reflection of the beauty of diversity that NYC offers. I’ve traveled over 42 countries and the fusion of foods that is at Syko is impeccable. From the delicious class Syrian style Shawarma to the delicious homemade kimchi, we are obsessed! Not to mention the Bimbap rolls and the falafel. Everything we tried there was delicious, fresh and made to order. We always get 2 Banchan just to take home 😂. The best part is the hospitality of everyone makes it a one of a kind experience. Shoutout to Mazim and James they always make us feel like family. We drive an hour just to eat here can’t wait to see Syko open up more branches! You gotta try this place!

Great fusion dishes and a good selection of Syrian and Korean groceries. Great for take out. Limited seating. The staff is super nice.

This is a great place to get both Syrian and Korean food. I liked the Korean fried chicken poppers and the Shawarma platter is great as well. Don't ignore the Fatboy rice rolls and kimbap as well

D
Dan Hong

I had the Crispy Chicken kimbap with soy sauce, hot sauce, and kimchi mayo. And the Sujok Arayes, which is basically a Syrian sausage quesadilla. The kimbap went well with the sauces and you fill the Sujok Arayes with various toppings and dip it in a strained yogurt. The big downside is that this place has basically no indoor seating. I occupied the only table inside. They have a small table immediately outside the front door awning and an outdoor patio where they put tables during the summer. Overall would recommend, though likely for takeout and then find a place somewhere else to eat!

WOW! I’m soooo happy to know this place exists! Walked in for dinner tonight and everything we tried hit the spot. Authentic flavors with extremely fresh ingredients. I can tell the mint was freshly picked and none of the food felt greasy. The quality and flavor is a 10/10. We got to meet the owner Mazen & the hospitality is also 10/10. Looking forward to becoming a regular! 🙌🏽 Been a minute since I truly enjoyed a New York food experience where you can tell there’s a standard to every single thing that’s served. 💯

Finally made it to the Korean × Syrian spot I’ve been stalking on my feed, and it absolutely delivered. As a Lebanese-Palestinian with a Korean aunt who is a trained chef, this fusion felt personal. Every bite was a love story. As a certified labne snob, I can say SYKO's was some of the best I’ve ever had. And with kimchi? Mind. Blown. The brothers-in-love behind this place are total visionaries. Pleaseeee open a location in DC! 감사합니다 | شكراً

Would stick to the Syrian/meddierainean food options which were way better than the Korean options. The mezze and dips were great. The pizza was too heavy for our taste as the base, scallion pancake, was too thick and greasy. Friendly staff.

H
Haley Zaremba

Kimchi soup literally healed my cold, and I’ll be dreaming about those Syrian flatbreads for the rest of my life… My only gripe is the pricing on some of the prepared foods. Would have loved to leave with kimchi and hummus but it was too steep for my budget. But overall, incredible food and incredible service. I’ll definitely be back 🫰

S

Amazing food! I am Syrian and haven’t had good Flafel since I left Syria. The Fusion Menu is very unique and I think they made the perfect combination of the best flavors from both cousins! In total highly recommended and very friendly and clean staff

If you're wondering what smells so good around PPW & Windsor Place - it's SYKO! Delicious, authentic, fresh! The Syrian food tastes as good as my mom's cooking and I can't wait to try the Korean options as well. Excited to see this family business thrive, inshallah!

KOREAN AND SYRIAN FOOD 🥘 The Syrian cuisine is good but the Korean cuisine is more popular because this neighborhood lacks Korean food. The Fat Boy is a large scallion pancake burrito 🌯 with bulgogi. The Chicken Poppers are 💯 The traditional fare like Bim Bim Bop and Kimbap is also good. For a tiny 200 sq ft hole in the wall with no restrooms and no indoor seating; the overhead should be extremely low. Normally this would equate to prices that are much lower but instead it’s the opposite. Prices are 2-3 times more than other places. The falafel plate I ordered normally cost $8-$10 but at Syko it was $24. VERY EXPENSIVE $$$$ for what it is. But good food to go 💨 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Everything about this place was amazing! The food and service was perfection. We tried the sampler platter so we got to try a little of everything. Mazin and James know what they are doing. The tea was also yummy. They were so sweet and brought a dessert out for my daughter’s birthday. We will definitely be back and give this place a try.

