Opinions de Little House Malaysian Kitchen Brooklyn
Really solid char kuey teow with proper wok hei and balanced seasoning. Their curry puff is addictive - the main reason I keep coming back. Bonus points for having kuih-basah for dessert.
The food satisfies your hunger and the service satisfies your social needs. You're getting food at its flavor peak. The team brings smiles, kindness, and detailed service. The environment blends elements unexpectedly. This restaurant will be seeing more of me!
This spot entered my food world through happy circumstance. The food timing was excellent. You'll be seated right away and staff works fast! I enjoyed a problem-free experience here. Previous diners summarized the quality accurately.
This place delivers on all its promises. They make tasty food from fresh ingredients without overcharging. The food was unremarkable. Their team surpasses expected service levels. I'd make this my go-to spot if possible!
I’ve had takeout from here a few times, but tonight was my first time dining in—and it did not disappoint. The food was packed with flavor, and the stir-fried dishes had a great amount of wok hei (that smoky “breath of the dragon”). We came as a group of 11 and had no issues with service. The young lady helping us was very accommodating and even recommended a few dishes that the older folks at the table especially enjoyed. We ordered quite a spread: roti, Hainanese chicken, chicken and beef satay, stir-fried string beans with garlic, curry fish fillet, curry beef stew, char kuey teow, Malaysian fried rice, sambal belacan, sizzling tamago tofu, and several drinks. Each of the curries had its own distinct flavor, and the roti was freshly made—flaky on the outside, slightly chewy on the inside. The satay was another standout: both the beef and chicken were tender, flavorful, and paired perfectly with the rich peanut sauce. Overall, I was very impressed with both the food and service. Easily one of the best Malaysian meals I’ve had in a long time—better than anything I’ve had in Elmhurst or Brooklyn.
Singaporean here, lost in a city of mediocre food - little house restoran is legit authentic and the wok hei is great. The hor fun is fried really well, and the curry tastes like home. Even in Singapore this would be considered a gem. They even have sliced green chili (so difficult to find in regional Chinese restaurants)!!
One of the better Malaysian food restaurants I’ve tried. This place serves as a great lunch spot. I went on a Sunday afternoon with a party of five and there was surprisingly only one person there. It’s a decent-sized place that can fit around 5-10 parties without feeling too packed. We got two appetizers to start: the Curry Puffs (comes in 3 pcs) & the Satay Tofu (comes in 6 pcs). I thought the Curry Puffs here were one of the best ones I’ve tried since the outer puff itself wasn’t too thick or crunchy and was more on the soft side. The curry filling was also perfect to match the puff. I rarely come across a curry puff that suits my tastebuds so this was a pleasant surprise. The Satay Tofu was also good with the tofu being a good size for bites. The Satay was as I’d like for this, but I do wish the flavor was more seeped into the tofu. I think they just laid the sauce on top so there wasn’t much flavor on the inside of the tofu itself. For our main dishes, we got the Hokkien Mee (my typical go-to), Claypot Fish Curry and the Salted Egg Prawn Chow Fun. The Hokkien Mee was solid so would recommend. I’ve never gotten the Claypot Fish Curry anywhere before, but my friend wanted to try and I’d say it was a good choice. The curry was good, but the fish fillet did taste a bit fake due to the outer coating on it. I think it might’ve been better without it. I do not recommend getting the Salted Egg Prawn Chow Fun thought cause it’s rather basic and as it says. It’s just some slightly salted egg flavored prawns on top of chow fun. I guess it’s good that it’s as it says, but it didn’t add much value to our meal. I think due to the prawns being slightly saltier, we felt the chow fun had no taste. Overall, would recommend this place for anyone wanting to try Malaysian food around the area. Price is also fairly cheap and on the lower end compared to other restaurants in general.
