This is such a fun inclusive live music venue. Tucked away at the end of a Bushwick street the place has a fun vibe and decor. Enjoy a chat with friends on one of the comfy couches tucked away in an alcove downstairs or enjoy performances on the upstairs stage. The staff is amazing and helpful. When I give 5* to the food I actually mean the cocktails. On the current menu I recommend Holy Water. There is also a solid selection of none alcoholic cocktails

In addition to the dreamy atmosphere, Purgatory hosts some of my favorite events anywhere in the city!! Love the creativity that comes forth in this space and the drinks ain’t bad, either.

Immaculate vibes. Had a birthday party in the groovy red room and it was a blast. Sensational tunes, delectable bevs, benevolent souls... Purgatory is the new heaven, you heard it here first.

This is hands down one of my favorite dive bars. They also host the most awesome drag shows. Starting by their monthly Sylvester and (hopefully too) The Sick Sad World Review. Really beautiful space!

The venue is great, the staff is great. We hosted an event there and everything went pretty smoothly. Honestly and all around amazing experience, and the communication is top notch. 10/10 Would book again

This is one of my favorite bars in all of Brooklyn. The prices are so phenomenal, the snow cone drink they have is boozy, and the owner/staff are beyond friendly. I recommend anyone to check this out. The garden they have is so pretty, too

My favorite bar in Brooklyn, the energy shines so bright that you can see the purple on the warehouse walls across the street. The crowd that this spaces draws is always fantastic, the show space, bar space, and outdoor space are amazing. Love love love.

Huge fan! The owner and staff are so welcoming and the rooms are beautiful. They have a great selection of NA beverages and an awesome curation of live events. Stoked to get back to Purg.

Decent little dive. Staff was great, drinks were decent - would be five stars if not for their horrifically busted sound system, which would, without anyone touching it, suddenly and unpredictably turn the music from tinny and distant to overwhelmingly loud and bassy. Come on, owner, fix that, ya cheapskate.

Saw a very well-acted show, in a veeeery funky upstairs venue. Bar is dark, clubby feeling, far away, fun folks, safe & edgy at the same time...shades of Manhattan EV in the 80's... Clean bathroom. Means alot actually!

Great music for the blood rave but a bit stinky (think comic con…like a moderately stinky fandom, slight shade) it would be nice if air freshers were utilized both upstairs and downstairs.

Very sassy blonde bar tender. Threw a tantrum when i didn't click the 30% tip and refused to serve me. She has zero patience or hospitality. Was there in support of a friend who was using the space for an event. If you're looking to throw an event in this space go elsewhere to avoid the poor bar service. Door workers were sweet and heard me out when I chose to talk to someone else. But I really hope they find a different bar tender who actually cares to work for their pay. Very mean.

My daughter paid $65.00 for a space to exhibit her artwork and the person in charge did not have a space for her even though she prommised a spot. My daughter had to stand at the front entrance, which is a very small entrance way. DO NOT EVER PAY TO SHOWCASE ANYTHING!!!!!!! It was a waste of our time!!! No one showed up to the event! Trash!!!!!

Hosting a Pro-9/11 event in New York is quite an odd decision.

Walked in the door and the four of us were asked if we had tickets for the show upstairs. We said no, we just wanted to sit at the bar (or outside) and she said $5 each... So we left. Like... Hahaha why would we pay for a show we're not going to? Went out a bar a block away instead.
