Dinner was fantastic and the food was delicious I would recommend the tomahawk steak for two. The Service was fabulous and the View.

Excellent large Rib Eye- tender and cooked to perfection. Smaller steak cooked well but too much pepper on the outside. Great view of the whales from our table.

Without a doubt; the best date spot in town. I wish I could have taken a picture, but I was so in awe and present. Gorgeous views with whales jumping at sunset!! De Cortez fine dining restaurant at Hacienda Del Mar Cabo San Lucas went above and beyond. We celebrated our 30 year anniversary dinner and our experience was phenomenal. 5 star service. I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. We had absolutely amazing service from the second we arrived. While we were eating the most delicious food, the owner and chef came to check on us and see how we were liking things, which is always great customer service in my book. They ended up being the sweetest team of professional waitstaff, cook staff, and management staff we have ever had the pleasure of spending an evening with. In addition, the view is insanely beautiful, the decorations are so welcoming and the music was outstanding. We recommend the beer mojito, the gazpacho, the onion rolls (included in the meal), the slow cooked pork belly, the salmon, the shrimp, the cheesecake, and the passion mouse and caramel biscuit, and the truffles. As you can see, we recommend everything we ate because it was all spectacular. But even more so, the people that worked there made it the amazing experience that it was and we are so grateful we had the opportunity to dine with them. We HIGHLY recommend eating with them!

I went here for dinner. The menu was recently creatively revamped. The flavor combinations were simple and solid but the dish presentation was complex. The staff was attentive and helpful but not intrusive. Management deserves credit. Also, the view and atmosphere can't be beaten. I have never had such fresh sashimi.

De Cortez is THE place for breakfast if you’re in Cabo! Not only is everything on the menu absolutely delicious, but the service is friendly and attentive. The chef goes above and beyond, we’ve never had a better breakfast experience. Alfredo was the man! He was so kind and made our dining experience fun and welcoming. Can’t recommend this place enough!! We will definitely be back next November:)

Our entire dining experience was remarkable! We all enjoyed our dishes(sea bass, short ribs, fillet minion, risotto, and salads were top notch, but if you’re into bone marrow, don’t skip it! Our waiter Oliver was pro, making us feel very well cared for without being annoying. Manager Gabriel is obviously doing an excellent job.

My lady and I went for our anniversary dinner and shared a Tomahawk with all the extras. It was delicious. Food was great, service was pleasant but a bit slow (ok with me, we got everything we wanted anyway and weren't in a hurry). Cocktails were just alright, and there was a large family nearby with a very loud iPad (honestly who does that at a fine dining restaurant...) but that wasn't enough to come close to ruining our evening. We hoped to be seated right near the beach, but the tide was very high and it washed over the wall and flooded most of the outdoor seating! Made for a very unique experience to see it happen. Overall we loved it, and we'll be back next time we stay at Hacienda del Mar.

Food: 6* Service: 5* Ambiance: 5* The service was excellent. Attentive but not annoying, helpful but not hovering. The ambiance was open air with a live guitar playing hits next to a fire pit. You could hear the ocean waves lapping ashore while seeing the ocean crowned in silvery moonlight. The food, can we talk about the food? 6* out of 5 does NOT do it justice. For an appetizer, I had a dozen oysters. Being February, I asked if it was advisable to eat them as I had always heard only eat oysters in months that end in R (e.g. September, October, ...). Well mine were delicious, plump, juicy, and briny. Wow!My partner also ordered scallops. They were sea scallops, big, juicy, and plump. We washed it all down with an espresso martini, delicious! For the main, I had the lobster tail, thinking only a small langoustine or small single tail. Was I pleasantly surprised to find 3 x 4 oz. Lobster tails. They were plump, sweet, me ample. My partner had the New York steak. Normally we choose rib eye in the US, but we have found the New York steak in Latin America to be superior to rib eye from the same region, it was succulent, juicy, and seasoned perfectly. Our friends shared a tomahawk steak. It was huge. But, fryer tasting it, I preferred our New York much better, for its flavor and tenderness. We asked for Cabernet and they gave us one from "California" he said. What he meant to say was Baja California. It wasn't bad but really sub-par. We asked for an Italian and he produced a Montepulciano and it was delicious and for the same price. I would return again.

