We absolutely loved this place! 😊 We started with a mixed appetizer platter with fresh summer rolls, crispy spring rolls, and fried wontons. Everything tasted incredibly fresh. The summer rolls with shrimp and herbs were especially delicious, and the dipping sauces, particularly the peanut sauce topped with crushed peanuts, were perfectly balanced. For the main course, we had stir fried noodles with broccoli and tender meat. The noodles were well seasoned and flavorful, the vegetables were fresh and still nicely crisp. The beef soup was clear, aromatic, and comforting, a great addition to the meal. On top of the amazing food, the service was very friendly and attentive. We felt welcome from the moment we walked in.
Grill Combination with Rice 🍚 is great! I order Pho Wagyu Sliced Steak. My daughter likes Pho Traditional Combo is also good!
From the moment we walked in, everything about this restaurant felt special. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, the staff greets you with genuine kindness, and the service is attentive without ever feeling rushed. The food? Simply outstanding. Every dish was beautifully presented and full of authentic flavor. The pho had a rich, deeply comforting broth that tasted like it had been simmering for hours. The fresh herbs, crisp vegetables, and perfectly cooked meats made every bite unforgettable. The spring rolls were light and refreshing, and the sauces were balanced and delicious. You can truly taste the care and quality in every ingredient. The server was Mari she was so helpful with amazing service overall
I work nearby so I came for lunch . It wasn't too busy so I figured it would be quick. My beef rib pho came out in less than 10 min but took me forever to eat it was huge I took the rest for dinner. Thanks to my server Jp he was attentive but very relaxed in his work I appreciate that. Found my new weekly lunch spot ! Side note there manager Pedro! Very helpful and kind .
Amazing experience at Mama Hong's. Great service and atmosphere. I got something simple, Thai fried rice but it had fresh ingredients and was very well made. I am looking forward to trying something more complex. I would definitely recommend and would love to come back. Edit: on a second visit I had pho and it was exactly what I hoped for. Amazing quality and taste.
The vegan pho was good as far as vegan pho goes, but my bf and I were in LOVE with the vegan spicy garlic fried noodle! Noodles were cooked well, some spice but not overwhelming (some spice fiends might want more), super garlicky which I'm a sucker for, and overall super flavorful. We definitely want to come back!
Mama Hong’s Vietnamese Kitchen There are several reasons why I enjoy going to Mama Hong’s. The main two reasons being that the food is amazing and so is the service. Last night was no different. Our sever Jordy was friendly and attentive. We tried the cream cheese wontons which were fried to perfection and filled with melty cream cheese. We also tried the delicious fried chicken spring rolls. My wife went with the Shaken Beef Tenderloin (diced tenderloin wok-fried with butter and onions). This plate is served with a huge portion of rice and a salad. If you choose, it can also be accompanied by an extremely flavorful broth. I went with a large Ox-Tail pho. The meat was tender, the broth it sat in was intense and incredibly flavorful. The two of them complemented each other. There are still so many things I want to try, so I know we will be back.
The food was delicious and so good. We had the Chicken Fried rice for all of us to share. So tasty. My son had the Ox Tail Pho and he couldn't stop raving about it. I had the Traditional Pho and it was so rich and satisfying. I took home about a third of it. My mother got the Chicken Breast Pho and was very happy with it.
What a crowded place! The atmosphere is cozy but the line of people waiting snakes through the restaurant making for a rushed experience. The spring rolls were meh but the spicy tofu banh mi was fantastic! The flavors and tofu were really delicious and the textures were a great combination. I tried that sandwich because I read about it in a novel and it was the best thing that came out of the novel!
Good Vietnamese food outside of Orange County is hard to find and not because it doesn’t exist. The difference is that Mama Hong’s is authentic but more importantly the quality of ingredients are exceptional, like rib eye beef and not the cheap beef you usually find. Making this more of a great place to go is the lunch specials that are reasonably priced and come with egg rolls or spring rolls. The beef vermicelli was more than I could eat and the pork chop bowl is two deliciously glazed thin cut pork chops that have flavor all the way through. At $24 (and some cheaper options) it is lunch that can’t be beat. Great food, great value. UPDATE: I have stopped going here because the food quality has declined quite a bit which is a management issue and the owner is going to suffer. The dry boat noodles which were one of. kind has lost all the complex goodness and has been reduced to a a basic noodle dish along with a size reduction that looks like an appetizer. It wasn't just once but multiple times and each time seemed to be getting worse.
