Opinions de Elder Greene Brooklyn
Great service. They had a nice heated outside space. The food was delicious. I had the fried chicken sandwich and onion rings. I'll definitely go again.
EXCELLENT Burger, best one I’ve had in NYC, and the cocktails, especially the French 75, are terrific. Highly recommend if you’re in the area and definitely worth making a trip to if you’re not
I had been craving a Caesar Salad, and I ordered it with the perfectly grilled chicken. The homemade dressing was so great! I don't normally order salad for dinner, so, there you go!
The bar is cute, the vibe was great. Service was very good at the bar and while we sat. They make a solid dirty martini. What more could a girl ask for?
Fantastic bar, new to the neighborhood but very quickly found its rhythm and earned a strong customer base. Great food, good drinks, awesome staff, this is a local hang out for sure.
My go-to in Greenpoint! Always great service, food and drinks. They've managed to maintain the same high standards while adhering to covid safety guidelines. Ideal meal--popcorn chicken or Buffalo cauli to start, beyond burger, house Marg.
I've been to Elder Greene a handful of times and every time the staff is sweet, the food is great, and even when service is slow (they've been busy since spring started and people are out and about), I've had a great experience. Highly recommend for casual dinner and drinks!
The best burger I’ve had in NYC. I’m from the Midwest and the burgers in the city are just not good - but this place gets it right. If you’re looking for a classic American burger come here.
This place is incredible. The owner, Simon is so welcoming and the wait staff is so nice!! Definitely recommend. Oh and the food is incredible, especially the Irish breakfast!
This place was so cute and our server, Grace, was the sweetest. We didnt have any food, but would recommend coming for the drinks!
The bartender was amazing (can't remember their name, otherwise I'd give recognition), I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the friendly service
One of my favorite spots in the neighborhood for brunch and dinner! Service and food are always great.
We hosted a private "Welcome Party" for out-of-town guests and family at Elder Greene the night before our son's wedding. From start to finish, the entire staff was fantastic to work with - especially Tali, the event coordinator, and David the main staff person taking drink orders. The service was great, the setting was perfect for our 80 guests, and the food and drink on point. It was a glorious celebration. I would highly recommend Elder Greene for a private affair.
Best (beef eater) Gin Martinis ever. Fried pickles were perfect and size was just as it should be. The burger was good and filling. Fried foods were just as it should be-not oily, kept warm, very tasty. Also, the place is clean.. which is a rarity these days. Waitress was very generous, kind and patient-helpful in every way!
person in orville peck shirt was amazing! they played the songs i requested and were so cool while doing it. love this place
Great fresh food. Service is good and friendly. Love the location and during time of covid19 keeping up with requirement. Seating is your choice during this time. Great for sunset and tasty margaritas. Flat read pizza and Tater tots well done! Not cramped but cooked just right!
The tomato soup was so amazing! The ambiance was nice and chill for a quick lunch. Even the server was very sweet and accommodating. I'll definitely come back to try other dishes.
Friendly, efficient service. Delicious food (the breakfast burger is a brunch highlight) and great cocktails. They have built a sturdy, large outdoor seating area fir these COVID times. They also luckily get a full blast of sun from the morning through the afternoon, so you’re warm throughout. Electric heaters help as well for post sunset situations.
Great, classic, low-key atmosphere. I was there with 4 other friends and we had a great time. This place has a good reputation for a reason. Food, service and drink were all good.
5 stars mostly for the friendly service (shoutout to our server David who made our evening!) and the ample outdoor space. Lots of veg-friendly dishes which I appreciate and $5 virgin cocktails (which they should advertise as I don't believe their non-alc options are listed publicly on the menu!)
Friendly, excellent food, reliable bartenders. I come from Manhattan regularly to enjoy a chill evening here. Tip: the fresh-made onion rings are the best in New York and worth the money.
Please put the wings on the brunch menu, and thank you.
