Rock Bottom Brewery Restaurant - San Jose

It had been decades since I have been here and randomly stopped by this week. Was a Tuesday evening after work, not busy. Friendly wait staff, good food, clean environment. Came for appetizers and a drink. The duck wings were wonderful and will be back to get them again.

Nice collection of beers and food here with reasonable price. I visited this place with my colleagues and it was really great experience there. I had their beer sampler and it was great. Their Nachos, wings and vegetarian burgers were amazing. Pretty crowded and recommended to make reservations rather than walk-ins especially if you are in groups. One of the best breweries in Campbell area. They have multiple TV screens near the bar area for games.

Have been there alone on a Tuesday evening. Got a seat very quickly w/o reservation. Scenery is a typical amazing Sports Bar Style. The beers were brilliant and the burger a dream! Hope to come back to San Jose soon

Very nice and lively restaurant serving American foods! Generous outdoor seating, friendly and thoughtful staff, and good value make for my 5 star review. I ordered the Fish n chips, which came with coleslaw. The batter on the fish was thicker than I expected, but it resulted in a crispy exterior and a chewy interior, which was quite pleasant. The service was a bit slow, but it seemed that there were only 2-3 waiters to serve 20 or so tables.

Such a great experience with the food was extremely good so the price was worth it! The waitress had been pretty nice! It's not a great atmosphere for 6 it was good enough🤍🙏

The beer is exceptional here. Apologies to other breweries in the Bay Area, but Rock Bottom has the best beer—it's truly amazing. Always excellent service and decent food. The newly updated menu features firecracker shrimps, which are a jackpot! PT’s Pale Ale is perfect starter beer and then continue with Pruneyard IPA. You won’t be disappointed.

We had burgers for lunch and they were quite good! Appetizers were consistent with my current diatribe; they were on the small side (which I prefer) but the price made me expect something larger. But such is the way of current restaurant pricing. The pretzel sticks were a big win. I was expecting more of a mustard sauce, but the spiced cheese went well with the very soft pretzels. The tater tots were well prepared and crispy but the sauce didn't do really as much for them. Service was nice--good recommendations and just enough banter. :-) There weren't so many TVs they were unavoidable and we were seated in the best spot to avoid them, as requested. Overall the food was good and we had a nice chat. Seemed pricey, but c'est la guerre--I just need to reconcile with current restaurant pricing or decide to do more cooking at home.

Sat at the bar and had a few pints. Campbell Kolsch was refreshing and perfect on a hot summer afternoon. The Juicy IPA was not to my taste. Decent nachos too.

With the pandemic finding a nice place to eat and stay safe is a challenge. I like how we were able to sit outside and be safe with a lovely scenery. The drinks and service were great. We will be returning once things open up a little more.

Rock Bottom is a chain, but also brings some local hints into their restaurants. They brew their beer onsite so it tastes slightly different at any location you go to. However, you will always be able to find something you like as they do have a wide variety of beer styles. The Hefeweizen is my favorite. This location has a great bar area set up. Tons of TVs so it is a great place to watch a sports game. They also have weekend brunch specials for those games that are earlier in the day. I recommend getting the nachos. It is a huge plate great for sharing and they come loaded! You can also add on chicken and guacamole which makes them even better. Service is usually pretty good. Bathrooms are clean. Parking can be a little tricky as the Pruneyard is very busy at most times of the day. Indoor and outdoor seating are available.

Located in Pruneyard Shopping center, a great place for Happy hour. I have visited several times to this place. They have quite a few selection on the happy hour menu. I just love there Brewery Nachos. Always great and friendly service. Place do gets busy. Great place to hangout.

First time here for a dinner with colleagues, we shared good nachos and duck. The beer was good and the flatbread also

Tough time for restaurants in general. No different here. Only four beers on tap, menu items unavailable and new items being introduced. Very popular spot, making for long lines for tables but the staff kept moving people in. Ask that said, the service was very professional, helpful navigating the changes and availability and friendly. The beer we had was very tasty and satisfying and the wagyu burger was delicious! Everyone enjoyed the dinner and left happy. Also well that ended well. They did well under challenging circumstances.

The beer and food was solid, and the service was good. I got everything I ordered pretty quickly.

We went late in the evening in search of food and lucky enough as they serve food till late. Spacious sport bar with variety of beers on tap. The service was quick for us, maybe due to less crowded at that time. The food was above average. The habanero grilled chicken was amazing. Love the vibe and place.

