This location of UlavacharU is much better with more spaced out seating. The interior design is beautiful mostly wooden with bamboo accents. We ordered Andhra style Mirchi bajji and it was a good spin on Mirchi pakoda. Madras paratha with chana was great too. Ghee Kara masala Dosa and rava kesari were delicious.
Went here for the first time today and definitely will be back! Easy parking, immediate seating and inviting ambiance was a great start. Extensive dosa menu was a little intimidating but I asked for a recommendation and loved the crispy Ravi Dosa I got. It was served with 4 different delicious chutneys and some sambar as well. I also tried the Podi Idly and it was fantastic! Would be very happy to eat the same thing next time but may also want to explore other choices.
Ulavacharu Tiffins is a hidden gem for South Indian cuisine lovers! The Madras Paratha with Chole was a standout dish - the paratha was flaky and flavorful, while the chole was rich and spicy. The Onion Rava Masala Dosa was also decent, with a nice balance of sweet and savory flavors. The service was prompt and friendly, and the prices were very reasonable. Overall, a great spot for a delicious and authentic South Indian meal. Highly recommended!
Amazing restaurant in walkable distance. 3rd time today.Food is amazing and 5 stars "I had an amazing dining experience at the establishment, thanks to Aarn Singh and Kumar's exceptional service. From the moment I walked in, they greeted me with warm smiles and made sure I felt welcome throughout. They were attentive, knowledgeable, and went above and beyond to ensure that my dining experience was exceptional. They provided great recommendations, took care of my requests promptly, and made sure I had everything I needed. The service they provided was truly outstanding, and they made me feel like a valued customer. I would highly recommend Aarn Singh and Kumar to anyone looking for an unforgettable dining experience. Thank you for your outstanding service
They have great South Indian food including dosa and idly and also have good poori and Chana. The idlys are soft especially the podi idly, the vadas are crispy like they should be, the poori Chana or madras parantha is really flavorful. The service is good and the ambience at this location is particularly amazing.
Pure vegetarian and authentic South Indian restaurant. Food is absolutely delicious, we tried ghee dosa, ghee rava onion masala dosa , idly vada combo and onion tomato chili uthappam. Everything was so so good and service is excellent. I’d highly recommend you try this place, we will be coming back here whenever we crave South Indian food.
Ulavacharu Tiffins in Campbell is a gem for anyone craving authentic Indian cuisine! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted warmly and experienced fantastic service throughout. The staff is attentive and genuinely friendly, ensuring we had everything we needed for a wonderful dining experience. The food is outstanding, with a menu offering a wide variety of traditional dishes to choose from. Whether you’re in the mood for classic dosas, idlis, there’s something to satisfy every craving. Each dish is rich in flavor, and you can tell the ingredients are fresh and prepared with care. The ambiance is also inviting and comfortable, making it a perfect spot for a relaxed meal with family or friends. I can’t recommend Ulavacharu Tiffins enough for anyone looking for true Indian flavors and excellent service. I’ll be definitely be back to try more dishes!
Came here for weekend brunch. No line at around 10am. Ordered two entries. Special Rava Masala Dosa($13.49) It is huge. I was shocked by the size of it when it is served. The special part is it has carrot and grilled coconut in it. It is crispy on the side and soft in the middle. Poori with Kurma. The poori they serve are bigger than my expectation too! And the kurma is really tasty! Good environment. There is only one server at this time. Waited a few minutes to order but once order is done, food is served quickly.
Their ghee kara masala dosa is just out of the world. Crispy. Spicy. And just perfect. Their chutneys are pretty good as well.
Food was really good. Especially the South Indian Thaali was really yummy. Reminded me of home food while eating it!!
Hands down the best south Indian snacks place in bay area. Their dosa is another level. Cannot go wrong with any orders really
We’ve visited Ulavacharu multiple times, and the service has been consistently exceptional — friendly, fast, and incredibly attentive every single visit. The flavors are bold, authentic, and incredibly satisfying. The ambience is clean, modern, and perfect for both families and groups.
My first visit and it took me back to my time in Chennai. The service is fast and friendly. The menu is intense but they also have a “thali” which we ordered. Basically the one green veg item was the main deal rest was so so. The Rava … special ghee masala dosa was nice. All in all nice meal and pleasant ambiance. The manager was very pleasant and helpful as well. Price points are actually decent. Dinner for two with coffee about 50 bucks including tip.
How did we miss this ? When the default location for South India food is Cupertino or Sunnyvale, we never thought there would be such a great place in Campbell. We came here on a Saturday afternoon and the place was packed !! (Not surprisingly) The service was quick, and the food was excellent. We had the Masala Dosa, Uthappam and the Chana Poori. The ginger-jaggery sauce was new find. We had the pistachio falooda for dessert, which was great as well. Highly recommended!!
It’s the same as ulavacharu Santa Clara but better! Great ambience and lots of space here. Love it.
This restaurant is big and service is excellent. Plenty of parking and huge menu selection. I will be back to try other items in the menu.