Good atmosphere, and their Guinness was great
Great selection of drinks and really friendly staff. We didn't eat anything there but the food smelled amazing. Would definitely go again
This is the former Mrs. Kim's and River. Now it's Elder Greene, and it's a welcome change. Right now, it's the Queen of Comfort Food for us. We go here occasionally and order nothing but apps. Whoever is doing the frying in the kitchen is doing a great job. (Yummy onion rings just start our nights).
I can’t believe I haven’t written this sooner after all our visits. Elder Greene is a true gem in Greenpoint. We have celebrated every huge milestone with Elder Greene and they NEVER disappoint. Food is amazing, drinks are superb and the staff feels like family. We love everything about this place and will forever speak so highly about it. It’s a can’t miss if you’re in the area!!!
My wife and I had our wedding after party here. Tali, Stephanie and the crew crushed it, all food came out quick and done really well, not a single speed bump along the way, they were fully prepared for our crowd. We are frequent regulars here and it felt good to have the after party with familiar faces and in our own neighborhood. I highly suggest Elder Greene for hosting your party or even a quick drink and bite to eat.
I am Definitely returning. I am a picky eater & the food was great. The drinks were good I had a drink called “way back home” and I was pleasantly surprised. The general atmosphere was great, not noisy good for kids. The staff was super friendly and the servers were always making sure we were content.
Can't say enough nice things! My brother had his engagement party here and it was fantastic. The staff was so welcoming, and the cocktails were fantastic. Food ws great, and the whole vibe of the place was so cute. Can't wait to go back ❤️
Always a nice time! Food is always delicious… It’s actually hard to choose what to get because it’s all so good. Cozy and warm vibes. Staff is lovely. Thankful for this neighborhood spot!
I love the local spot. Food is perfect and well priced. The staff is lovely and kind. There was wild drunken couple here who was screaming at the owner for changing a light bulb over the bar and it was embarrassing to witness. It’s a bummer that people can’t see the effort that goes into a local neighborhood spot like this. I feel really lucky to have a space like this so close to where I live. Keep it up elder Greene!
Great cocktails. I've grabbed a pre-dinner cocktail here since the pandemic. The staff & drinks are great. Highly recommend
Elder Greene is terrific. My fiance and I got married nearby and looked at a number of local bars to host an afterparty. Everything about Elder Greene was great from the outset. Tali, with whom we worked in coordinating the event, was super professional, responsive, and put together a great evening. The bar was a lot of fun, with good food, drinks, and atmosphere. We'd both recommend it for a casual drink or a special event.
Love this restaurant! The menu is great. The food is excellent and the service is superb! I recommend this place for a relaxing breakfast, lunch or dinner. I was visiting my daughter from Nashville, TN. We ate there at least 3 times. Our waitress was so nice. We got our food fast. The Manager is extremely nice and cares about the restaurant. I could eat there everyday! ♥️
This place is beautiful with awesome people, but the food is really not great. My friends and I keep going back and are always tempted by the food, and we always think maybe last time was a bad day and we should give the food another shot. Nope. Still pretty mediocre to bad. I have a real soft spot for this place though and only want it to get better!! I’m giving this place 5 stars because of the people that work here. Everyone I’ve encountered in my several visits have been so friendly and just great vibes in general. THEY are the reason I come back, NOT the food.
Their food is always great and the service is quick and friendly. Also food is very affordable for that area!
We've had lunch here a number of times and the food and service has always been terrific.
Time machine, in the best way! Everything feels perfectly in place. The atmosphere, the food, the beers… and most importantly, those old ceiling fans and worn wood floors that give the place its soul. The bartender is incredibly friendly, and the whole vibe feels like the real Greenpoint in Greenpoint.
First time here and we ordered the Hangar steak and instead of fries we got the tater tots with the steak.. FOOD WAS AWESOME!! There's a BUT..a good BUT ... lol... OMG!!! BUT the tater tots took us back to our youth(goodtimes). Lol..We shared the plate between the both of us and i have to say it filled us nicely...The salad that came along with it was also quite delicious...The vibe, the staff, the food TOTALLY AWESOME!!!
Oooo the tater tots were super crispy and delicious. Love that they have mocktails. Very cute vibes.