This is a decent restaurant, with a small brewery inside of it. It’s located in the Pruneyard area of Cambell, which is a really beautiful area. The restaurant has a good amount of indoor and outdoor seating and specializes mainly in American dishes and beers. I would say come here if you’re hungry, this isn’t your traditional brewery, experience and more like a restaurant. The beer here was actually really good. The food they have a lot of options as well. I was happy enough with the beer and the orders that we made. The service was a little bit slow considering that there wasn’t a lot of people at 1 o’clock on a Saturday but it wasn’t a huge tissue. This place would be perfect on a warm day, because you can sit outside and drink beer and watch locals as you relax and enjoy the warm warmth. Even on a cold day, they have outdoor heaters, which is nice.

We came in on an afternoon visit. We used to come in more often. I ordered chicken strips and husband ordered a hamburger. The beer was at a special of $2.00 and is always good. In the past, the strips used to be amazing. I found them a bit dry and just ok. No complaints about the hamburger. The place needs a revamp. Half the seats (booths) have torn upholstery.

This place was great, service was almost perfect. First off we came here from a different restaurant in the pruneyard that we had a reservation at, but would not do separate check once we were seated. Our waiter at the brewery accommodated 13 ladies without any problems. Gave us separate checks, and didn't even confuse us when it came time to hand them out. And our food was delicious. 2 people split the nacho appetizer, and had some to spare. I had the flauta appitizer and corn on the cob with queso. Other dishes ordered were the chicken fried chicken, the quesadillas, street tacos, and salads. Everyone enjoyed there food, Portions were just right.l

Have been here many times for lunches, and company happy-hours. Great draft beers with all the fighter food choices. The restaurant setting gives it fun and chill feel! Btw a good place also for both vegan folks and meat lovers!

Had dinner tonight with hubby for first time. We ordered the deviled eggs appetizer which have a spicy kick but very flavorful especially with the bacon bits (5 or 6 for $9) and watched the games inside! He had the burrito bowl with steak cooked to order (they offer white rice, blend rice, or cauliflower rice) it came with black beans, avocado, tomatoes, he loved it! Comparable to Chipotle but much better and not bad for $15! I definitely want to try one next visit! I ordered fish and chips and definitely a memorable dish! Not too crunchy, but Not soft or soggy, the 4 pieces of cod were paired well with this chipotle tartar sauce (not spicy) and the waffle fries were the same great texture and a huge portion for $21! All in all, great service, clean place, great music and sports games, two entrees, a soft drink, and app for $60 after tax (before tip) and they brew their own beer! Highly recommend!

First visit here, we had the wings to start and tried a soup, salad, steak, apple coleslaw & Mac & cheese. All were very good. Nice outdoor seating. Service was a little slow, bit it was Saturday night. We will both be going back.

Great place to watch 49er games with plenty of tables! Met 2 buddies for some beer and snacks last Sunday. Had the Cheeseburger Sliders w French fries and a Margarita Pizza. I chased the food w the IPA they have on tab.

I have been frequenting Rock Bottom for many years. Have things changed with new ownership, staffing changes, and turnover? Sure! However, for the locals who know, Rock is where you go for quality brewed Kölsch or IPAs by the extremely friendly and amazing brewer. Also, it is where you go for having a positively memorable customer experience provided by Dolly, Mike, Ash and Riely.

My family and I came here on the 4th of July for dinner and sat outside. First, the table was dirty, but our waitress cleaned it when we made the request. The service was great even though the food is mediocre. The chicken fried chicken with gravy was tasty.

Food was ok. Waitress was good. Tortilla Soup was cold and had to be warmed again. It was too spicy. The waitress took orders in a certain way, but still food was delivered to wrong people in our party, causing problems with orders.

I made a visit back here August 2022. Something has changed with the quality of the beer, they have a very tart taste, perhaps it’s the type of hops being used, but even the stable Winchester Red does not taste as good as it once did. Also pricing has gone up it seems, I came at happy hour and there were no food items on happy hour pricing and the beers I thought were very expensive (only $2 off a pint, so about $6 each). I wouldn’t have minded so much but they tasted very bad. My kids liked the food, all deep fried fare. Sadly, I don’t feel this brewery was as good as it was in the past.

Good beer. Not what it once was. Menu needs serious work. The bar staff is always great, but until they get it together in the kitchen I only drink here. There is seriously better food steps away in the pruneyard. Duck wings was IMO the only worthy addition to the menu.

The food and beers are great. Service is terrible. I sat at a high top for 10 min and no one ever came over. After waiting I decided to sit at the bar. Hopefully the bartender was just new, because definitely sub par. Hopefully it will be better next time, the food is really good.

Their beer and guac were good. I didn't get a chance to try their food. the worst part of the experience was their chairs, worst design ever. if you like a wood board digging into your back you will enjoy this place! the bottom of the backboard is at just the right height to mess you up, I'm pretty sure I need a backeotemy. i will add our server was great too!