Went here for dinner on a Sunday night and it was moderately busy with a 10 minute wait to be seated. I tried their daily special thali, which was delicious. The best dishes in the thali were the Amaranth leaves moong dal fry, Pooris, and Spinach dal. One thing that could be improved is the rice portion size in the thali, which was a little small for the amount of curries. The ambiance is better than their Santa Clara location, and the service was quick.
This location is super pretty! They have kept the Japanese architecture from the previous owners looks like! We had the veg thali for lunch n it was great! Every single item tasted so good. Good portion size as well. Enjoyed south Indian meals after a very long time.. must try!
Loved this place. We were here for breakfast. Food is very tasty and very kind service. We had Chai, Filter Coffee, Puri Bhaaji, Dosa, Idli-Vada-upma combo. We liked all the items we ordered. We especially liked their special Ginger-Jaggery Chutney. They also sell those chutneys in 8 oz containers. Very nice Asian interior since this place used to be a sushi restaurant before. They have added small Indian touches to the decor without spoiling the original feel of the place. We will definitely come back to try more dishes.
Great place for Sadhya Thali and Kara dosas. We all enjoyed Several Kerala dishes : Soya chunks, Kootu curry, Pradhaman, Rasam, Polissery, Parripu Payasam ( too good ). Very pleasant Servers / Hosts, though its busy.
I recently visited Ulavacharu Tiffins here in Campbell, CA, and I must say it was an outstanding experience. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm hospitality by the manager Raj and his attentive team. Raj went above and beyond to ensure I’ve had a memorable dining experience, guiding through the menu and recommending some must-try dishes. The food was exceptional: full of flavour, authentic, and freshly prepared. The entire staff was friendly, quick, and efficient, making us feel like valued customers. Highly recommend Ulavacharu Tiffins for their amazing food and top-notch service! Will definitely be returning ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Lot of dine in space, amazing south Indian food., no wait time on a sat evening around 9 pm. Decently occupied though. Quick and neat service., Highly recommend
The Indian restaurant business in the Bay Area is very highly competitive. To land a customer who will keep coming back requires distinction in several aspects of the dining experience. Uluvacharu has distinguished itself. The four different chutneys served along with the dosa, each has a flavor that competes for your next bite. The sambhar has an authentic consistency with just the right mix and quantity of veggies. 10 months later, they are as good! (2/25). I like it spicy! The Ghee Kara Onion Masala Dosa just hit the spot! A year later (2/26) and they are keeping up their standards! The service has to be mentioned. Many restaurants never have the wait staff offer a 2nd helping of the chutneys and sambhar... Uluvacharu does. Now that is service. Finally, once we were done, we were left alone to enjoy our filter coffee and stay... I am signing up to be a regular!

As good as the Santa Clara one, but way less crowded and better seating. Definitely worth the extra drive, coz you end up getting the table immediately. Benne masala dosa and the punugulu were pretty tasty!
We were seated in 3mins. Order arrived in 10 mins. Fresh hot delicious food. 5 star quality. Love the variety of chuntneys. Mylapore has it's own charm but the wait time is too much. My family loves Ullavacharu ove Mylapore.

We came here for dinner when they had only recently opened. The food was as good as the other location. But service was very uncoordinated and confusing.we got items that we didn’t order. The appetizer was the last to come 15 minutes after we u done with our dinner. hoping to visit again for a better experience .
Dropped into Ulavacharu Tiffins, Campbell on a busy Saturday afternoon. The kitchen was slammed, so service moved slowly, but the food made up for it. Stand-outs • Kara & Benne Dosas: Paper-thin, buttery, and perfectly spiced. • Idlis: Soft and fluffy. • Chutneys: Coconut and peanut versions were phenomenal—worth the visit on their own. • Sambar: Comforting and well-balanced. Weekend Veg Thali (~$17) Generous rice, puri, papad, sambar, rasam, and several gravies, but only two dry veggies (mostly cabbage). A couple more sabjis would round it out nicely. Mysore Boonda Five large, crisp-outside, airy-inside pieces—great value, though not something I’d reorder often. Despite the wait, this place shines for tiffin items. I’ll be back for those dosas and chutneys!
This cozy South Indian spot is a solid choice if you’re in the neighborhood. I popped in for lunch after a hike and appreciated the clean, relaxed atmosphere. The menu features a wide range of dosas—from classic masala to fusion varieties—and the food, while not groundbreaking, hits the mark. Service is polite and efficient, and prices are in line with other Bay Area eateries. Overall, it’s a convenient, pleasant place for reliable South Indian food.