One of the best restaurants at Hacienda del Mar resort. The service was top notch and attentive throughout dinner. The butcher board is a good option if you have a party of 6 & desiring the grill items. The tomahawk steak was a great steak to share as it included two sides and 2 sauces. The steak was perfectly cooked and was delicious and didn't need the sauces but both the chimichurri and bearnaise were fantastic. The burger was enormous and could share with someone as well. the other dishes were proportioned well and well prepared.

We love eating here for breakfast and dinner. The staff are very accommodating. We have a small dog so they always find us a good seat outside. They serve our dog with water right away. We go here for breakfast during our stay at the resort because we don’t like buffets. It is more quiet here and the music is light. Their Eggs Benedict selection is a good start for your day. Our favorite is having dinner here. The beautiful sunset clouds in Cabo is so beautiful. Dine here before sunset and you will be mesmerized by the beautiful sky. The food selection is not that bad either. Be prepared to spend a minimum of $50 USD for breakfast and $150 for dinner. Please don’t forget to tip the waiters. We’ve been to so many restaurants around the world and Mexicans and Filipinos are the most hard working and friendliest people out there. Please, appreciate them.

De Cortez brings together the view, service, food and thoughtfulness. My only disappointment was that the smaller scallops were over cooked, while the larger ones were cooked well.

Prices are a bit overboard. 10 a shrimp is outrageous. Had it been outstanding, I would eat there again.

El lugar bonito y la comida igual muy buena aunque no la mejor, la atención dentro del restaurante es muy buena pero la host en la entrada parece cadenero y entablar una conversación con ella es de las cosas más repugnantes a las que me he enfrentado jaja, ya que no puedes entrar sin reservación aunque el restaurante está vacío. En general es de lo poco que me puedo quejar del restaurante, todo lo demás bastante bien.

Eating on the beachfront at de Cortez is a tough location to beat. It was quiet and tranquil even as other guests filled the restaurant. Be sure to make a reservation and to order the organico salad, scallops, and seabass. We were less thrilled about the peach dessert and the mushroom risotto. I would also like to complement the green accent color throughout the decor, it worked well.

I made reservations several weeks in advanced for our friends Anniversary celebration. While food was very good and service was wonderful I was disappointed they did not make an effort for our friends 30th wedding anniversary. It was not a cheap meal then add in the 3 bottles of wine. The first thing I have to say is that De Cortez is very pricey. I think you mostly pay for the view, which is amazing, right on the beach! The food tasted great. They had a good selection of wine. The restaurant itself is very upscale, yet casual. I probably would not dine at De Cortez again unless someone else is paying for my meal.

Decent food. Overpriced and small portions. Convenient? Sure. Much better options await beyond the property.

Ordered the mixed grill for 6 people, steak and seafood. But it had only 4 scallops and 5 shrimp...not exactly easy to divide between 6 of us. Beautiful setting, but much too expensive for the quality and quantity of food provided.

Took more than an hour to get the food we ordered (simple breakfast foods), even after many asks. Food was mixed - cooked foods were delicious but some of the fruit was expired

Undercooked risotto. Flavorless seafood skillet with 1 shrimp, 1 scallop, 2 mussels and 2 clams for $50. Used to love this place but not worth it…at all.

