I've been a student (intermittently) here since 2010. As someone that loves learning and the overall "school" atmosphere, I feel extremely fortunate that I get to be a student at Palomar College; "lucked out", I would say. The teachers are magnificent and have the potential to change your life forever (I know a few that have for me already*). You can get help with enrollment fees with through the BOG Waiver - all my classes end up being free because of it. Parking permits 1/2 off also. The school is modern and always improving. Their buildings are stylish and unlike anything I've seen anywhere else. Each is unique, yet somehow they all come together to form a beautiful campus. I truly look at this campus like a second home. I love going here. (Parking can suck, that's a big reason why I try to only stick to night classes 🤓) ➡️ HOWEVER! They now have a brand new parking GARAGE! I haven't used it yet, as I am only doing evening classes, but I can only imagine how much it helps everyone be able to find parking! It is nice to know that they actually do care about the problems we face throughout college life & do what they can to help make it as comfortable & as enjoyable as possible! UPDATE (3/19/18)!! I started using the parking garage and it is AWESOME!!! Security cameras coming soon! This school keeps on getting better and better!! 'Safety' is also another big thing here that they take seriously. They make sure to inform us students on a regular (& when, if necessary) basis all the details regarding our options when it comes to being and staying safe throughout our education at Palomar. They have their own (actual/legit) police force that is on duty 24/7 & a direct emergency line to call any hour day or night. They provide free escorts to anyone needing or just wanting a little extra piece of mind walking to their car or anywhere around campus. Every class locks from the inside by a button next to the teacher's phone that keeps anyone from getting in in case of an active shooter or anything else putting students at harm, & when they lock, it sends a signal to the Palomar Police with the location of the room, etc. etc. I could go on but you get it, they care & work hard to keep us safe! 🤗 * AJ Professor Jack Hook, AJ Professor Leeyann Chapman, COMM Professor Wendy Nelson & LS Professor Lisa Burns; just to name a few! ;)
This campus is lovely and the staff are professional, courteous and competent. There are numerous parking lots making it quite convenient even for late arriving students or for those who take classes during peak hours. The natural sciences building is quite impressive as is the landscaping and labeling of the plants and trees. This school is a gem!
Palomar Alumni here, graduated in December of 2011 and love all of the new changes. The parking structure in the back, the new Library, all of the resource centers. It has improved from having classrooms in the staff lots 1 and 2 to having the beautiful MD and H department buildings.
Palomar college was a great experience absolutely the place to start a carrier search! Here I learned the basic tools I needed to operate my Landscape business located in Vista Ca

Saw an outstanding show at the Howard Brubeck Theater. "Into The Woods" I highly recommend it.
I felt it right to add a review because of my experience. I attended Palomar College last year via the Rising Scholars program. And the experience was more than I could have ever asked for. These people genuinely do give you the impression that they really care about your individual success. First of all I noted that everyone who worked for the program was extremely kind and helpful. But personally, I have the most experience going through Joe who works for the Rising Scholars department. He is the staff member who originally signed me up. He really went out of his way to help at every turn possible. He was there every step of the way and honestly i likely would have given up had it not been for him. After some time I noticed that he didn't only do this for me, but he did this same thing for everyone who walked in through his door. Going above and beyond to help everyone succeed. When I first started attending I wondered to myself why he always had a long line of students waiting for him in particular. But I quickly learned the answer to that question. Its because he whole heartedly and genuinly cares about each and every student. The guy stays swamped with work and still goes above and beyond on every student that he enrolls. If all of Palomar staff are as caring and helpful as him then I can see this college helping to change the lives of thousands of people.
Art sale at Palomar college in the Boehm gallery. It started today, 10 a.m. to 6 pm. Runs til Saturday but closes early Saturday afternoon.
I used to attend school there, but now I take my dogs for a walk there sometimes. We go through the hills and trails at the arboretum. It's beautiful with tall trees, and a lot of shade. They have many unique plants and shrubs throughout, very interesting to see.

All the Palomar Campuses are conveniently located, nice, clean, and beautiful. I have been going to college here for 2 years and I love it.

My initial experience began when entering the student parking lot, which subsequently made me fifteen minutes late for orientation. The little time I was on campus, you can see the development of new buildings which are a stark contrast to the older structures. Parking is metered or requires a permit. People I interacted with were friendly, lots of financial-aid programs available.