SYKO is an all around worth-it foodie experience. The food is split into 3 menus: Syrian, Fusion, Korean. I was interested in the fusion food, so the co-owner's wife recommended we try the Labandu (pork dumplings covered in crispy chili oil over labne) and the Half Falafel Half Shawarma pizza (the pizza dough is actually a scallion pancake). Amazing recommendations - that Labandu dish is making us want to relocate to Brooklyn lol. The fusion flavors work so well together. You can pinpoint the Middle Eastern flavors from the Korean flavors - the fresh labne from the spicy chili - and somehow they come together in a way that makes SO much sense. We walked in on a Saturday afternoon and were immediately immersed in what felt like a Middle Eastern and Korean grocery store. The walls are lined with items you'd only see if you were in a predominately Syrian or Korean populated area. There are 10 indoor seating spots and when it's nice out, 8 outdoor spots. Despite how busy the restaurant was, we were able to find a spot for our group with ease because a lot of people were getting take out. Can’t wait to return!

Amazing! The food is Michelin guide level. The amount of fusionary flavor that explodes with each bite is phenomenal. You need to close your eyes while eating to truly indulge all your senses in the explosion of flavor. Different, yet familiar. Highly recommended. The staff are also very friendly and hospitable.will be back very soon.

Amazing. Super friendly. The Chicken Shawarma was great. I love the fila bread it’s wrapped in. Cool esthetic with the newspaper wrap. The lebneh is very authentic. Haven’t tased that level of lebneh since I was a kid.

Unique and delicious! The place is really takeout but there are a few tables and chairs inside. The service is fast and you can watch the food being prepared. The menu is interesting, some Syrian dishes, some Korean dishes, and a fusion section, street food style. Everything is outstanding, lots of flavor, contrasting textures, and so tasty. Highly recommend this place!

Maybe one of the craziest meals I have had in Brooklyn in a while! Crazy fusion of flavors, totally unique dishes. Loved the falafel with cucumber kimchi and the famous Fat Boy sandwich. I will be back to try some more dishes!

Alright, let's talk about this place. If you're looking for a Michelin-star, white-tablecloth, "pinkies out" dining experience, you've come to the wrong spot. Like, way wrong. This is the kind of place where your dating profile picture might accurately depict you awkwardly holding a delicious, overstuffed burrito with sauce on your cheek. And honestly? I wouldn't have it any other way. The food is great, bordering on "I'm pretty sure I just transcended" levels of tasty. And don't even get me started on the fusion – it's like a culinary Frankenstein's monster, but in the best possible way. The Korean add-ons? Shut up and take my money. Seriously, whoever thought of that deserves a Nobel Peace Prize for flavor. Plus, they're not stingy with the portions, which means you're getting a generous helping of deliciousness. No sad, lonely burritos here. Now, for the "grab and go" reality check. The service is fast, so fast you might get whiplash from the sheer speed of your order being taken and fulfilled. You can even watch them whip up your food right there at the window, which is either fascinating or slightly terrifying depending on how hungry you are. But here's the kicker: the line. It can get long. We're talking "forming a small, hungry village" long. And once you've got your delicious bounty, don't expect to sprawl out in a plush armchair. There are very few seats, so embrace the "eat standing up like a sophisticated scavenger" vibe or plan to picnic on the nearest park bench.

J
Joel Kasparian

Just go there. Go there and experience it. It's so good and they give you so much. They obviously excel at Syrian and Korean cuisine, but the fusion!? That's what NYC is really about and these guys nail it with everything on the menu. They even had some incredible clove and cardamom tea that went perfect with the Korean pancake we had for dessert.

P

The food here is delicious!! You MUST try the veggie plate, it’s got all the good stuff. Great flavor, huge portion , I got delivery and everything was packaged nice and tight, no spillage . Can’t wait to try more of their stuff.