Super chill spot. Big outdoor space, cozy inside, awesome staff and the energy is all vibes, no stress. Highly recommend! ✌️ Drinks hit just right. Def a go-to for laid-back hangs. 🧃✨
Have always loved coming here so had an engagement party here and they were amazing. Best price in Brooklyn for open bar and food considering how great the atmosphere inside is. Very helpful and responsive as well.
Had a very lovely date night at Elder Greene. We loved that it was not too loud when we went, was very cozy, and servers are lovely. We ordered cocktails (very good!) and I had a craving for some buffalo wings which definitely did the job. Would definitely stop by for a drink again!
I love this place. I've been coming here a few years now. I had a review written but today I did rating separately and it was deleted. The food here is very good. The first thing I ate here was the Popcorn Chicken and it was very good, it wasn't overly breaded. Their Calamari is also good and the Marinara that comes with it is delicious. Everything I've eaten here is good. The drinks are good also. The service is wonderful. The space is nice and gives a warm vibe. The prices are good. This is my favorite bar/restaurant in Greenpoint and maybe even beyond Greenpoint.
Came in over the weekend when visiting the neighborhood with my wife and daughter. What a great experience! The food was really good and we all enjoyed our meals, but what I want to highlight is the service. We were treated so nicely by the waiter and manager, even though they were slammed and still finishing the brunch crowd. We were also given that giant booth in the corner even though it’s probably reserved for larger groups. We will absolutely be back next time we visit the area. Burger was amazing, but get the double and ask for the potato bun.
Excellent mature atmosphere with great bar bites and immaculate cocktails. Not as crowded as nearby bars but necessarily a bad thing because you can actually enjoy a normal conversation and staff is not bombarded with so many tables to service. This is my go to bar when in Greenpoint.
Food was amazing and the staff was so nice and attentive. My friend and I asked out waiter David for some recommendations on what to choose. He suggested the Brussels sprouts and fried chicken sandwich which was amazing. We also had the fried pickles which were the best I’ve ever had. The Brussels sprouts come with some dressing on it and the blue cheese is such a nice touch of flavor. For drinks our waiter also recommended the rude mood drink which was very delicious (I love mescal) def get if you like mescal. I’ve always driven by this place so glad I finally stopped by will definitely be coming back for more yummy food. Also I would love to add that even the chef came out to ask if my dog had enough water. I appreciated that. 💛
Decent little bar, cool seating and decor. Lots of cocktailsc, but nothing special. Fairly lengthy beer list of draft and cans, but not the best, out of some standard beer on the me menu which was disappointing. Good service.
Went for Sunday brunch. Had a sausage egg sandwich with jalapenos. Yummy. The dirty martini was made just how I like them!
Fast service, great service, nice place to eat outside, good drink menu. Food is like fancier bar food. Veggie sides and apps are very good. Fried pickles, omg.
Pretty solid spot, casual bar fare on a Saturday night. My girlfriend had the steak and enjoyed, I had a burger that was pretty good as well
Good variety of food and beverages. Decent amount of seating indoors. I went around 2PM for Saturday brunch and was able to get a table right away and I did not have a reservation.
We had a great lunch here. The vegetable salad (roasted brussels, cauliflower and other veg), a huge wedge salad, burger and tots. Filling, good portion sizes and reasonable prices. Great local spot for healthy and hearty dishes.
it was so cute and the food was incredible. the staff was really nice but service is a little bit on the slow side: i think they had three staff members for their busy Sunday brunch shift. its a charming Greenpoint spot !
Food-wise, the menu isn’t particularly inspiring, but as a spot to grab a drink in between errands, it does the trick. Staff is kind, if not a little unengaged (was never checked on, didn’t get water, had to ask for the bill after being ready for a bit). If you’re looking for something casual and low key, this is a good bet.
Great experience. I came across this place while walking around the neighborhood looking for some food, post NYE hangover. I was pleasantly surprised with the steak sandwich and sweet potatoe fries. I had a fantastic server as well, she was very friendly. Will definitely come back next time for brunch and a drink.
Very cute bustling neighborhood spot featuring a standard menu of American favorites. The tomato soup and brussel sprouts app were great. All the Meats came out with wrong temperatures.. but overall a decent experience. Good cocktails.