The good: The beer was yummy, and the selection was decent. The server was friendly, though I think they were understaffed. The bad: They weren't quick on getting food out, so it sat a bit and wasn't hot. Examples being Tater Tot Fondue, where cheese had developed the skin and the tots were not hot. Also, the Fried Pickles were over fried, and then also not hot. So that sucked. It had a great sauce though. The fine: The Chicken Sandwich and Club were both fine, they had decent flavor. I'd probably go back for a beer and a snack, but I wouldn't seek it out.

Feels like we were unlucky during our visit. Place looked nice and promising, but lots of smaller things spoiled our visit. There was someone smoking in the outside area, and while we were inside, there was still traces of cigarette smoke in the air. Service was somewhat slow and not very helpful. I suspect I got a smaller beer glass than I asked for, but that’s alright, chances are I don’t end up being an alcoholic because of them. Food was average at best. Server mentioned something about beers refills somewhere at the taps, but then disappeared and only returned to give us our check.

Ordered on a Sunday afternoon via doordash. Food was lukewarm. Nachos were pretty good, paltry amount of chicken but overall pretty good but cold. The veggie bean burger was decent but nothing spectacular. Mac and cheese was pretty good, moist. Kolsch beer was refreshing as well as the wicked elf was alright. Might try some other beer here but the business name perhaps precedes my experience here.

UPDATE: Came back after a year. Tried their bbq chicken and ribs and they were both really good. The dish includes fries and coleslaw, I'd keep the fries and swap the coleslaw for another side. Im generally a fan of coleslaw but this one was not good. The dish is quite big, we shared that and a side of brussel sprouts between two people. Service was great, we'll come back for sure --------- I had high hopes but honestly it wasn't the best experience. We visited with our dog because they have a very large outdoor patio. The server was nice and took our order quite quickly. We had two different kinds of beer, the Kolsch and the Pale Ale. They were both great for $3 each. I was disappointed by the actual food. I ordered the Fancy Farmer Bowl only to discover that while it does look healthy and colorful, the ingredients don't really go well together. Also, the dressing was too acidic for my taste and didn't improve the dish. That being said, both the side of fries and the brussel sprouts were AMAZING! Oh! And if you're sitting outside (we sat near the wall, not the road) wear long pants. I was really put off due to the amount of flies that kept touching my legs. I couldn't get out of there fast enough.

Pros: Lots of seating, food came out quick Cons: Very average food, the steak and flatbread left a lot to be desired. Only 3 beers available, plus obviously understaffed. Took forever to get the server’s attention for anything

CHECK YOUR BILL - servers know most people don't check. 3 things were added to our bill we did not order. people might argue this was just an "innocent mistake" but it happens 80% of the time when I dine out and it's never in favor of the patron, if it was just a mistake it would not favor the server 100% of the time This is the only reason I gave the restaurant 2 stars. So if you check your bill carefully each time you come here It will be a great experience.

If you're gonna burn my chicken, at least melt my cheese. Server was great, though she didn't ask how the meal was and I'm wondering if it's because she's tired of hearing it. Our proteins were flavorless, her steak was overcooked, green beans were mush. My chicken was dry, burnt, and flavorless. Pasta was great. What I had of the sauce was good but skimpy, just like the little baby slice of Mozz on my chicken parm. If you're looking for that cheese and sauce covered chicken parm, this is not the place. That's just not the style. You'll see on the photos. Mind you, I used it sparingly with each bite. Gonna have to ration it. 2 entrees, 1 cocktail, 1 lemonade, 1 pup plate, 1 appetizer was $105 of not even mediocore food. 3.9 stars? I'm not seeing it. 2.9 stars would make more sense. I wouldn't recommend this place to a friend, so that's why I'm posting.

Did not honor the free pint of beer with any steak entree special that's shown on display cards at tables all over the restaurant. Also, somehow I got upcharged for a salad that I didn't even ask for. Great food but disappointed with the bait and switch and sketchy service. Overpaid by $18+ for no reason. Won't be returning here ever.

We ordered from Rock Bottom tonight through DoorDash; for $73 (including delivery fees), they did not include any of our salads whatsoever nor did they include the au jus for the french dip. Normally, their service in the restaurant is satisfactory, but I would highly suggest against placing an order with Rock Bottom via delivery apps, since it seems that their kitchen does not provide or enforce a similar level of scrutiny outside of the dining area itself.

Sitting in the restaurant still waiting for our food after an hour. Used to love coming to Rock bottom before they reached rock bottom. Badly managed and hopelessly under staffed. Or chasing profits over people

This place has hit rock bottom for sure. The restroom was dirty and aging and graffiti on the mirror, paper towels on the floor. The service was good from the bartender, but that was all. Apparently, this establishment had been bought a couple of times by different entities. The burbon blue cheese burger was sad, starting with the buns were just like flat bread with no fluff and tasteless, along with the plain flavor fries that were not even hot, just warm. Just go elsewhere like In N out for food and it'll also cost less. Trust me.