E
Elizabeth Lawrensen

Really loved everything we tried. I ordered a sampler box and my bf ordered the chicken kebab shawarma. I plan to come back to try more of the korean banchan and kimbap. It’s a little more expensive than an average shawarma, but the servings are huge, all the flavors including seasoning of meat, sauces, etc is so on point, its definitely worth the price point. Highly recommend, will be back soon. Great fusion though unexpected.

M

Flavorful sujok sandwich with fries. Sausage was well spiced, and the pickles inside tasted homemade! The hot sauce was super delicious! Very friendly and casual on a chilly winter afternoon. Wish I had time and room to eat more! I’ll be back— Convenient to Prospect Park!

Vibes were amazing and the food was crazy good! felt very comfortable and I could tell it was a family all hands in type of place because we met so many people. Fries were crazy good - and the beef bulgogi was fab. Service was awesome! Really cool place def will try to be back

This little place is a true blessing. After a very long day of travelling in from Philly and doing activities around crazy times sq, finally a welcoming face and a quiet place to eat! Being an anxious traveler, I was grateful. I ordered chicken shawarma hotteok at the suggestion of the kind gentleman who helped us, and it was absolutely delicious and unlike anything I've had. (Aforementioned fellow was also very helpful and patient towards a woman with diet restrictions). It's fun to shop for snacks, drinks, and ingredients while things get made - but the service was very quick, so it's not much of a "wait". They have an open kitchen that looks refreshingly clean and orderly. We sampled the home-brewed cardamom tea and kimchi soup, and if we had room we would've ordered both. Thanks SYKO! Happy holidays!

I've picked up a quick lunch and also end of day 'too good to go' meals several times over the past 6-9 months and the service is always friendly and the food fresh and delicious and always reasonably priced. I love to get 5 mini pies, assorted fillings and toppings and if you're throwing a little party or gathering, you can't go wrong with a dozen of these, warmed and cut into 3-4 pieces, it's the nicest easiest appetizer ever.

Super tasty, generous, and traditional food. Definitely try the fatboy. It could have come with more tofu though. Order in advance or be ready to wait, the service is pretty long. Also they are facing a wave of fame due to the Newyorker article so maybe Tyler them breath a little or go there on a weekday. Also mentioned in other comments, but I find it pretty rude that the lady taking orders has her headphones on …

Syrian + Korean food , yes please. Easy to get to, some outdoor seating available and best of all the flavor is there. Ordered some kibbeh and shawarma. Good lunch drop in out take out. Convenient to errands and shopping.

awesome concept, a little cramped inside. kimbap was amazing!! bibimbap was maybe lacking a little, sujuk was so good though! good selection of drinks and snacks, other necessities (miso paste, tahini, etc). highly recommend!!

Really cool place to try because of the unique Syrian and Korean fusion foods they have to offer, plus the menu is halal friendly. The food itself was pretty mid but tasty, and they make it fresh with high quality. The place is quite pricy, even the side dishes go for around $10~$20, but their portions are on the bigger side. There’s not really a dine-in option, besides a small outdoor dining area. Other than that, the owners are super nice and there’s great customer service. One thing I loved was the welcoming and warm atmosphere, I was really impressed by the murals used for the interior design (very cute)! Overall was a good experience to try but pricy!

Very good food, I especially liked the cleaner flavors of the Korean brunch box over the tasty but overloaded shawarma pizza. It's self service, and mostly takeout, and the cashier was on the phone while taking orders. They provide a few small tables outside, which is nice on a day with good weather.

M
Michael Cheng

this is a giant hunky dory roller coaster of flavors and it has a lot of sauces and definitely go here if you're trying to. have a good time and not for your health lol. we had a shawarma Pizza split between two and it had hummus peppers and all the works as you can see in the pictures and it is super heavy. definitely try it once

M
Madhav Shunmugam

Amazing food and great customer service, the owners would take time to explain everything that's in the menu and the idea of how Syrian-Korean food came into being. Kindly visit and support the business. The hot sauce they served was a bomb and do not try it if you have no resistance to heat toleration. My favourite was falafel pizza. Food was fresh

A
Ahmed H.