Food was good! Burgers were very small. Waited 45 minutes for our food. Ordered buffalo cauliflower but they were out.
Elder green has great food and pretty good drinks. I've been there a few times and I've always enjoyed it. Unfortunately the bar is always understaffed with just one person handling bartending, serving and bussing. Our food and drinks were on point last night but the bartender wouldn't hand us a box for the leftovers. This was the case with the table next to us as well and the couple left with a lot of food at a table. They were doing takeout orders at the same time so it wasn't like they were out of containers. The bartender, who did a great job with the drinks, did not acknowledge our requests for a take out container. It's a pity as the food is really good and it had to be thrown out. IMO this is more of a management issue and there needs to be at least a server in addition to the bartender.
Had dinner here last night, (4th of July), and had a pleasant experience. The menu is mostly bar food and appropriately and reasonably priced. I had the Turkey Club for food and a few signature cocktails. The apple slices in the sandwich was a nice touch. For cocktails I had the Way Back When, Get in the Ring, and Alfie Aged Rum Old Fashioned. My favorite was the Get in the Ring, I like spicy, and the Jalapeno infused tequila had a bite. The service was good, I sat down and was brought water, they took my other and brought out a carafe of water that I could use to refill myself.
Had such high hopes for this place since it is so close to my apartment. Drink menu and service were both great but food was a MAJOR disappointment. Insanely overpriced for food that tasted like it came out of a frozen bag and directly into the microwave. Will probably be back for Happy Hour but never again for food.
Great atmosphere and service! Tasty beer and drinks. The food was ok, but not amazing, at least not what we had (grilled cheese, fried chicken sandwich, mc n cheese). The grilled cheese was actually quite dissapointing.
The staff is lovely and if you want to grab a drink with friends and hang in Greenpoint- this is the place. Just don't go hungry. The food reminded me of my high school cafeteria :p.
Solid beer selection & a great outdoor space. The food's just meh, but the servers are all delightful!
It's a cute spot. I got a burger and fries for $15. Was it worth $15? Not in my opinion. But it was a nice time and we sat outside.
Real hit or miss. Really like their burger and fries when they do a good job, but they’re not consistent and half the time the fries are limp and undercooked. Disappointing.
Cool neighborhood bar with fun vibe. Good crowd. Must have been an off night because our experience wouldn't warrant a busy place. Worth another try. The homemade tomato soup and steak sandwich were good.
Tots were great especially with the sweet chili sauce. The fried chicken sandwich is not big enough to split but had a good portion of fries that came with. Their Cesar Salad was a good classic.
Decent prices beers. Food wasn't great (standard bar food) and was really pretty expensive. Also, not my favorite music. A bit too classic rock.
I walked on the street looking at the bars and walked into this one because it looked like a nice cozy place. But a couple of staff members saw me and started laughing with each other. I don’t know what it was but it sure made me uncomfortable. I would have walked out if not for the bartender who served me who was friendly and made a good drink.
Waiter brought me a margarita instead of a whisky and seltzer.. and walked away.. then proceeded to take to the next table after I called him back... that drink should of been tossed in my opinion.. never had issues here before but that was a warning. Food was good. Good portions
Food and atmosphere were great. However, the service was really bad. For a Friday night when the place was half empty, you’d think they would be more attentive. It was impossible to get our waiters attention
Ordered delivery the lamb burger. It was kinda garbage. Not sure if they serve the same thing when you dine in but the meat was dry, the patty felt old and the fries were worse than any Brooklyn deli that knows the century old recipe of cutting and frying potatoes. The only reason for a 2 ⭐ instead of 1 is that I give the benefit of a doubt that the kitchen was closing since I orderd lateish. Still they shouldn't let that thing go out but it is some excuse.
The food quality of both the nachos, and the 'impossible' burger, were WAY overpriced and just really... lazy. Nachos were sprinkled with a few beans, weren't warm.. and for a $19 burger, was just a rip-off. It should have been $10 at most for what we got. Sorry, I never leave reviews for places, but it really made me angry to spend our hard-earned money on this.