My wife and I came here to grab lunch. We haven't been here since 2019 when we first started dating and I wanted to try it again. There parking everywhere in Burbank like the street, parking lot or structure. When we walked in, we were seated right away and given a menu. I already knew what I wanted and it was the same for my wife but it took a while to get the waiter to come back to take our order. I got the Filet Mignon pho and upgraded to a large. My wife for their chicken pho, chicken spring rolls and Vietnamese iced coffee. It took a while for our pho to come out, the spring rolls came out first and we thought it was alright. Usually at other pho places, it come out quick but it took like 10 minutes to come out. They also brought someone else's order to our table and I told them we didn't order it. When my Filet Mignon pho came, the noodles were all stuck together like a ball and the meat was already cooked. It seem like upgrading to a large bowl just means more water because I compared it to my wife chicken pho place and it was about the same a lot of noodles. My wife thought her chicken pho was alright but the chicken was already overcooked. She also thought the Vietnamese iced coffee was too strong so we asked for more condensed milk which helped a little. This wouldn't be our go to pho place because we prefer another place more.
Probably the best places to have Pho. Came here tonight with my daughter. She never wants to try Pho, and I remembered this place did have some good pho. So she finally agreed. We entered into the restaurant and was greeted by the host. We had first said let’s see the menu the minute we said that her “host” face had changed like “oh god they’re probably not gonna come in or whatever”. Needless to say, we did end up, sitting down, and her demeanor changed yet again. Go figure. I just read people very well. Our server was very sweet and gracious, and very attentive. We did sit in the back part of the restaurant which I didn’t really care for. The servers stay back there and it’s not exactly picked up …you know far as like straw papers on the floor, etc. For this being in downtown Burbank, you would also expect them to be playing some kind of music in the background. You know just for a little bit of ambience. My daughter ordered chicken Pho and I ordered the fillet mignon Pho. I also ordered spring rolls with shrimp. The fillet Pho was so tender and the broth was so flavorful. My daughter loved her Pho. I also tasted it and it was very good. The shrimp spring rolls actually were a little on the dry side and they were missing the Vietnamese basil inside. That just makes these morsels taste even and better bursting with flavor. Besides the slight “tude” of the host, the paper cups for water; this place is a must try. I have other dishes from here and never had a complaint.
The broth is clean but leaves you wanting to drink more water afterward. Portions are reasonable, and the meat is fairly standard. The combo options are well put together. Since there weren’t many customers when we arrived, the food came out fairly quickly. Overall, it’s a decent, straightforward place.
The food was delicious, but the service was near non existent. No one came by to see if we wanted refills on our drinks, they didnt say anything about the food taking a long time. We waited nearly 30 minutes to get our check. Don't think I will be going back.
3 stars ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ to give a hints that there is always room for improvement. Lights is a little bit dark imo. 🔧 Lots of choices to choose. My personal favorite is traditional combo & Spicy garlic tofu. 💯 A must go to spot and the location is perfect for hanging out or eating with friends and family.
Decided to try out this place before going to see a movie. The atmosphere is average and nothing special. The food was almost the same honestly. It was fine but nothing special. We had the Creamy Cheese Wontons which were decent, the Spicy Tofu Garlic Noodle which were not even a little bit spicy and pretty greasy but was also ok, and the Vegetable Pho with Tofu which, again, was fine but nothing special. The service was great though and the food came out quickly! Oh and the paper cups instead of regular glassware or even hard plastic was a bit of a turn-off.
I had heard about this place a lot and I had quite some expectations but unfortunately the expectations weren't met for me I ordered a spicy garlic fried noodles and egg rolls the chicken was little chewy and the egg roll was little bland. The ambience was nice next time I will probably try pho.
0 - Star Review: Unfair Seating – Ignored Yelp Waitlist and Left Hungry Totally unfair experience. Joined the Yelp waitlist and waited a VERY long time, but the Latino host rudely ignored it completely—seating people who arrived way later first. Felt intentional, no apologies, no communication. Finally walked out hungry and frustrated. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS—unfair, rude service. So many better Vietnamese spots in LA!
I've previously had decent experiences here but they lost my business when they failed to honor their Yelp waitlist system. I signed up on the iPad for a table for 2 and waited patiently on the side. Another party of 2 came after me and I watched one of them sign up as expected but they were a bit more forward in their approach by requesting to be sat down the moment they got someone's attention. Instead of checking their place in line, the waitress simply asked if they were on the waitlist and then proceeded to sit them down anyway. I walked up to another staff member informing them of their mistake. He agreed that I was right, looked back at the waitress to ask what happened, who just shrugged and kept working. After walking back to the main waiting area, I waited 5 more minutes to see if/how they'd remedy the situation and they didn't acknowledge me or apologize. The food may be good but will never be sufficient with poor service, basic respect and decorum. What's the point of a Yelp waitlist system if you're not going to enforce or follow the rules?