We visited here for the first time. This is a newish facility so it seems clean and well maintained. The menu is the standard Udipi fare with a wider variety of Dosas. The benne dosa was excellent and the other dosas were very large. The vegetable stuffing was ok. They had 3 chutneys. The ginger chutney was in Aditi Al to the traditional tomato chutney and coconut chutney. The vada sambhar came with 3 vadas dipped in sambhar and with the 3 chutneys. The vadas were were not very crisp and light but rather dense. And the sambhar was just ok. We had filter coffee which was good. Our server was from Pathankot in the north friendly but not very knowledgeable about the different dishes. The menu is quite large and the servings are generous. They just have to work on the sambhar and the vadas
Food: 70+ items I went with the. Masala Dosa + Gulab Jamun + Fresh Lime Soda (salt) The sambar wasn’t too spicy however it is a small quantity. The food comes with several variety of chutneys ( Tomato, Coconut, Ginger and Peanut). Each have their own pro/con to them you just have to try it, my fav was the coconut. Dosa is huge. I love it when the food is bigger than the plate ( not this isn’t sarcasm). The dosa was nice and crisp on the edges and soft as you get to the middle. The masala is small portion as well but not overly salty/spicy. I did not like how the two bowls were placed on top of the dosa. Not a huge deal but a bit awkward. Gulab jamun was perfect and the lime masala soda was really well made. Restaurant Previously this was a Japanese restaurant. New management decided to keep the aesthetic. There is a section that you can reserve that feels more like Japanese dining. Decent parking around the property, careful when coming in from one of the entrances. There is a metal plate that can be a bit wobbly. Been here 5+times, only made a loud noise once. Two restrooms in the back. Bathroom on the right was pretty big for anyone who might need more space. Several options for tables/booths. Tables can be a bit close to each other. If you're sitting at a table, careful when ordering more than 2 items. You might run out of space... They sell some snacks and pickle. Service. Food is great overall atmosphere is amazing. Service has gotten much better. Enjoy coming here. Overall: Overall love visiting this location.
We ordered their Andhra Mirchi Bajji with filter coffee. The coffee was a little strong for me. The smell of Bajji reminded me of Hyderabad's street Bajji. They gave Bajji with onions and masala. They were small and they weren't slit and stuffed with onion masala. Otherwise they almost gave the taste of Indian street Bajjis. The place is very clean and quiet. Service was quick. They have the tables for wheel accessibility. The ghee podi onion masala dosa was good. It was crispy with perfect podi. But vada was not crispy and it didn't have onions, cilantro, and chilies like the last time I was there. Update(08/01/24): I ordered Mirchi bajji again. They were delicious. They were slit and stuffed with onion, peanuts and spices. They were yummy. Thank you for listening to my request Ulavacharu.

Monday night takeout: 1. Ordered Special Pulav, veg, was good, filling, well cooked veggies(carrot, potato, peas, beans etc.), generous amount and I’d say it’s oily too(not great), I wasn’t able to finish half for a meal. Comes with a curry and raita. Pro-tip: Split it across two meals for better health. 2. The packaging was good and competitively priced. 💯
Good Dosa but rest mediocre. Experience was as expected. The Dosa was good but the other things were okay - definitely not to my liking. Seating and atmosphere were definitely good aspect of the experience. The vada was a little sour , idly could have been softer and the upma was passable at best.

Food amazing. Staff very rude and disrespectful. They seem to hate what they do and make it very clear. A couple of them are nice and courteous. But the rest are so rude, we used to go every single weekend but stopped because of the horrible treatment and cold looks we keep getting from the staff. The owner was always so friendly and a great guy, we used to love going, but lately it became very hard to prioritize the food over the disrespect.
Took my friend for a special occasion and ordered special Onam thali. The entire dinner was served room temperature. Who serves rasam and sambar that is not warm. I complained and nobody cared. We both packed much of the food so we can warm it up at home. At checkout the manager gives me $4 discount for the inconvenience. This is the worst Indian place in all of bay area. I love Ulavachuru in Santa Clara - and thought will try this. But such a bad experience.
I think this is by far one of the worst services we ever received in the bay area.. We were 7 people and still eating and it was 15 mins post closing time and we got the food 15 mins before closing time.. And the guy was rude and asked us to pay and leave... I understand it was closing time and they could have asked or informed us in a better way... Ridiculous stuff.. Stop accepting dine ins if you think it'll go over.. Don't ask people to stop eating and leave.. You are a restaurant for God's sake.. The only good thing about this was the food..
Here, they just served the masala directly on the plate. At least they could have kept it in a small cup instead of placing it like that. It didn’t look presentable at all, and it felt very unusual for a rava masala dosa. Normally, the masala is either placed inside the dosa or served neatly in a bowl on the side. But here it was simply spread on the plate, which made the whole dish look messy. I have honestly never seen a rava dosa served like this before. 🤷♀️
I have been coming to UC Tiffins - Campbell for a long time, and unfortunately today was the worst experience I’ve had here. I ordered the Special Ravva Masala Dosa, and it came with cashews that tasted expired. The nuts were extremely oily and had a rancid smell and aftertaste that lingered in my mouth. I’ve had this dish before and never experienced this issue, so this was very noticeable. When I brought the cashews to the manager’s attention, instead of acknowledging the concern, I was told that they buy in bulk and that’s just how the oil smells. That explanation was disappointing. This was not normal — the cashews clearly did not taste fresh. What was more concerning than the food itself was the unwillingness to accept the possibility of spoiled ingredients. As a regular customer, I expected better quality control and a more responsible response. It’s unfortunate because I’ve had good experiences here in the past, but not addressing a clear quality issue is what truly made this experience disappointing. I hope the management takes ingredient freshness more seriously going forward.