A much needed dry goods store with North African staples; the Eastern inventory is equally great. SYKO dining has become too expensive, though, for what it is: $9 for 8oz of hummus is just goofy and the restaurant plates now seem to average around $30, which isn't horrible for NYC except the chef has definitely changed and most items are over-salted and sopping with oil. The experiences were good while they lasted, but I'll always love and appreciate the Arab hospitality that has slowly made its way into a largely White, affluent neighborhood.

N
Naceam Abyane

Really dope place! Super friendly owners helped walk me through the menu because admittedly, I was overwhelmed by the options. I don’t live near here and the vast menu made me to go a tiny bit overboard. I started with the kimchi soup, superb! I got the 3 baked goods for $9.99: sfiha, za’atar, muhammara. All great and reheated well. Probably the only thing I didn’t love was the fatboy sandwich. It’s held together by a Korean pancake that was charred in some parts and undercooked in other parts. If you just want something to stuff your belly, this is for you. I also wish it was wrapped with foil only; the paper wrapping was impossible to peel off. Leftovers were better because I was able to deconstruct it and cook the pancake more. Now my absolute favorite item was from the fusion menu. The beef shawarma hotteok was chef’s kiss! Holy hell, I can’t stop thinking about each crispy and flavor packed bite. I will definitely be back for this! Such a beautiful marriage of cuisines.

T
Tan

Interesting take on a fusion of both Syrian and Korean culture. The flavors of both blend well with each other and the menu design is rather thoughtful. I've gotten the falafel pizza and the flavors are so fresh and herbaceous the portion was rather large too so it was price appropriate. The vegetarian Hotteck Japchae is so flavorful as well, easily one of my favorite on the menu now.

R
Rose

The food looked and smelled so good we forgot to take a picture before diving in. Their fusion menu is fantastic. We recommend the Box Sampler. Note that this is definitely a take out place. While they have some seating, it is limited and we didn’t see a restroom available for customers either. That said, you must try SYKO! Very delicious and unique.

H

Korean-Syrian food? Never heard of it and had to try it! Note this is more of a takeout place rather than sitting and dining - there is only one 3 person table inside and outside only 3 bar chairs. Like most, when I first saw the prices I was a little shocked. Two fat boys sandwiches paid in cash was $40! But once I got the food - oh boy they are LARGE portions. One fat boy can easily feed two people - so if you're trying to save money just buy one and split it between the two of you. I am also sure their pizza and combo plates could easily feed two as well. As a vegetarian, I appreciated all the vegetarian options. I got the tofu kimchi fat boy which consisted of outside being a thick scallion pancake and filling inside being fried tofu coated in cornstarch batter, kimchi, yellow pickled radish, lettuce and rice. It was extremely flavorful! And I loved the sauces that went along with it - if you love a little spice get the habanero sauce on the side (it's not just spicy it has almost a creamy element that I enjoyed greatly). It also came with gochujang sweet sauce and a more almost Chinese based chili oil sauce. I do wish the scallion pancake was more flaky (it's a little thick for my taste) but dipped in sauce was quite yummy. My husband got the beef bulgogi fat boy and loved it. You do save about 12-13 cents per item if you pay in cash, but they do accept card. Parking metered all around.

Food was okay. I think it’s cool to try but the flavors weren’t the best for me. The shawarma pizza had beef and strong spices and wasn’t something I’d get again. The falafel kind of reminded me of bean sprouts. My fav was the chicken shawarma wrap. Pretty pricey

75% rice 25% veggies 21$ . The worst deal I ever get in life. Totally disappointed! The girl on the desk was nice but don’t cheat your clients just for selling. Recommend the best plates and you will have a loyal client coming every week.

Please skip this place. Who is giving this 5⭐️??????? This food is so overpriced. Besides this being overpriced, how can they charge this much for these bottom level ingredients?!!?!!?!? How can you sit here and charge 25 for your “pizza”???? Literally food is just the bottom barrel of food, and you have the gull to charge this much for this level of food? I would not have been this confused if the food cost $40-$45, but $68?!?!? FYI there’s a sojuk sandwich missing from the pictures, but 4 items for $70 from a fast food place!?!! Literally wild.

J
Jacob Baty

The food is so delicious here. Fantastic all the way but now they are just too expensive. A wrap with fries and a soda is now $30.00 on Seamless. That is just not sustainable.