2nd Visit Aug 2025 Wanted to leave a review for De Cortez from our second visit there during our recent stay at Hacienda Del Mar. Much improved on the second visit. Israel was our server, service much better! Carpaccio, grilled romaine and the ribeye tomahawk were all good. We finished the whole steak! Nice desserts too! Deserves a visit… Update Aug 2025 De Cortez continues to be a very poorly managed restaurant. Venue is beautiful, seaside/beach front, crashing waves all evening. The great experience stopped there. We tried booking a group of 9, but the restaurant refused, claiming that keeping track of separate checks (3) would be a problem. Our group sat at two different tables. Both tables waited hours for food, a meal of a salad and an entree look over 2-1/2 hours. Some in our group simply got up and left, went back to their rooms without eating. The food that did show up was OK, many of the sides were cold. If you’re there with the resort’s meal plan, it’s an extra $35/person just to dine there. A total rip-off! No assistance from wait staff, manager, etc., all just shrugged and offered to explanations or resolutions. So sad to have taken new guests there, total disappointment. For the prices charged, your money is best spent elsewhere! Avoid this place! Update July 2024 We're staying at the Hacienda Del Mar resort in Cabo San Lucas, and one of the main restaurants (out of three) available for dinner is De Cortez. We had a wonderful experience there. We enjoyed the atmosphere at the bar before dinner, the bartender was very good, the Mezcalitas were on top. We are beginning to explore the world of mezcal, and these cocktails were a nice experience on that journey. We did have the crazy experience of watching the frenzy of the restaurant service staff vacate the row of tables next to the sea wall; it was the night of the full moon, and a monster wave came crashing over the seawall... after the soaked scramble, the vibe returned ... De Cortez really presents a very nice atmosphere, very comfortable, nice fire pit, live music in the bar area that can be heard throughout the restaurant. Our first course was the grilled romaine salad and the endive and blue cheese salad. Both were excellent, very fresh, well-balanced ingredients. The second course entrees included the NY steak, presented at the perfect temperature, and the fresh catch of the day (seabass), also prepared very well. The sides of mashed potatoes and fresh asparagus were delightful! We finished up with a couple of glasses of wine and the caramel tartlet. The wines were perfect (although a bit pricey), and the dessert was sublime, with just the right amount of sweetness. An excellent dining experience ... we plan to do it again! _____________________________________________ Update Oct 2023 We dined a De Cortez during our first weekend at Hacienda Del Mar... what a disappointment ... The service was poor, the food average at best, and the overall experience was only 2 stars, if that... The one positive was the Somm, Christopher, great job helping us select a Mexican Aglianico wine, well cellared, temperature perfect, decanted at the table, delicious! Our food courses started with salads, the Romaine salad with cheese and the Endive and Blue cheese salad. While at first visually pleasing, upon getting into the dishes the lettuces were old, grey and wilted, and the endive just plain rotten in the cores of the leaves. Much of the romaine lettuce was also old and brown. In addition, one really bizarre issue with the endive and blue cheese salad was that it was served on a plate of rocks... maybe that's "creativity" but you cannot cut the salad on rocks, so we assumed it was intended to be finger-food, really unappealing for a salad... After finishing what we could salvage of the salads, the dirty dishes sat on the table for 30 minutes, not that there weren't waiters/servers around, they just didn't bus the tables and clear the dishes timely.

Dissappointing. Booked for my wife's birthday. Service was slow. Forgot about sprcial occassion.

Food was great, but the service was absolutely horrible. It was like our waiter forgot about us. Never came around to see if I needed another drink (thank god there was water at the table) and took forever to get our food. I wanted dessert, but wasn’t about to wait another half an hour for ice cream. Had to flag down someone to get our bill as well. Highly disappointed!!!!!

I was so underwhelmed for the price. Very expensive. Service was slow and lacking. An hour and a half plus to get main course. Food was mediocre at best. Menu was very limited. No vegetarian options. No kids menu. If you’re from the US, you should avoid. Not what we are used to. Nice view. We had to argue over the bill in regards to US vs Pesos for tip. I would not return.

Wanted to have a great experience on our anniversary, but a complete miss at the property. Charged for water we didn’t order, food came out misprepared without so much as an apology.

Unfortunately the restaurant decided to discriminate against people under the age of 18. I've visited De Cortez previously with my extremely well behaved 11-yr old and now she is 12 and unable to frequent this restaurant. Hopefully in the future, De Cortez is able to distinguish between clients with customers who represent with professional customers rather than limit their clients by age. Good luck, the remaining restaurants on your property are very challenged to receive ratings above mid-range ratings already based on the exorbitant charges placed on the customers.

I cannot recommend it due to a deeply disappointing and racist experience at De Cortez. Despite the restaurant being nearly empty, we noticed that all people of color, including my partner and I, were seated at the back of the restaurant (away from the preferred ocean view). It was too evident to ignore and left us feeling unwelcome. No one should have to experience this kind of discrimination while on vacation.