Affordable start to furthering education. Wish I were still local; I would consider completing my schooling through Palomar so I could finally have a degree in hand for the 'some college' I received after high school. Thanks to the faculty and other staff there for helping further my education. -Alyssa

The school is okay, but most of the classes I want to take are only offered online, which isn’t convenient for me. I'm enrolled in an online video editing course that feels really boring, and the workload is overwhelming, with many assignments due on the same day. I’ve already been dropped from two classes and only have two left. One of my professors even mentioned dropping me from the class during another course. It’s been a frustrating experience overall.
Here’s my story : I use to go to this school before I transferred to a 4 year university, I can say for certain that my time here felt more than wasted. From mandatory classes becoming optional to almost none of the councilors or faculty staff attempting to help you with any processes, the worst part of it was my last semester at Palomar I had all the classes needed to get my AA-T degree so when I transferred to the 4 year I wanted to go to there wouldn’t be any issues, unfortunately for me the councilor I was under told me that I only needed one class more to transfer, so I listened to the councilor, dropped all my courses I was originally going to take that semester to sign up for this single course , after I passed and transferred come to find out they put me down for a certificate instead of an AA-T although on my academic planner it had me as AA-T . Now I’m at my university taking courses I could have easily avoided and now I have to pay more for them , I tried going back to palomar to retake some of the courses at a cheaper price but they refused to allow me as they have a policy of only letting you take the class a singular time if you passed the first time with no exceptions and told me to look elsewhere to retake courses to achieve a better grade this summer . Another side note is that every time you call them their staff always seem to try and rush you off the phone even after little to no help given
I was on the waitlist, they moved me on a class but didn't send me any notification, email, notice and when I noticed that send an email about drop the class because already missed a lot of assignments. Noone replied my email and after year theysend me a email about my bill. This is not OK . At least they could send welcome email or notification. Never will back and warn everyone around me to find another collage.
Admissions Department seems to be slow and the people working in the dual enrollment dept. seem not to be getting the students process going so they can complete the registration process and the school website promotes dual enrollment.
Do not go to Palomar. Just go to Mira Costa or any other school. I can't even begin to describe how awful my experience was attending this school. I am happy to say that I will never be coming back here. Which is sad, considering I know dozens of folks who went to this college a few decades ago. But times have changed, and so has this school.. for the worse.
Got my lower division AA degree here. Honestly, if you're looking for a good school, with excellent administrative staff, clear, inforamative, and ACCURATE communications...LOOK ELSEWHERE! I've recently taken classes at other colleges and the difference was night to day! The campus itself is small and it's relatively easy to walk from one building to another. Palomar has made some improvements and many of the buildings are modern and up to date. Parking is usually plentiful and relatively affordable. Classes and teachers are usually okay at best. Now that I've experienced other schools as a comparrison, I definitely would NOT recommend getting your education here; the list of problems is too long. Believe the bad reviews!
DO NOT COME TO THIS PLACE, besides the extremely liberal teachers, the staff is 1000% incompetent and rude, worse college o have ever attended, save yourself the headache, the set backs and the problems
Choose your professors wisely as this choice will determine your fate and success in the class. This is an affordable college to complete your education goals, however the staff isn't very helpful or accurate in their information. Calling most of their numbers available for information will lead you to frustration and confusion. Especially the financial and cashier's office, which I would assume would have the most competent individuals, but I was wrong because it was the opposite. I had just called about a simple question and was left to be transferred from department to department, and ended with my question still unsolved and annoyed by the service. Overall it's a good experience in the classroom, but not with the other staff. I also had to go to three different counselors from different departments (veterans, palomar promise, and general), and each one gave me a different education plan.
The classes and education itself is phenomenal. Cashier's office was very accommodating and i really appreciate their staff. I cannot say the same of the financial aid office or admissions staff who handle phone calls. I'm not sure if it's the same lady but every time I call I seem to get to her and she's very rude, gives false information, and makes me feel stupid. I always dread having to make a call to this college. Her customer service communication needs to be re-evaluated. There are many students here who don't need to feel casted aside for trying to further there education and better themselves.
I would definitely recommend going to a different school. I have had so many issues with this college. Most recently I had spoke with someone about dropping a class . I filled out the form and was informed that I was withdrawn from the class and no other action was required. Then I get an email saying I owe 75 dollars. I reached out to several people and only got the run around. I shouldn’t have to pay for a class I dropped from and never attended. It’s sad how bad this school has become.
Do your own research on transfer requirements—because the advising here clearly won’t. I trusted my counselor, followed their course plan, and wasted time and money on classes that didn’t count toward transfer. If you go here, assume your “two-year” path may quietly turn into four.