Food is OK. They might have the worst service of any restaurant I've ever been to. Me and some co-workers went for lunch, went inside to let the staff know we were going to sit outside. 2 of us went inside on separate occasions to remind them that we were there, nobody ever came to wait on us. After 30 minutes we ate nextdoor. The next day we went again and sat inside. No service for 15 minutes, order was taken, another 20+ minutes before our drinks were brought to the table, which were wrong. I asked for the correct drink and the waiter turned around and walked away without saying anything. 30 minutes later the food came out. Nobody came back to help us. After eating we had to go find the waiter to get the check after 15/20 minutes of waiting.
I was going to hold off on writing this review but had to after experiencing the same thing again. I was here on New Years and found myself surrounded by toddlers which I found extremely odd for a bar and noticed that many adults seemed to be uncomfortable as well due to their noise and being watched by the children. While I understand that everyone needs a moment to decompress, especially parents I believe bars that welcome kids should do a better job at making sure that the atmosphere isnt to the annoyance of other patrons. It was also extremely late and I do believe laws permit children in bars after a certain hour. I recently came back and also encountered kids no older than 4 present. If you're looking for a place to chill that's more adult friendly(which makes no sense for a bar) i'd probably stick with Bar Americano or Twins Lounge on Manhattan. Adults dont go to bars to see or hear children, im sorry.
A delivery disappointment. I used to come here all the time in person and had nice lunches. I ordered my usual from delivery and it was a sad experience. No sauces provided even when I paid extra for them. And the piece of chicken was so thin in the sandwich that there’s no way they would have served this to me in person.
I ordered a wedge “salad” and they brought me half a lettuce (literally the whole thing without cutting it or anything) with blue cheese dressing on top of it. And the worst part is that they did not clean it properly! I got a very bad food poisoning because of it. Not recommended at all.
Garbage pub food, mediocre service, drink prices were the same as Manhattan. They closed before 11pm on July 4th, busiest day of the year in Greenpoint. Terrible business strategy
Very loud and obnoxious - lots of drunks - food is greasy and the outdoor seating part is dirty. Rats were seen scurrying under the floorboards.
If I could give this place zero stars, I absolutely would. My party arrived hoping to celebrate a birthday, but instead left disappointed and angry. 4 of us stood there waiting patiently as everyone in the restaurant, staff and customers, stared at us and no waiter or hostess or even the bartender came to greet us, ask us if we’d like to be seated, or even reached out to another staff member. We walked around, looking for any sign of a staff member to acknowledge us, and we were ignored. We walked outside and were in the front of the restaurant looking for another place to go when we watched as another group came in and were immediately greeted and waited on by a staff member who was sitting down and had just watched us come in looking for seating and leave. It was utterly ridiculous, unprofessional, and frankly racist (my party was mainly women of color— the party that came after us was a group of white people). I would never recommend this place.
Today, on January 5th, around 7:20pm, we went there to have dinner and some drinks. The guy who was serving was so rude, we thought we did something wrong. He gave us a dirty table.
Service by Kay was great! She was by herself, but did a great job managing all the tables on her own, however the brunch was just awful. Ordered the Irish breakfast and the sides were over fried and dry, they were like hockey pucks. Coffee was watery and they seemed to have run out of OJ, so they filled the glass up with ICE. Who serves OJ with ice?!
They are always under staffed and there NEVER a manager there. They get every Other Order wrong and they don't fix yiur order. You have to refuse to eat it and walk out. And if they mess up you delivery order they tell you the manager is not there so they cant fix it or return your money. I had to dispute the charges of the delivery with my credit card money. They are rude and they will ignore their customers all night.
Bar in Greenpoin. They open late but that’s about it. Not one thing I can name that was good. I don’t know where to start. We wait for a water for 15min after we order we waited for calamari for 30min and maybe it would all worth it but no. Beer was to warm. Calamari I shouldn’t call it calamari maybe more like gum with no flavor. Chicken sandwich was so dry not just dry bread but chicken was over cooked and not eatable. We was so hungry and $80 later we left hungry and mad.