Great Place, clean and friendly worke. Finaly i found great & tasty authentic malaysia food and price 👍👍 My wife, my mom and my son very like it. Im order Satay Mix, Scramble Egg Chow fun, Sarang Burung, Chow Kueh teow, Prawn Mee n ice tea.. wow believed me i will coming back from queens to brooklyn just for the delicious malaysia food. Thank you Chef “ Little House Restoran” you r d best, if have 10 star i will give it to you 😁😉👍
It was not crowded, nice service, fast. Good food for reasonable prices. I love Asian food and I can say this is my favorite Asian restaurant from Brooklyn, the prices are very well for my pocket, food taste pretty good, the guy is very friendly and he gives tips and good suggestions for eating. Plus place is clean and comfortable. YOU MUST TRY YES OR YES! 😉 Oh don't forget to try the burger Lemark 😋 is soooooooooo yummy 😋
I ordered an iced milk tea and a Thai ice tea -- both were standard but good drinks. I was most impressed with their food though. The "Salted egg prawn chow fun" was delicious! Just enough salted egg flavor to compliment the "wok hay" on the noodles. The "Asam laksa" was very good as well if you like sour and fish; tangy and addicting imo. The "Special belacan" was spicy and very good imo... But, the petai (stinky bean) has a very interesting flavor to it that is definitely an acquired taste. It's not stinky, but there's an interesting indescribable flavor there 😂. The "mochi" was filled with sweet crushed peanuts -- chewy and not too sweet 👍. Lastly, the "Bobochacha" was semi-sweet and loaded with ingredients 👍👍. Super jiang restaurant and I'm glad I found this place!
Nothing but great things to say about this restaurant! I used to go to the one in Queens when I lived in Elmhurst. I have been to the Brooklyn branch a few times now that I moved to well Brooklyn, and the service is always great. The staff are friendly and the food is always tasty. I am surprised my American friends actually liked the Nasi Lemak since they always complain that Asian food has too many things going on for them. Also love the yuanyang tarik, have to special request. My favourite remains to be the Hokkien Noodle, I don't like udon noodle, but the flavour is VERY VERY close to what I had back in Singapore/Malaysia without bah you/fried lard. I wish they can open a bit later though since parking is free only after 7pm.
I had a very positive experience at Little House Restoran and am giving it 4 stars! The atmosphere was a standout, earning a solid 4-star rating. Both the food and the service were also good, each deserving 3 stars. It’s a lovely and reliable spot for a meal!
Have been coming back to this place a couple of times for the food, both dining in and buying take out. The service could be better by being friendlier to the customers - I actually don't mind because I come for the food. And, as long as the staff gets my orders correct. It is a small family business so I can understand having to wait a bit longer for the lack of employees. Good food, food came out quick . Affordable price, paying with a credit card has a charge fee to it. They prefer cash.
We got the beef satay, the hainanese chicken(half), the soy sauce noodles (forgot the actual name) and the beef curry rice dish. I took a star off because the hainanese chicken was no taste. I was super disappointed since the texture of the chicken was phenomenal. It was tender and juicy. It just lack taste. It’s nothing special the spot. It’s like any spot I’ve been to in the past. I would however go since it’s a mom and pop shop. I do recommend. Just the hainanese chicken was a downer.
Tried dinner sets 3 and 4 for $12 each. A great deal given the portion size. Recommend set 4. The roti and curry were lukewarm, which was surprising as there was only the 2 of us in the resto. The roti is the kind you can get at the frozen section of Asian grocery stores. Set 3 Hainanese chicken rice was served at room temperature and a bit bland. Set 4 Chow kway teow had "wok hay" and was pretty tasty. Dessert was not too sweet and had a good amount of taro, papaya and black eye peas.
Everything was just ok + nothing special. The best thing we got was the Chicken Satay Skewers, which came with a yummy sweet peanut sauce. The Stir Fried Lobak was interesting - it came with fried tofu and century old egg as well. The Beef Chow Fun was saltier than I liked + the Curry that came with the Roti Canai was pretty watery. The Hainan Chicken Rice was decent! You're only allowed to choose between the breast or leg (dark meat). We chose the breast + there were ~ 6 pieces of chicken. The ginger and hot sauces it came with helped with the flavor. The order also comes with a cup of soup, which tastes primarily like sesame oil. Overall, this spot is just ok, but l've had better.
Reading some other review and I confirmed it's true. 1. The lady that served was not welcoming maybe she thinks I'm not Asian. Yes it's true you can see and tell that they treat non Asian differently customers 2. Food taste was okay. 3. I ordered a take home food for my son and when we got home they give us a different dish.
