Opinions de Elk’s Diner Burleson
Atmosphere lost a point only cause the table was wobbly a little. The food was amazing. Got the chicken fried steak and it is home made and delicious. The gravy was great also but I think its a mix not from scratch. Wish they had sausage gravy but it was great all the same. The waitress Taryn was amazing she was attentive and kind. The coffee is severed in the best way with a large cup. Also got a cup to go and they didn't skimp on that either. Good food with good people.
First time at the diner and this place was really good excellent food and service
Nice hometown feeling diner. Wait staff was great
I just wanted to take a moment to share our experience this morning - first the food was great - delicious, hot, giant portions - all the things you crave on a Saturday morning from a classic breakfast diner. However, what made this meal special was our waitress, Jackie. She was just...wonderful. Kind, accommodating, friendly, sweet, knowledgeable, just great. You could tell she has done this a long time, but still loves it. Right before we left, we heard her tell a very moving story to the table behind us and we loved her even more. She is just amazing. We will enjoy the food again, but we will honestly come back for Jackie. She is the kind of person you simply want to see again because you feel welcomed and comforted by being in her presence.
The biscuits and gravy was my favorite thing to get there, and the overall service was fantastic, waitress was on a roll and making sure I had my glass full
“This was my first visit and I was very impressed! The food was excellent—fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. Our server was kind, welcoming, and very attentive, making the experience even better. I’ll definitely be coming back!”
Lovely local diner with a warm, welcoming vibe. The Gathering Place feels like home—friendly staff, quick service, and hearty food that hits the spot. The breakfast menu is especially good, with generous portions and proper coffee. Great little spot to unwind, catch up with friends, or enjoy a peaceful solo meal. Always a pleasure coming here! — Stuart Bucknell, eXp Realty
I say this Texas-style serves breakfast and lunch only - in a small, unassuming space on the north side of Wilshire Blvd. in Burleson, Texas. Items like CFS (AI wouldn’t know what this is), CFC, gourmet sandwiches, and standard and Tex-Mex breakfast items are all on the menu. Service is fast and friendly. Reviewed by a real human.
Passing through town and was looking for a good breakfast spot. I actually drove to a couple other places but the pictures on those reviews didn't look all that great. However, the reviews and pictures for this lovely establishment, looked really really good. So, a quick drive away from my path, arrived and was seated right away. My server was so sweet and welcoming, like I've been a long time customer. Menu looked great and I ended up choosing an omelet with some bacon on the side. Plus a pancake. Everything was delicious, tasted fresh, and came out quickly. Very happy I stopped by and I would recommend anyone passing through to skip the chain places and go homestyle.
Nice all around old school diner. Makes you long for a time and place that no longer exists
Pretty good breakfast spot. The biscuits were delicious. The server was super nice and chill. The environment is relaxed and the food came out quickly. I’ll eat here again. Perfect slow Saturday morning breakfast vibe.
The service from Stacy was great! We're from out of town and had never been before, and she helped us decide what to order. The atmosphere was very comfy and it felt like everyone knew each other (other patrons came and chatted with us, it was really sweet). For the most part the food was good (coffee 10/10, and really good bacon and eggs); but the French Toast was pretty plain, and the hash browns were hardly browned and became more like mashed potatoes... We came in an hour before close (our bad), so that may have had something to do with it. We didn't mind though. It's a diner, not a Michelin Star establishment, so you get what you pay for. But staff was very friendly, and that's what makes a place great.
Waitress was very nice. They were only 2. Place was full. We waited a bit to be served. Which was understandable. I did not like my French toast. It was prepared in either old grease or some kind of bacon grease. It left a terrible after taste. My husband liked his omelet and hash browns and biscuit and gravy. His plate was clean when we left. Mine was disappointing.
Today was my first time to visit. I decided to go here because of the reviews. The serving size is super awesome. They are, most definitely, not stingy with the food. However, the taste is much to be desired. It was kind of bland to be honest, and the beans were under cook, not as soft as they should have been. Conversely, the service was fabulous. Stacy - our waitress - did a fantastic job. Thank you, Stacy 👏
It was ok for the price but I may have went on a slow day thus to be fair I will return and update when I do.
Worst experience ever today. The waitress was very rude. I asked for my food to be cooked correctly, because it was overly cooked and she snatched my plate with an attitude , then they charged me for extra eggs that I did not asked to be made over. I asked for a discount and they didnt want to give me one and told me there was nothing they could do. I was charged $30.37 when my reciept was only $29.00 Customer service was terrible.
I ordered a chef salad. The ranch dressing was watered down, and didn't even taste like ranch.. The ham had a rancid and sour taste. The saltine crackers were stale, soft, and had no crunch. (And I opened several packages)The lettuce was all white core chopped up. (No leafy lettuce to be found). I couldn't eat it at all. .(and I like everything). The waitress was nice though.
I am usually not the one to complain about anything and I don’t want to come off as rude but today was just it for me. I went with my family to eat here and mind you nothing to do with the waitresses, they were nice. Well first to start off, we get tea and I don’t know if it was the tea or just the cup but it smelled and the way I can describe the smell was like wet dog. Then when we got our food, right when our waitress puts our food down a roach crawls on tops of our table, at that point I wanted to move and so I asked. She was really polite about it and had us move, no biggie. Well we started eating our food and I was kind of already grossed out with the roach situation so was the rest of my family but I told them to just try to finish, it didn’t touch our food and mind you I am pregnant when this happened, so I am very sensitive right, I was a tad nauseous already and we stop here so I could just grab a bite to eat to feel better before heading back home. I wasn’t trying to think about it anymore since she moved us tables, I was like well let me just eat. I got the skillet with home fries and a biscuit and gravy on the side. My skillet was not great, the home fries taste like they have been out or over cooked. Then while I was eating the skillet I saw a hair in the bite I am about to take. I got grossed out again. I was still trying to just not be rude and not seem like I am complaining about everything so I just put my skillet to the side, didn’t even say anything about it and decided to eat my biscuits and gravy…. Well that wasn’t enjoyable either the biscuit was hard over baked and at that point I was ready to leave and go home. Again nothing to do with our waitress, she was polite and nice but I felt like I just had to share my experience. I came here before and didn’t have this experience, so I am not trying to knock the place, I know it’s a place where lots of people come and I am just trying to let every be aware of my experience here. Clearly they have a roach problem, it’s not in just my review but in others as well. Not to mention, it was a little expensive for the quality of food.
